Have you tried it, as it may work out of the box, also this should be in Q&A

I hear it works fine in the dock.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry wrong area posted. I was confused with size of the card that would be able to be read and used on my Infinity. Got it figured out. Not sure why they didn't put a USB port on this. It sure would work great for large files. I realize the docking station you can buy as an add-on feature has the USB option.

MicroSD question

Say I buy a 64gb MicroSD
I put 64gb of movies on it.
Can I watch all that 64gb of movies?
The tablet says it only recognizes up to 32gb more...which I don't understand.
No. The size of the card is too large for the tablet to support!!

Another question
Do I have to drag the movies onto the internal storage in order to watch the movies, or can I just open them from the MicroSD
Honestly, I think you should be fine with a 64GB card. The Galaxy S3 only officially supports 32GB max, but no one's had any problems using 64GB cards. Don't worry about what the tablet's specs say the max is. Just try a 64GB card. I'm willing to bet that it'll work just fine.
Also, the movies should play just fine from the card. No need to move them.
I'm afraid the tablet will not recognize sdcard:screwy:

I was hoping this was the case. I've yet to run into any android phone that could not support all 64gb of my sandisk. Glad to know this is no different

Officially, the TF300 can accept up to a 32GB micro SDHC. There has been confirmation that some 64GB micro SDXC cards have worked as well. All the ones I have tried have worked, but officially, the specs say 32GB.
And to answer the OP, if your 64GB does work, you can transfer the movies to the internal memory or you can watch straight from the card. It's up to you.

Hi,
I have TF201 and a 64GB (Sandisk microSD class 10) and it works perfectly. Comes preformated with exFAT and I am using it "out of the box".
Watching directly from the card. I have for about 2 moths now.
Hope this helps
I got my tf300 a couple weeks ago and my sandisk 64 seems to work fine. Annoyingly, Asus thinks I need to know that there is an external card in and displays that in the notifications but it's not the cards fault lol

[Q] [Verizon] Apps to SD

Anyone working on a rom with apps to sd as an option? My local Verizon store only had the 16 gb Instock and have no time frame for getting the 32gb within my 14 day return policy. Would like to be able to move apps to sd.

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. I am guessing he has two phones.
OP has a very good question. Since Google's new security implementation on external cards and Samsung's treatment of it on the S3, the External SD card has limited use.

CM9 has a patch for it however that is the only fix for it I have seen so far. OP you can get around the problem for now with:

Yes I have multiple phones. Did not realize posting from iPad was going to get me "called out". Thanks for the link to the work around.

There are apps in the play store that allow moving apps to sd but from everything I read you don't want to use them

Why not both?
it depands on how much data you want to carey aournd with your infinity
I went with one 32gb microsd and 64gb SD Card that I laying around and provides all of the storage I need. I do have a 500 DB external HD but don't use it. I love that both cards sit flush into the transformer infinity unlike the prime I had previously.
i have a 64gb micro, and a 64gb sd in mines. Plus i have a couple of usb thumb drives. Do you plan to take the portable every where you go?

Thanks for all your replies. But mainly I was thinking of just using the portable hard drive to watch large file mkv movies.

the SD works fine. No issues with that at all. Its in the dock.
The microsd, when formatted to ntfs or exfat32, gives me issues when copying stuff to it. so i reformatted to fat32 until a fix comes out.

I have one of those, but cannot get it to work, even if formatted to FAT32.
What allocation unit size did you use ?
Depends on how much storage you need, I prefer to have an microSD card in the tablet and an SD card in the dock all the time for easily removable storage.
Another factor you should consider is the filesystem. NTFS performs rather poorly under Android in general and under Infinity's .26 firmware in particular, so I'd go with exFAT on any external storage you'll be using with it.

I wish also to buy the same product but i'm afraid to buy with ebay or other seller and to receipt a fake or bad copy ... I'm from Belgium and i search the best secure seller for me ...
Your SD card is in classe 10 but for the micro SD Sandisk, it's only classe 6 ==> micro sd in classe 10 doesn't work with TF700 ?
Why do you want so much space? My 700 has a 32GB micro SD, and I barely fill it up. In the dock, I have a 64gb Class 10 and I dont even touch it. Are you storing lots of music and videos? See, I keep my videos at home on Plex Media Server and stream to my tablet. I just keep a couple local ones for if I'm out of range of the interwebs. I also keep a couple of gbs of music on the micro-SD, but most of it is up on Google Music and/or dropbox.

Class doesnt matter to much when in the device. Its more for when transferring to and from a PC. Try buying from Amazon or Newegg.

Not true. It does matter, my sequential reads and writes are up to 2x faster with a class 10 microSD card than on a class 4 card, same capacity.
I realize this might not be entirely helpful but my honest choice is neither. This is simply because I have no need for even 64GB of storage on my tablet. I don't store movies on my tablet.
If I absolutely had to choose, then I would easily pick the SD card. One reason, obviously, is because I don't even need the 64GB in the first place, let alone 500GB. The other reason is because of portability. You can just stick the SD card in there and leave it in. Don't have to worry about carrying around the hard drive or forgetting it.
1 TB Oyen Digital Drive. $119.99 shipped and Prime eligible.
Not many people are familiar with Oyen but I have a couple of their drives and I love 'em. Very thin form factor and the ones I own have been reliable thus far (almost a year since first purchase). WD drives in Oyen bodies.
I actually don't own the one I listed here, but I'm sure it's just as good as their others. This is the latest USB 3 and looks like its in the same chassis as the others I have (thin and sleek).

It's a SanDisk. Ordered it on Amazon but took a month to get it. Must be short supply or high demand......or both

You may have to reformat the sdcard FAT32. It comes preformatted exFAT, and I am not sure which ROMS/kernels, if any, support exFAT since it's proprietary. I reformattwd my SanDisk 128g card to run in my M8.
UPDATE: But see my post below updating.
It works fine on stock clean Rom... just don't change the kernel out it won't work as exFAT
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I tried to use it "out of the box" on the Skyfall Rom. It wasn't recognized.

CodeCraft CheckM8 kernel v10 now supports exFAT. I am running it on stock.

I have used it on clean rom, insert coin, and skyfall and it worked on all with no special formatting, even in TWRP. It's the Sandisk one.
I am using one on mine on stock ROM with CodeCraft's overclocked v10 kernel. It is formatted exFAT, but before that kernel supported exFAT I had it running formatted FAT32.

Sigh forgot Google hates external storage and does not like exfat.
You know I almost went bonkers wondering why it wouldn't see an 8gb card from my camera...
