Get into recovery without volume buttons - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone
my opo have the internal volume buttons broken. I flashed a custom ROM on it and I forgot to do a factory reset before I firstly boot up the phone with the new ROM. So it stuck on the boot animation.
can someone help me out please?

You have to open it if the power menu has no "Boot to recovery option".

It can be done via ADB, using this command
adb reboot recovery

I'm stuck on boot animation without ADB enbaled

There is only One way left then I think... Flash Official COS via fastboot, that should boot normally, then enable advanced power options and access recovery via ADB.

[Q] OnePlus One unique softbrick?

I rebooted my OnePlus One yesterday and found myself in a weird situation. The phone would go to the initial OnePlus logo then after, a smal android logo with a red warning sign appears for a split second, and I boot into the CM stock recovery. I can't turn it on or enter fastboot, nor can I turn on ADB Debugging on my phone and would really appreciate help as I do not want this phone to be gone. Pretty scared guys, help would be much appreciated!
I've never seen this problem before.
I supose you are bootloader unlocked, rooted and have costum recovery, right?
For fastboot, if it does not work normally, try: up button + power with the phone connected to the PC; if it does not work, try the same button combo + plug the phone to the pc while you are holding down the buttons.

Thanks for the prompt response. I think you should also know that I attempted to put a custom recovery on my OPO, but after saying that it worked, I only loaded into the CM Stock Recovery. I do not, have my phone with me at the moment as I did not think it would be necessary to bring to school with me, but I will attempt everything you have said. Thanks for the help so far!

I attempted both ways but nothing happens as I press the buttons. It will only boot in the CM Simple Recovery.

I believe you messed it up for good, since you: can't get into fastboot; have no recovery; have no backups... If you could get fastboot to go you would only need to flash twrp and then sideload a rom =/
Does the stock recovery let you sideload?

Yes. It does.
Download the stock image. I'm sure it will be there somewhere in the forums.
Then go to recovery and do the following:
Select 'apply update'. Then you either have the option to apply update from Internal Storage or from adb.
Select adb and enter: adb sideload update_filename.zip

assuming it's the stock android recovery, i'm pretty sure it allows for sideloading.
Def sounds like something got flashed to the wrong parition though

No Volume Buttons. Is flashing custom recovery from 12s impossible?

Hey Guys,
I want to flash twrp to my OnePlus One, but CyanogenOS12S won't let me without a hardware boot into recovery mode. My OnePlus' volume buttons do not work, thus i cannot do a hardware boot to recovery mode. When i boot into cyanogenOS and try a software reboot into recovery mode it defaults to Cyanogen's stock recovery. (And yes I have unchecked "update Cyanogen recovery" in developer options)
Is there any way for me to flash and access a custom recovery? I very much hope there is as I would like to have this phone rooted to perform nandroid backups and to attemot to fix the low mic volume issue when im not on speakerphone.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks,
Mrcalebw
easiest way is going to be fastboot flash a new recovery like twrp using fastboot. Just google. As of now you have stock cm recovery installed
Cannot leave the fastboot screen

Hey!
Thanks for the reply and help. I tried to do this, but once I
fastboot falsh recovery recovery.img' which is successful
then 'flashboot boot recovery.img' The fastboot screen lights up brighter and my oneplus disconnects from adb and my computer and i have to do a hard power off by holding the powerbutton.
And I'm back where i started without a custom recovery to boot into.

If your phone is rooted. I guess it would be. Then try this steps to reboot it to recovery
No need of pc.
1. Download TWRP manager from the play store
2. Open the app
3. Open menu in the app by touching the left top corner of the app.
4. Touch on the reboot option and then
5. Touch on the reboot to recovery and touch yes.

Hi,
Thanks for your help. The trouble is that i do not currently have root on my phone.
If its possible to get root, without having to boot into custom recovery that would be fantastic.
I'm beginning to feel like this might be a lost cause.
I'd love any suggestions though!

And how do i flash supersu zip from fastboot? Without having to temporarily boot into a custom recovery?
As far as I was aware you cant flash supersu unless you have a custom recovery installed, which i cannot install (original post issue)
If theres a command I'd be very grateful!

Did you tried any oneplus one tools?
You can cannect your phone as adb right? Then try this tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/toolbox-oneplus-one-toolbox-t2808987
It may help. It has the option boot to fastboot and boot to recovery.

I have tried a couple of toolboxes. The trick there is that adb commands only send once the phone has booted and is on debugging mode. When full boot happens, the cyanogen stock recovery overwrites the custom recovery.

Stock on TWRP loadingscreen

Hello Guys,
I have a huge Problem! I installed Twrp and CosmosOS.. after that I installed Magisk. I clicked long on the reboot button and clicked reboot recovery. I also tryed to click all the combination to get somewhere but nothing worked.. Please someone help me... Im lost..
Worse case you could just flash stock images and start over. Could first try flashing twrp recovery image

Is there an bootloader button? Like Power + Volume up, for recovery?
Try open cmd
Adb shell halt, after that pull USB from device.
This works for me to shut down the device.
Now connect phone with USB and hold vol -
Your phone starts in bootloader
Powered by View 10
I had the same Problem! I used the buttoncombination vol- & power - when the Phone boots, plug your USB cable that is plugged into your Computer in the Phone and you will boot into fastboot mode. Flash stock Images available via Firmware Finder, extract SYSTEM.IMG from UPDATE.APP. you will lose all data from your internal sd :/
Thanks for you're help

It's likely to be happen when you dump recovery img on wrong partition.
Try rebooting to recovery mode and connect with adb

Can you reboot to recovery mode?
Try it by press and holding VOL UP + PWR buttons(or your device may had other combination).
You can only recover your phone, if your phone shows up recovery mode.

K20 pro is not rebooting into recovery

Hello everyone,
Lately I've changed my rom from to another (both of them are custom). The problem is when I try to reboot my phone into recovery (TWRP) but instead it reboots into bootloader.

I have an advanced menu in the rom where I can choose if I want to reboot into recovery, system or boot loader, so I choose recovery but the phone reboots in bootloader. Even if I just pressed the power button and volume up it also go to the bootloader

Means you still able to boot into recovery, just that u must use command lines and the recovery's not there when u try to boot into it by other method, correct?
If so, download OF latest build R11.1.2.1 ( zip file ) boot into TWRP, flash the zip, boot info OF, flash the zip in OF again, then let it do the auto reboot into recovery. When done, clear cache, Dalvik then reboot to system as normal.
Then try to reboot to recovery by normal ways, inform me back if it's work
Thank you for your reply. I will try to do it after some time because I'm busy right now hopefully it works
