I need HELP!!! noob here and i tried to flash froyo 2.2 onto my mesmerize like an idiot! had no idea what i was doing, so if the phone is unrepairable , its my own fault. please save the bashing on me, trust me i know im an idiot!! ok what i did was try to flash froyo 2.2 to my phone with odin 3 v1.0. I put my phone into download mode and it started to flash. about 2 minutes into it it powered off and now when i start it up it reads at&t world phone!! I flashed froyo 2.2 from a captivate onto my phone??? like i said total noob and i guess i deserved it. now when i start up the phone it thinks it is an at&t captivate. when i try to hook the usb up, it will connect for about 5 seconds and then power off. is there anyone out there that can help me? i will be eternally grateful to anyone that can help!

If you didn't flash anything to the phone part, you might still be ok. Go here http://ge.tt/2jDX1li and download the Mesmerize files then unzip them. Using Odin again put the pit file in the pit line and the tar.md5 file in the pda line, then put your phone into download mode and push start. If all goes well, you will just be back to stock.
i cant get into download mode the regular way. the only way i have found to get into download mode is to use adb download. when i do that, my PC will not recognize the phone. i get the usual connection sound from computer but that's it. oh and thank you for the files. now just gotta get the phone to stop powering off. like i said 5 seconds max then it powers off, arghhhhhh!!!!!! oh, and also for some reason after the disastrous flash, the volume up button doesn't work. if the phone thinks its a captivate, do i have to get into download mode how the captivate does with both volume up/down? thank you millions!!

You can try the volume up/down. If it is taking adb commands and still powering off, you may have a problem. Did you flash anything to the "phone" part or just the PDA part when you were flashing the captivate files? If you did, or you can't get these files to work, the only thing I can suggest is to use the free phone replacement. Just don't offer any explanation as to what happened.
ok i guess i flashed to the phone. tried all the download modes, phone dosent react. i can get to android system recovery, is there a way to load the stock mesmerize from the file you mentioned before in recovery? as far as the phone replacement goes, are you refering to the deal us cell has if you get it in your plan, or is there some other replacement yo are referring to?

Yeah I'm referring to the deal you get with the plans, hopefully you have the replacement plan or insurance. Either one should work.
If you are getting to stock recovery, and you can still run adb commands, there may be hope. You might be able to get Clockworkmod working, then you could flash the update.zip from recovery. After that, you might be able to flash a ROM and a kernel and possibly get back to normal.
You would have to push the files to root, then for CWM, then get the update.zip file from another person that already has it if you hadn't already gotten CWM working and still had it on your sdcard. Flash it, then flash a ROM and kernel.
That's a little over my paygrade at the moment, but I think that's what you would have to do. Hopefully someone else out there can help you a little more. I really hope you get it fixed.

Did you ever get this fixed?
not yet. i could fix easy if i could figure out how to keep my phone from shutting down after connecting to usb. it lasts about 5 seconds and then powers off. when i flashed it, i only got about 23% of the way done and the phone disconnected. i guess i has some sort of error or fail safe and shuts down? if i could figure this part out, i could use odin 1.3 to put it back to stock
Try talking out battery hold down volume down and plug in usb while odin is open it will go into download mode then use the mez odin files it should work merry christmas

I don't think talking to the battery will work. They are pretty stubborn. lol... damn phones and their predictive text.
That is correct that "TAKING" the battery out and hold only down volume button then plug in to usb and have ODIN already open and running, should work and also very important that you use PDA BUTTON ONLY....even thought you used PHONE EARLIER ....THE REPLACEMENT FILES FOR STOCK ONLY GO IN PDA....Dont want to make the same mistake twice....as it may seem that phone is the area that you messed up...the fix doesn't go there...PDA ONLY WITH PIT FILE TO MAP FILE LOCATIONS.....hope your Xmas present is a fixed mesmerize....

ok i finally got the captivate os off of it. i can get into download mode and i tried to flash back to stock using the file above in the post. i keeps failing on me. im using odin 1.3 and using both the pit file and tar. putting the .tar in the pda area of odin. please help?

Ok im in CwM Voodoo Lagfix Rev v3.0.2.8x
My mounts are correct
I go to Install from zip
Then Choose zip from sd card
Then I chose my rom
I get this error E:Cant mount /SDcard/Bionix_Frost_SGS4G.zip
Installatioin aborted.
I get this with anyone I try what am I missing here?
You sort of ran into the same problem as the guy in this thread yesterday.
To sum up that thread for you:
1. Download a Gingerbread rom. Here are sone samples:
Octane
Valhalla Final
KJ6 AOSP Style
2. Use the Gingerbread Starter Pack guide to flash it without any problems.

Yes been trying that Im here it says all threads complete but phone doesnt reboot to pull battery its just on the downloading screen still
4) Load up Odin, and load the KC1 files, DON'T TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS, leave them like they are even if Odin changes them!
- 4a) PIT: Sgs4g.pit
- 4b) PDA: pda.tar.md5
5) Flash and let the phone reboot. Once you see the T-Mo startup screen (the pink one), OR the CWM (red text) screen do a battery pull.
Try pulling the battery after Odin is done and see if it boots up.
Edit: oh and unplug it from the PC when its booting up

Im messing up here its not working right my first time using this odin and its not picking my phone up I just found a video on it and I see now so now I need to fix that some how and i should be ok.

Sounds like you don't have the USB drivers installed.

Well I got it started and really messed up the cord got bumped and now I think my phone is bricked all i see is a pic of a phone and a void and a pc like its telling me i unplugged it oh no.
I just fixed it back now tomorrow have to try odin again and be more careful

Dang got myself locked up again with odin it sticks at set partion left it for 45 mins gave up thank goodness for Heimdal one click Why cant i do this lol

What version of ODIN are you using? Also, when usong ODIN make sure you don't mess with any of the checkboxes - just let ODIN decide what to check.
I'm not sure about the CWM error as I've not experienced that problem.

Weird that it keeps doing that. How did you manage to fix it the first time?
Dang 2 hours now im back up i guess i give up lol i held vol up and down cord plugged in then insert battery.

This method got my phone back this time but before i kept unplugging the phone from the cord and had 2 cords plugged into PC I kept switching back and forth then it recognized.Just messing around to see if i can find a way to get it to recognize in DL mode now and now it wont.

Hmm, if you've tried every usb port on your computer, try a different computer.
Maybe you got some funky usb host device on your computer that the phone just doesn't like.
I have tried I have a Windows 7 and an XP I get the same.I just picked up a new cable to see if that works and still the same.
Got a little question, any help would be verrry appreciated, uh I flashed cm9 on my infuse 4g from a red cwm and when I rebooted it got stuck on the samsung boot like it said it does, I battery pulled n retried it but it didnt boot up, so I booted into cwm recov. and it was all messed up, like a scrambled TV channel... I can't see anything, I tried to restore a backup just like from memory but it didnt work, I'm not sure which cwm version is used on cm9, but then I try to put it into odin mode and it doesnt go, can't connect to the cpu, doesnt go into odin mode, jus goes str8 to samsung screen and freezes. Anyone got any ideas? The scrambled cwm, from what I can make out, looks like its the one with the grey background... ne1 kno if thats the recovery cm9 comes with? Maybe I could restore my backup if I knew exactly how many times to press the volume up & down rockers and all that... idk. Again, any input'd b much appreciated

Sounds like you're still on GB bootloader..use Heimdall One Click by Qkster once flashed and return to stock GB rom then repeat procedure with tick mark on Flash Bootloader after that flash Entropy's kernel (all provided in the link) to get into red cwm then you can flashed your ICS rom after that.

Typo...I'm sure you meant he's not on GB boot loaders
Also to use Odin/heimdal you have to go to download mode not recovery
1) pull battery
2) put battery back in
3) hold volume up+down and plug in USB with out pressing power button
4) run Odin/heimdall

Cm9 uses the latest cmw (6.x.x) which is blue with gray background. You should be able to boot into download mode. Make sure you are doing everything correctly

Thanks man, and yeah trust me ive tried to get into dl mode every which way, when I first got this scrambled screen, I went to plug into my cpu after dl'ing the drivers and my phone got stuck on that circular loading bar thing, so I had to unplug, but I think I did that when my cpu was installing the drivers to my phone soo...

Don't remember exactly and don't have a windows computer in front of me
But, plug your phone as if you were going to download mode
Don't unplug it even if it doesn't go to DL mode
Go to "my computer"
I think you go to system properties
There should be a thing under system properties for hardware, drivers or it might be advanced...don't really remember
Locate the infuse under usb ...it will probably be gadget serial, or something like that...to ease the process disconnect all other USB that way only your phone shows up
Double click it that should open up a window of the driver settings
Uninstall the drivers
Unplug your phone, go to the ISET page which is sticked in the dev section and download the infuse drivers (don't use kies...)
Its not necessary but i like to reboot after installing new drivers
Now try to connect to download mode
Good luck, I'll try and clarify those steps later

Hey man thanks so much for the help, I actually had to dl the same CWM recovery on my s3 that the infuse looked like It was running, then dl a Gb based Rom, I did Aeon, and move it to my ext sd, then put the sd in my infuse and boot into recovery on both of them and go step for step until I got to 'install zip from ext sd' and finally it worked and booted up normal after that, nowbI gotta see if I can get back into dl mode with it, But thanks a lot for the help, u guys are the sh!t...

And yeah everytime I try a 4.0 based rom, my recovery does that scramble thing, I need the newer bootloader? How do I get it exactly? Thru Odin?

Yeah...Odin or heimdall...I did it with heimdall using qksters one click back to uclb3, I flasshed once left the program open, then ticked the flash bootloaders box, put.phone back in dl mode and flashed again

Will try and find some Odin instructions for bootloaders...not sure if just flashing a gb Odin will do the trick

Jscott has a gb bootloaders only odin pack that you can also flash if you feel positive about using Odin.
Be careful, a bad bootloader flash is the only thing that can really brick your phone for good.

Yeah I'm gonna try and uninstall then reinstall the drivers cause I still can't get into download mode the regular way, only way I can is using Aeon 4.1 and using the power button menu to get into it, but Odin still doesn't connect and my cpu says that the USB device I'm plugging in has Malfunctioned... Does anyone have a good trusted working site for the Infuse Drivers for windows?

Lol no oops typo. 1.4, but yeah Idk what's wrong my cpu keeps saying 'USB device not recognized' then it says the device has malfunctioned... you know how the drivers install on your phone when u plug it in after installing the drivers on ur cpu, I think my infuse got messed up when it was doing that, is there a way to delete the driver data from my phone? Cause my cpu will not recognize it, I've tried Odin, heimdall, Odin mode and kies, nothing works... I ttried restoring my phone to an earlier date, still no luck connecting .

I have an SGS4g
I had Team Whiskeys Bionix Frost updated for/with voodoo and it worked fine for quite some time... I foolheartedly decided it was time for something new...
I followed the instructions perfectly for WhiteHawkx Valhalla when I was at the restart boot-loader section my phone turned into rainbow crack,
but the rom loaded and my phone worked I was however unable to get into recovery from this point forward.
I decided that not being able to get into recovery was unacceptable so I decided to use Odin to load up the old tried an true jump off point the deodexed KD1 I keep with Odin in a folder on my PC for just such an occasion, after attempting this my phone didn't restart on it's own like it was supposed to... (I should have known to stop right there while I was still in DL mode.)
When I restarted my phone manually my phone stopped showing the rainbow crack and showed the normal splash screen (I was foolishly optimistic) my phone is now stuck at the t mobile splash screen and I haven't been able to get it back into DL mode...
Please tell me there is something I can do other than shop for a new phone.

I have been unable to get into recovery so far...
I have tried all of the alternate methods except ADB mode which I don't think i can because the phone wont go past the galaxy S 4g exclusively from t mobile splash screen.
if there is a trick for the ADB method please let me know cause if something is going to work at this point i think that's it.

You could see if abd recognizes your phone if you have it. (usually the first things I do is make sure debugging is on when I change things over)
If you know someone with a jig that would be the easiest way but it is 1am.
I'm at work so I'm not in front of my computer.

I dont know anyone with a Jig, I always turn debug mode on.
I'll try ADB if that doesn't work I'll order/make a jig.
I had one that I had to spam the adb command at for awhile before it took..

Your are pulling the battery when doing this right? I assume you are, but you didn't list it as one of your steps.

I had Team Whiskeys Bionix Frost updated for/with voodoo and it worked fine for quite some time... I foolheartedly decided it was time for something new...
I followed the instructions perfectly for WhiteHawkx Valhalla when I was at the restart boot-loader section my phone turned into rainbow crack,
but the rom loaded and my phone worked I was however unable to get into recovery from this point forward.
I decided that not being able to get into recovery was unacceptable so I decided to use Odin to load up the old tried an true jump off point the deodexed KD1 I keep with Odin in a folder on my PC for just such an occasion, after attempting this my phone didn't restart on it's own like it was supposed to... (I should have known to stop right there while I was still in DL mode.)
When I restarted my phone manually my phone stopped showing the rainbow crack and showed the normal splash screen (I was foolishly optimistic) my phone is now stuck at the t mobile splash screen and I haven't been able to get it back into DL mode...
Please tell me there is something I can do other than shop for a new phone.

Good Morning Everyone, This is my first post. I try to never post just read. I have read and read but to no avail. I have a AT&T Samsung infuse 4g. it WAS running froyo. What I mean by WAS, is that I was trying to install the modded 3e recovery so I could install clockworkmod recovery. During this process I read that I need to mount the /system partition as read/write I did this using the tool box that was created by some of your developers. It is awsome by the way. Well I did that and put a new recovery file in the /bin but it did not work as the website claimed so I thought well I should delete the old one. Bad Idea when I did the reboot it stopped me at the samsung screen. I tried to hard reboot it pulled the battery talked to it with a really kind voice and nothing happend. So I decided to use GEG's Ultimate Unbrick because this has worked for me in the past when i have messed up. So I put my phone into download mode and started the process with Odin. And here is where it gets bad.... one of my children was talking with me during the process and he decided to unplug my phone.. AHH EFFFFFF! I thought. Well when I tried to fix it it was to late. My phone will no longer turn on or even pretend to start. I am broke and cannot afford a new phone plus my wife would kill me seeing we have 6 children and it is right before christmas if I came home with a new galaxy note 2 Please Please can any one help a desperate dad with a busted Samsung Infuse. Thank you all for this awesome website that has taught me alot.. Please dont kill me for posting something someone has already posted because I could not find anything that was helpful for this situation with my phone.

Okay now I have really done it this time. So I worked a 18 hour day and thought well instead of getting some rest i will install Gingerbread on my infuse. To make a long story short while I was using odin to install it paused for a long time at the format stage, so I thought well I will just turn it off even though it says not to and then.....well it did a rainbow colored screen I tried to figure it out last night with no luck. So I have been working on it all morning the rainbow screen is gone but now it just goes from black to all white screen. I have tried every possible way to get into download mode with no luck. Am I screwed or what? Does anyone have any suggestions. If I am out of luck does anyone know if bestbuy's warrenty covers rooted phones that are [email protected] bricked?
You just need To update your boot loader.
You can navigate in the screwy screens but it takes patience and some guesswork. Been there

It still will not get me into download mode it is powering on and off connecting and disconnecting I have the drivers installed I have tried gtg's guide I have tried qstars one click nothing is working. These have worked for me in the past but that was because I can get into down load mode. Unfortunately not any more Is there a way to make the phone stay on and connected so it stops going black to white to black screen? I am so bummed out! I have been reading for so many hours my brain hurts. I have learn a ton but I can't do anything with my new knowledge with no phone!!!AAAHHHHHH

Qkster its a honor to have you comment on my thread, Unfortunately Im not boot looping to the samsung logo it is just a black then white then black back and forth taunting me with every blink. I did read the thread about the power button earlier though and that is unfortunately not the fix either. I do appreciate the input you guys really do try and help! Maybe you can answer a question for me is there a way to get to the phone through command prompt? I really need this phone fixed. My wife has been telling me I shouldnt be messing around with it because im gonna break it. I really dont want to tell her she was right. I will never hear the end of it lol!

You're too kind, Merk.
I'm not sure what happened to your phone. The Infuse is pretty sturdy. Flashing should not cause much of an issue. The faulty power button and corrosion of the circuit board were the most I've seen reported.
This is what I use to force the phone into download mode:

Once in DL mode, it's a matter of choosing Odin or Heimdall to bring it back to stock.
One other thought, try a different battery as well.
I had the same exact problem. If the only thing the phone will do is go into download mode, then Samsung will fix it (if your still under warranty). They fixed mine and sent it back to me. Then I tried to flash another ROM on there and while it was flashing, I went to the store, and when I came back it said failed. Then it would only go into the other download mode. The one that has this (phone...!...PC). It wouldnt show up on odin 1.7 anymore. So I ended up trying a USB cable for my HTC evo v, and the drivers installed, then it popped up on Odin. I used G2G's Ultimate Unbrick (dude is a f-ng genius, all credit goes to him) and instead of putting the pit, PDA, and phone file on there and flashing, I flashed one at a time......then....I went back and flashed all at once and everything worked perfect. If your still having trouble with it, I can tell you exactly how I did it, and maybe that will work for you. Sorry to but in on this post and sorry it was so long of a reply. I just no what its like when you half brick an infuse. Mine was like that for 6 months because I couldn't get any computer to recognize it. But anyway, I hope I was helpful.

Well im going to give it a shot I still have the old infuse I tried to make my own jig which didnt work for me so I took it into bestbuy and they gave me a brand new phone and in all of the hustle and bustle of christmas shopping going on around me they did not take my bricked infuse so now I have a spare to tinker with. Thanks I will definately give it a try and report with my findings

okay I tried but that didnt work either. Can you go ahead and explain "exactly" what you did maybe it will work!

Ok first I downloaded the unbrick package from this website. I downloaded the drivers for the infuse (not sure exactly where I got them from). I would just Google them. Then I tried every USB port on the laptop. Then switched cables and it finally worked. Opened Odin 1.7 and clicked pit, then flashed. Then I unplugged it, took the battery out and put back in and tried to boot. Didn't work. Then flashed PDA. Did same steps as before and still didn't work. Then flashed phone file. Tried to boot and still didn't work. Then I flashed all 3 files at once. Also, not sure if you know or not but the only thing that should be checked in Odin is f: reset time. Then the phone booted up and it stayed on at&t screen for about 5 minutes then finally came on. Also, you could also try to flash this other PDA file on there. I have the link saved on my computer but I'm not at home right now so I'll have to post that later. In easier steps
1. Put phone in Download mode and plug into pc.
2. Run Odin as admin and only thing checked is f reset time.
3.Flash pit then try to boot
4. Flash PDA then try to boot
5. Flash phone then try to boot
6. Flash all three at once
7. After flash While in download mode, unplug USB cable, take battery out and put back in
8. Reboot phone.
Sorry everything is all jumbled, I just got back to my home state from a road trip and I'm running on about 6 hours of sleep in 3 days. I hope this works for you. Also, there is a video on YouTube of a unbrick service for the phone. Its $30. I personally would not try it but its just an idea if you would want to.

I had the issue where I had the phone, the exclamation mark, and the computer symbol (The Black Screen of Death: Imaged Attached), that is all it would show when I turned it on. I thought the phone was completely bricked until I did the following, which put it into a hidden download mode and allowed ODIN to recognize it. I DID NOT NEED TO BUY A USB JIG.
1. Make sure you have Odin already downloaded and ready to go.
2. Remove the SIM and SD Cards
3. Load up Odin and make sure it is up and running on the computer. DO NOT plug your phone into the computer yet.
4. Reinstall the Battery and plug the phone to the USB cable to the computer.
5. Hold down both Volume keys and then push and hold the power button
6. Keep holding the buttons until it goes to black, KEEP HOLDING A SECOND TIME until it goes to black and the icon comes back on.
7. Now when it goes Black the second time release the Power button only.
8. You should now be in Download mode. The key is holding the buttons, letting it go to black once, and then letting it go to black again, and then release only the power button while your fingers are still on the volume buttons.
9. Now Odin should recognize the phone on a Com port (turn yellow).
10. You are now ready to return it back to stock.

Yes I tried to make my own jig but my fat shaky hands could get the end of the wires to hit the correct contacts so I ordered one online and that got me into download mode! Now I'm running jelly bean! Thanks to everyone that helped out I love you guys!!!! PS. Don't skip backing up your efs folder!! Unless you want a headache. But with all my problems it has taught me a lot. My number one tip is to read read read there is always an answer! Thanks again everyone! Always hit the thanks button its the least we can do for all of these brilliant hard working developers.
