A few days ago I was in the process of changing roms. I was using clean rom 4.5 beta. During the process I accidentally hit Factory Reset on the bootloader menu. I then proceeded to change roms but all of my sdcard data was erased and I cannot mount the sdcard at this time to put a new rom on there. I tried RUU (currently running 1.85, tried updating to 2.20) to no avail because I always get stuck at the sending screen for hours. I've emailed a few devs already who could'nt help, I also busted my ass searching forums and googling crap :crying: Any ideas ?
Do you have a recovery installed? Clockworkmod has been known to have some issues with the onex. I would recommend flashing TWRP in bootloader.
It may say in TWRP that you cannot select the sd for mounting. However if you check your PC, should still show up and may also ask for you to fomat the drive. Its ok to format fat32 since you've allready wiped. If your running linux or Mac. I'm affraid I'm no help at all.

You will in affect be formatting the sd card. At first its a little scary cause your affraid that you'll loose your recovery. I went through a similar issue.
format the SD then copy and paste your ROM or custom ROM to SD. Then flash away to your hearts desire. :highfive:
HIt the Thanks button if I helped.
Running with HOX CM10.

I was able to format and put a rom on the sdcard :highfive: but its failing to install because I cannot mount the cache.
Sorry Just got home from work noticed your update. looks like your back east? Maybe too late for you. Any who, once you put your rom on the SD card then go to install, Under the TWRP file you should find the ROM.

In first place, i have a InsertCoin ROM, concretely "Insert Coin Sense 2.3.5 Sense 3.5 v3.4.6".
Now, when i want to install the new ICS vesion of InsertCoin, i read on thread that i need to update the firm, with this (mediafire.com/?utpdjggalstxz)
I just installed it, and now, my HTC restart again and again. I have tried to go into the bootloader by pressing VOLUP+POWER but it isnt work.
Please, i need help.
edit: i have downloaded the firm from the htc, and i have moved it with "ES explorer"... (the zip could be corrupt, but now what can i do?)
[Please forgive me if I have any gramatical error, im spanish. THK]
try taking battery out and put it back in.

Yes, i tried that, but nothing...
How did you try to flash that PG58IMG? It has to be a Zip file and has to be flashed via Hboot. Just put it on your sd card, turn your phone off and start it again by pressing vol. down and power. Confirm, reboot to recovery, flash rom, be happy.
[I would do a fullwipe and format sd card before flashing ICS, that does magic to me. After formating sd card, toggle to usb storage and put your rom on sd card]
Your phone is probably bootlooping because the new 3.24 firmware is not compatible with the rom you have on your phone.
You need to get the new IC 4.4.3 rom onto your phone, boot into recovery and install it. Then you'll be fine.

Yes, that is that i have done. The only thing that i didnt know is that the firm installation delete my rom. Now i need to install a new rom.
But i would like to know something before, could i to reinstall my old rom without doing any wipe? I would like to do some backups of some apps data before wipe all. Is this possible?

You have to flash the old Hboot, 1.17 or 3.12 i think. But the new ICS works only with 3.24
But you shoudn't restore anything, brings only new problems... make a full wipe and format everything before flashing, even sd card

Since I'm too new to post in the Development section and didn't want to start a new thread, I'll ask here..
I'm running ICS 4.4.2. The latest version 4.4.3 just got released. Do I need to do a full wipe to upgrade?
and also, If I was to upgrade to 4.4.3, should I select "upgrade from zip" or "install from zip"?
1) Full wipe is not necessary. I would clear the cache, though.
2) Install from zip
Hey guys:
I recently wiped my tab clean because it kept bootlooping, but I accidentally wiped my ROM as well as my storage. So right now, my tab is stuck at the unlocked screen, and I'm not sure what could have caused the bootloop problem in the first place.
Rooted, unlocked, running CleanROM 2.7.2 with Data2SD and Clemsyn kernel. I kept fsync enabled precisely so that my system would be more stable, but it appears not to be the case. Right now, my priority is flashing any OS/ROM onto my tab so I can get it to start booting. Any help? I'm really hoping this isn't a brick scenario.

Can you still access recovery? From recovery I've able to reload the stock update files which extract and load a blob that completely rewrites my system.
If not, can you access fastboot? Load it into fastboot and then re-install a recovery, and then from there use that to either install the update or reload your rom.

I can still access recovery, but am not sure how to or which stock files I'm supposed to extract. I've been looking into fastboot right now, but don't have the SDK installed on my computer and frankly, I'm just not sure what to do with it.
Ideally, accessing the stock files and loading a blob would be the best solution, but I'm unsure how to proceed. Thanks for the advice, as I'm frantically trying to find a solution as the tab won't shut off and I'm afraid it's going to overheat.

I don't understand your issue, if you still can access your twrp, then just reflash your cleanrom 2.7? If you want to bypass data2sd for now, just flash clemsyn_data2sd kernel, you should able to boot up.

Like a fool, I wiped both internal and external storage. So I don't have the zips or backups I had on my sds. I've tried removing the sd and putting backups and zips I have on my computer, but TWRP doesn't recognize the device since I have no OS.

make sure you format your sdcard with fat32 using your pc, then copy the rom zip file on to it, make sure your device if OFF,put the sdcard back into your device, boot up into twrp, select mount and and put a check on everything, then try to install, it should see your zip file.

Reverted back to Stock and flashed CleanROM 3.0.1 with Asus Stock boot animation this time. Yes, I was using the Nexus boot animation before, but Asus Stock isn't making a difference. Same boot loop. Question - Haven't found a clear answer
I'm new to flashing and because of this, I'm constantly flashing Roms over the past couple weeks messing around.
I've determined Viper to be my daily driver so far, but I'd really like to be able to just flash a backup on rather than reinstalling everything and reconfiguring it the way I like.
1) If I do a backup with Clockwordmod on my current system, then say, Flash Baked on my phone, do I need to flash the boot.img back on the phone from Viper (I use Flash GUI) before I flash the Nandroid of Viper back on my phone? Or does the backup (nandroid) do this?
2) If I format my SD Card parition, will I lose anything like my CWM installation? (or the ability to flash)
Sorry guys, this would help me a lot.
Thanks

For a start dump CWM and get TWRP. Any backup you do will need you flash the boot.img that goes with it and ya do it the way you said. No need format the sd card.

Question 1 is answered and is what I thought but wanted to be sure!
Question 2:
Just to be more clear, I bought the phone 2nd handed (it was mint) but the SD portion is full of folders, pics, etc that the previous owner had. Rather than going through everything and deleting, I was wondering if simply formating the SD partition would hurt anything or cause anything to be reinstalled for flashing?
I've had 0 problems with CWM with flashing 8-9 Roms so far. Is there any particular reason for switching?
Thanks for the reply, Learning lots of good info.

Flashing is fine but you can't mount sd as mass storage and have you ever tried turning your phone off? The way I clean the sd is to do it before flashing a new rom and I don't format it but just delete everything there.

I've got it figured out.
Since you brought the topic up, one last question.
I got CWM installed before coming to XDA and have noticed most recommend TWRP here.
Is it simply because its touch based? Or is there anything in particular that it does better? I've had no issues at all with CWM and don't mind using the volume rocker/power button.

Its got bugs like not being able to turn your phone off and if you mess up somewhere it will bootloop to the recovery and can mount sd as mass storage. Ya it does have touch but you can get touch version of CMW too.

Hey, I use a GT-n8010 tablet, and I wanted to flash the HyperDrive ROM. So I went ahead, and did all the necessary things only to find that AROMA installer froze every single time, trust me when I say I tried over 10 times. So then I tried to mount my internal SD to try out another ROM, only to find that CWM doesn't mount my internal SD to my PC. Then, I tried copying it over to an external SD and then chucking it into my tablet, but CWM is not able to read my external SD card. I had wiped all my data and cache and dalvik cache. But then accidentally, I formatted my internal SD as well, so I don't have the ROM file on it.
Now, I tried to flash TWRP using download mode, but then it says USB debugging has not been enabled. I'm not able to go back to my stock ROM since I wiped all my data, I'm not able to flash back my nandroid since it's in my computer and I can't transfer it over to my tablet. I can't flash a new ROM since none of the SD cards are mountable.
Some help would greatly be appreciated! Please help out a noob here, I don't have any idea as to what I should do next.
Thank you so much
No one? Someone please help me out! I'm completely lost!

I did do that, but for some reason, it's stuck in the Samsung logo. And I tried resetting from stock recovery, but still got the same result.
I think you should flash stock with odin or flash a different recovery. I think it is called high on android.

Ok, so I was unlocked/rooted on current Lollipop firmware, TWRP, and running CM12 daily. I started having problems with TWRP freezing anytime I tried flashing or backing up. Would not allow me to restore. I formatted internal storage using TWRP and then tried installing new ROMS from external SD. TWRP would freeze for a second, then restart. I tried sidelong adb and it fails everytime. I tried RUU through SD card method and it takes 20+ minutes to load and then says it's a wrong image and makes me reboot. I can access SD, TWRP but it's limited on use since it keeps restarting when I try to flash, and I can get to fastboot/RUU, however my bootloader now says relocked. I would appreciate any help/suggestions.
Do you have another sdcard to try. It could be your sdcard is going bad. Are you s-off ?

Thank you very much for the offer! I found out last night what it was... A bad SD card. As son as I pulled it I was able to do everything normally. I even tried it on another M8 and got the same errors while that SD card was installed. Very odd, but thank you again for the offer!
