Hey guys. My phone is using too much ram lately. I have zram and SD cache enabled but my available ram dips to 81mb or even 60. I do clear up my recent apps but still have almost no ram. And usually I only have Nova Launcher, Chrome, facebook and music running.
I have faux kernel, 3.33 firmware and ViperS 1.10
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
What version of faux kernel do you have? And was it installed with Yank555 Aroma?
Some people had complained about it, but the reason was the LMK values - the numbers by which the android OS decides to kill applications when the system is low on memory.
Also, do you have zram enabled? Perhaps hard deep as well?
All these settings could affect the RAM..

Linux manages Memory very well. It, on most systems, tries to be almost 100% full Cache, DBC, ...... It's different to Windoze, etc. Different paradime.
That said I have used ATK to see what's been started BUT DO NOT use to to automatically kill stuff. Most things will re-start and you'll end up using more juice from the battery. If there are apps running that you don't use delete the buggers.
I turned zram off in aroma and now my phone won't boot

Could you please post the output of the 'free' command from a terminal?
Also, did you flash faux's kernel over another kernel by chance? If so, there might be some previous kernel leftovers which gets in the way. See what files there are in the /system/etc/init.d directory, and post it in here.
One last question, did you install b12 using the aroma installer?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
Yeah it was with aroma. I installed it over bricked 1.4. But I flashed Sebastian earlier today and when I flash b12 again I get stuck at the splash screen so I can't provide you the log.
And also, with faux it just shows 578 mb of ram in task manager but with seb of shows 584

Sorry I meant to say that faux's kernel wont boot, like it wont show the boot animation since after the splash screen goes away the screen is balck and it goes to the splash screen together in a infinite loop. This all started after i flashed it over sebs kernel earlier, so I'll get a fresh install of my system with bricked and flash faux again. My phone is perfectly fine. Ill report back.
Installed Faux again and it booted this time, still have the same memory problem

have you tried redownloading that rom, copying it to your sd card then re-flashing?
Hey Charge users!
I'm a first time poster long time lurker. I've had this Charge since June 2011 and have flashed many roms from Kejar31's Gummycharged thru Dwitherell's Tweaked (currently on 1.5) and I've always seemed to be limited by the 512MB internal ram which shows ~220/380MB taken after the rom boots depending on what rom you're using. As you add apps this memory gets eaten up and when you forget to push to sd, the phone starts lagging.
People run the script with SQlite 3, run V6 supercharger memory management, clear cache and dalvik cache, etc.
I've heard of a "swapper" before upon first learning android terms but have never seen it discussed thoroughly on the charge threads. I got a class 10 samsung sdhc card and replaced my stock class 4 card, and have allocated 1.5 GB for space on the sdhc card to act as extra RAM and really notice the difference in multitasking. Now my Boat Browser retains the web pages I was viewing in other tabs even after I've gone back to the home screen (doesn't have to reload).
Requirements: Rooted, have a sdhc card that will read faster than 6MB/s (according to the dev), and be running a compatible kernel (im using pbj 0130).
Things I've noticed in my 2 days of usage so far:
- phone faster, responsive
- can handle multitasking much better
- can handle heavy apps like vlingo
- negligible effect on battery life thus far, although if you leave too many things open I can imagine it killing battery life
- have not tried but dev says in description that you can allocate up to 2.5GB of extra ram
In Play Store search: "swapit ram expander"
Hope this helps others out! I know the app is expensive, and I'm in no way related to or even know the dev. Just thought this would ease a lot of frustration on the charge threads and keep ppl from jumping ship for a while! Please post back if you try this with a stock class 4 sdhc to give feedback for others.
Thanks for reading!

PBJ has swap capability built in...you just have to enable it. However, performance is always going to suffer, whether you notice it or not. For me, the performance difference is negligible until I try to play music, then it's bad....skipping/stuttering and the like, and I don't care how fast you SD card is, its going to be hard to avoid that.
Our RAM is really only a limitation for very heavy multitasking, and I haven't run into a scenario where I actually thought I needed more.

Recently i hv tried this on my hh (AryaMod V7 N7000)
Has anyone run this to 100%?
I tried using the scripts in Nocturnal_Special_Edition_1.1_Odex. I had no idea how long this process was going to take. Parts of the script asked me to edit a .jar file because the scripts have problems with odex and ics. I eventually gave up on the script altogether after getting to 50%. I also didn't notice any positive changes after what I had done.
Let me know about any of yalls experiences!?!?
Bro I did the same exact thing... Thought I could enable it and check off a few tweaks with mobile terminal. Gave up on that ****. Some of the more experienced users told me not really to mess with it as I'm still a noob.. if you looking for performance tweaks, try beast mode kernal... He did away with fast boot, so its totally twrp flashable.. awesome speed, awesome battery tweaks, and stable..

Yes, flashing another ROM will indeed "undo" the changes done by V6 Supercharger because you have replaced all of the files it modifies with fresh ones.
The Supercharger script was just updated yesterday

Ok our device is great without ram assistance the reason i decided to get this mod ported is I still have my 530mb Linux swap partition on my 64GB SD card from when I was using it on my GT-I9300 and I didn't really want to re-partition my SD-card so instead of wiping it off I might aswel use it as SWAP and hey if anything it will help our devices , it wont hurt it. And yes I know we have plenty of ram but ay if there is even the slightest chance it may help down the track why not ay? Ok so if you want to know about the MOD here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814311&highlight=swap
But do not download the MOD zip on that thread as it is not ported to our device: bellow is our version of the mod.
-=ATTENTION=-If you have installed my rom > [PANDORIAM] < or any other rom with Busybox and Init.D support then just skip to the second step
1st STEP - Note you will need Root access, A kernel with support, I am using >>> (Perseus) by Andreilux & Init.d support Look at my other thread if you do not have Init.D support it can be easily done. Also to have Init.D support you will need BusyBox I reccomend Stericson Busybox . Once downloaded and installed open it and Make sure you choose to install busybox files in >>>>>> system/xbin you will see an option for this when you open up the busybox app.
2nd STEP - You also need a partition to be used as swap. I used a mini-tool partition Home edition (Free) Now when you make your partition use the first partition section of your SD-card for your main partition that you always use, then leave some space at the end of the SD-card (I would say no more then 250mb and this is probably more then enough for our devices) to make your swap partition please note the partition type HAS to be -=Linux Swap=- now thats all done................................
Instructions are very simple. Go into Recovery Mode > Choose to install zip from sd-card > select the hard-swap zip file > reboot
If you want to uninstall do the same thing but flash the uninstall zip instead.
If you want more clear detailed description and also instructions about this mod then goto the main thread I pasted above. I tried to test this mod by opening every app i can think off and not closing them to try and see if the swap will be used, I managed to get almost 6.5mb of the swap in use LOOL you can see how good our memory is, as time goes on and your device does not get switched off, this amount will likely rise or go down depending on what you do for example after a day of hectic use it actually reached 30mb of swap used but after awhile this went back down (Because our phone is a machine!! ).... Oh well I guess my device is now even more future proof
Thanks to Yank555 for porting this for us this also Andreilux for his awesome kernel and whoever else I missed. Peace V

I don't get it... we have 2GB of ram on a mobile phone, what are you doing that requires a swap file on top of that may I ask?
though, if it's just because you can, then very well haha!
tbh on a mobile device I firmly believe the main use of a swap file is to wear your SDcard down faster.

LOOL yeh it is mainly because I can hahah and because i didnt want to re-partition my SD-Card so instead of having 530mb wasted, I used it for swap, and i thought i may aswell share it. And yes if the swap is heavly used it may wear it down faster which is why i said create the small partition at the end of the sdcard so it wont affect the majority. And because we have 2gb it wont be used very often so should be fine that being said people on devices have been using hardswap for over a year without damaging anything. And thats with a device with less memory so its actually in use alot more then ours

I have WIFI with your kernel but its SLOW and laggy as heck. When I got back to my stock kernel WIFI will not turn on. Can you post steps to restore the stock modules please.

a reflash of the nandroid boot partition did not work. Still no WIFI. However if I reflash your kernel wifi returns. What modules are being deleted?
Running smooth as silk over here! Does the faux app work on this phone and if so what are the recommended settings that you use please?
Really nobody else with sdcard issues? My 64gb card won't mount. Was working fine before installing kernel

Something is definitely up. Phone seems lagier and using Linpack I now get the same and lower results for Single Thread and Multi Thread. It's as if the other cores aren't being enabled.

My phone runs pretty smooth I have noticed though that the default clock speed is at 1ghz I believe that may be the reason why people are noticing lag ?
Also my WiFi speeds are normal.

I noticed that to 1036. I had to reflash my rom since it broke WIFI.
I noticed before I installed faux kernel app the the kernel is set to max cpu speed at only 1000,as soon as I raised it to stock speed it was working perfectly

fauxsound coding is actually done in my private build, but HTC did something non-standard and is conflicting with fauxsound kernel drivers.. that's why i didn't release it yet.. need to troubleshoot and see what HTC has done to the standard sound driver from Qualcomm...
HTC always do something different from everyone else including the reference design from Qualcomm.... Sometimes they OVER engineered...
