Hi guys
Sorry for the new thread. I tried to search the forums but couldnt find anything regarding my problem.
I recently flashed the Sky rom and updated it to the latest version. Before that, I used the AT&T ICS Rom and everything was nice and dandy until I noticed I cant soft reset my phone. Everytime I wanna shut down the phone or restart it, I have to pull the battery.
Reason being? The screen just goes black and stays black forever! The capacitive buttons stay lit but the screen is completely off.
If you guys could get some tips, I'd appreciate it.
Oh and also Im using the Rogers i727R
Cheers
Update your recovery, it's causing that issue.
For a short term fix to your current flash, make a nandroid and restore it immediately.

He is right, make a Nandroid and restore it. I had the same issue on my initial install of sky ics Rogers base and the restore did the trick

phone's been working fine since day one however recently i wiped and switched over to a different rom and afterwards the keys e, s, and c don't work anymore wtf? i try to hit them but it selects the letters that are next to them! help anyone?!
Reflash the rom. Make sure you wipe data, cache, and dalvik a couple times.
Also, try calibrating your screen. It may or may not help.

you cannot calibrate on aosp roms.
The original problem occurred on the BAMF rom, but then i loaded cyanogen mod and same thing. Doesn't matter if its a gingerbread KB or Swiftkey E, S, and C are not working!
Do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423
Follow directions EXACTLY! Then get the OTA update. Then, if you're not happy with stock (I wasn't) re-root using Revolutionary, install whatever ROM you want from scratch, DO NOT RESTORE FROM A BACKUP!
That should fix it, I hope? Good Luck!
NOTE: If the keys don't work after you're back to stock your phone may be broken.

followed everything it said in the thread, and the keys still don't work guess its time to get the bionic tomorrow
This happens to me sometimes but I just lock the phone and unlock it and it's fine. Maybe you should reflash the rom or try a different one

I searched the forums and cannot find a fix for this... now this is my first time looking and I may have missed something, or searched using the wrong words or phrases...
I just recently upgraded my skyrocket to the UCLD2 4.2d build, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216
I followed the instructions to the letter, but now whenever I try to power off my phone it freezes, and the only way to fix it is to remove the battery.
I am very new to rooting, and this entire process, but I did double check everything before I did the install process.
Please point me in the right direction to fixing the issue.
download darkside. zip...to acheive full wipe...then flash rom again while still in recovery .....

Mine is doing the same thing after I restored from nandroid. It was fine before. I'm rooted with stock ICS and Mohan kernel. Everything else works fine. It just hangs on the powering off screen. Do you think darkside wipe and redoing my nandroid restoration would fix this? I am also still learning, but have been reading my a$$ off.
hey there fellow xda members. i'm kinda in need of somebody to help me quick. I read the posts from the references before i posted this one, but nothing came up that i was dealing with.... I'm a noob guys sorry. OK, i got the Infuse a few weeks ago. running on Simple Mobile. (i traded my sk4g for it.) When i first got the Infuse, i popped in my sim and (it was unlocked... yes!). i programmed the apn and it was good. only problem with the phone, it was on a force close loop. it was fc every 3 or so minutes... day and night. most the time it didnt show (FC) but it would freeze and reboot by itself. I was getting aggrevated. didnt want to flash to custom ROM so i updated to GB (att firmware update via mini kies). after update, still force closing... now no data.. no signal (circle w/ slash). tried to root w/ oneclick (didnt work) with hopes of dl ROM manager to flash ROM but nooo. used Odin to flash stock odexed red cmw recovery rooted ROM and after about 3 tries.. flashed successfully. still no data or signal. started thinking it was radio/modem (dont know if its the same thing) so i flashed from stock uclb3 (something like that)... to kk1 or something like that. no signal or data. im getting desperate and im really going to crack this baby open in hopes of finding some hardware problems.. please i need some help. im a noob sorry if this post has been repeated. everyonce in a while a faint signal appears and i try to register to mobile network (and nothing).. signal disappears. (thought i'd explain as much as i can about phone behavior) whats esn? i will not leave any stone unturned.
I'd recommend using Odin to put the phone software back to stock first, just to clean up anything that is causing issues. Try this tool to repartition your phone and put it back to stock UCLB3.:

When you're done, go to Settings / Privacy and do a Factory Reset on the phone. Report back to let us know how you're doing.

Hello folks,
I'm trying to install the most recent Sky ICS update, and i've followed the instructions from seanzscreams' thread, but i'm getting a strange problem. my phone keeps "rebooting". it'll show the Samsung logo, and then the four-colored "X" logo, and then blank screen, and then cycle back to the Samsung logo.
I'm updating from Gingerbread (using the Super Stock mod 2.3.6), if that makes a difference. i think i'm going to try reverting to stock ICS next to see if that helps. but i was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem.

Did u follow the instructions in his op. I know they are for team win recovery but the steps are about identical even if done in cwm. Did u do wipe data/factory reset, cache and dalvik x3?

stop flashing the Base and update at the same time. you need to flash the base and reboot into android and then reboot into recovery and flash the update
It did exactly the same thing to me. I let the phone restarting again and again for at least 15 minutes, then it worked! Now no problem.

Hello - I tried to update my phone from Infuse v2.2.3 to Th3Bill JB 3.3.2 and got in an endless loop. I then tried to go into recovery mode and do a restore. Checked the MD5, Erased boot and then started restoring boot image and thats where she has been sitting for some time. I will pull batter and attempt again however I may be hosed. Any help greatly appreciated.
It is not possible, that I am aware of, to go from Froyo straight to JB. You will also not be able to restore a backup at this point due to changes made on the phone in the borked attempt. You should be able to wipe data, cache, and dalvik, and after a couple of attempts re- install a Froyo rom from scratch. If you can't do that, do this.

Thanks to qkster and Entropy for this.
I had that issue as well. Only cause I like to see if I can be done. But no. What I do is go back to stock and rooted then flash a ICS ROM then make sure it boots. Then go wipe all stuff in cwm and flash jelly

Hey Pony, I was on the custom ROM Infuse v2.2.3 and not stock Froyo. I ended up doing the gtg ultimate unbrick to bring it back to stock and then did the full back to Infuse v2.2.3 and then did a nandroid restore. Everything looks good but it is acting a bit weird. Like I will try to open my applications or folders it sometimes hangs. I consistantly get it to free up by locking the phone and then unlocking it. Weird huh? Anyway I would be interested in trying to upgrade to JB but would like more instruction on that. Thanks for responding and if you can recommend anything that might help Im all ears.
See the post below - if you need more specific instructions let me know.
Thanks rkkaranrk.
Use Odin or heimdll to get stock GB Tom and then from there u can flash any rom u like just follow the instructions in the OP. You can go directly from GB to ICS but for JB u have to flash any ICS rom first and then JB.
Read the instructions on every thread.
