In my opinion the screen is really very nice, but the software is bad:
-no google apps installed
-not rooted, (and maybe not rootable)
is there any other user of these phone here?

I think that rooting and flashing manipulations are too risky to trust a google translation.

I have MTK 6575 V12. OV5467 Camera Model. Rooting I have done using TPSparkyRoot. I just trying to find CWM for my phone. If you follow up the forum may we get something.

I think that the hardware of this phone is very nice: the screen is very clear, and it is reactive. But the original software is a shame: android without google apps is like a having a casual phone!
I have found a way to go in recorery mode: it is in the "About Phone" menu, but I cant push the gapps from cyanogen (can not insert link here). I have an "invalid ota package, missing scatter" error message
I have found a way to flash my phone with a good ROM with Google Apps, including the store, gmail, maps...
Here is my solution.
uleFone V1277 / Star V1277 MTK6577 ROM Flash procedure
Warning:
This procedure is from my personal experience with my own uleFone V1277. I can't guarantee that it will work with your phone.
Greetings:
Thank you to the community of the following forums and websites:
forum.china-iphone.ru (For the ROM)
chinamobiles.org (For the flash tool)
bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.fr (for using SP Flash tool)
What do you need.
• SP Flash Tool: SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00 software (in attachement)
• A ROM, I used this one: V1277-1009T_120807_OV5647_ICS2V1_V02_COM_EN (i can't post url now, i'm a xda-noob)
• Windows XP (I tried with Vista/7, you'll need an additionnal driver)
How go in "Flash" mode
-Turn off the phone
-Remove the battery
-Replace the battery
-Plug the phone into the computer
After that, Windows should ask for the driver.
How to install the driver
For win XP the driver is in the \SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00\new usb driver directory. The hardware name is. MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port:
For Win 7 you'll need the additionnal driver in attachment
TIP:After the installation of the driver, the phone will show an battery logo and will disapear from the Device manager list. thats, OK, the phone will not stay in "Flash" mode if it doesn't receive instruction.
How to use SP Flash Tool
Thats easy, but need a good timing
First, shut down the phone and remove the battery.
Launch "\SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00\Flash_tool.exe
Sélect the "Scatter-loading" file:
"\V1277-1009T_120807_OV5647_ICS2V1_V02_COM_EN\BIN\MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt"
Warning: The "\SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00\MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" file is almost identic but will cause problems with the user partition.
The .img files list is automatically updated
Press the "Download" button. The program will wait for the phone
Plug the battery in the phone and plug the phone to the computer
If the driver isn't already loaded, windows will ask for the driver
Flash procedure will begin. The progress bar will change of color and will finish with a green "O"
Now I need help to find a way to Root this phone
Very very pleased with this device/ I have star v1277 vith 0.5 Mpx camera - all works fine. China make big step to beat us..) Antutu test - 5300 marks. Bright ant contrast display - and great assembling culture. No crack - device like stone. Battary about 1900 mA - not as china sayd 2200 - but its realy long life phone.
We need ceanogen for this device.

Pls where is the file or the firmware to root this phone located ?
There is a solution to root in the china-iphone.ru and chinamobiles.org forums (sorry I can't post url)
I have attached it
In English it is:
0. Install adb driver or android SDK
1. Connect your phone (started) to your PC, install the drivers;
2. Enable USB debugging Mode in the Phone;
3. Unpack the archive;
4. Start mkroot.cmd, wait three reboots.
It worked with my phone.
I hope it is still safe (without Virus / Trojan / etc...)

To flash the phone from windows 7, you'll need this additionnal driver.

Hi, I have just bought the phone called Star X26i from Android-Sale: Star X26i
It is quite a good phone with beautiful screen and buttons.
UPDATE 1: How to root Star X26i by using TPSparkyroot: Thanks to admonish & Ferny_77
1. ( Optional ) Download Android SDK and install from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2. Download TPSparkyroot OR ROOT v5 Eng By Canerpense
3. Run adb.exe.
4. Run TPSparkyRoot.exe and follow instructions.
UPDATE 2: Original Firmware 19th June ( Not tested ) : Many thanks to AshleyJackson94 for the firmware. Instruction is brought to you by zBeYuz
0. Download Original Firmware 19th June
1. MTK 6575 Driver must be installed ( Turn off the phone, take out the battery and plug into the PC, it will ask for installing a new device ):
2. Download MTK 6575 Flash Tool
3. a) Go to Flash tool folder and run SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe
b) Choose Factory Database --> Setup data source file: "MTK_DATABASE.mdb"
c) Choose File --> Open download agent file: "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin"
d) Choose Scatter File: "MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" in Firmware folder.
e) Choose the figure same as the picture here: Setting For SmartPhone MPD
f) After that turn off your phone and take out the battery and then hit the "Start all" button to start the process.
g) Quickly plug in your phone into the computer and the tool should begin to flash the firmware in less than 60 seconds if the driver is installed correctly.
h) You will see the green bar which indicates " Write Ok " means you are safe to remove the phone and the process has been completed.

1. For those who have Wifi issue, can try out this code in build.prop to see whether it makes any differences:
a) Change:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=150
b) Add below this code:
net.tcp.buffersize.wifi=4096,87380,256960,4096,163 84,256960
2-a. To reduce CPU speed in order to save the battery:
1. Install Setcpu in Google Play
2. Set Cpu to on demand instead of performance.
3. Save and monitor the battery life again.
2-b. A few profiles in setcpu to help manage the power ( Thanks to lansi23 )
There are 4 speeds for the phone:
166 250 500 1000
-When screen off
166-250
-In call

-Screen on
166-1000

Ok, I got it. Since there are two versions of this phone, one with MTK6575, which is 1Ghz processor, is my phone and the cheaper version runs MTK6573 which is 640MHz.
I think you should get MTK6575 version as it will make a big difference.
could be similar to the Star N8000, same specs, there is a root procedure for the N8000 in the Star N8000 thread but don't know if it will work for this phone...

I'v had this phone for a couple of days now and Im loving it. There is only one small downside, wifi SUCKS the battery out of this one. So I hope a future rom or modification can remedy this.
I managed to root it today using TPSparkyroot
Someone let me know if I should post the build.prop file for modification possibilites. Maybe there is something that can be edited to lower wifi battery drain

I have only tried one of the sim card slots, which works flawlessly. The 3G part is also working like it should.
I can also confirm that the GPS works with Google Maps

Ok.
After one day usage, second flashing and some more experience I can write something more
Rom looks quite nice. Flashing doesn't wipe my imei so You I didn't need to warry about that (I got it backuped up though).
Network location works nice.
Wifi has tha same week signal (I have made some changes to the hardware - just like on this page:forum.china-iphone.ru/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=19264&start=440) But it doesn't get siginficant better (maybe 10%).
GPS works fine - the fastest time for getiing signal is 26 seconds.
Google play works as a charm.
Yesterday i have made some mistakas during titanium restoring and that's why I got some problems with google play.
I have changed a bit the rom file and thrown away few chinese application that I couldn't understand
The only thing right now that bothers me (a little) is lack of a animation from desktop to the application menu. All others animations works but this one is missing. Is there a way to install new launcher (ICS default)?

There are not differences in display perfomance, because Mobile SONY BRAVIA® Engine influences on picture and video playing. Pictures and photos look better, sure!

also when i start the flashing tool connect my device a mt65xx preloader icon keeps flashing up in my devices on computer then going away then back continualy just doing this???my device shows in devices proper when connected normally for usb transversal etc.
please help as need to flash

UPDATE..Holy moly i did it all by myself jesus that was dam nerve racking
my first thoughts are good ones,for me the choice of animations is a bit ?
also not many ring tones and wallpapers???
again the wifi is not cutting it very poor,i have to be within 3 meters or so of router this defo needs a fix but for my first
visit into the world of custom roms i am glad i was able to sus it out.
i hope some very clever person can fix the wifi signal and build a very smart custom rom,i am looking forward to its arrival.

Hi guys have re flashed with Bruno ROM thanks Bruno...due to WiFi issues with the Taiwan ROM almost needed to be next to router and did not like the start up.
WiFi now great been outside and away about 20 metres and still has good connection.
as for any other changes in Bruno rom from stock rom i have no idea but so far seems good and stable.

Funny. I just googled it to compare the specs from multiple sources to verify the true battery specs and I found this link.
Looks promising, I really liked the G21 mtk6575 although I got "cheated" on believing it was qHD as the specifications given. It really is WVGA and the batteries were promoted as 2000mah, yet they were 1800mah.
Tell us if the specs were true whenever you recieve it.
I see there is no feedback yet as this device is pretty "new". I will surely give some info when I get it to my hands...

I still cannot root from that way, it say "exploit not found". Do you have any solution else?
Hi,the zopo Rom i had actually just want to try it ,
after I got me a black screen (in an attempt to exchange the recovery).
should have thought it fit the same baseband version and related hardware as well as doing anything , other than the home soft keys and the camera back, everything else works without crashing.
I Install the New Update from 8.6.12 , as Tf Update zip.
In standart recovery , you can go :
- phone Out
- Plug on pc ( When you have Install , right mtl. 6575 driver )
- Presse Vol + and power , wait seconds , Boot in recovery ( the simple version , without Backup Funktion )

2.Go to*setting-developer options-click USB debugging
3.Connect the phone with computer,turn on usb device.
4.Click the file you download from the link TPSparkyRoot.bat*
5.Your phone will restart first time,after the phone start finish(until you see the unlock),click enter in the window of TPSparkyRoot.bat.
6.The phone will restart second time,still the same as first time we did.Then start third time,same as we did in last two*times.Click enter,then phone was rooted.
7.You will see two more app was installed in your phone,that mean root phone successfully.
After successfully rooted, it will install rootexplorer.apk Chinese version which is rather useless for installing Market because it's all in Chinese. You should be able to

No , the home Button ( the zopo has 4 Softkeys ) Works Not ,
And the Backcam , doesnt work .
And Support only 483 mb RAM :silly: ,

I turn off and remove battery, then plug into PC. Windows show message "found new hardware" but it's fail immediately after that. In Device Manager, "MT65XX Preloader" appear then disappear repeatly, so I can't install the driver for the device.

There are different custom ROM's & root methods for the K860 & K860i. Most of the root methods & ROM's are compatible with both the K860 and K860i. Read the full thread to be sure.

There is an APK root method, linked below, or you can use the original not so easy root method:
I did some research on how to root it.
I found some steps on this Chinese website.
What I understand from it is you have to do the following steps to root:
- Set the phone to USB debugging in it's settings
- Make sure drivers are installed and the phone is recognized well by the phone PC software
- Close all the PC phone software applications
- Make sure no other android or smart/USB-device is connected except for the phone itself
- Download this file: root files, download link is also below in the attachment.
- Unzip it and launch the .exe (executable file) with the Chinese characters (should be first .exe in directory)
- The shell/CMD should start the root process
- The phone will automatically restart, don't touch it or any button, don't interrupt the shell program!
- Now after the reboot of the phone you should press any key on your keyboard when asked
- The shell program should continue, the phone will restart again!
- Again press any key to continue and wait for the shell program to reboot your phone for the third time (this can take some time, be patient!)
- When rebooted the "Operation was successful" message should appear in the shell program
- Now your K860 is rooted! Look for the root app in your phone to confirm. If rooting didn't work, try this process again
- Also update the Superuser or superSU app & binaries

I just got this phone/phablet as a gift. Specs are quite a beast: 1.4GHz quad core, 1280x720, 8GB ROM, 8MP camera etc.
Would you know if the Android UI is in Chinese? Right now I have the phone for sale on eBay because as far as I can tell, it's not going to work on AT&T or T-Mobile 3G (or more) in the US.

Yeah, it's only compatible with GSM Tri-band or maybe Quad-band. But WCDMA is only operating at the 2100MHz band (3G). So I guess mobile surfing will probably work but calling (2G) won't work in the US.
Default UI is Chinese, but it should have English in the settings also and maybe even Vietnamese.

Over 12400 antutu benchmark in my device, but I see until 14500 in others. The camera works perfect and makes awesome photographies. Games and apps runs very fast, GTAIII, Bard`s Tale, PES12, FIFA12, Asphalt 7....

I think my previous smartphone (Galaxy Mini) didn't even have a magnetometer, so if that doesn't work properly I think it won't annoy me.

And I`m agree with you, magnetometer isn`t big problem, but it work fine in test, fails the app compatibility, I think it´s a rom fail and it will be solved with updates.

PD: You must activate gapps by changing the permissions in /system/ by default google apps are prohibited in china.

So I'll have to enable 775 (rwx-rwx-rw) permissions in that folder?
guys, i am based in china and thought about this phone or the haier x5 pad511.
if the ui is also working in english i ld get it. am just worried lenovo wont release a JB update and if i root it (i have never rooted anything besides a bag of marshmallows) i loose any functionality. is there a JB rom? the miui is pretty ok.

I think yes, you must download gmail.apk, play store, maps.apk, etc, second you must copy and paste with root explorer in/system, and at last open the permissions of any lenovo apk in /system and put the same permissions in google apks.

The stock OS has an option to use an English UI. Market and some other Google Apps might not yet be installed.

yeah thanks i nearly forgot i read it proximately 3 posts prior :angel: anyway, i wanna know if theres an option fro easy market apk install, i hope i dont have to root or anything i thought i can just put market as apk on the sd card and install it.
btw. is the UI great or does it make sence to find a miui jelly beans... i m not sure if lenovo does code a JB

recently i bought Samsung i5503 (Galaxy 5) and i took more than two weeks to be able to use android on my handset
so i decided to share what i got with u .let’s start
U must move your data from internal memory to external memory
there r two method
The First :
1. ensure your handset “Galaxy 5″ is set to use 24-hour format
(applications-> Settings-> date and time -> Use 24-hour format
2. launch the Phone-pad
3. enter the following
*#272* the follow it with the time on the phone (4 digits) then follow it with #
example, the time on my phone now is 15:33 hence I shall enter *#272*1533#
4. the phone shall display a new window
5. select “XSG” and hit “install”
the Phone shall reload and your “Market Apps” icon which be there
this method didn’t work with me but it works with some friends of mine
The Second Method
1. ensure your handset “Galaxy 5″ is set to use 24-hour format
(applications-> Settings-> date and time -> Use 24-hour format
2. launch the Phone-pad
3. enter *#06# and store the number which will appear
4. in the phone-pad write *#272*xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the number u got from step 3

Here is a tutorial to flash VIBEUI ROM running KitKat (4.4.2) on Lenovo S650
If ur current ROM is ROW , follow 01-22
If ur current ROM is CN , follow step below 05-22
If ur current ROM is VIBE, follow step 13-22
Download all items below from here :-
1. Flash_Tool
2. S650_S119_131014
3. VRoot
4. TWRP_v2.6.3.0_CN
5. 4.4.2_GApps
6. SuperSU_v1.94
7. S650_VIBEUI_V1.5_xxxx_ST
Copy item 5,6,7 into ur ext sdcard
Install USB drivers 1st...
Download USB driver
Disconnect the hp from usb
Install exe file
Once finished, connect the hp to usb
How to flash scatter file...
Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
Select a the MT6582_Android_scatter_emmc.txt in ROM
Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
Check the field “DA DL All With Check Sum”
Choose Option->DA DownLoad All->Speed->Force to High Speed
Turn off your phone, remove the battery.
Hit Download / F8 button
Connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
The process will start and and wait until green circles display
Finish !
You can now safely disconnect your phone put the battery in and turn it on.
01. Off ur hp and take out the battery
02. Extract and Flash "S650_S119_131014-Lang_Fix"
03. Once finished, close flash_tool app and disconnect usb cable
04. Insert battery and turn it on, let it boot once
05. Root using "VRoot"
06. Install "MobileUncle MTK Tools" from Play Store
07. Off ur hp and take out the battery
08. Run flash_tool again
09. Extract and Flash "TWRP_v2.6.3.0_S650_CN"
10. Press F9 and answer YES (Don't press F8)
11. Once finished, close flash_tool app and disconnect usb cable
12. Insert battery and turn it on
13. Click 10x "Build Number"
14. Enable "USB debugging"
15. Reboot in Recovery via "MobileUncle MTK Tools"
16. Wipe dalvik cache , cache and data
17. Install "VIBEUI_V1.5_xxxx_ST"
18. Install "GApps"
19. Install "SuperSU"
20. Wipe dalvik cache and cache again
21. Reboot
22. Once ur hp boot, press + for English

yes it's a development version, but so far the only bug i noticed is the buttons backlight, but apart from that everything is pretty stable

Glad to hear that. Hope the stable version will be much better? Btw, how is the RAM level as well as system responsiveness? Head that kitkat has a lower hard requirement. It is true in practice? Or still just on paper as just a marketing bs?

Flash procedure
If anyone is interested, you can actually skip the Vroot part by doing the following procedure, this way means you don't end up with any Chinese apps or Chinese root program in your phone, just simple superuser !!!
Once you have chosen the scatter file in flash tool, click on the RECOVERY line, this will open up a window so that you can choose which recovery.
Choose the TWRP recovery you downloaded and then proceed with the flash procedure as normal.
Once finished reboot the phone.
Now power down
Now power on holding volume up and down together, release power button only on vibrate, this will boot recovery
You should see TWRP reovery, go to wipes / advanced wipe wipe cache and dalvik
Now go back to main menu and choose reboot, you should see a prompt that SUPERUSER IS NOT INSTALLED, JUST SLIDE THE BAR TO INSTALL
Now once the phone is rebooted you will see superuser icon on screen, click it and it will tell you to update, easiest is via play store ( make sure you added account ) , it will tell you upgrade success and tell you to update binary, do this too and now you are rooted
MIUI V5 - S650, its possible?

I wonder if you can install MIUI V5 on my phone or do not support, finally, whether I run the risk of brickar my device.
