Hello Everyone,
I recently bought a 16gb sdcard for my sensation with CM7 rom. Everything has been working great (cyanogenmod is awesome!) and then i began randomly getting the sd card error message. My phone randomly unmounts the sd card and of course when that happens my phone is pretty much useless because all of my apps are on the sd card. I was so excited about the 16gb chip but now I'm starting to think that I should just go back to the 8gb and call it a day...... any suggestions?
Firstly, it's unlikely to be the ROM. Lots of people use CM7.
If it were me I would first of all pop the back and eject, then reinstall the SDCard, as it may not be seated correctly.
If that didn't resolve the issue, I would inspect the contacts on both the card and in the socket, to make sure there wasn't an obvious bit of dirt or something which might be causing an intermittent contact.
Replacing the 8GB and running with that for a while might be a good test. If it runs fine with the 8GB, then likely the new card is faulty and perhaps you should take it back for a replacement.
Finally, I would always recommend using a good brand of SDCard. If you are investing in a nice phone (or a contract which comes with a nice phone) then you should also pay the few extra bucks for decent quality accessories.
Hello. Recently just got a 8gb class 6 micro sd card for my HTC Desire (CDMA). When I put the card it it's not being picked up by the phone. Not giving me any kind of error message in the notification bar, just acts like no SD card is installed. My previous card was an 8gb class 2 card that came with the phone, so I know it can do high capacity. Threw the card in a card reader and re-formatted it FAT32, still nothing. Tried putting the card in a friends Samsung Galaxy and it picked up fine. Also my old card still works when I put it back in the phone, so I'm truly stumped here. The phone is rooted but Im not running any custom roms..
Well i think the problem in in your phone. Maby some dust on those golden pins or something you cound try another card to check if its the card or phone itself.

My old card works fine in my phone, and the new card worked in a friends phone, and on my PC. Tried re-formatting (FAT32 and FAText) and naming the volume. For some reason my phone just won't pick it up. No error messages or anything, just acts like there is no micro sd card in it.
im on my second s3 (first one screen shattered) which ive had for about 3 months now and since new i got a 32gb scandisk 10 sd card, everything was working fine till about a week agao then i started getting "sd card unexpectly unmounted" i would remove the card, reinstall, then would get the message " preparing sd card " then phone would show card but either say "blank card or unsupported files" then sometimes the phone wouldnt read that there was a card installed. i tried pressing mount sd card and nothing would happen.
now the strange thing i have a galaxy tab2 and the 32gb works great in that, so i tried formatting card with tab2, reinstalled iinto s3 and same problem. now i did take the 2gb card i had in my s3 and it works fine, the phone is rooted and have always ran Cleanrom or Wicked sensations roms. i did a loy of searchs but havent had much help on finding an answer.
somebody please help.
Bill
anyone?
I had the same problem, come to find out, it was a cheaply made sd card. Think I paid 10-15 bucks at most for a 32gb class 8 card. I bought a scandisc card and have been fine since.
And just for info.... I read online that others were having this same issue and that it was the card not seating in the slot very well. If you took your phone back to the store they would exchange it. I took it in, got a new phone, and the same thing happened (unrooted, rooted, romed, it didn't matter) Got a new card and it was fixed.

Have you tried connecting it to your computer via sd adapter to see if files are there. If you cant read any files it may be a bad card but you can always format it while connected to the computer and see if that helps. If computer reads your files i would suggest you move files to computer, format, then try it on your phone and if it still doesnt work than maybe its the problem suggested above my post with it not seating correctly. Good luck
My phone is just over 1 year old now and I've never had any issues before. A few days ago I would get the message that the SD card was removed unexpectedly when it wasn't, and then it would work for a few hours and repeat. Now, I cannot get either of my 2 micro sd cards to be recognized by my phone. Both these sd cards are able to be read by my pc so I am confident they aren't corrupted or have an issue. Is this most likely an issue with the SD card reader in my phone or somehow the sd cards have been corrupted?

I have the same issue since last month. Tried to flash back to the stock 4.4.2 Rom (From Lollipop) and now the SD cards cannot be even recognized by the phone. My PC can read/write to the SD cards without any issues. It seems it is a common problem for LG G3 phone. Mine is D855 version though.
I just had that problem as well and it ended up with the SIM not being detected as well. Had to get a replacement. I assumed that the SD card/ SIM tray combo was a removeable component - it's not, it's soldered to the phone so I couldn't replace it. (D850) Now, I'm worried that this replacement is going to suffer the same fate... Hopefully later, rather than sooner.

Here is my update:
Sent in my phone to LG to be repaired and after receiving it back I had the same issue. LG claims they replaced the sim/micro sd reader. Then I thought it must be the software, so I downgraded to the stock software from the factory (4.4.1 I believe) and I had the same issue. Annoyed, I told LG they did not fix the issue and sent it to them again with the hope they would replace it but unfortunately I received it back and they claim all they did was update the software (4.1.1 -> 5.0.1) and obviously this did not fix the issue. At this point I simply just don't use a micro sd card anymore because of this annoying issue. Still searching for a solution..
Exactly my problem. So annoying!!! I've got my sim/sd tray replaced and the problem occured for the 2nd time after 2 weeks.
I have had my S7 since pretty much the beginning, I was fortunate enough to receive mine fairly early compared to others. Along with purchasing my new phone, I got a Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 SD card to take advantage of the expandable storage. Everything had been going find until earlier today. I noticed that I got a notification that my SD card was corrupt, I didn't think it was that big of a deal as I didn't have very much data on the card as of yet so I clicked the option to format it. The phone seemed to be having issues reading the actual card as it couldn't seem to format it, an error kept popping up saying that the command had failed. I then put the SD card into my laptop to see if I'd have any more luck with it, and sure enough windows told me that the only way the card could be read was if it was formatted. After formatting the card through my computer, I put it back into my phone. It worked for about 5 minutes or so before telling me it was corrupt again, I'm not exactly sure where to go from here.
I had this Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card with Adapter (MB-MP64DA/AM) from amazon with my S4 with no problems since it went on sale back in December. Last Friday I got the same message that it was now corrupt and I need to format it. My computer cant see it and I have some intense data recovery software that cant help either. Since those little SD cards have a 10 year warranty I got on the phone to Samsung. I spoke with a Samsung Galaxy expert and they advised me to call their Micro SD support team at 1-800-726-7864. I'll call them tomorrow and report back what they say.
Prolly got a fake from amazon
Amazon do insist they don't sell fake cards, however I have had the exact same problem with the exact same memory card, also bought off amazon. I've used this card in a few different phones with no issue, however upon installing it in my GS7, within a few days I got the same error message as described here. I have contacted Amazon and have had a replacement card (same one) and will see how it goes. I'm on about day three so far with no apparent issues. Tick Tock Tick Tock.....
I'll probably call them up also.. but I think I'll see what happens with yours before I just destroy another SD card
Just got off the phone with Samsung. They're sending me a RMA form to fill out through my email for a replacement. After the whole amazon fake SD card fiasco they're going through they are being very helpful so far. If you can return to amazon it will probably be quicker but I am at day 100 or so with this card.
I think I have the same problem. I have a Samsung card also (not evo) and have used it in several phones without a problem until now. In my case the card corrupts at reboot. I managed to f around and somehow the card was readable again (after re-inserting several times). However on the latest reboot I the phone no longer detects the card at all.
I doubt I have a fake card as I have been using it for over a year now and almost filled the capacity (64GB). I even formatted it when I first inserted into the GS7.
I have since ordered a new card but I hope this phone is not going to be killing cards!
RMA received. Samsung wanted a jpg or pdf of sales receipt and a pic of the back of the card. Card will be mailed to Samsung at my expense ($2 ish) and a new unit will be sent out. Fingers are crossed that the fast charge tech isn't sending card killing voltage spikes through the phone.
Just a quick update guys, in case it helps anyone, but my new card replaced from Amazon is working OK so far without issue.
Update, whilst it hasn't killed my SD card, I've just had an update and after that it refuses to write to any memory card I have. So I'm returning it tomorrow, it will read OK, but not write to.
I'm using a samsung pro+ 64GB card with my S7 and that annoying SD card notification keeps popping out. Sometimes I could see another notification said SD card removed/unmounted unexpectedly then the annoying notification. I've tried using an old 32GB TF card and I've never seen this annoying notification.
My guess is that S7/S7E have some compatibility issue with even Samsung's own newer and faster SD cards.
I'm waiting anxiously for an OTA hoping this is a software issue. I hope my S7 won't corrupt my SD card.
Update: Just received my replacement micro XD from Samsung in less than 2 weeks, very cool. I like their new usb card reader, very slick. Well see how long this lasts. I also just had a OTA update to the S7. Lets see what they fixed.
BlueT
Same issue
Exactly same scenario as bensto23 first described, same SD card, however....I replaced that 64GB Samsung EVO with a Patriot 128GB and after about 2 weeks the same message popped up. But when I put this card in my laptop it couldn't see a problem (the Samsung was unreadable). So the Patriot went back in and everything was good until about a week later....same thing. S7 says the card is corrupted but it's not and works fine after removing and replacing. Haven't had time to call Samsung support but obviously this looks like an ongoing issue. So frustrating since this phone has been so flawless otherwise.
My S7 is in for repair as I type this. It's 6 weeks old. I had a 64GB SD card that I had used in my S5 for 18 months with no issues. I didn't have an S6 due to lack of SD slot and not waterproof. At 3 weeks old, the 64GB card developed a problem. I removed it from my S7, put it in my laptop, only to find it was corrupted, and I couldn't do anything with it. I put it down to being one of those things, and bought a 128GB SD. 3 weeks in again, and exactly the same fault! It is a hardware issue with the S7. I put my 32GB SD card in from my LG Leon, and the S7 wouldn't read that either. Be interesting to see what Samsung will do about replacing cards that have been destroyed by a phone!
Think i might be facing the same problem. When i put in a Sd card my phone freezes up a couple of times a day and without a sd card it running fine. I even think it messed up my first sd card because even after a format i cant write files bigger then 1 gb onto the card without getting a error on the computer. Also i can only do a quick format and if i do a full/long one it will eject the drive and fails every time. Im to scared to try a new sd card and think ill send this one back for warranty.
corrupt sd card
i have same problem with A7(2016) but i use 64GB U3 kodak SD card. it works fine until last week. i saw that i cant play musics so open memory by ES file Explorer and it says that empty. but when connect it to my loptop it had no problem and i find some files that recently created and remove files with 0 byte size. then connect memory to my phone it works nice but some day later the sd corrupts again and i repeat every thing i do last time and it work but sometime later corrupt again. i am confused how i can stop this cycle
help if can please
sorry my english language is not good
Every phone I've had, every forum for that phone, complains of issues with Samsung cards, I would never touch Samsung cards. I've never had an SD card corrupt or fail but then i've never bought a Samsung card.
Got the same problem. Every time I reboot or unmount the external sd-card, the card becomes "corrupted". When I put the card in my PC it's just fine. I can read and write to the card.
I've got the 128gb sd card from Samsung (got it for free with the purchase of the phone).
Getting sick and tired of having manually backup and restore to my SD-card when I reboot my phone. Does anyone has a solution for this?
**EDIT
This must be software related, since when I do not reboot, the SD-card works perfectly fine. It only happens when I reboot or unmount.
had the same problem in my s7, it turned out for me the culprit is when I enable the pics saving to extsd option in camera. this corrupts my extsd.
before extsd it worked perfectly fine for days and weeks and survived plenty of reboots in the S7 (and in my previous phones as well), but as soon as I enabled the pics saving from camera to extsd option in the s7, at next reboot the message about corrupted camera came out. I can replicate this problem with these exact steps, so it is 100% sw issue for me, and related to that option in camera settings... if I use my intsd for camera pics, everything works just fine, I can see and access all my other content in the extsd etc.......
