[Q] Flash wrong ROM = brick? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hello all,
I need a Genius to help!
I flash wrong ROM to my Galaxy S 4GS T959V, I think I flash Galaxy S 9000 ROM, and I think I destroy the boot loader.
The status of the phone is:
its not display a thing! nada blank screen!
Even if I take the battery out and put it back with volume up and down pushed the screen not blink!
In all the cases above if I connect the USB cable the computer does not make a sound of device connected, like nothing as connected to the computer
Can anybody know what to do in this case?

Sounds like a hard brick. Mine hard bricked recently, time to get a replacement unless you got a riff box, or find someone who does.

Raver posted a thread in the dev section on a possible way to fix a hard brick. Check that out and see if it helps.

but how can they know? the phone is hard brick!

Trust me. They know.
What i did was. Keep repeating the process
1. take out battery
2. plug phone in computer
3. put in battery while holding up+down volume buttons
4. if you cant get into download mode, repeat process.
*Take out usb cable, take out batery and start over. It eventually worked for me. Took like 40 tries.
Idk. It miggt just be me, but this is how i did it and i saved my phone. P.s. Make sure you have life left in your battery!

can you write a links? I don't find those methods
Thanks

I didn't try 40 times but when I tried more then 10 and connected to Linux console to see if there is any activity from the USB plug, its was dead, nothing.. the USB didn't have even ID or any meaningful information or any indication that something is a live there...
I will return it to the warranty, hope they will not see it.

How to unbrick Samsung droid Charge!!

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-...are-on-samsung-droid-charge-installing-guide/ )..
In case it fails and it just keeps failing try this other file is not stock but it is 2.3.4 and it works great here is a link to find the file ( http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5PUB8UY7 ) and it also find a mirror download here ( https://rapidshare.com/#!download|9...ar.md5.7z|391371|RapidPro expired. (34fa3175) ) i tried it guys and it does work.
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.
Thanks for posting this, but it isn't the end-all-be-all. I tried to recover from a bad flash using this method and it failed.
I got the error message seen in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
The method in that post failed to help me recover.
I finally found this method (which is linked much later on in the thread above):
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-full-factory-tar-flashing-software.html
and it worked perfectly for me.
So, if the first method from the OP fails, you have the Samsung PST flash utility that may help.
Yea i was also getting that message at first but it worked fine, but i also ended up installing the 2.3.4 so it worked out well.. was able to fix and unbrick my Droid charge.
I think this is already in a thread here...

We've known about this for a while, but thanks. There's a "How to fix your phone" thread in development which also includes a pit file you use in combination with that .md5
Also, you were probably just bootlooped, not bricked.
Thanks Guys for the input. I thought i was bricked, looked to me i was bricked... But i did this steps and was able to fix my droid charge... I did bot know there was a threath about this on here.. just trying to help people fix their phone if this can be helpful for them that's good.

look in the dev section for the 'Unbrickable Mod', theres a guy who'll do it for 40 bucks I think
I thought being bricked meant not being able to get into even Download Mode.

yeah but even then its not completely hopeless, there are USB jigs that can force it into download mode and this 'Unbrickable Mod' thing that requires tinkering with the internals which is supposedly fool proof

I've seen the term "bricked" thrown about a lot so I'm going to clarify some things.
First of all, there are two types of brick, a soft-brick and a hard-brick.
Soft-brick, that's what people often say when they have a boot-loop. This isn't a brick in the traditional sense. It's not really a brick, you can still recover it if you're at this stage. As long as you can get to the screen with the big yellow triangle you're not bricked at all and you can recover it.
Hard-brick, this is a true brick. This is what happens when the phone will not do anything. Won't show the Samsung logo, won't show the yellow triangle screen, won't do anything at all. At this stage, it might as well be a brick because you can't do anything to it. JTAG should be able to reload the bootloader and the base firmware.

well that's bootlooping not a soft brick, a soft brick would be when you flash something wrong or stop odin mid flash or flash something corrupted then get that little "phone --- ! --- pc" thing (done it twice myself) but yes it is recoverable
permabrick is indeed when it won't power on or do anything, it is a paperweight
hard brick is usually when it won't go into download mode but may still boot up or even go into recovery (probably just bootloops though), however as I mentioned in my last post none of these situations are completely hopeless

You're supposed to put in the battery for it to turn on....
But seriously, there's a thread for it in the dev section, but just hope you're good at soldering.

I tried everything battery in and out to get into download mode. Ended up finding a post somewhere and read that i should try a usb jig; which is why im guessing if you asked if i was good at soldering. To answer that question yes i am good at it. But i called verizon and they ended up sending me a replacement. Thanks for the guys who tried to help me out.

[Q] Galaxy Mini hard bricked by ROM manager

I installed ROM manager on my 2.3.6 gingerbread rooted SGM and clicked back up ROM. The device went totally dead and it wont show ANY signs of life whatsoever. So pressing any of the buttons combo wont work. The phone seems to be dead for real. I did manage to make Odin detect it even if the device seems to have no power and looks like its turned off. But it will not let Odin establish connection to it to flash a new OS on it.
Is there anything I can do? Have anyone solved this brick by now since is see a lot of people having this issue?
Can you pull the battery.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Like how? I have pulled the battery out and put it back in with no result. Or did you mean to pull it out in a certain manner?
Ok, Does the battery charge when plugged in? Do you have another battery?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
No,the phone is totally dead. Like as if it would have no battery in. None of the button combos won't work on it. But if i press the emergency download mode button the Odin detects the device even if it seems dead,so the phone is alive i guess. But when i start Odin it starts the tread but get stuck on connecting.
All I know is basic trouble shooting,
I know Moto won't flash with out a good charged battery. Is there a forum for your phone here. Or try googling oden for info. Sorry i can't help more.
Good Luck

As far as I have read so far my motherboard needs to be replaced. Tis is a ultra hard brick. People that got their galaxy mini bricked by ROM manager had to visit service center.. Hope they can't find out what happened. Thx for the replies!
Good reason to not use rom manager

Got the phone back after 4 days, motherboard replaced, free of charge.
brick?
Hello.
i,ve installed rom manager and tried to make an backup of my rom.
my phone turned black and now its useless
anyone knows how to fix this ( galaxy mini gt s 5570 gbread 2.35 rooted)
i've tried to use odin but got no idea how to use it
anyone can help me?!!?
(phone has still 1 from the 2 years of warranty is this still valid or is it gone because of the root?)
It's hard bricked, you can do nothing, it's no use. Get it to service center saying that you dropped it and it wont turn on. dont say that you rooted your device. I've had this hardbrick too.
took it to the service center now waiting for them to fix it they said it could take several weeks.......

Don't give up. As long as are able to see something on the screen, you should be able to get it back to its feet. This series of phones are kinda hard to brick.

Just saying its better to start fresh, that way there's no issues, if you have one from a bad flash you'll probally get more.

I've had mine to the point where it wouldn't display anything, just kept trying to put it in download mode and useOdin or the other popular UN bricking software (don't remember the name but it's on here) had to reinstall the boot loader also and bam fixed
Or you can buy a USB jig which if I'm understanding correctly is supposed to fix your exact issue , you can get them for $2, off Ebay

Confirm if it is Soft or Hard bricked. If the tutorial for unbricking a soft brick works you are back to normal and it was just soft. If not, it is hard bricked :crying: .... That means you cannot bring it in since the warranty was voided after root. First try recovery mode and install another rom... It might work.

If it is confirmed hard bricked
1. buy /borrow a usb jig (u can also make one) search xda.. There is a post with names of devs who can give usb jigs.. Search it
Usb jig forces ur phone into download mode.. Then use odin to install stock rom
2.use jtag repair...search on google..it's not good to fool samsung when mistake is yours!!

Or, if a jig doesn't work and you don't want to risk criminal charges for fraud, just have it JTAG repaired - many reviews on how fast and easy the process is and they don't care that you messed up the phone yourself.
Accountability is so cool. It's awesome not to try to screw people over because you made a mistake.

[Q] Bricked during root process?

Hi. I just got my galaxy s3 and was following directions for rooting so I could try out some of the ROMS.
I was following the directions in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-tQ05Zo_9U) and in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439)
I was on Step 2 of the thread (Step 2 - Flashing VRALEC Bootchain to allow Custom Recovery). Watching the video I thought the phone should reset more quickly so I tried to press the power button and unplugged the usb. Now the phone won't turn on, but when I plug in the usb to the computer I hear the connection and disconnection sound (when I unplug). Did I brick my phone? Not sure what to do from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just watched some more videos are realized it was a fifteen minute process that I should have waited for. I have a feeling my phone is done (I can't even get into download mode anymore), but if anyone has any direction I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Does it not boot up at all? About the only thing I could suggest is removing the battery then trying to boot into download mode again. You know this now but you're never supposed to do anything once Odin starts flashing files. Just let our sit until it's done. When you plug it into a computer, do you receive a prompt for a qhusb download driver or something to that effect?

I had the same problem once. And like the last person said take the battery out and and put it back in while attempting to enter download mode.. Don't give in and keep trying you should be able to unless hardware damage occurred.... Or try putting into recovery mode.. Those 2 options should still be available unless you damaged the phone
