Factory Cable Clarification - Motorola Atrix 2

Ok this is my first thread on this forum, if this was said before, I did search!
Feel free to lock or delete mods if this has been said.
Ok, I have seen a couple of people asking about factory cables. They think that it will unbrick their devices, IT WONT. The factory cable is NOT meant to unbrick a hard brick.
Now that is clarified, let's see what is the factory cable is really for. The factory cable will provide operating power to the phone without a battery while connected to a PC. Why do I need this? To avoid the McGyver method. This method is dangerous. (messed up my battery.) The cable can be used to FXZ when the battery does not work. Hold the Volume buttons and power before connecting the cable then it will enter boot loader. Select AP Fastboot and FXZ away! With NO battery!
So if you softbrick without the battery working, this is your solution!
there is already threads on how to get one, but I never saw one teaching how to use one.

you just plug in your phone or kindle fire booting,it is easy‘’! do not need other setup。

On this phone it doesn't force it to fasboot. So you need to do it manually.

[Q] Flash wrong ROM = brick?

Hello all,
I need a Genius to help!
I flash wrong ROM to my Galaxy S 4GS T959V, I think I flash Galaxy S 9000 ROM, and I think I destroy the boot loader.
The status of the phone is:
its not display a thing! nada blank screen!
Even if I take the battery out and put it back with volume up and down pushed the screen not blink!
In all the cases above if I connect the USB cable the computer does not make a sound of device connected, like nothing as connected to the computer
Can anybody know what to do in this case?
Sounds like a hard brick. Mine hard bricked recently, time to get a replacement unless you got a riff box, or find someone who does.
Raver posted a thread in the dev section on a possible way to fix a hard brick. Check that out and see if it helps.

but how can they know? the phone is hard brick!
Trust me. They know.
What i did was. Keep repeating the process
1. take out battery
2. plug phone in computer
3. put in battery while holding up+down volume buttons
4. if you cant get into download mode, repeat process.
*Take out usb cable, take out batery and start over. It eventually worked for me. Took like 40 tries.
Idk. It miggt just be me, but this is how i did it and i saved my phone. P.s. Make sure you have life left in your battery!

Thanks
I didn't try 40 times but when I tried more then 10 and connected to Linux console to see if there is any activity from the USB plug, its was dead, nothing.. the USB didn't have even ID or any meaningful information or any indication that something is a live there...
I will return it to the warranty, hope they will not see it.

How to unbrick Samsung droid Charge!!

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-...are-on-samsung-droid-charge-installing-guide/ )..
In case it fails and it just keeps failing try this other file is not stock but it is 2.3.4 and it works great here is a link to find the file ( http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5PUB8UY7 ) and it also find a mirror download here ( https://rapidshare.com/#!download|9...ar.md5.7z|391371|RapidPro expired. (34fa3175) ) i tried it guys and it does work.
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.
Thanks for posting this, but it isn't the end-all-be-all. I tried to recover from a bad flash using this method and it failed.
I got the error message seen in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
The method in that post failed to help me recover.
I finally found this method (which is linked much later on in the thread above):
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-full-factory-tar-flashing-software.html
and it worked perfectly for me.
So, if the first method from the OP fails, you have the Samsung PST flash utility that may help.
Yea i was also getting that message at first but it worked fine, but i also ended up installing the 2.3.4 so it worked out well.. was able to fix and unbrick my Droid charge.
I think this is already in a thread here...

We've known about this for a while, but thanks. There's a "How to fix your phone" thread in development which also includes a pit file you use in combination with that .md5
Also, you were probably just bootlooped, not bricked.
Thanks Guys for the input. I thought i was bricked, looked to me i was bricked... But i did this steps and was able to fix my droid charge... I did bot know there was a threath about this on here.. just trying to help people fix their phone if this can be helpful for them that's good.

yeah but even then its not completely hopeless, there are USB jigs that can force it into download mode and this 'Unbrickable Mod' thing that requires tinkering with the internals which is supposedly fool proof

I've seen the term "bricked" thrown about a lot so I'm going to clarify some things.
First of all, there are two types of brick, a soft-brick and a hard-brick.
Soft-brick, that's what people often say when they have a boot-loop. This isn't a brick in the traditional sense. It's not really a brick, you can still recover it if you're at this stage. As long as you can get to the screen with the big yellow triangle you're not bricked at all and you can recover it.
Hard-brick, this is a true brick. This is what happens when the phone will not do anything. Won't show the Samsung logo, won't show the yellow triangle screen, won't do anything at all. At this stage, it might as well be a brick because you can't do anything to it. JTAG should be able to reload the bootloader and the base firmware.

well that's bootlooping not a soft brick, a soft brick would be when you flash something wrong or stop odin mid flash or flash something corrupted then get that little "phone --- ! --- pc" thing (done it twice myself) but yes it is recoverable
permabrick is indeed when it won't power on or do anything, it is a paperweight
hard brick is usually when it won't go into download mode but may still boot up or even go into recovery (probably just bootloops though), however as I mentioned in my last post none of these situations are completely hopeless

[Q] my phone is totally failed. Some may help me

Hi Experts,
This month, I updated my galaxy s 4g to Onecosmic's ICS rom from Gb KI1(rooted) by using installation mod from sd card. Couple of min later, my phone was go into boot loop. Only display googl and samsung logo togglely. So, I tried to recover a phone from this sitution but phone does not go into recovery mod anymore. Only can go into download mod. So I want to return GB again by using Odin with GB rom.
This is stupid thing what I've done. After this my phone is totally dead. Current situtions are like these.
1. USB bricked. My computer does not recognize phone anymore.
2. Power button does not work - This means, I can't power on anymore.
3. Impossible to caharge battery. I was using both of the wall charger and via usb cable but not charging-battery charge indicator not appear.
I thing I messed up rom software. Is there any expert can help me out of this situation?
I would highly appreciate if someone could help me.
There is no ics for the sgs4g. I believe what you flashed is a vibrant rom. Completely different phone. This is why you're bricked, or at least semi bricked right now.
As for fixing it, it's going to be quite hard, if possible at all, from the sounds of it...

If you flashed from your device it is recoverable. Before proceeding Please pull your battery, locate your model number and post it.

This is a haven's sound!!! Thank you Bassmanjames.
my phone's carrier is t-mobile. Model is SGS 4g t959v. From the back of phone is SGH T959V. I wish you save me.
For next time(and for the benefit of all new users that will read this while searching for other things) - Please read This phone is NOT the Vibrant or any other Galaxy- it's the Galaxy S 4G.
Try to get into download mode - here is a guide.
if you succeed - there is hope.
Not work
Thanks Alon2. Now I fully understand about my phone. This is different with any other Galaxy. O.K, but you are not fully understand my situation. My phone is dead. This means I can't get a active screen. So, I don't know my phone is go into download mode or not. Only I do know is, if I connect usb cable to my phone, my computer makes a error sound. This means, usb connection is bricked. if a computer recognize a phone, I can use odin or other program to reinstall the os.
Thank you.

Ooh wait just re read op, he said he can't get into recovery but can get into dl mode.
If you can get into dl mode try to odin something else. If your computer won't sense the phone try using different usb ports. If you absolutely can't get it to read, try to odin or heimdall anyway without. I've gotten it to work before.

Thank guys,
There's a little bit confusion with the situation what I have. So I need to re-describe it.
1. Phone dead means I can't make power the phone on. Even I press power button several times, phone does not response. I don't know why. I read some articles, that said phone met certain situation, it drains battery power very quickly-even not at all.
2.So I replace the battery which is good working with other phone, still I can not power the phone on. ---screen is black.
3. Connect the usb cable to phone, My computer does not recognize a phone. Computer said, usb device error. I re-installed samsung usb driver to computer, same thing happen. IF phone is able to connect computer, I can use odin and do some thing. This means internal USB connection driver(may be) is damaged, I think.
4. SO, WITHOUT POWER & SCREEN & NO CONNECTION TO COMPUTER, I can not do any thing.
There is some article which describer how to recover bricked phone's usb connection, but that's for the HTC desire not for SGS.

Solution
seems like ur rom chip in the motherboard has gone bad. same happened to me when trying to flash custom rom to AT&T atrix 2. Went to Motorola service center costed me $160 to get a new motherboard ...but it got fixed and worth the effort....worth a try...
So i was flash the wrong rom.
But i can't flash again because i cannot enter the AP Fastboot, both vol button n power on do nothing.

Maybe your battery is empty. Never start to flash without full battery (and not correct rom of course).
If you're feeling brave, try THIS...
Thanks for the feedback.
So i can still hold both vol button + power up to enter the bootloader if i flash fail?
I remember it stuck at 5/21 in RSDlite.

No, the bootloader is locked on the MB865. You mentioned before that trying to boot into AP Fastboot isn't responsive either, right? If you are able to do anything, you need to flash 5.5.1-EDEM-27-MEARET_cfc.xml.zip as xanadu suggested.
Always a good idea to make a CWM backup before flashing any new roms, just in case...
LOCKED??
I think my battery is empty so it black screen when i press the button.
And i got many cwm backup which i backup before my phone cannot boot.

If you're completely dead in the water, you'll have to find a way to get charge to the battery. You might try The McGuyver Method to get a charge to battery, but be very wary in doing this -you could fry your phone and/or explode your battery. If you're not comfortable doing this (and I don't recommend this if you are not savvy with electrical stuff and 'open phone surgery' you should first try and get your hands on a new OEM battery!

Before you ship your device off to the netherworld of Motorubbish, try getting a new battery. It may be a faster fix and you won't have to deal with wait tine from Moto. Plus, if you've rooted and Moto is able to determine that you'll have no warranty.

Also if you are debating getting a new battery, try to get an external charger, it costs a lot less and you will be able to recover from this a whole lot easier if you have the external charger, otherwise McGyver is the only way out for you...
I would NOT take this into Motorola, especially since you failed a flash, they can see that, the first time they get it to turn on it will go to the recovery screen and say failed flash.... They may NOT give you any support.
I would try the external battery charger.

thats your best bet unless you know someone with the same phone. I have a family member with the same one, so when I killed my battery during a flash I just stole that one for 5 minutes.

I think I'm bricked, what should I do?

I flashed a Jellybean touchwiz rom for Verizon GS3, and went to reboot and now nothing, zero zip nada. No charging led light, no way to get into recovery and no response.
Anything I can do?
what happens when you do vol up + home+power button?
Absolutely nothing. I tried to get back into the recovery to see if I could restore my backup and nope.
did you try leave it pluged in for 30mins ?
does it vibrate once when you try to turn it on?
No vibrating and no sign of life at all. Even when plugged into my computer, I was going to try the unbrick guide but it listed that I should be able to get into the recovery still.

do you have a usb jig?
I don't have a USB jig but this is possibly good news. I removed the battery and SD card and plugged it into my computer and it tried to install drivers (failed but tried) and the led light comes on red.
if your gettin led now you more then likely need to let it charge

Yeah, haha. I saw it and mentally prepared myself for it. Literally just got the phone today so Verizon had no qualms with just sending me a new phone. Guess I'm reactivating my Rezound in the meantime. Thanks for the help guys.
you know
I am surprised. That also happened to me the first time i flashed that very same rom (touchwiz) with twrp . I have done this so many times , i literarily can flash a rom on the way to work .
I was in shock , i still dont know how the heck can i flash a rom and brick .
I plugged mine into windows and i got the device manager driver error from hell . and my phone never came back up again
I stayed away form twrp and touchwiz and i still cant possibly comprehend how a simple rom flash can brick my phone .
Which ROM did you flash?

you could probably send it to get Jtag'ed for around $60 if your warranty is invalid (ie used device)
You just hard bricked it. I did the same thing. Check here - post 5 shows the same symptoms :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770341

So, in the future, md5 checksum absolutely everything since I'm assuming now that that is why this happened? (Since I made doubly sure I was flashing a rom for my phone).
If you still have the file you downloaded, you can check it. That would answer that question. If it checks out fine, then we have to look elsewhere for the problem.
BTW, MobileTechVideos.com can bring you back - based on my experience with them, I highly recommend.

Was there any unusual condition you can think of ... low battery, USB connected to computer or to charger, etc?
