Or when you hold the phone horizontally?
You can turn off scrolling wallpaper in your launcher settings, usually...

So, I'm not very happy with the wallpaper options in this phone. I understand that, it's more of HTC Sense setting, but it doesn't let me choose home or lock screen. Plus, when I choose a picture from my gallery to use as a wallpaper, the weird crop square shows up and doesn't let me use the whole picture. What's up with that? Am I missing something? What do other people think?
The wall paper is ok but, I went to the market and downloaded city at night wallpaper and its a lot better for my tastes.

You should use 960x800 sized wallpapers. You can't select the whole picture because your iPhone wallpapers or whatever are the wrong aspect. There are some good downloadable wallpapers in the HTC Hub and there are a million wallpaper apps in the market.
Your wallpaper is scrolling as you swipe left and right to different screens, that's why it's square. I just use 1920X1080 wallpapers and they look fine.
Am I the only one who wants to turn off the screen scrolling and go back to the wallpaper that moves?
The scrolling wheel is annoying as hell and pretty dam pointless. HTC must have thought this one through really hard.....

You can select the "Streak" Live Wallpaper & you'll get the "Moving" Wallpaper effect in addition to the "Live" part.

Press personalize button (bottom right of home screen) then wallpaper then live wallpapers then streak. Or install a different launcher.

I installed a wallpaper app on the phone ( i have nova launcher on it ) .Whenever i apply it , it just shows me 1/5 of the wallpaper ( it crops it and applys it ) . Can i change this ?
try to enable WALLPAPER SCROLLING in nova launcher settings.
I dissable the wallpaper scrolling and it s better , it centers the wallpaper , but still it looks like the wallpaper is zoomed in ...

While selecting wallpaper , try to change wallpaper setting to portrait, full or landscape.

This seems like it should be simple! I have changed the wallpaper in Nova to a static image but the lockscreen still shows the Xperia live wallpaper. I tried switching back to Xperia launcher and setting it there but no luck. The lock screen still shows the live wallpaper instead.
Is there any way to set it to a static image?

Settings - personalization - lock screen or alternatively you can just go straight into your photo gallery , choose a pic and from the options select 'set as lock screen wallpaper'

I wanna do the opposite. I've changed the theme and now I can't find a way to make the lockscreen wallpaper to be the same live wallpaper than my homescreen. I'm on kitkat rooted. help please =(

I don't think you can change lockscreen wallpaper to a live one, even rooted.

No, I mean the wallpaper not lockscreen.. If you set the wallpaper with random pics taken from the native folder (folder with green leaf and sea wave, sax, desert...) the pic on wallpaper become cropped and zoomed grainy, in short, bad!

You know when you choosing wallpaper for home screen it will give you option fixable or scrollable .. and if u choose scrollable u can adjust your picture..
Try play with that..

Hi. I have the same issue. It's from the EMUI firmware and unfortunately you can't fix it. We should send them a message to fix this problem.
But until then I found an solution. I tried many wallpaper changing apps and all beside one, have the same problem because of the settings from the EMUI - shows crop & zoomed images.
So the only app that I found and it's working corectly is SB Wallpaper Changer

It has a lot of cool settings that you can play with. Try it to see if it's working for you also.
