Difference between cm9 and cm10? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im a fan of cyanogen but i cant decide between cm9 and cm10. Im on cm9 atm. Can some help me with this?

Cm10 is the latest and greatest. Its a lot faster then cm9, and has google now and such. I would take cm10 over cm9

You can flash cm10 over cm9. Update gapps and clear caches.
CM10 runs really smooth. You will loose tablet mode on a lot of apps.
Check the screenshot thread in general if you want to see.

CM9 is based by Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0.X
CM10 is based by Jelly Bean (JB) 4.1.X

CM10 much faster
As stated above , much faster and has google now. There are still a few glitches with CM10, but worth upgrading just for the speed alone.

Well i own a different device (Sansung Galaxy W GTi-8150)...we do not have cm10 but a fully working beta version of cm9...what i just did was to flash jelly bean libs through cwm in order to get speed of jb on on cm9...and it works....maybe you should go for that...

That can be a recipe for a non-booting device...

Of course cm10 works good in our tabs as omap architecture the processor is open source so developers can work well to port cm10 to our devices
I'm in cm10 now in my tab and in cm 9 in my phone (s2) as cm10 is buggy in my phone as some hardware elements are closed source so developers can not work freely in the device but this problem not found in my tab (open source hardware so cm10 work sooo good)

CM10 is better

I don;t know if it will come soon....because they are already working on CM9 dev....i think it will take time for them to shift to jelly bean or else they ll have to leave to unfinished which seems very unlikely....let them decide...!!
But agreed.....don't create new thread for it !!

Yes, we will have our own JB 4.1.0. but we are not even finished with both ics and the kernel 3.0. there is no way that we can have jb without having both ics and kernel 3.0. jb is just an update on ics, smoothing it and changing the colors and stuff. nothing much changed but its smoothability. so, calm yo tits. hahaha, We'll get there. all we need to do is just wait.

Newbie help

Hi!
Iam new to android world using a samsung S i897.
I want to install JB and found the slim rom in this (awesom) forum.
The slim version of android is a part of it? What Im missing? There are features that where left out?
Iam confuse on which are oficial versions and how obtain them and which are mods or custom versions. Exist a ICS official rom for my phone? Is better upgrade to that version or the JB slim rom?
Thanks!!!
None of the Galaxy S series of phones are getting official ICS, let alone JB.
So anything for your phone that's ICS or Jellybean is unofficial.
And you should use Slim JB because its waaay better than stock GB and has no bloat, along with performance boosts. Heck, any custom ROM is better than official versions (aside from the usual bugs when they are in early development).

CM9
You may want to look at CyanogenMod 9.. or wait around for a CyanogenMod 10
Google it, I can't post links yet..
You can wait (stable) custom jelly bean version if that appear as it is the most recent android version.

The captivate has good jb ROMs such as hellybean or slim bean as you said. But these guys are right, there will never be any ICS or JB official updates for it because its an outdated phone much like the vibrant or original i9000. The closest you get to stock would be slim bean or slim ICS.

Serch normal JB Rom and flash that. Or ICS if you will not find normal stable JB.
Thanks!!
I will try that.

Best JB Rom for SGS4G

Which JB rom is the most solid for SGS4G at the moment? I've always used Cyanogenmod on other devices but it appears that for this phone it's quite broken.
Anything that's broken in CM10 for this phone will be broken in Slimbean or any other JB rom. If you want CM, use CM.
Our jellybean is in beta phase. Our jellybean 4.2 is in alpha and is currently not supported. Just a preview. Our most recent and most stable android version is our ice cream sandwich ROMs. So unless you want your alarm to fail on you like what happened to me I suggest you stay with ice cream sandwich.
@th3controller: how did alarm fail?
Anyhow, I think that if you are willing to run something without gps and camcorder, then CM10 is amazing. It is far more usable than ICS in that I haven't had it lag yet whereas ICS would lag if you would pull up the task switcher.

No best threads. Reported.
OP as you can see by the posts above...Jelly Bean is in the early stages (beta)...For the stability, well you are going to have to figure that out by trying the ROMs.

[Q] is there a plain AOSP CM10.1 Jellybean 4.2 ROM?

Hi
Looking through the various ROMs for the One S, it is not obvious (to me) if there is a vanilla AOSP JB4.2 ROM available.
My two other android devices (HTC DHD and Galaxy Tab 10.1) have a number of JB 4.2 ROMs which are fine daily drivers.
So what, if any, One S ROM is closest to the AOSP JB4.2?
Thanks
CM10.1

A good ROM is dark jelly cm10.1 4.2.1 jb
Using it myself and very happy with it

And Ill go against the stream (if you can call 2 ppl "stream" ) and say CM10 is the best
Namely, Dark Jelly CM10 builds. Love it and cant see myself switching anytime soon.
It has excellent battery life, excellent camera (compared to 10.1, in my experience), good reception, great performance and plenty - but not more than needed - tweaks to play around with.

[Q] What Ace Plus rom Will You Recommend?

Hey.I'm from the Xperia X8.Galaxy S3,Note 10.1 forums.I'm good at modifying phone and flashing roms.
So one of my friends asked me(After watching my Youtube videos)to upgrade his Galaxy Ace Plus.
I've done a Tab 2 7.0,Xperia Mini Pro,Galaxy Y and they all worked
Now the Galaxy Ace Plus is running 2.3.6 and it's terrible and outdated.
So my freind requested me to do a Jelly Bean rom which is clean, completely stock(No touchwiz bull****)and has everything working(Camera,wi-fi,etc)
So which ROM you could recommend?
This seems to be the most stable Jellybean Cyanogenmod version around (CM10.1 with 2.6 or 3.x kernel): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530712
There's a CM 10.2 here too (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528544) which works on the 3.x kernel, but you have to manually patch the camera (the patch file and instructions can befound within the thread).

if you wont stock rom you will get touch wiz bull****
but if you want jellybean the above user suggested are the best ones !!
I recommend cyanogenmod 10.1.3 kernel 2.6 / 3.0 by techkang :good: ! It's the better rom jelly bean for ace plus !
And i recommend for this rom : kernel 2.6 because the kernel 3.0 is not good for the battery . Battery drain fast with the kernel 3.0 .
CM 10.1.3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530712
if u want a Jelly bean Do Cm10.1
if u want a Gingerbread Do Omarilzz mod 9 - Inspiration v13 - Touchwiz ux nature - etc..
yes,Teckang's CM10.1 with kernel 2.6 or 3.0 are best roms for s7500 now,and kernel 3.0 performance better, but it seems battery drain faster
cm10.2 has many new feature,it also a great rom.
if battery issue and usb charge bug solved(and bluetooth in 10.2),i think
they all best roms

I would recommend CyanogenMod 10.2
It has hell lot of features and the in the latest build camera is also working which is a great thing..........
Only Bluetooth is not working which can be tolerated..........
