Hello,
I'm brand new to the forums, been reading up on my phone and things to do with it. I've just been running stock everything, unrooted and using GO overlays which I really like. I was thinking of rooting my phone and let me friend play around with it... BIG MISTAKE. My phone won't turn on, boot, power up or anything... Have they bricked my phone and is there ANYTHING at all that I can do to recover it? I was using Kies and have my phone backed up and everything... but assuming it won't even turn on... Does anyone have any advice on some options?
Galaxy SII SkyRocket I727
Rogers - Canada

If it wont turn on it sounds like a hardbrick, what did your friend flash? my guess he probably flashed a SGS II rom. You will have to repair it using jtag for 50$.
If you still got warranty you could try using it.
Going Crazy!
Holding down the volume key doesn't work, I can't download emulators to get it up with the phone unable to function or device drivers be updated or detected at all... I've read and read and read and NOTHING is working... I can see if I can create a jig, I think the parts are all around here somewhere... But is that the ONLY option? If it's hard bricked and they've completely messed it up, does anyone know of ANY potentials whatsoever of how to rebuild this thing back to normal?? Please help, I'm going to ASDLKDJLSKDJ someone up... !!! In the meantime I need to see if I can save this thing!
As I said for hardbrick you'll have to find a jtag repair service nearby and send your phone nad pay 50$.

I'm pretty sure I'm under warranty... Pretty sure they're going to be extremely peeved when they find out it's hardbricked from god knows what...
It took a while but I finally found the ordering site for jtag... Going to try that route I s'pose, thank you. Good thing I have an old crap phone as a back-up in the meantime... They don't require the SIM do they? I don't really trust sending that off...

No sim required. When you pull the battery out and put it back in and hold power do you even get a Samsung logo flash on the screen?

There's a lot of threads on replacing rooted droid phones. But i couldnt find anything on Samsung T-mobile phones.
i bricked the rooted sidekick 4G yesterday (a hard brick, when i boot the phone, it doesnt turn on, only a little back light comes up, no samsung logo; when i release the power, screen goes back to dark). And today i asked for a replacement and it will arrive in a week.
When i send back the brick phone, they told me to take out battery, battery door and sd card. Then they will check what happened to it when they get the front piece of the phone
So my question is are the tech people able to find out my phone was rooted and void the warranty. Or they will just replace the phone since they cant really turn on the phone to check anything.
Thanks in advance guys!
they will just pop in a test battery n see if its hardbricked
For your sake, you probably don't want to go flashing your device again. But, they probably aren't going to specifically know the device was rooted. You erased everything when you flashed the device..
I still doubt you really bricked it...

what if it is hard bricked? does that included in the warranty, or they will charge me extra money?
@orange: the problem is, it wasnt really bricked at the beginning, i was still able to get into download mode, so i tried to restore it with odin.
But idk what happened during the restore, the phone just wont boot after that, nor get into download mode/recovery mode. So im pretty sure its hard bricked =[

Samsung phones are damn near impossible to hard brick thanks to Odin, but even so if you turn it in they won't know anything if they can't even boot the phone up, they will through the battery in, see it doesn't boot, and send you a new one. They don't have the same tools we have

thx for the answer =]
ye, they will send me the replacement first and ill send back the bricked one. We'll see what happens after they check the phone =]
OP I have the exact same issue, Did they replace the handset no problem? No Out Of Warranty fee?
I think I posted this in the wrong forum, I suppose I was a little confused on my phone
I have a US AT&T version of the i727 Skyrocket. I think i accidentally flashed an improper kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369977
I didn't realize I was browsing the wrong forum *sigh*.
Anyway, when I went to reboot after installing the kernel in CWM, I get a black screen. If I hold down both volume buttons and plug in USB, I get nothing. It doesn't seem to put it in download mode. There, it doesn't get recognized in ODIN.
What are my options here? Would a "jig" actually do anything in this case? I can't tell the scenarios it can actually recover from and not.
Hard brick, its done
Jtag or send to samsung

If it does absolutely nothing, i'd say you bricked it which is quite possible if you flashed something for another phone. I don't think a jig will do you any good, based on things i've read before. Not 100%. Maybe someone else will give you some better input.
thanks for the replies. I can't get it in to download mode at all, so I'm afraid it's hard bricked.
Are there any guides to doing the jtag repair yourself? I'm pretty tech-savvy and comfortable opening up the phone, etc. I could get my hands on a jtag unit.
I just don't want to keep bricking it and sending it out for another $50. I'd rather have a solution where I can fix it myself.

I'd hope not to, but on my first try I bricked it. I've never bricked my Nexus S after a ton of crappy kernels. Sigh...
Doesn't look like anyone has figured out a homebrew JTAG solution.

Well, jtag for this phone was just made possible only a month or two ago. There may be a guide somewhere, but I dunno. You flashed something from a completely different phone, any time you do that you are pretty much guaranteed a brick. Just pay attention to what you're doing, man. Read more and flash less.

Right, understandable. Lesson learned there.
I can't tell if this is legitimate or not:
http://www.jtagbox.com/2012/03/page/2/
$50 isn't too bad. Obviously doing it yourself, if you could, would be better. I'd be on the safe side though and have mobiletech (i'm assuming you know about them), do it.
Alright... heres the situation, I have an Samsung galaxy s2 LTE i7R2 from Rogers... rooted.. worked fine. tried to flash a rom after erasing all data... and now my phone wont turn on, cant boot whatsoever.. tried pulling battery and holding the volume buttons and plugging in usb to download boot and no dice...
ive had this thing for 3 months its for sure not the hardware... anyone know how the hell i can fix this situation without returning my phone... im not a dumby.. but i feel sort of dumb for trying to put a i777 rom on my phone and not realizing it until my phone doesnt boot anymore... uhg... someone please help me
Flashing a 777 rom is a hard brick so no you can't save it you f'd up jtag is your only hope

uhg... i guess ill just take it back to rogers and say it crashed..
Uh oh, here it comes....
Its just common since to not flash anything for any other phone. You learned the hard way instead of reading.
oh believe me.. i was reading up all day.. i am not a tech noob either, i deploy computers for a living... i just had so many windows open i downloaded the wrong zip because i was checking other roms and features out... blah i guess ill just make a USB jig..
Jig won't help you you have damaged your partitions and can only fix with jtag why won't you listen I'm not stupid dude I been around for a while

Uhhhmmmm... have you tried google? You are not a tech noobie, right?

Yea i have looked through google... its a hard brick so not much i can do at this point.. i was thinking a USB jig would get me to download mode... but im being told other wise.. blah this sucks
I suggest sending it off for jtag. You knew the risk, now pay the price. Its an expensive lesson. But a lesson learned hopefully. you can probably get your phone back instead of trying to con Rogers out of a new or refurb phone.
There's another one for noobs/ people who don't listen or read other peoples mistakes! Huh way to go to make skyrocket owners look like we like bricking our phones....
Android 4.0.4 AOKP
Ok first of all relax on the hate... im not making anyone look back but myself, i clearly made a simple mistake which cost me a working phone, not much i can do now... i may still try to USB JIG and see if i get anywhere... if not then i will send it in i guess.. anyone know the cost of a Jtag... and what are the chances of rogers just replacing it.. or reflashing it
Seriously.... http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-jtag-brick-repair/
This was recommended in the past. Next time search before you post.
Well i appreciate all the suggestions and help.. and sorry for the hostile people who clearly need to get girlfriends.. like calm down its a question first of all, second of all not everyone has time to spend 9 hours researching bricked phones, I agree i should have taken better steps towards not bricking my phone.. my bad, i guess JTag will get this one... or i will send my phone in to rogers most likely for repair..
It only takes 10 seconds to GOOGLE. Just saying. Its just thread after thread after thread of people flashing the wrong rom, asking for stuff that is right in front of them, or posting threads in the wrong forum all together.
Now I did search the forums and I didn't find anything thing like I have going on. First a little background. I was an iPhone user since iPhone was iPhone. I decided to try Android and was hooked. I got the SGH-i727. I have been flashing since day one. Well, here's my dilemma. I d/l'd a ROM that I thought was for the Skyrocket, but after I read more carefully and already flashed. It was for a i9000. Everything went fine during the ROM, but after a reboot my phone wont power on. No Lights, no vibration, nothing. I'm not sure if this was the dumbest thing I have done yet or if this is an easy fix. I know I should have read more carefully, but I got excited and couldn't help myself. I was running AOKP CM10 with no problems since the first ROM was out, but I got greedy. I hope some of you geniuses can help. I have taken the SIM, SD, battery out. But too no avail! Thanks guys!
If you flashed a ROM from a different phone, it's more than likely bricked. You try getting into download mode and all that already?
Apparently you didn't read enough, your phone is hard bricked you'll have to pay 50$ to get it repaired through jtag.

Look them up. Think I am going to try to return back to AT&T today and see what they say. I looked up JTAG and it's like 60 when all is said and done. I also contacted Samsung. What are the odds they will repair it. I opened a repair ticket and the guy I talked to said free repair unless it was water damaged. This sucks!
you could say you were upgrading to ICS through kies when the cabled got disconnected in the middle, may work and may not.
You might be not need jtag. Have you looked into a usb jig? You can buy them off of ebay for less then 10 bucks. If your in a hurry and have a spare micro usb cable and are good with your hands you can also make one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707
That should force DL mode then from there flash back to stock.
You are hard bricked. The thing the dude above me said doesn't work for hard bricks.
Call ATT if you have warranty and tell them your phone won't turn on this morning and you don't know what's going on.
If you don't have warranty then jtag it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have had this awesome phone for 5 weeks, so I am passed the 30 day "trial" period ATT allots you, but I think being a customer for about 15 years may pay off. If not JTAG will work, because I think Sammy will charge me because it had been flashed, and thus warranty voided. Will let everyone know of my successes after Monday evening when I attempt the upgrading to ICS and now it's not working thing.
Going back to Apple for a few days is about to kill me.
Do you have AT&T warranty? Wait nvm, you got a 1 warranty so AT&T will replace it free of charge.
Just tell them you were upgrading to ICS thru kies and when your phone went to reboot it didn't turn on. It's been happening for some reason. People call it the UCLF6 brick bug.

I'm not sure how tough Samsung is on this. I had a custom rom on mine, running fine for a month or so. One day, I go to grab my phone off the dresser and it's so hot I can barely hold it. I powered it off, let it cool down, and went to power on and got nothing. I had a jig and tried it to no avail. Finally, I called ATT and told them what happened. They sent a new (well, refurbished) phone, and I sent mine back to ATT. I was so worried they were going to charge me since it was rooted and running a custom rom, and my wife HATES that I flash and just looks for a reason to get me to stop, but I never heard anything else about it. They said on the phone that it sounded like the processor ws fried. You could use that story too.

Nice!
I was tired and very short on time and got careless. I tried to unroot my Flex 2 by using the LG flash tool but because I didnt read enough, I did it wrong and now my phone wont turn on, wont charge, and cant get into download mode.
Should I put it in a drawer and wait until someone figures out how to unbrick or sell on ebay as broken? Kind of depressed right now...

How much did it cost? Or did they do it under warranty?
They repair it under warranty.
Usually phones have 1 yr factory warranty, so bountyman has sent it twice if im not mistaken.
If you're in the US send it in for repair.
I've just sent mine off for repair.
I bricked it editing system files, tried to use the flash tool but it didn't work so just took it straight to the store and they sent it off no questions asked.
The only problem now (aside from not having my phone) is that this time of year it can take up to 2 weeks to get it back.
If you are worried about them refusing because you voided the warranty, just tell them that you installed an official update and it wouldnt work after that. They can't argue if you make it look like it's their fault.
I'll admit it's wrong to lie but, it's an expensive phone.
thanks for the replies. I've started the repair process via email, had to ask them if I could still do it without proof of purchase and they said they will look up IMEI to verify manufactured date (it was 04/2015). Email support must be somewhere across the globe from me because I got a very fast response at 1am CT but no response during business hours.
I've learned my lesson. No rooting or unrooting as long as I have little kids that wear me out and leave me with no time to research.
