My Net and DirecTV? - Asus Transformer TF700

Is there anyway to watch shows from my DirecTV receiver (whole home dvr) on my Infinity? I can see my receiver and my list of recorded shows using My Net but it fails to load any of them when I select a show to watch.

Nope. DirecTV uses the dnla protocol for the pc app, but it's all secured and encrypted. Currently only the iPad app has access. Would be nice though

Use the mynet app that comes with the transformer and follow the instructions. As long as you are on the same wifi network it should work. There are also a few dozen market apps that will do it to

UPNP server app offline use?

Is there a upnp server app out there that allows me to access the server when not connected to the world wide web? I don't have constant connection to the internet but I do have a secondary wireless network. But for some reason apps like Imediashare and Skifta don't work on My wifi without said internet connection. (I even tried sammy's allshare app, but that just force closes on my Transformer)
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try UpnPlay?

i have upnplay installed, but it won't allow my transformer to be the upnp server, only the controller/renderer.

Did you try the basic transformer app "my net" ... ?
Also, a quick look on market with DLNA server will at least give you 3 apps

Thanks for the tip, the Krakd rom removed the Mynet app before I knew what it was. I'll have to try it after I get home from work.
I've been searching for upnp apps, So if Mynet doesn't work either I'll try that out.
Thanks again!

use android tablet as a torrent box?

i currently have a asus transformer which i love to connect to my tv and watch content on.
i recently got thw idea of using it as a torrent box like i use my utorrent on my desktop on my computer with utorrent remote.
is there a torrent client for a tablet that i can control from my android device?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but you could try using the tTorrent Pro app on the table and an app called Tablet Remote installed on both tablet and another android device (which connects via BT) to navigate the tablet and play videos that way.
hmm interesting solution but i also need it to work with 3g like utorrent does

enable windows share on the WD and browse to it on the tablet using ES File Explorer and dump whatever files you want.
Look up double twist on play store. If you buy the full version you get air twist (stream to xbox360, ps3, apple tv, windows pc), and air sync (wirelessly sync between the 2 and sync itunes playlists). Been using it all month, i actually like it a lot.

Thanks a lot guys. Appreciate it, will try out both options.
Have a try with XBMC, I'm using it with a ftp share and works very well (only some delays with full hd big size movies)

app that supports external mouse pdf scrolling

Hi!
I play music, so i decided to scan all of my sheet music on my infinity. I need to find an app to scroll on a pdf using the "scroll wheel" on an external mouse. The scroll wheel works on browsers/settings, but i cannot find a pdf app that supports it. Any ideas/ app suggestions?

Wow - I can't believe that I never realized that you couldn't do this with 99% of the PDF viewers!
I did find one app that it does work in, but it's not a dedicated PDF viewer - it's Polaris Office, which also allows for viewing and editing of MS Office documents. Unfortunately, it's not free (at least I don't think it is - I already had it installed, so I'm not sure)...
So far, that's the only app that I can find that allows you to scroll using the mouse wheel in PDF documents! Very strange, especially since, as you've stated, scrolling with the wheel works everywhere else...
I did download and try a bunch of other PDF viewers and haven't been able to find a PDF-specific app that it works in - I have no idea why that is...

Ebookdroid is excellent. Just change the mouse scroll settings from %5 to say %20 or whatever you see fit.
Regards.
