I just got the phone and heres what I did. I rooted and installed aboot. After that flashed TWRP then flashed Synergy rom. Superuser will not work. Superuser kept crashing but then I installed the newest superuser via TWRP and now it doesn't crash but still I don't get allow/deny prompts. Any helps? I know my fare share about android and I can't figure this out. I'm about to knock my f****** phone through a wall. Please help.

You can try SuperSU as alternative.

i flashed EP4P stock, deodexed, debloated and rooted and all was good for a couple of weeks. 2 days ago i was able to use barnacle but i went to use it today and it says i do not have root privliges so i wnet to superuser to check for an update and it says i do not have root. tried restarting phone and thats about it. anyone know why this happened and how i can fix it?
I think the easiest thing to do would be to reflash the rom. Is it an ODIN only flash or do they have a CWM flash posted as well?

Flash this in your recovery.
thank you for the quick replies.
i am new to roots and have only used odin twice.
i really hate to reflash with odin only because it is a pain to get everything back to how i want it. but if i have to i will.
i have never user CWM. so i will do some searches for how to unless you can point me in the right direction.
i assume i need to flash the superuser into the recovery with CWM????
i do have superuser that showed up after i flashed 2.3.6 and i tried reinstalling it and still the same thing

you have to use Odin to flash CWM, then immediately boot into CWM after and flash that superuser.zip file... if still nothing download/update it from the market

it was probably a bad download, redownload and try flashing again
I am completely new to rooting. I tried to use super one click on my charge after it was updated to 2.3.6 and it failed, so from what I understand, one click methods are out for now. I want to root my phone still, so where would I start? And would that method involve me having to do a factory reset? Thank you
How to root your Droid Charge
Like the title says,
I installed the i9023 OTA which is no rooted.
Then I flashed the recovery to CWM and flash the superuser 3.0.7 efgh.
I know 3.0.7 efgh is no for ICS,but in adb, su command works well.
However any program needs root just fails.
Is there something missing causing the problem?
so do i.
and my cwm 5.0.2.3 will be reset to default recovery after halt.

that's normal.
Every official Google image does that (it rewrites the recovery after boot completation)
As for root: I can confirm that superuser is not working here too
Me, too! So sad that I cannot use market enabler, hope they can update the clockmod and the su faster.
Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed still not working - tried it over the weekend - on HTC mts4tg - it installs/flashes fine - but any apps that need root - titanium backup, rom manager, etc... dont work.
reverting back to Superuser-2.3.6.1-efghi-signed worked fine, know its a step back but at least my apps that need "root" work
Maybe the rooting of ur device didnt work like it should. Maybe this will work for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
you could try su from here it may be a more current version than what you have http://goo.im/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Hi all!
I rooted my S4 with the all-in-one toolkit but I have the feeling that something didn't worked out. First thing, I don't get the boot screen with the red writing..I still have the normal one. It installed TWRP recovery alright and it works well. It installed SU, but i had troubles installing busybox..it gave errors about permission, even if I gave the installer root permission at launch..I had to install busybox through recovery. Other thing it didn't work is uninstalling system apps..I tried with Titanium, Anttek app manager and even with manually delete the apks, but after a reboot the apps and the apks reappeared..
All this things made me think that something went "not-fully-ok" in the unlocking process...
Is there something I can do to verify this?
Edit: forgot to say i'm on stock rom, last update.

Hi, are you using a custom ROM or the stock ROM? The apps reappearing issue is on the stock ROM and happens on the 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM because HTC in their infinite wisdom (lmao who did I copy) introduced a write-protect feature in the Jelly Bean kernel. So installing stuff will work, but only in recovery when the kernel isn't active. I assume this is how you installed Superuser - through recovery. To overcome this issue you can flash a custom ROM like ViperOneS or if you don't want a custom ROM you can flash a zip in recovery which I will provide the link to shortly
Edit: page 212 of the official jelly bean thread in the general forum

... Or you can flash custon kernel (I.e.elementalS 2.5) if you want to stay on stock and have no write protection......

Until CM 10.1 reaches stable, I think i'll stay with stock rom..does a new kernel provides other benefits?

is this a device you have unlocked and bought brandnew yourself? or used?
mayby you dont have full root (after flashing root)
if your on JB maybe you have to flash the edited init d file for full r/w in system

Thank you all for your replies! I'll try and flash this zip with twrp..the phone was used, but the previous owner did nothing like flashing stuff, or rooting..
Does flashing this package allows me to permanently delete system apps?
And are there real benefits with flashing a non-stock kernel?
Meanwhile, bought flash image gui, flashed the kernel with it, and again with recovery. Now I can uninstall system apps permanently!

What version is your toolkit? 3.4?
It looks more like you S-Offed, because HBOOT didn't give a da*m about the red message when S-Offed.
You're running stock. Kernal reboot would force it to reinstall.

Hi all,
My phone is 2.3.5 stock with sense 3.0
I have followed the easy root kit to successfully updated hboot, unlocked bootloader, installed CWM and rooted with superuser working just fine.
However, I did a factory reset from the Settings afterwards, and superuser started to misbehave:
1. it either won't load with a complete white screen.
2. Or it would load successfully but won't be notified when other apps trying to request root access.
I have booted the phone into recovery and flashed the su.zip couple times, but nothing has changed for the better.
I am wondering if I have to
1. rerun the root kit one more time to unlock BT, flash CWM and install SU.
2. or have to go back to the original state by rerunning the RUUxx.exe file downloaded from HTC, then run root kit.
2.1 Will rerun RUU clean up all the CWM and SU stuff and go back to the original state?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Try reflashing SU in CWM or flash superSU...you don't need to run the tool or a RUU.

Thanks for your advice.
I did flash SU several times to no avail. I can see the SuperUser in the app drawer, it just won't work as before.
So I can flash superSU in the same way in CWM?
Would that override SuperUser or they would just co-exist?
Thanks
Flashing SuperSU did the trick!!!
Much to my pleasant surprise, SuperUser is automatically removed! At least I don't see it in the app drawer anymore.
It is rooted again now!
Thanks a lot
Glevitan rocks!

so, when i rooted my N5 i wanted to see if i could use super user and not supersu, so i uninstalled it. but not how you think. i went into the supersu app and uninstalled it to add a new superuser app. i downloaded super user but it didn't work. so then i posted a thread on here asking what happened and i had the response that i need to reflash root. after watching so many videos on how to do it my N5 stays stuck in downloading and doesn't do anything. i still have an unlocked bootloader but i cant flash supersu. i assume i need to be rooted to reflash stock recovory...
To flash root, you flash the root zip from you custom recovery.

You need to have a custom recovery installed to flash SuperSu.
Everything you need can be found here:

oh, i thought i needed to be rooted or have supersu to even use a custom recovery. (in my case TWRP)

Nope. Just for those silly "companion" apps like "TWRP manager" need root. But you don't need those. Boot into recovery manually to use it.
