Hello everyone!
Does anyone here require more than hardware keyboard layout?
I think the standard way (a menu after Ctrl+Shift) wastes too many time. Are there any alternative programs to do that, like ReCaps for Windows?
I like ThumbKeyboard. I like assigning the buttons to do specific things, like typing in my email address, pasting, etc. It has a great key binding feature.

Still haven't figured out this whole thread tagging business, so mods are welcome to move/rename this thread properly if I got it wrong.
I'm considering the transformer just for that sweet keyboard dock. But I need to be able to type in Hebrew. Anyone know if this is possible with the hardware keyboard?
As far as I understand how Android works, it's the keyboard that's responsible for determining the language it's typing (instead of sending keycodes for the operating system to decode and translate to the preferred language). So my guess is that the answer is no, but if anyone would know, they'd probably be roaming these forums...

I think it's up to the input method engine (IME) to determine exactly what to send to an application. I believe an IME has the option of intercepting hardware keys and doing different things with it.
So, if there is a Hebrew IME you would like to use, it may work. It probably won't handle all of the hardware keys, but it'd probably be a start.
So does that mean that I need to talk to a software keyboard dev to support Hebrew on hardware keyboards?

Fyi I have the dock and I'm french canadian, and though the dock works great (especially with Polaris, you can actually get work done with this tablet!) I still haven't found a way to type accented chars. I can't believe they didn't think about it, my guess is there is a way to do it but I just don't know how. Probably the same for hebrew. I'll let you know if I find something! On the virtual keyboard, I use thumb keyboard, which is amazing...

There are two new SKUs with Canadian bilingual hardware keboard.
ok, found out how to do accented characters with the keyboard dock. It's really simple in fact, it goes hand-in-hand with the language defined for the Asus Keyboard on the TF. My TF is configured in english, and I use Thumb Keybord in english as my virtual keyboard (which handles accents very well), but when I plug into the dock, I just switch to Asus Keyboard, configured in french. So I now have all I need (ex: éáàùìçêẽ). My guess is it would work the same way for Hebrew. I can't try it since I don't have the Hebrew language pack, but I know Google package different language packs in their OS based on where it's headed.

I use the hacker's keyboard when I am just using the tablet and would love to have it or another keyboard/input definition that translates keys on the dock keyboard to more closely resemble the hacker's keyboard.
One of my major gripes is the lack of an ESC key on the keyboard (translating the back key to this would be great).
Also, when using hacker's keyboard with connectbot and then plugging in the dock, key translations are totally lost.
Any recommendations for keyboard translation or even terminal apps that know how to perform keyboard translations?

Hello,
I have a german keyboard dock and I use SwiftKey 3 Tablet, because I like the split keyboard layout and word prediction is good.
The problem is that the special keys on the keyboard dock like <>\/{} etc. are at the position of the US keyboards layout.
SwiftKey fortunately has an option for the hardware keyboard layout, but unfortunately changing to german still does not fit all special characters.
When I plug the tablet into the dock, this message pops up:
"Change to ASUS keyboard to keep consistency with hardware keyboard."
Do you now how to fix this without rooting? And if rooting is necessary, are there fixes?
Greetings from Germany

Hi,
I tried taking notes with Supernote, but it has one HUGE bug which makes the app nearly unusable for me. When using the physical keyboard, after reaching the bottom of the page, it bounces around so I can't see what I am typing. I believe this is a known bug, but I don't think there is any solution.
In Freenote, when adding graphic annotations, they do not "stick" to the page. So if I type up some stuff, then add in a chemical formula or whatever, and resize the page... the annotation will not change size with the page. So it ends up on top of text or whatever. It is annoying and I don't know a solution.
Any ideas, or any ideas for a better notetaking app? Anything that can use the physical keyboard, and can also use handwritten text.
Thanks

Hi all,
just received the keyboard today as an accessory.
I am wondering a little about some keys I'd like to find and seem unable to.
To quickly move from one homescreen to another I can swipe the screen, it there any other key combination which does the same ? Mousekey plus mouse-swipe does not feel the same.
Also a button to swap the notification would have been somethin I'd expect, I do not find it.
Is there maybe a pdf-file around somewhere which includes such information.
Thanks in advance,
Ruud

Take a look at these. I just put them in one place for you.
1. If you download Any Cut for Android and install it, then run it, then create a short cut for the activity "Quick Launch" (there may be two entries, if it doesn't work with the first one, try the second one), then using this "Quick Launch" short cut, you can define any program to be run using the hotkeys Search+(a-z,0-9), ie. Search+Z could be used to run Marvin.
2. Keyboards
See my initial thoughts on keyboards on the bottom of this post.
In case of problems with diacritics when docked, be sure to use KLSwitcher for setting your locale.
You can also try External Keyboard Helper Pro for custom layouts.
• TouchPal Free but skins cost. A favorite KB. You may have to switch back to default KB when docking.
• SwiftKey Tablet ($3.99) This KB has a large following. It’s proven to be a wonderful tablet specific keyboard that permits to do standard layout or even “thumb” style with a gap in middle. Very customizable. There is a free trial available.
• Hacker's Keyboard is a popular one for anyone that finds themselves commonly fighting to type syntax.
• Lots Of Other Tablet Keyboards To Try!

There are "page up" and "page down" functions on the keyboard (Fn+up, Fn+down) that work, at least in the stock launcher.
You do 2 finger swipes on the keypad when it is set to gesture mode from settings to replicate screen swipes
Wow guys, what a little sleep can do.
Answers from You three is really highly appreciated. Will take me until the evening to try them out, thanks a lot !!
