LG-500p cm 7.2: installation and bugs - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey im new in the this section cuz this is my moms phone and she needs an upgrade
i didn't find some answers to my questions so i will ask them here
1.Cm 7.2 is bugless?
2.what is the best ClockworkMod based recovery for this phone?
3.what Rom could you suggest me ?(battery life is the most important thing)

Don't mess with your moms phone.
Stock rom is the best option for people who only use it as a phone (calls/texts/light internet surfing) so unless she wants to change a new theme everyday, game all day long in [insertdemandinggame] or need 70 apps at one time, you don't need any other OS on it other that stock

here are your answers
1) yes stable release of cm7.2 is bugless , nightly version may or may not have bugs.
2) best version of clockwork mod is 5.0.2.7, i recommend amonra
3)for battery life cm7 is good or you can check oxyen gingerbread(by popdog)
hope i helped

I recommend you use the Stock Rom which you are using right now!!
Root it.. uninstall all system aaps which your mom doesnt use!!
Its a smartphone so dont think of getting battery backup more than
1nhalf day.
Save battery by lowering screen brightness.
Keep WIFI / 3g / 2g / GPS.. OFF.. till you need them.

perhaps you mean the theme's notification area is too bright? try another theme and see what happens

for me, cranium is definitely the best of all I've tried, but that's very limited. the best thing is to test some for yourself and see, since different people have different preferences...

The super best custom ROMs will be when gingerbread 2.3.7 will be out.. Or probably if we have a successful ICS port... So honestly speaking there is no best custom ROM it is upto your daily usage for you to decide!
Tapashocked via my gt-I9003 with a random keyboard of my choice !
when i added that widget of task manager it displays that , problem in loading widget
any idea by how much time will 2.3.7 rom or ICS be released

As he mentioned he needs video recording, so any CM based ROMs are out of question.
u can use poseidon rom since it more stable than CM all issues encountered by the users and testers has been solved like wifi, gps, battery performance..etc
plz hit the thanks button if i helped you
yep, i agree buddy.
of all roms ive tried (not including cm's) poseidon's rom over xxkpq was smoothest and best, with bugs solved.. along with this installation was kernel: uc v9 1009 + custom theme (you may choose up to your own choice) + some mods/scripts. the above enumerated was the best ive used for so long before moving to miui v4 2.7.6 which is way too smooth (however, unapplicable to u since video recording deems to work in low res).
cheers.
I loved titanium rom the most!! finest rom ^_^ .. even supports Hindi and other languages .. and i found it to be best when it comes battery ..

Would you say miui and poseidon are better than remics?? I'm thinking of flashing miui. I'm looking mostly for smoothnes in scroll and opening apps.
For you I think the best options are titanium or stock. I love stock roms! But they are not smooth enough for me, if that's not a problem for you, you should use the stock rom because of the lack of bugs.

i think ill go for titanium again, just will ask anyone if that rom works with bam kernel, smooth fast best battery life. I love stock rom to but to much lags and not so smooth, titanium has just one little bug; when someone calls you u cant see who is calling for about 1 second thats enough for grabbing the phone from your pocket lol, u all got thanks for answers, thanks.
if u want to be in stock ROM better to try the new value pack which is DDLF2 it has been reviewed by others and they can say that it is battery efficient, smooth and stable...and if u found lags u can use bam kernel v.14 beta that fixes bugs.. dont forget the thanks button..hehe
u can read some reviews about the said fw here:

Try TheFrankenstein's Mod for DDLF2. Its smooth as hell . Literally as fast as CM7 . U could give it a try .

im not saying that poseidon is better than remics buddy. i am saying that poseidon could be of good choice too. pls read op buddy, he asks for a bug free rom (specially with video recording) so i did not mention about remics, etc so as not to mislead him.
cheers,
edit:
sorry buddy, misunderstood ur post hehe..
poseidon paired with uc kernel v9 1009 was the longest streak i used (in terms of gingerbread base). apps smooth and snappy during opening. titanium had good reviews too buddy.
if u were referring of miui gingerbread, its not so stable and battery life is short. ryt now however, i am on miui v4 (ics based), which is far the snappiest ive tried in terms of scrolling and opening apps. battery life also is satisfactory with around 15-17 hrs moderate use per experience. miui v4's external card been changed to emmc =)

Opinion: Which ROM are you using..??

Hi Guys,
Can we share / Suggest which ROM we are using..??
As we know Many questions will arise:
Q. 1) Why I made this thread..??
A. For sure, We can discuss here what features we are availing in which ROM.:good:
Q. 2) Who will be most beneficial for this thread..??
A. 2 .Specially Noobs / Newbies will come to know that Which ROM are suitable for them & why.
Just like me:
I am using Angeek ROM. Its Awesome in Battery Life. Using MIUI home launcher in it, looking like real one. But I am unable to flash Ardatdat's new kernels due to some changes done in this ROM.
Don't know what is in my Mind Now but I thought we should share our thoughts here.
This thread is not Made to Dominate our Dev's. If any Dev feels so then I can ask MOD to Close this one.
Also, Note that "You're sharing opinions, not facts." Any suggestion would be welcomed. :highfive:
Just something to keep in mind with threads like these, Vikesh:
This thread should not be used to 'advertise' any one Developer's products. I have no issue with the thread staying, provided this is the only one made, and that it's used by you guys to simply share what ROMs you're using. No links etc.
Posting what works for you is fine. Posting 'why would you use that crap' though, is most definitely not.
Remember, this is a subjective thread. You're sharing opinions, not facts.
Keep that in mind, and enjoy :good: I'll keep an eye out here, too.

Yeah u are rite games r much smoother in gb as compared to ics.
currently on BlueBerry ROM 1.2, found it very stable and with no major bugs. and right now really in Love with Sensation theme of BB (though there is no blue in this theme still it is called BB )
Since it is an opinion oriented thread, I would like to say few word about other ROMs which I have tried so far.
Mazel 2 : It felt very smooth with different animations and theming, though it had bugs but now it has been resolved.
Suggestion : Hoping Selva to release next ROM based on XXLQ9.
Angeeks : This ROM is very Powerful (Battery life :good::good, bug-free and smooth,
Suggestion : Make it kernel friendly and ability to update GAPPS via Play Store.

I wanted to be stock completely coz currently this is my primary phone and i can't experiment/tests softwares on it but to avoid eMMC bug risk i've switched to ardatdat 4.0 kernal which is stock kernal without eMMC bug....
Issues i'm facing :
1. Battery backup is not as convincing as GB
2. Games like Temple run often lags.. i play this lot so a bit frustrated
3. Network reception seems bad compared to GB
4. Some other minor issues

its all right buddy. actually this thread is being watched by our great MOD "Justin". So, any comment which is not acceptable by him can close this whole thread. Thats why I said you buddy. I didn't mean that..Sorry If I hurt you..:crying:
I'm using TheFrankenstain mod 4.0.2 with some custom additions like BlueBerry mod or my kernel and I'm very satisfied with it.
MIUI is also very good, I really like it.
Mazel II: It drains my battery because of the nice animations and transitions, so I cannot use it as I don't bring my charger.
GS3: It has very good conception behind it and it's quite promising despite the fact that the gallery and music doesn't work. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have created a repack of it.

if you want to stay on stock: viper one s 2.2.0 with latest bricked kernel (I got 3-4%/h drain with normal usage, whatsapp, fb, xda, music)
if you want to switch to aosp: slimbean/latest cm10.1 release/deviantx with latest bubba vn3 kernel
thats my opinion
I also would recommend Viper!

I know it's been almost a year since your last post, but what are your thoughts on these 3 roms now?
I got this phone not so long ago, tried a few kitkat roms that weren't fully functional, so ended up choosing unofficial cm10.2. But after 2 months, I'm still not fully satisfied with stability and especially battery life. What is your current rom now, and otherwise which one is the most stable/has best battery life?

@Rawwr :- I have used CM9, 10 & 10.1 and I can say as on Today Only CM7 is the most stable and complete rom for Defy/+. CM7 beats CM9, CM10 & CM10.1 on the ground of performance / stability.
@v2dare / Maniac :- Its nice to see that Maniac is still working on CM7, Can Maniac port Walters Custom Kernel (GB) in upcoming builds?
Thanks

I understand, I get caught up because I faced many frustrations on CM10 based roms, it abandoned me several times on which I needed it a lot. While I absolutely glorify our developers, our devices just can't seem to handle it.
So I was just expressing my opinion as well
Xperia D sounds like a great rom, I used it some versions ago but experienced some menu lag.
Does it support proxy settings globally?
Thanks for sharing those links with us..
Maybe maniac is tired writing in english
Thanks guys..

I agree that cm7.2 is the most stable rom for defy. I have defy plus (526) but it causing me problems. An error "com.phone has stopped working" if you know that one, is this problem fixed in this rom?
What do I need to do in order to downgrade to this version from quarx cm10.2 (android 4.3)?

first download aroma wiper (search the forum for that)
then format everything that is /data /system /cache using aroma wiper to ext 3 format
then install the zip of this rom
also
u can format /data /cache to ext3 usin bootmenu but I personally recommend aroma wiper as it wipes /system as well so u can get clean rom
p.s. - u can use clockwork mod recovery by downloadin dual recovery zip from development sec or if u r using twrp then after opening recovery dont run anything for at least 20--30 sec cause sometimes twrp crashes in the beginning but if doesn't crash then u can run aroma wiper
Mmm, still have the same problem as the last maniac rom, only worse now. When I make a call the screen goes black like normal, then at the end of the call it stays black and the only way to get my display back is to pull the battery and reboot.
