[Q] [Xoom 2 / Xyboard 8.2] Any new information on SIM unlock / GSM modem hack - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if there was any progress on this issue for the locked Verizon version of the Xyboard 8.2. I'm considering trading my nexus 7 for one but I have AT&T LTE.
I love the work you guys do here. I have unlocked many verizon/sprint devices for worldwide and domestic GSM networks thanks to the awesomeness you guys upload for smucks like me to play around with like a child on Christmas. I thank you all.
Any help or new information on this issue would be great thanks

I'm just wondering why you haven't read forum rules and stickies before posting?
Development is for developers to post ROMs, Mods, kernels and stuff

[Q] Question for Canadians

Hello Canadians,
I am looking to trade my T-Mobile G2 for a Bell Desire Z to use on AT&T's 3g network.
Can anyone point me to Canadian smartphone specific forums that have a buy/sell/trade discussion?
Any other ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Danny.B
there's no much to find in many of our forums but go nuts and try..
www.androidcentral.com -- they havea canadian section
www.mobilesyrup.com -- they have a buy/sell section
www.kijiji.ca -- you may find a phone listed
www.craigslist.org -- of course

[Q] iPhone on T-Mobile and other carriers?

Hey guys! I'm new here and searched this topic, but haven't found an answer. It's just a general question that would also help other users who like the iPhone, but have a different carrier. My question is, Will the iPhone (possibly 5) ever be released on T-Mobile (includes any other US carrier)? I'm just wondering because it would be nice if iOS finally made it to other US carriers. Thanks guys

US Cellular Variant Offical Thread

Hey guys, the Samsung Galaxy S III is finally coming to US Cellular this Thursday and/or Friday.
This is the official thread for the US Cellular variant of the phone.
We will discuss mods, flashing, rooting, and etc.
In for my 2 friends on USCC whose phones I'll be rooting (for tether). Hopefully it won't be locked like VZW.

It won't, I spoke with a US Cellular representative today and it's where I got the release date and other details.
The thing is, that the phone does have a lot of similarities with Verizon, so the devs have 2 options.
They can make one for US Cellular and edit it for Verizon.
But as Verizon is a larger carrier, they'll probably get the Developer's edition of the phone and then at some point make a root for the US Cellular version.
You think that CyanogenMod 9 or 10 will be supported for the USC variant?

There's no reason why not.
As far as root, the CWM flash method has worked on all variants thus far, I don't see why it won't work on the USCC phone.
I am switching this fall when my contract is up in Verizon to US Cellular. What will the dev scene look like on this phone? Will it be easy to port ROMs from other GS3? If there are very few devs working on this phone, how easy is it for a end user to port the ROM from another GS3?
since I already have a mini sim and a lTE acount thats active, from my Galaxy Nexus on verizon, can I just pay cash for the us cellular version and plug in my active sim and it will work?

Well, there are already people getting the phone today, but I know that past phones like the Mesmerize and the Aviator have been Cyanogenmod supported, and Root supported.
Do you happen to know which carrier US Cellular has the most similarities to?

The US Cellular variant of the Galaxy S II shared a lot of similarities with the Epic4G Touch.
Well, as US Cellular is finally starting to grow, I've seen a lot of developers for AOKP and CM9 discussing the possibilities of ROMs by making it for the 4G Touch, and just porting it over by changing a few things.
I can't answer that last question as I really have no idea on porting ROMs, but as I said in another post, it's either closer to Verizon or Sprint.
But for the S II, I've seen a few threads that it was very easy, but that they just had to change a few things, so I'm assuming that it's not that much of a hassle.

I've tried Googling that but I can't seem to find an answer.
Some answers say yes some say no, but I think that US Cellular has more similarities to Verizon than any other carrier, at least that's my speculation in terms of radios, as they both use the same spectrum.
But you can go to the website and go to a live chat with a representative and ask there.
Has anyone rooted this phone yet? Can we get our own section?
Bump for a fellow U.S. Cellular S3 owner. Would love to see it rooted.

The instructions at galaxys3root.com works for US Cellular.
So it is confirmed that this phone has an unlocked bootloader?
Has anyone tried and can verify on U.S. Cellular that they have used galaxys3root.com and it worked?
this phone can be rooted with the method that team epic uses for the sprint version. I dunno what the website you're talking about does but it is the same method as it is with all the other carriers.
I would love to see a separate section for us, no we aren't gonna have a whole lot of development going on compared to the big 4 but it would be really nice to have a place where we can have specific discussions and rom ports and things for just us.

Does anyone know if a verizon mini sim will work in this device?
Yes that site just has a set by step guide for installing the Team Epic recovery using ODIN and it worked on my US Cellular Galaxy S III.
Seconded on the separate forum idea. I think there will be more than enough people to have one. I know a lot of people is moving to this from the Desire and that had a decent sized community.
Successful root using teamepics procedure.
Agree with vex and all the rest. A separate forum for USCC GS3 owners would be wonderful.
Who would we contact to get a separate section?

Sprint nexus 5 & roms

So excuse my ignorance in advance. I am one of those few people on the planet that actually has decent coverage where I live with Sprint, so thats why I dont buy a GSM addition of this device. My question is are there any roms for the Sprint addition of this device? I have been through a ton of threads and do not see anything specifically mentioning Sprint. I had the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus and the development was there for those devices, of course not to the extent that the gsm carriers received but it was there. I am getting that Nexus twitch but I dont want to buy the Sprint version if there isnt any development for it. Thanks all, in advance.
No questions in general forums.
The Nexus 5 is just the Nexus 5 no matter what provider it's running off.

There is no Sprint edition of the Nexus 5. The same singular Nexus 5 has radios compatible with Sprint (CDMA/EVDO), AT&T and T-Mobile (GSM/UMTS/HSPA+), and LTE for all three. Simple as that.
There is only a North America version (D820) and a European/Rest-of-the-world version (D821). Difference is only the LTE bands.
Google did it right with the Nexus 5, no variants of the Nexus. They're all the same:thumbup:

Motorola Razr+ (2023) compatibility

Hi everyone. I don't see a dedicated topic for the new Mortorola razr and razr+ yet. If there is one, please let me know and I can move this question to there. I made a post about the 2020 Razr and compatibility with US Cellular a while back, since it is not officially supported by US cellular, and we were able to come up with a solution to getting US Cellular to activate it. Here is that discussion. The phone worked great for almost two years by the way, with good coverage and no issues.
Do you think that the same order of operations will be possible with the new razr phones that are available now? They are also listed as unsupported by US Cellular. Here is a reference for their network band coverage. The red version of the phone looks fun!
Thanks everyone.
