Hi guys
I'm a massive fan of android, i have a 64GB iPad 2 but I'm bored with no jailbreak... would it be worth selling iPad for an eeepad?

I don't want to be presumptuous, but I think this is the wrong place for an objective answer. So if I have to play the Oracle (Matrix ), I would say "but you already know the answer to your question".

True, I know some people have used an iPad too though so they might be able to compare
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
On a serious note, i have used both but ultimatley they both have their strengths and weaknesses. For me one of the biggest things android has is Flash, having an iPhone searching the web can be a very frustrating experience - same applies to the iPad.
They are both brilliant gadgets i think it just depends what you want to use it for.

P.s. the iPhone is going at the ealiest oppertunity!
It would be for browsing, Twitter, Facebook. Don't game that much

So my opinion (and just my opinion) the Transformer would suit you well. With the widgets to enhance twitter and facebook and the browser having flash you would be sorted.
Although the system is not to the same refinement as the Ipad yet, ie you may get the odd fc but Android is only going to improve with time and will eventually overtake ios (in my opinion)
Thats my opinon anyways. (Did i already say that?)

Funny, I just shipped out my iPad 2 this morning and I'm a huge Apple guy.
Two biggest things for me were the higher resolution and the expandability... (microsd, dock, usb ports, sd card slot....)
I'll re-evaluate iPad when the higher resolution screen comes out but I doubt they will ever include a memory card slot. (Hope I'm wrong.)
However, my Transformer isn't completely safe either! He's lucky the Samsung doesn't have a memory card slot or usb.
I love Apple too but I've been using my sgs2 and android and I love all the customisation.
Do you miss the iPad?

Hmmmm...think about it, people. Can we really have TOO many toys? As the proud ower of two NCs, a GTab and a TF it's like Christmas everyday! lol
And educational. (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)
@Guitarfreak26
Well, I just shipped it this morning but I haven't really used it much since I got the Transformer.
I wish there was a way to sync my Yahoo calendar to the nice Honeycomb calendaring app, but other than that, not really.
I mean, there are plenty of cool things on the iPad but they were things I thought I'd use but never did.
(iTunes? Nope, use my iPhone or Nano. Airplay, never use it. Games? Keep buying them on sale but hardly ever play them. I'd trade all of that stuff for a microsd slot and hdmi out without adapters... And I did! )
Where did you sell? Ebay?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
No, an excellent board I frequent named Ars Technica.
eBay has gone to hell.... Buyer traffic seems way down and the fees are out of hand.
(Especially nice when eBay takes its pound of flesh and then their company PayPal takes ANOTHER big chunk.)
I agree about ebay....
Do you find yourself using the dock much?
I think i found out about the ipads usefulness when i went a convention last weekend, i tried to find a website where i could watch a few episodes of Monk and nothing would work because of no flash!!
No, I don't use the dock too much... Mostly as a charging station. But then again I haven't been on any trips since I got it.
However, when I do use it I like it quite a bit. Nice having the extra battery, extra SD card storage, a decent keyboard and a very nice trackpad.
Yeah, I didn't think Flash would add that much but then I started using sites that require it and would find it hard to go back. And I especially don't want to go back to the lower resolution.
The form factor... I don't know. I like both. The iPad's shape is good for books and magazines, and the Transformer's is good for internet and movies. (And pretty much everything else.)
Thatll be amazing when 3.1 is out and supports the camera plug in etc...

I just realized that! Almost 10% from eBay and another 5% from PayPal. That makes 15% off the total sales price, including shipping! I was shocked and appalled when I saw that. Resulted in a BIG loss when I sold my XOOM

Yes I understand GPUs are important for other things. Thread title is a joke. But check this out...OnLive . Basically OnLive is going to try running their services to tablets (doing the game computing in the cloud). I am totally willing to try this! Imagine xbox/ps3 like games on your tablet or even your phone.
I tried it, it worked. I played Dirt 3 on my phone. The visual quality may not be the greatest though, might depend on the data speed/connection or something?
I noticed that too. It's like you're watching a video of a video

Their servers only support 720p atm is why it looks so odd but they did say 1080p was a future goal. Other than that this thing is pretty great.

Hello everyone! This is a question about GPS on the device, however I didn't see too many comparisons from previous Inspire 4G owners which is what I'm mostly interested in. However I invite anyone to join in this topic.
I currently have an Inspire 4G running CM 7.1 and have been debating on getting the Skyrocket.
Last week I went to Wal-Mart and upgraded to the OGSGSII, but took it back because the GPS wasn't working as well as my Inspire was. I had the Captivate before the Inspire and as most of you know the GPS was terrible and I didn't want to go back to that. I rely on GPS too much since I travel for work. Not to mention my new work phone is a OGSGSII that I just got yesterday and I didn't want to have two of the same device. The GPS on my work OGSGSII is functioning about the same as the one I took back from Wal-Mart.
So for those of you that have the Skyrocket, did any of you come from the Inspire? How's the GPS functionality on the Skyrocket compared to Inspire? For those of you not coming from the Inspire, please tell me your opinions too.
Thanks!!
Our inspire had horrible GPS
As a matter of fact we just returned from a 3 week road trip where we compared the 2 and we were soooo glad I had the skyrocket.
GPS can be hit or miss on Samsung devices but when it is a miss it is easy to fix

I say ditch the inspire and come here. I had the inspire and the battery life is horrible compare to this one.

What is your all's opinions on what people are saying about the screen? Some are saying they see lines?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I had the HD2 and the Inspire. The Skyrocket has a better GPS than both. Hardware wise, my Skyrocket is better than my Garmin 3790! Now, if we could only get Garmin software on Android.
I'm not real happy with any of the GPS apps for Android.
Google maps is OK if you already know where you're going. It misses by a couple of blocks sometimes. The maps are accurate, the addresses for POIs are not. Also, Google Maps is not reliable at choosing the best, or even a reasonable route. No real POI import. Only useful with a data source. Caching works OK, NOT. Excellent worldwide map availibility, IF you have a data connection.
Co-Pilot's maps are only OK at Best. The text to voice sometimes says turn left when it really means right. POI import is a struggle at best. Limited worldwide map availibility.
Sygic is not too bad. POIs must use the same database as Google, because when it's wrong in Google, it's wrong in Sygic. The Vehicle Icon is WAY too big; Sygic says that will be fixed soon. POI import from Mapsource is doable. Good worldwide map availability.
Overall: 1 to 10
Garmin 3790
. Software: 9
. Hardware: 8
Skyrocket GPS hardware: 9
. Google Maps Software: 6.5
. Co Pilot Software: 6
. Sygic Software: 7.5

I came from the Inspire. I am very impressed with the functionality of the GPS on this device. You shouldn't have an issue at all.
HTC = Hate The Consumer
I get great gps compared to my inspire. I cabn get 10 or 15 satellite's while sitting inside, never could do that with inspire. Also the wifi is pretty good and connects to my wifi at home almost instantly while my inspire didnt. I do however still love my inspire, it was a great first android device for me. Thanks again!
The GPS is phenomenal, I get 4 meter accuracy while indoors.

I agree with what others here are saying, the GPS is outstanding. Of course, I came from a Captivate so navigating by star chart would be better than that thing. I do not have the screen issues that other post about, but i have seen the pictures and it appears some phones do have serious screen issues. I am still amazed at the LTE speeds, cant go back to HSPA+ ... Good luck.
I get faster gps lock inside my house with my skyrocket than i did outside with my inspire. Everything on the skyrocket is smoother and faster than the inspire
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda premium
I can vouch for the GPS too. I came from the Captivate (had to get a bluetooth GPS receiver dongle for that POS because I travel on business frequently to cities I've not been to before).
Skyrocket got it right. Locks in seconds and tracks spot on. I haven't been to an urban area like NYC or San Francisco yet so no idea how well it works in those canyons.
^^^+1...came from Captivate, I use the GPS on my Skyrocket daily and am constantly in awe of how spot on it is.

I've been an HTC "Incredible" series user from the original now up to the 4G. Unfortunately, I'm going on my 4th replacement because the apps won't save to the phone storage and delete upon restarting. The internal storage is too small for the app amount I have. You can't save apps to SD either. I have a 64GB with a bunch of music so an SD slot is a must.
I've never been a Samsung fan but after watching reviews I'm blown away. Verizon owes me. If I can get the switch do you think I'll enjoy this phone? I'd like pros, cons, etc. Very disappointed with HTC. This seems like the only worthy android phone out there.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using xda app-developers app
The only big drawback of this phone is the bad reception. Which in turn causes battery drain. You should still be able to get 2-5 hours of screen on time anyways though. Just wished Samsung made better antennas because this would be a beast of a phone it they did.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
It's not bad reception for all. You will have 14 days to return. Before you get the phone, jot down your reception dbm in all of your usual places and then compare them. Not scientific by any means but it will at least give you an idea.
In my case, is +-5 compared to my old incredible. At work, where I don't have Wi-Fi, I get better.

My signal is hectic everywhere. I can walk a few feet and go from 4 bars to 1 bar. Many other people are experiencing similar issues to me. I even went to the vzw store and an employee who had the s3 said the same thing about the reception. It is an issue, some people just live in great service areas so its not a problem for them.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I moved from the original HTC Incredible to the S3 a few week ago and I've been very happy. I'm not having reception issues like the other (Verizon is very strong in my area). Before I switched I as using a version of CM9 for the Incredible. It was working well, but I was getting to the point where it rebooted itself every other day or so. You'll really like the speed and bigger screen of the S3.
If you like some of the features of sense (like Facebook images on your contacts) etc. I can give you some of the free app's I've been using to give you the same effect.
I've owned a couple of Verizon HTC Phones (Rezound, Thunderbolt) and I doubt I will go back to HTC. The GS3 beats the HTCs in just about everything I can think of, and the reception is better than both of my HTC phones (both in my home area and areas frequently traveled to).
I switched from my old Droid Incredible (the original) to the GS3 and I couldn't be happier. Any samsung baked-in stuff can always be flashed away if you don't like it.

What? If you're saying can't move apps to SD I don't care as long as there is 16gb to store them. I use my SD for music, pics, etc. The Inc 4G won't allow them to save to phone storage just the small 1gb internal storage. This is an issue that hasn't been fixed and I'm not gonna wait.

Thunderbolt to S3
I just got my S3 last week. Previously I was on a HTC Thunderbolt for 1.5 years. Man, what a difference. Everything is better, faster on the S3. I haven't noticed data drops or bad reception like others on the thread but that might be because my TBolt was so bad in this area anything would be a huge improvement.
There is some crapware on it, but not as bad as what I had on the HTC. To me it doesn't cross the line. The phone is so powerful that I don't feel any lag from the crapware.
Overall, I'm hugely impressed by my first Samsung phone. I won't be going back to HTC anytime soon. The only outstanding issue is a nice sdcard slot that can take a 64gb card and no way to move anything over to it besides the camera's photos. Looking into some hacks to get my spotify cache files moved over.

I also came from the original incredible and I have to say there are some things that you need to get used to. For example no more sense. However functionablity hands down goes to samsung. Picnpic is great use it like every other day and occasionally I use svoice (mostly for calling/texting people in my car). Lock screen for both HTC and Samsung are very similar. For whatever choice you make both companies make great phones.
