Mods..
Can we please work on getting separate CM10 threads started in the Android Development sub forums. On the current CM10 nightly thread, users are reporting bugs on three different nightlies and its becoming a bit congested and confusing
Thanks

What are you proposing?
Give it another day lol. I'm sure they are going to only offer the unlocked bootloader versions from here on out. You are talking about the confusion between 2 nights ago and last nights new recovery version right?
I assume he means because there are three individuals putting out different kangs
Invisiblek
CVPCS
Dhacker
Now combined with the whole "is it KEXEC or non-KEXEC" it just causes more confusion with everyone trying to find "THE BEST" version, despite them being all essentially from the same source
Hopefully now that the bootloader is unlocked, we'll get official nightlies and the problem will solve itself

In this thread, OP states that his rom, and some others may be affected with the brickbug. I'm running Sky ICS, its a fairly recent version (from a few weeks ago)
I'm worried that my phone may be affected (I have the Rogers i727r). Can anyone confirm that my phone is in danger of dying on me? And if so, how can I avoid this.
I used Chainfires app and it said that my emmc chip is probably affected, but I'm reading that bricking occurs based on the the kernel I'm running

Did you read the threads you linked to? Or this one?
This post has some info.
It seems that the Skyrocket does have this problem, but the circumstances have to be perfect for it to occur.
Since the kernel source code for the ICS leaks for the Skyrocket is not available there is no way to know if the kernel is safe, from my understanding of the issue.

Your question and further discussion would be more appropriate in one of the already existing threads about this. Starting new threads on the same topic just fragments the discussion.

I think you are being hard on OP for no reason. This is a serious issue and I was very concerned. I have read the linked posts and additionally I did some research and here is what I get that applies to me
SGS2 Skyrocket IS impacted
[Edit] All SGS2 SkyRocket recoveries - including one I use Touch recovery to install ROM) are GB based. Source this post
My Kernel is NOT impacted since it is GB(I am on MHX superlite 3.1 GB rom)
.

I have read the linked posts and here is what I get
SGS2 Skyrocket IS impacted
I have no idea what recovery I use (I know I use Touch recovery to install ROM) so I don't know if condition#2 is met
I have no idea if my Kernel is impacted (I am on MHX superlite 3.1 GB rom)
It would be a great help if some SGS2 Dev explained how it impacts SGS wrt its recovery and kernels. Which are safe and which are not.

Yes Thanks. Additionally most recoveries used except maybe Cyanogenmod ICS recoveries are GB based. So we are safe.
Thank you all for your explanation and help. I can rest easy knowing that I'm pretty much safe

If not reading and searching are no reason then you are correct.
It is important that each user evaluate their own risk and they can only do that by reading the discussions and processing the information in them.
Yes. The i727 with hardware revision 0x12 could hardbrick with an mmc erase if the emmc chip is faulty. The portal has a full story about it, and Samsung appears to be working on a solution. I have been on several ICS roms now, including the oneclick version of the first leak, and have never had a single issue. Running Sky Ice as well, and it is very safe. I would stick to it, at least till Samsung releases the fix. No harm in being cautious till it is solved.

well you could have made constructive, helpful posts to help other memebrs until you are allowed to post in the appropriate place.
in response to your inquiry, i cant help. AOKP has been the only reliable CM10 rom for data for me. No idea why, but thats just how its been behaving for me.
if youre AOKP build is before a certain date you should try a newer one. an RIL fix was built in recently for this issue.
I just reboot and 4g comes back full bars. Happened like twice only though. Love aokp!

Hey guys,

This does not belong in the Dev section! It belongs in the General section. Also, this has been brought up several times already in here. Please search this forum next time before making a post, especially in the Development section.
Please note the Development section is ONLY for posting your own developed works, not links to other sites with ROMS, or other peoples work, that all belongs in the General section.
I have reported this to the MODS so it can be moved.
P.S. here is where this was first mentioned, I did a very quick search in here for crackflash.

They are auto-builds from STS's github - and they pretty much dropped work on Edison a while ago... So, probably not going to work or help much - it's all been on github for months, and the crack team just runs auto builds for the different devices - but don't let me stop anyone from trying..

Concur. Haven't gotten it to boot yet. Last attempt was January 13 nightly.

These will never boot guys, they are setup to auto build sort of like how the "official" CM builds do.... And this was covered a while back, as I mentioned search is your friend.
These are from the STS-dev team, and they never really took this very far, these are builds based off of code that were never finished, and it just auto builds using that same code everyday, so it will NEVER boot. This was abandoned a while ago.

I have zero experience building roms but i have recently switched from an Infuse 4G running the Beanstalk rom from scott.hart.bti. The rom has amazing customizations and too many features to list. It is based on CM10.1. I was hoping maybe somebody could help me port it over to the skyrocket. The beanstalk thread does have instructions for porting to other devices but having zero experience in doing so i thought i should ask for some help and see what other people are willing to do on this as well. The thread is here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091900

I did read through that i just wasn't sure if i should post this here or in that thread. I was sort of hoping that somebody who knows how to do this stuff might try to build it as i cant even attempt to start for about a month as i am in the process of moving across the country. Figured if maybe people saw how many options there are in this rom it might spark some interest and get some more variety of roms to choose from (not that the roms available aren't already awesome )

Seems pretty well put together and simple to make it work on the SR since it is based on CM10.1 - if all goes well, I'll post a flashable zip for testing to the rookie thread at some point today.
Just waiting for the repo to finish syncing ....

I did notice, I just didn't think you'd appreciate someone else doing your job for you.
Lets keep on topic here ... if the mods want to move this, that's up to them.
And speaking of on topic, build is just about done. Had to restart it twice for a couple minor things that I messed up with the device specific inclusions. The vast majority of packages built just fine though, so it should be too much longer.
I also elected to build it with the Marla kernel, not the stock CM10.1 kernel.

Those of you running Cyanogenmod on this device should NOT install the nightlis from the th or 7th of september. they will not boot!
What are you talking about? This is the most random and unorganized thread I've ever ever been to. What do you mean they won't boot? What nightlies? What roms ? And where are you getting this info from because I seriously doubt CM TEAM just stopped making working nightlies.
