Please excuse my girlie-ness
Ok here is my dilemma. I just got this phone not realizing the galaxy s2 would be coming out soon. Wasn't thinking...silly me.
Now i have until september 14 to exchange it with best buy if the s2 happens to come out in time and the buy back with best buy.
My problem is that I have no idea if the ATT version of the s2 is even going to be worth it. I hear the battery isn't going to be as large and that they're changing some things.
Should I return this infuse completely and just go buy the euro version from ebay? Should I wait even longer for this s2 Plus I've heard of here and there? (does that actually exist?)
Should I just say eff it and wait another 6 months for my next discounted upgrade and go with whatever is newest then before my 300$ buyback expires?
I want the super crazy fast dual core and the gig of ram....and the overall awesomeness of what I've heard with the s2

Well the window of release per documents on the web is between now and october 2nd.
I have had the chance to play with one....it is awesome...and no, they did not change much.
Is it worth using the buyback.. i dont think so...there are better phones that will release in q4
Is it worth returning the infuse...i say yes...as long as you don't mind patin $100-150 more for the SGS2 when it does finally release.
I have had sources tell me this weekend...next weekend.. and Oct 2nd ..the roadmap says q3 so it honestly could be anytime in September

Thanks! Just realized i can't return it completely bc i won't have a phone...forgot my iPhone sold on ebay.
do you happen to know what they've actually changed?

If the Infuse isn't enough for you, trade it back in. I was in the same boat, but I've noticed nothing where the infuse isn't fast enough for me.
The Galaxy S3 is coming out next year anyway, or another 'super phone'. You might as well wait until ICS drops if you are that worried about future-proofing your phone.
I thought about the same thing...return my Infuse for the SGS2 or hang onto it. I decided to hang onto mine because the 4.5" screen has won me over. The power is perfectly sufficient for me and the style and shape are just right. I also am blown away by the extraordinary sound quality of my Infuse. It's at least on par with my Cowon D2 and iPod Nano 3G, both of which use a Wolfson audio chip.
There's so much to like about the Infuse that I just don't care about the SGS2 enough to give it up. My Infuse is satisfying me perfectly as it is...well...with the expectation of the coming Gingerbread update that I hope will fix some serious issues.
Whether you keep your Infuse or not is really a matter of personal taste. I find my Infuse to be so endearing that I can't part with it.
appreciate your answers! Thank you.
I guess I just don't want to go and switch it for the s2 (if it comes out in time for my swap thing to still be good) and then be stuck with it and not like it as much.
I do love the screen. for sure. and the battery life is amazing for something with a screen this big....its not too slow thats for sure...but the sound was way way too low for me so i have galaxy tuner and its a little better but i can't find a good set up for the app so that it sounds good and loud at the same time. it gets real tinny sounding.
I also hate that the media hub can't connect with hdmi....has anyone found a work around for that yet? Google and forum search has failed me so far.
Also my camera seems to be kinda grainy and the videos i upload to my youtube channel are always off synced with sound.
I was planning to buy nexus s nd i even got a deal for $359
But after the launch of samsung galaxy nexus, samsung has stopped all the warranty and after sales service for the nexus s
So which phone should I buy??
and my budget is of $360 Only
What carrier? That is alot to pay for an outdated phone. You can get a used phone that is much better for $360...

Don't get a nexus S, its a hardly upgraded vibrant that was a complete waste of money on release. I bought a used one for 180 and gave it to my 5 year old sister it was such a letdown.
If you really must have a developer phone when wait for the Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise, I recommend any of the Samsung branded phones. I love my Galaxy Captivate, my wife uses the new Galaxy Infuse and the Galaxy S II looks bad-ass IMO.

I don't completely disagree, although the Vibrant was priced similarly just anywhere I looked (at least in my part of Canada back when I bought mine).
Sometimes wish I got the Vibrant for the Gorilla glass, but I'm definitely loving the dev community the Nexus S has. That's what is really making me feel like I made a good decision.

Enough in my honest opinion, seeing how some lesser phones still get development for a few months after becoming "obsolete" in the sense of their technology getting slightly outdated.
Nevertheless, I think all Nexus models will get decent development, judging from the Nexus One and S.
It's a game nobody will win, technology is forever going further and the moment you buy something, there's something new right around the corner or already available on the market. You can always decide to play the waiting game if you're not in need for a change right now, just don't get stuck waiting forever...

A damn lot! Look at the Nexus One! If I'm not mistaken, Dr Kmobs from cyanogenmod is still using and developing for his. The nexus One was either the first or second device to get an ICS SDK port. Not everyone can afford the latest and greatest, any dev phone will get a fair amount of custom ROM love. If you can get a good deal on a nexus S, and you think its what you want, go for it. You aren't gonna be left behind any time soon. That said, if you want the very latest and greatest, get a galaxy nexus, its a huge upgrade.

Nothing like a huge cover to keep it from getting scratched!
Can't wait for the day our phones are near indestructible bricks lasting forever on a charge. It's sad to have such sexy technology getting covered with covers, enhanced with bulky batteries and needing to be constantly plugged in.
Likely the only reasons I miss the days I was using dumbphones, they were indestructible or of no real value, they would last a week on a charge and definitely did not cost as much.
I'l have to buy an unlocked phone(NEW)
if you guyz dont recommend nexus s then plz suggest me with something else
Samsung captivate(bad)

my suggestion, watch Craigslist. My gs2 cost me 280 dollars like new.
I think xperia neo is also a good option.
I am getting it for the same price($359)
But I want to get the ICS update as fast as possible...
And acc. to you guyz wen will we get some used GALAXY NEXUS (NEXUS PRIME)
on ebay.com
I will strongly recommend you Samsung Galaxy S2 if your budget provides. Other than that, Nexus S is actually a pretty good phone (very good for this price). The next Google phone series is Galaxy Nexus which will be priced around 35k (INR). That may overkill your budget.
Better stick with Nexus S. It will also get the ICS update very soon, at least earlier than other non-stock android phones (Galaxy S2).
As for Xperia Neo V, it is a great phone too, if you can get it around for 15k (@ adexmart). You may want to try both of these phones at a retail store. Thumbs up to whichever suits you better.
To be honest, you may want to ask for such queries @ thinkdigit. They're aware of the Indian smartphone market better.
I love my NS. The development community is very active, and it'll get even more so when ICS is pushed to the NS!
Plus, with Voodoo and a very stable CyanogenMod build, it blows the doors off my old Vibrant. The stock-black with no carrier branding looks very sexy, too.

Hey...well im Egyptian too. good to see u here, this phone is great, only few unfortunate customers got buggy devices, just make ur mind up, if u want better looks and camera go for neo v . im using this phone from around 6 months and i have no problem till yet...and im happy with it, only problem is the battery drain...Salaam
gt i9003 is a mid to high end phone with a good price tag (costs a bit less than galaxy ace in some stores!) and it a good phone for normal everday usage. The battery life is great, the battery can last for 3 days if you are normal user, mine is celebrating its 4th day
Its very worth its price, only if you are unfortunate and get a buggy device. Normally 1 change of the motherboard and it'll be alright
Cheers

This phone is definitely worth buying especially now our development community has grown so much recently
i recommend the 9000
it has a much bigger community and therefore more roms
from what i heard a working ics rom too
depends on the price you pay!
If its under 300 US$ (without contract, of course), its worth every penny!
If its above this pricetag, i wouldnt bother with it since its a rather old device with not much developer support

well we can't say that its grown bec. dev's come and go mainly bec. not much people have this device compared to the galaxy S and S2 but there is progress on custom roms on this device. But it all goes down to how much you want to pay. For me it's definitely worth every damn cent.

I think it´s a great phone to buy.
It works well, I like the battery capacitiy (mine lasts between 1,5 or 2 days.), you can install lots of roms and updates easily.
Its a pretty good phone , good for the price too. i bought it to get into Android and i fell in love with the OS , i always hated Apple and their products so Android came to the rescue.. Samsung support for this model however sucks but the community is always building custom roms and fixing things up so its pretty well worth it..
Hi XDA,
my girlfriend got a LG Optimus L3 (40€) from me to WhatsApp with me.
Now her parents want to buy her a new (real) phone around 250€. Her sister chose the Galaxy S3 Mini (250€).
Of course I said, choose the Nexus 4 (310€), choose it, it's awesome, Nexus 4!!!
But she thinks about getting an S3 Mini, too.
Are there any good Android phones for a price around 250€? With nice design and a good camera?
I looked around and the S3 Mini seemed to be a good choice, but WTF, it's half as good as the Nexus - for 60€ less.
Any recommendations? :/
Thank you!
If you're looking for design and camera, Sony will be a good choice. Though the hardware and OS is quite backdated

Thank you for helping me.
Well, I showed her all (mid-range) opportunities and she saw the Nexus 4 in a shop, finally she chose to go high-end for cheap with it.
It's available right now in our German Play Store, her parents are even paying her the full 310€, so here we go, luck for both of us

I always stay away from them low end Androids... They usually don't have the speed, space, and usually cause more frustrations than they are really worth... Invest in a mid to high end android and put insurance on it... She will love it!!!
well my 2 cents...
I think you must look at Sony TIPO..its Great for Girls..
well it depends on your girl friend
does she care about the look of the device (the fantastic pinky thing thta makes calls ), or she needs a device that do everything without lagging and with easy UI
if she wants the look , i cant help you
if she needs a good device capable of doing nearly anything , go for nexus 4
then use any launcher to make an easy UI and she will be totally happy

Okay I hope I am allowed to post this in general, and I hope no one gets offended by anyway lol
I am going off to college (UCSD) this fall. I am considering buying an iPhone just for the fact that I want a completely functioning phone as my daily driver and I don't want to find myself trying to solve issues during school.
I am asking for some opinion.
I love android and flashing, but I find myself using a lot of time doing so, I dont want to do this and get distracted while I dorm in college and have other things to worry about.
I guess my question is, should I consider a new iPhone, or are the new phones like the s4 just as reliable? I know I'm going to get a variation of opinions, but that's what I want I really cannot make up my mind lol.
It just seems to me that all the apps are more reliable to use on an iPhone since they are developed for that specific device etc.
Thanks in advance for your opinion

the iPhone 5 is great device if you find one on a good price... has LTE for T-Mobile...
the only drawback si the there will b a new iPhome comming out in the nexts 3 month, so if you buy it brand new on a full price, you will lose bout $300 in value by that time...
might consider finding one on craigslis for $400sh, but be carefull, as i just got burned w a lemon last week...
bought a NOTE 2 for $360... used it for 4-5 days and got reported stolen... no service...
going to sell it for $300sh now for use on another Network, and take the loss...
back to the Blaze for now...

Have you considered running just stock on the blaze? If you want real, real stable/reliable, stock is the way to go for this phone. No need to troubleshoot issues, wipe davlik, catlog and that kind of stuff. This also applies to all smartphones. Part of flashing a non-stock rom is assuming that nothing is ever 100% stable, but can be sometimes. Most roms are 99% stable, but it seems to be that the time you REALLY need your phone for something you discover that 1% bug
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see what Thomas will bring with all his hard work on CM 10.1. But I just haven't ever been happy with standby battery life on CM10/CM10 based roms. That and wifi calling is a must in my basement (where my home office is).
Back on topic... regardless which device you get running stock will ensure 100% stability, that or running a stock themed/debloated/deodexed rom is also a safe way to go. Not to knock iPhones (they aren't that bad), but my father in law seemed to always be having issues with his iPhone 4. He kept losing his contacts. He just got a 5 a few days ago so I don't know how that will fare... I personally have over $100 in apps from the play store, and I don't want to have to buy apps all over again... soo.... My next phone will be a nexus 5 (got 4 bills saved already!) :good::victory: Just a few months to wait!
So yeah, I would recommend a nexus 5. Just wait 2 1/2 more months... rumors have it dropping in October. Current rumors have it with a snapdragon 800 (double the graphics perf from the 600 and modest clock bump), and a Nikon camera... drool....
yeah im looking to buy a Nexus 5 aswell, but i dont think it will have the latest procesor
its a mid tier phone, i personaly will be just happy w a LTE chip and timely updates...
whatever else they can cramp over my expectations its a plus
PS the Note 3 will be a beast... rumored to have the new flexible displays that you can not break and that latest procesor w 3GB RAM and LTE-A ...
