I have a gtab that won't boot into recovery. It displays:
Recovery key detected
Booting recovery kernel image
Then just sits there and never does anything.

Which recovery where you using? What firmware is your device booting in to? A little bit more information will be needed to guide you in the right direction.

You've most likely installed the wrong recovery for the bootloader present on the gTablet. See this thread.

Hi.
Just rooted my TF101 (B80) using ViperMod V4,5.
SU working fine, got root access and everything.
My only problem is that i cannot enter recovery mode. I get the android with the red triangle.
I press Volume- + power, then volume+ and it says:
"booting recovery kernel image"
After that i get the android with the triangle.
Any idea how to solve this problem?
What you see is the recovery, only it's the stock recovery.
To get cwm recovery, use RecoveryInstaller by Gnufabio. Just look in the theme app section

I have used the recoveryinstaller.apk and still the same result. Then i tried installing a recovery using rom manager but still the same.
Can i use adb shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 command?
P.S. I forgot to mention that i am on stock ICS ww.9.2.1.17

Yes (I think). I used basic root checker and it says that is rooted. It also ask for super user access for it.
Ok. Solved.
I re-downloaded the recovery installer and everything is ok now. Thanks
I had the issue where I had the constant recovery loop and had to manually cold-boot linux every time. Then I followed all the directions that supposedly fixed that and it seemed to work (I could boot straight to android from power off). Now I can't boot into recovery at all. It just hangs at the Asus logo if I choose "reboot into recovery" and it hangs at "booting recovery image" if I use volume down. CWM shows that my recovery image is installed but there is something preventing it from launching.
Is there a way to format the recovery partition and flash it again? I tried the CWM "erase recovery" and that didn't work.

I've got the same issue, can do what I want, but can't boot to recovery ... grrrr
Same issues with boot and recovery
I am experiencing the same issue too, except I can't boot into the OS either so I am not sure what to do... I'll read the epic noob guide as described above and if I don;t come right there i'll post a thread as my challenges are slightly different to what is already posted.

You have to hold the volume down at boot like you are booting to recovery, but then don't do anything and a menu to coldboot linux or to erase userdata comes up. Just wait and it will boot android.

After being rooted and flashing CWM instead of holding volume down+power.. just download this app from the market. Called: Transformer reboot to Recovery.
The app in your drawer icon is two blue arrows instead of orange and blue like the developers picture.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...recovery&rdid=com.transformer.recovery&rdot=1
Ive noticed alot of people having issues booting with Clockworkmod into recovery or using power down and selecting recovery. (unless its done by hand). That app is a direct way into recovery. Most ROMs ive seen do not enter recovery even when the option is present.
Here is gnufabio, Recovery Installer - flash CWM with a Click
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
after flashing use the Transformer reboot to Recovery app i listed above. Ive used it and it works.. i use the app to enter recovery all the time.
Hi,
When I boot my phone into recovery manually it enters "ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.0". However, if I let it boot up normally and then restart into recovery either via the reboot menu or ROM Manager, I get "CWM-Based Recovery v5.0.2.6".
Do I have two CWM Recovery versions on my phone, and is this a problem?
Thanks,
eli

What ROM are you running? It shouldn't be a problem, depending on what ROM you are on.

Shouldn't be a problem. If you do backups, just make sure you're using the same one every time.
It is an issue for Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs... you can't use the 3-finger method on those, as it will cause a boot loop.
my tf700 showing the screen of asus in white ( like when you turn it on )

What recovery version you had when you do the wipe? and what twrp version you tried to install after?
Did you wipe data from the bootloader? Depending upon which custom recovery you were running and which bootloader you have you might be in trouble.......
Do you know which versions you had?

If you don't have nvflash backups then unfortunately you can't restore from apx mode.
Can you answer the question - which bootloader were you on and where did you wipe from? In recovery or in the bootloader?

Anyway I don't think it's going to help as if you only have APX mode and can't get into the bootloader or recovery then you are bricked
Nothing going ot get you out of that unfortunately if you didn't backup with nvflash......
Sorry.

If you are unable to get to the boot loader, or recovery, then yes the tablet is bricked. APX mode does not allow access to the parts containing the recovery or boot loader. If you can get to the boot loader, aka holding down power button and volume down button, should be able to see what boot loader you have a flash a compatible recovery. If not, then your tablet is bricked, which seems to be the case.

They only care about unlock, (if unlocked, your device SN is registered in their database, they don't need to check your device, but you can get away if just rooted since your device is dead.
So I installed TWRM and now every time I boot into recover system it shows "No command" with an android layed on his back, pressing and holding power but. + plus volume doesn't get me in the recovery (saw this in a thread as a solution). I've also tried to reinstall it, the only way for me to get in it is to connect it to my computer and flash the recovery again. Any suggestions?

If you mean TWRP by squid2, OP describes two methods. Which of them did you use?
- "fastboot boot twrp-osprey-2.8.7-test1.img" will flash TWRP as a temporary (one time) recovery
- "fastboot flash recovery twrp-osprey-2.8.7-test1.img" will make it permanent

Wait, is it the same process? I just have to type "flash recovery "file location" instead of "boot"?

One you're just booting temporarily into TWRP and not overwriting the stock recovery, the other, you're flashing TWRP as the default recovery. So yes, leave off the boot part and you'll flash TWRP as the default recovery.

Hey everyone
my opo have the internal volume buttons broken. I flashed a custom ROM on it and I forgot to do a factory reset before I firstly boot up the phone with the new ROM. So it stuck on the boot animation.
can someone help me out please?
You have to open it if the power menu has no "Boot to recovery option".

There is only One way left then I think... Flash Official COS via fastboot, that should boot normally, then enable advanced power options and access recovery via ADB.
