I searched the forums and cannot find a fix for this... now this is my first time looking and I may have missed something, or searched using the wrong words or phrases...
I just recently upgraded my skyrocket to the UCLD2 4.2d build, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216
I followed the instructions to the letter, but now whenever I try to power off my phone it freezes, and the only way to fix it is to remove the battery.
I am very new to rooting, and this entire process, but I did double check everything before I did the install process.
Please point me in the right direction to fixing the issue.
download darkside. zip...to acheive full wipe...then flash rom again while still in recovery .....

Mine is doing the same thing after I restored from nandroid. It was fine before. I'm rooted with stock ICS and Mohan kernel. Everything else works fine. It just hangs on the powering off screen. Do you think darkside wipe and redoing my nandroid restoration would fix this? I am also still learning, but have been reading my a$$ off.

n00b question, I guess. I came to the Inspire from a borrowed Cliq. I've rooted and flashed GB 2.3.4 successfully, but I hit a bump tonight.
I found other threads about the white screen when doing a Nandroid backup, but my situation didn't really fit.
I've had my Inspire for a month and have created two Nandroid backups - one when I rooted and one when I flashed Gingerbeast. Both times everything was fine.
I want to modify by APN settings (via henrybravo's thread), so earlier tonight I started to backup through ROM Manager. The phone shut down and came back up to the HTC screen... and stayed there. No Clockwork recovery.
I found the Guide to fix softbricking and pulled the battery. I let it sit for a minute and booted it back up normally. It came up fine. Everything was intact.
Was there something else I should have done? Should I flash Clockwork 3.0.2.6? I'm using 3.0.2.5 right now.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!
You should update cwr. In my experiences rom manager would always act a little funky. On several ocassions I would get a soft brick when flashing roms. So I do my flashing and nandroid straight from cwr and all my issues were gone.
You should try doing the nandroid from cwr and see if that helps you

Hi guys
Sorry for the new thread. I tried to search the forums but couldnt find anything regarding my problem.
I recently flashed the Sky rom and updated it to the latest version. Before that, I used the AT&T ICS Rom and everything was nice and dandy until I noticed I cant soft reset my phone. Everytime I wanna shut down the phone or restart it, I have to pull the battery.
Reason being? The screen just goes black and stays black forever! The capacitive buttons stay lit but the screen is completely off.
If you guys could get some tips, I'd appreciate it.
Oh and also Im using the Rogers i727R
Cheers
Update your recovery, it's causing that issue.
For a short term fix to your current flash, make a nandroid and restore it immediately.

Hello - I tried to update my phone from Infuse v2.2.3 to Th3Bill JB 3.3.2 and got in an endless loop. I then tried to go into recovery mode and do a restore. Checked the MD5, Erased boot and then started restoring boot image and thats where she has been sitting for some time. I will pull batter and attempt again however I may be hosed. Any help greatly appreciated.
It is not possible, that I am aware of, to go from Froyo straight to JB. You will also not be able to restore a backup at this point due to changes made on the phone in the borked attempt. You should be able to wipe data, cache, and dalvik, and after a couple of attempts re- install a Froyo rom from scratch. If you can't do that, do this.

Thanks to qkster and Entropy for this.
I had that issue as well. Only cause I like to see if I can be done. But no. What I do is go back to stock and rooted then flash a ICS ROM then make sure it boots. Then go wipe all stuff in cwm and flash jelly

Hey Pony, I was on the custom ROM Infuse v2.2.3 and not stock Froyo. I ended up doing the gtg ultimate unbrick to bring it back to stock and then did the full back to Infuse v2.2.3 and then did a nandroid restore. Everything looks good but it is acting a bit weird. Like I will try to open my applications or folders it sometimes hangs. I consistantly get it to free up by locking the phone and then unlocking it. Weird huh? Anyway I would be interested in trying to upgrade to JB but would like more instruction on that. Thanks for responding and if you can recommend anything that might help Im all ears.
See the post below - if you need more specific instructions let me know.
Thanks rkkaranrk.
Use Odin or heimdll to get stock GB Tom and then from there u can flash any rom u like just follow the instructions in the OP. You can go directly from GB to ICS but for JB u have to flash any ICS rom first and then JB.
Read the instructions on every thread.

Hey everyone, I've done some searching but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I was having a problem with my CM10 installations so I decided to revert back to a stock rom and start fresh.
I used odin to flash "I727UCLF6_I727ATTLF6_I727UCLF6_HOME.tar.md5" (which is supposed to be the stock ICS rom for at&t) and everything goes great, but the phone now hangs on the "Rethink Possible" AT&T logo. I've let it sit for about an hour so I'm pretty certain that nothing is going to happen.
I tried doing the same thing over hoping that maybe it was a bad flash or some kind of fluke, but came back to the exact same problem.
Any suggestions here would be phenomenal! :silly:

Reboot into recovery which will be stock recovery factory reset 3x and wipe cache 3x reboot and it will come up.
Yep you guys were right that did the trick! I didn't even think of it. I meant to post this last night when I actually did it but I fell asleep.
Do you know what exactly the phone is doing (or trying to do) when this actually happens to cause it? Just out of curiosity.
Thanks again!
Only way to find out is connect a debugger. Android SDK, ddms.bat
I'm not sure exactly but I have had similar issues with getting stuck in a boot loop. Usually formating and factory reset and a fresh flash did the trick.

I'm currently running cm9 with 4.0.4. I followed these exact steps

I did this in the past and wanted to verify my cwm was the right version. I went into cwm and it showed it was the blue and grey (6.0.1.0 or something like that) however, when I clicked the "reboot button" my phone started to do bootloops and would always wind up back at cwm main screen. The rom had no problems while running it and I still don't understand why it was bootlooping.
I was able to return to stock and then progressed to Get back to cm9 with 4.0.4 (the same way I did before) I now want to make the move to JB but am unsure if I will be able to flash due to my last experience with cwm bootlooping. I like to watch a video tutorial before I flash and found this video to go from ics to jb.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=plpp&v=xWBcSyj8vzU
Should I be able to follow this videos steps without bootlooping again? I have not heard of anyone else with this problem.
Thanks
It should. You might want to back up EFS. Use Zen's toolkit for that. Sometimes the IMEI get lost in the flash from ICS to JB. I like to wipe Dalvik cache, under advance, too but the wasn't in Scott's OP.
You can find link to both off the ISET page.

Practically same process as the one described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
The video doesn't mention wiping dalvik cache and formating system.
And as psal already suggested, backup efs in case you lose imei. That would save you a trip back to stock.
