Hello all:
I am considering buying a HTC X7510 (with the front camera). One major attraction for me is the ability to do video calling (by Skype or perhaps another service), and the front camera in the X7510 seems to be useful for that purpose.
I did a search of this capability and it appears that in the US neither ATT nor T-Mobile offer video calling capabilities, but all posts I have read are dated from 2007, so I am wondering if this situation has changed.
So, I'd like to know if video calling in the US is possible, and if so, if it is possible on the X7510.
Thanks in advance.
Video calling
I'm not in the US, but I also partially chose to buy a 7510 instead of the 7501 because of the forward-facing second camera, which I intended to use with Skype. (Not that I'm anything special to look at, but at the time my grandson was on an extended stay overseas, and loves to see the tractor and farm...)
Well, to answer the question about Skype, their mobile version doesn't appear to support video calls - what a bummer....

So you want someone to help you turn what is essentially a brick into a product so you can then turn around and sell it to them?
Damn this guy is clueless, dude android is not a cab that you can simply install on any wince device lol, it requires a lot work, for example someone would have to make a linux kernel for it, then drivers, after that make sure all these drivers work in userland android, not to mention your going to run into a LOT of problems and issues along the way, anyways like i said android IS NOT A CAB, so i would recommend selling all does "tablets" and buying there already loaded android counterpart.
Rafyvitto
Im not clueless i just got the idea about it being quite simple from reading another thread on here about install android onto the 7inch version of this APad and changing the roms on them, all i basically want todo is to put the same google android that the Apad 7 uses onto my Apad10 because they are basically the same except for the 10" screen.
It's not possible; not with your skill level at least. Return it and ask for an Android version.
does it possible?
i saw this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871391
and this one:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/18812-howto-dvb-usb-support/
is it possible to make it work on the tf101?
There is already one thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261074
Theoretically it is possible, we jusd need the drivers and kernel modules
As davebugyi already mentioned, I guess this depends on availability of drivers and kernel modules.
At home, I have my tablet connected through wifi to my Windows 7 mediacenter PC running Media Portal TV-server software with an USB Anysee digital-TV tuner with DVB-T card (Dutch Digitenne, Standard resolution), also capable of DVB-C. Through the aMPdroid app I'm able to stream Live-TV, switch channels, watch EPG, record and watch recorded broadcasts on my ASUS, stream other audio/video content, some remote-control functionality to control Media Portal software on my PC, et cetera. You need BS Player Lite with the ARM7 plugin (and aMPdroid) on your tablet to be able to watch these streams. The video quality is quite good, but aMPdroid needs some development. The best thing is, I can watch a certain channel on my TV-setup and simultaneously record or watch another channel on my tablet using a single TV tuner!
Hi all,
I'm looking for help in identifying the exact hardware of my android TV box. It was sold to me as a CS918, but it has working Bluetooth so I'm told that means its NOT a CS918.
It came with Android 4.2.2 on it, but seems to be handicapped to 720p video and all I can get out of it is stereo audio (on SPDIF). From reading various posts it seems this is a kernel issue, so I am after a custom ROM, but need to know what the hardware is before re-flashing the device.
It came preinstalled with Beyond XBMC and I have also tried official XBMC V13 (Gotham) and found both refuse to configure for anything other than 720p. The confusing thing is that the TV is reporting a 1080p signal on the HDMI.
I have attached (or tried to) an image of the PCB in hope this helps identify the hardware.
In summary, can anyone tell me what ROM will work on this device giving me 1080 and surround sound from it when I run XBMC or a variant?
Thanks
Hi!
I am planning to upgrade from my current Motorola Xoom MZ601. It is running 4.0.4 and is not upgradable to newer Android versions.
I use the tablet almost exclusively for viewing video via HDMI-out connected to my flat-screen.
The Xoom can handle both 720p and 1080i video without much effort, using the MX player app.
It can also handle both hardware and software decoding.
My question is:
Which 2014-2015 tablet would You forum members recommend that have the same (or better) HDMI-out graphic capabilities, compared to the Xoom?
I know for example that my current MZ601 has a hardware flaw which prevents subtitles (.srt-files) from being shown via the HDMI-out when decoding video with the hardware decoder. I'd like to avoid similar problems when I upgrade.
All input is appreciated.
