Hi
I know in settings you can stop it from launching camera when locked, but I want it to not launch it at all.
Reason: When running I often push it by mistake and then it thows off my GPS (endomundo).
Wondering if there is a registry edit for it anyone knows of.
Read the Registry Tweaks thread on the dev&hacking forum; I found the registry key controlling the camera button's behavior just last night. I believe it's HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Camera, though I may be misremembering. Renaming or clearing out the "Application" registry value at that key should do the trick. You'll need to reboot afterward. I haven't tested this (I tested changing the button's function but not disabling it) so no guarantees, but it's worth a try.

I am having an absolute FIT with the damn keyboard light on my 750! It gos off after about 5 seconds, and THAT is ridiculous! I was told by a source at Palm there IS a registry entry to fix this, but he could not divulge the info (I did tell him I was open to receiving an anonymous email, but haven't seen it yet!)
Anyone have any ideas? He said it was the same one that worked on the TyTn/Hermes/8525 but I have not found it yet....
Help??
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyLedTimeout. The number of seconds is usually set to default at 10. you can make it any number you like. Mine is set at 20.
I wonder if this also relates to my current issue too - can anyone comment?
The backlight on my Treo 750's keyboard refuses to come on IN USE - however I'm fairly convinced it's not a hardware issue; when performing a soft reset the keypad lights up fine during the boot cycle.
It's as if there's a registry entry that sets the "turn off keypad light after" value to 0 (i.e; always off).
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Steve
Found It in WM5
I traded in my WM6 phone for a Treo 750 with WM5 - wow, everything is where it should be, and the phone works the way it should!
As far as the On-Off issue, Steve, I see that in line in my phone - the key is set to 1, so I would try changing that:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyOnOff change it from 0 to 1
Let me know - this could be my first crack at helping someone else out!!
I have a question. I can not seem to find the registry edit area for the Treo 750 running WM6. Can you help me in giving me some instructions on getting to this so I can edit the file to keep the keyboard lights on for longer than a few seconds?
on my kaiser it's set to 30 by default.

Hi there,
There is no default registry editor on WM devices, so you will have to install one if you want to make any changes. You will find a few built into well known commercial apps such as MemMaid and Resco Explorer (I've used both and they work fine on WM6). There may also be some free ones around.
To all Wizard gurus,
I have recently flashed my G3 Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) with Windows Mobile 6.1 Octavioi ROM. I am very happy with the ROM, but I'm having a problem with others hearing me.
I think I've read somewhere here that you can adjust your microphone by modifying the registry or something, but I've been searching for literally hours and can't find any threads on this topic.
Also note that background noise seems to be OVER-emphasized while my voice seems very UNDER-emphasized.
PLEASE HELP; it would be great if I could get these settings adjusted and start really enjoying my phone.
For the sake of future searchers, I'm including some keywords below:
mic microphone adjust adjustment adjusting gain sensitivity volume increase decrease mouthpiece
hey, try to use battery-status and set application based overclocking
and put there phone and use 195MHz
i find that when i used overclocking a lot of people have problems to hear me clearly - and that option in b-s helped me - give it a try.
***UPDATE***
It looks as if I need an 'extended' version of this application to do application-specific overclocking. Does anyone know if Battery Status Extended is available for or compatible with the Wizard (running WM6)?
pleasehelp said:
Thank you for the tip; I downloaded Battery Status and installed it, and I have it actively working on my system, but for some reason I cannot access application-specific clock settings.
Can you either tell me how to do this, or show me a thread where I can find this information?
Thanks a mil...

The registry changes suggested in this thread worked for me:

i've had problems with microphone in my wizard. basically, people complained, that they can't hear me very well. i also found these registry keys, did some tests and changed RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME and EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME values to CC. after that change, microphone sensitivity got better and didn't receive any more complaints.

Also looking for the same fix. It seems most people replied for a volume adjustment for the output and not mic adjustment for input being over sensitive (also causes feedback/screeching). Thanks.
Hi, I've posted this in lowyat.net forum, but I wish to post this here as well, because I think this is a very significant tweak. Anyways, this method was originally found in this forum, just that I think no one suggested this method to speed up the Touch Pro.
Here comes the tweak:
I've been facing this issue where the SIP menu (aka input menu), takes like 2 seconds to popup when you want to switch the input method, making me wonder if I didn't manage to press the little triangle... My old PDA didn't have such an issue.
So after some searching, I found this:
give it a shoot , Get a registry editor ,
1. Export HKCR\CLSID (will save to a *.reg file)
2. Del or Rename HKCR\CLSID
3. Import the backup of HKCR\CLSID
Turn off your device about 15 sec and reset
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...t=301433&page=1
And yup, it works!! The SIP menu is now very responsive, and the system is now faster, and more responsive. Games do not lag anymore, especially the old ones.
Anyway, I didn't have to reset to see the effect.
In that thread, someone suggested the renaming method. Actually I used that method, but found that I can't rename the CLSID back because the system created another one. Luckily my Resco Registry Explorer allows me to copy and paste the keys from the old folder into the new folder. If not, it'll mean another hard reset. And one more thing, DO NOT SOFT RESET BEFORE YOU GET THE CLSID BACK!! "Turn off" in the thread means sleep, cuz unlike our TP, old PDAs cannot really be "turned off". It's best to backup your PDA before performing this procedure.
Anyone tried this fix?
SIP changing is really quick now. The device seems to be faster, but maybe it's a "placebo effect". Thanks for the tip, something helps this.
Some magic. It really works.
Thank you.
Thats Awesome
Wow! This tweak works perfect! BIG THANK for posting this here!
Btw,I know about this already few years, from that time I have tested HTC Himalaya, but I never tried it till now.
well, i think it works.
but i am not sure.
like mentioned in this thread, it could be a placebo effect.
cause i have not reset my TP for a while.
and after this tweak you have to reset, and after a reset the TP is always a little bit faster.
but if you aplly this tweak as instructed, nothing can go wrong so......
if you don`t try you`ll never know

As I said,SIP changing is really fast now,so at least one benefit you get. Before was 3-5 seconds, now <1s.
sorry to be a bother. but with PHM regedit i held my cursor over the CLSID key in the registry rather than making a backup. I did an export. stupidly I deleted the key instead of renaming it. now when i try to import the key back in, first off the import choice in tools is greyed out and when i try restore and selecting the file I get "error". I'm hoping if all CLSID's are the same someone would be kind enough to bail me out by uploading their CLSID backup.
thanks in advance

update: false alarm, solved it.
I too did this tweak, and did notice that in my threaded SMS, opening the QWERTY had an immediate response. I'm about 2 hours since I've done it, so I will see how this is going this time tomorrow. I hope this is perminant, and I see this response delay with the input method gone forever.
THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Awesome post for someone new to this forum!! Thanks a lot! System does seem faster. I have an old game, Warfare Inc, that I still like to play once in awhile. Hasn't run smoothly on my TP until now.
I tried this but all hell broke loose! now my tp wont even start.. so im guessing something went terribly wrong.. now i have to hard reset the thing. and loos all my stuff in there.
at first everything was ok! but later I spoted that GPS reception was totally lost - no fix enymore! Reinstaling NETCF3.5 seems to fix it.

Here you go
does it work on htc diamond? was wondering if anyone experiences the lag when typing with phone keypad.. the words 'take their time' to appear.
I tried and my TP wouldn't boot. Had to hard-reset. I made sure the CLSID key was re-created before I did a soft-reset.
Hmm, what does this tweak actually do? export and import your registry settings?
I'm unclear as to how that's making anything better?
this also hosed up my TP. Wont boot. Have to restore it now errrr
Those with "hosed" TP's make sure you really export the reg file, and not copy/paste. I could not find the option in the reg part of Total Commander so I used TRE, another free reg edit tool found on this forum many years ago Please search for it as it is so simple to use. Would have uploaded for you, but am not using my regular pc
I think that we don't even need to export and import the reg key. It seems to me like only rename the key (ex CLSIDold) and renaming it back (CLSID) then shut down for some seconds, works too.
It looks like working to me that way. Now SIP change takes one sec.
WOW !!!
Hello! i've tried searching but nothing came up. there was one question but it was never answered - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=278

SmartTouch Registry Settings
I would try playing around (but not too much) with the SmartTouch Registry Settings, to see if adjusting any of them help. It may be possible to completely remove Messaging from SmartTouch, though I can't find a registry entry that pertains to it, specifically. It could be this one:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Outlook Email]
"WheelCount"=dword:00000002
"Mode"=dword:00000004
"ClassName"="Inbox.MainWnd"
You can try deleting that entire key, soft reset, and see if it still adjusts the Text size.
You may also want to try reducing the sensitivity of the SmartTouch. These registry entries *may* have something to do with that (though I'm just guessing here):
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch]
"FirstThreshold"=dword:00000008
"Threshold"=dword:00000008
Report back if any of those keys had an effect.
thank you, i'll carefully try...
still resizes. all it did is that i cant use touch pad to scroll up/down in the inbox

Did you try reducing the threshhold values also?
what value would make it less sensitive? . it is quite sensitive.
what value....
Not responsible
U can try this, but im not responsible if you have to hard reset your phone.
Using advanced config:
Menu>More Settings>SmartTouch
Delete Outlook Email
OK>Done>Yes to reset.
Let me know if that works for you.

You caught me. That's where I got the idea to see if it was listed by advanced config. wasnt sure how comfortable he was with registry editing.
Can I disable in any way middle button (home/window/start) on my device? Is there any registry value to disable this button? Or maybe some hack? I have LG E900 with installed MFG app. In this app I can see that it can test use of hardware buttons, so probably it's possible to block this middle button in some way.
I'd need to decompile and examine the MFG app, but yes, it's probably possible.
Out of curiosity, why that key in particular? Usually, people are complaining about Search (or sometimes Back) much more.
I wan to create application that user cannot leave. I already found that I can disable Search button. Back button is no problem, because WP7 SDK support cancelling using it.
Don't forget to also block camera, volume, long-press on Back (which the SDK does not officially let you block), and power...
No offense, but if you can't come up with a better use case than that, it's going to be really low on my priority list. I've currently got (not really in order):
Re-implement SetKMode for HaRET.
Fix HtcRoot on multi-threaded apps.
Enable full-unlock on stock ROMs with HtcRoot.
Enable custom policies with HtcRoot.
Explore the AppMgr databases, see what I can learn and what I can tweak.
Find an interop-unlock that works on gen2 HTC (and hopefully others).
Find a way to use HtcUtility (a working version, for HtcRoot) on up-to-date stock ROMs.
Explore modifying ROM files using HtcRoot.
Release the next version of Root Webserver.
Update my MultiTaskToggle app.
Polish up and release my AppDataBackup app (and PC utility).
Release XapInstaller app for stock ROMs (HtcRoot).
Figure out what the hell is going on with DllImport (P/Invoke - some marketplace apps can use it?!?).
... I'm honestly losing track. I know there's more. Some are small and silly, some are huge and will take months.

you can't disable middle button (home/window/start) but you can turn off vibrate with Registry code :
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\KeyState]
"application_btn_vibrate3"=dword:1
