[Q] [Help] Brick Due To Corrupt FXZ File - Motorola Atrix 2

My friend has an Atrix 2 that suddenly bricked on him due to a corrupt fzx file.
Any way to unbrick?
(I apologize for having no knowledge about an Atrix 2. I work with HTC phones. Just trying to help a friend out.)

Is it a full on hard brick, or a soft brick?
A soft brick, means you get the dual core and motorola logo screens.
A hard brick means it does not even power on.
If it is the latter there is nothing that can be done. If it is a soft brick you can re-download the fxz, and re-flash and bring it back to life.

Yeah, it's a hard brick man.
It won't even turn on.
Nothing he can do about it huh?

Is this an unlucky guy, or every time using a corrupted fzx then hard brick happens? :\

Corrupt FXZ File means one of these inside the zip file damaged but we don't know which one should be, so maybe it could be bootloader file. OMG, we can get a hardbrick if flash damaged or wrong boot file !

Checking the md5 will eliminate most corrupt file issues.
Motorola lied and I'm still locked mb865

What were you doing when this happened.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Phone will not power on and will have blank screen. PC will detect the phone in QPST mode
Yea it hard bricked. From my knowledge there is no fix.
We're you messing with Odin when this happened. What was the last thing you were doing with it working?

It seems like there have been a disproportionate amount of people running into this problem...it makes me nervous.

Especially when, op's are so strangely adverse to telling us how it happened.
It's ok ro tell us if u were doing something stupid. We all do stupid stuff to these devices at some point or another, you now have the ability to tell us @ least 1 thing NOT to do.
That's why this works...

I'm guessing he clicked something in ODIN he shouldn't have.
I was trying to install SKY ice cream ROM and was following - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21507135#post21507135
When i run odin it just run into errors and reboot was blank screen... i don't know what happen... i have done this before many times but this was my bad luck i guess
Was your battery low when you did this?
Have you tried pulling the battery for a few minutes?
I tried all option no luck... Ordered USB jig to see if that helps... other option is to get bin file and flash using QPST... I think someone who knows and are expert need to extract the bin file from the phone using QPST.
Jig won't work. I'm guessing you mucked something up in Odin.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
any idea if i can charge my battery using the phone now... doesn't give me any indication of charging
You can get a charger on eBay for $4 shipped.
Cheap Chinese crap but it works for me and my cheap Chinese spare batteries.

If anyone knows how to get the device recognized as a COM port, I can take a shot at it. Got real familiar with QPST when I flashed an Epic over to Virgin Mobile.

Doesn't download mode do that? Excuse me if I'm wrong.
Edit: LOL not if your bricked it doesnt. Could we use a working skyrocket to get the correct files to fix a bricked one using QPST?

Download mode does, yes, but you can't read or write from QPST in it. You get a "Phone did not answer/respond/whatever" error back.
What I would say needs to be figured out first is how to get a non-brick and a bricked one recognized as a COM port. Really annoying, but QPST doesn't work otherwise...
Sorry for the question, but what exactly is QPST? I've never heard of that before.

Qualcomm Product Support Tools. It's a program used by Qualcomm to program Qualcomm chips in phones. Can flash/backup software, program the phone's service, check/change EEPROM settings, EFS settings, etc. It's free software, but I do NOT recommend looking through it and tweaking things if you don't know what you're doing... Quite a bit in there that's really easy to mess up.

[Q] Need to return phone for service

Hey guys I've been searching google.com and xda forums for the last 3 hours trying to find a way to unroot my phone so I can bring it in for service. My phone's speaker broke and I get no sound so I have to bring it into the store. What would you guys suggest to do? I don't want to use Odin cause it's not recognizing my phone and I don't want to trip the counter using the .tar Any help please!
Got to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
Follow all instructions exctly and your phone will be 100 percent stock no root
Well first thank you for your reply. Ive been trying this method but I can't get Odin to detect my phone in download mode. It detects it when the phone is booted. I've reinstalled drivers and rebooted computer nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Did you flash cwm? If not and all you want to do is unroot that's simple..install a root file explorer and delete superuser.apk. now they can't tell you rooted the phone.

Why don't you brick it instead?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
if its just a speaker, they most likely will just replace the speaker.
Make sure you backup anything you dont want to loose, they may wipe the phone ,
I got a laptop back one time, that just needed a new keyboard, they wiped the damn thing, retards. ( this was way back before i was smart enough to do all that myself lol )

I was in China, which is a problem through hardware repair method to repair the phone?
Sorry you're late to the train man, but we currently have NO WAY of repairing this. And we have NO WAY of going back to GB ATM either.
You're phone is bricked bud. Time for a replacement.
There's already been a thread posted regarding the leak and bricking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782337Hard brick? Actually, the first handful or so of threads have discussions within regarding the leak and bricking resulting from trying to FXZ back to stock.
Please search before posting new threads on something that's being discussed already.

Droid Charge Stuck In Some Kind Of Test Mode

So I'm trying to fix a phone for someone but I can not find a way. Basically the phone says the IMEI is all 0's and even if you put a sim in it has a O with a line through it instead of service bars but still shows the 4G icon. Also it has all this stuff written on the screen that I've attached pictures of. Going into the settings says all 0's for the IMEI. I've tried factory resets and using ODIN to flash stock but no luck, I've thought of just restoring the IMEI but not to sure that would solve it
Yeah it looks like you need to restore the IMEI. Worth a shot
EFS is wiped and needs to be reprogrammed. Did this happen randomly? You can take it to Verizon and they can fix it as long as the device isn't blacklisted.

Yea pretty much they brought the phone to me one day like this. The person who owns it isn't tech savvy at all, doesn't even know anything about rooting

Doesn't Tweaked reset that? Could have swore I saw something like that when Odining Tweaked 3.
(~: Tweaked out on Peace :~)
Can you get the phone to download mode? If yes you can get the phone restored to original settings. Based on this picture your kernel might be messed up. It is just a guess.

How to brick my phone.

First off. My phone is rooted using PwnMyMoto. I have the twrp recovery. I plan to except the newest OTA in an attempt to brick/or make it look as if it is bricked. (Don't ask me why). If I accept the new OTA update right now as I currently have it, would I still be able to boot the phone into twrp? I realize I will bootloop if I try to boot into android. I just want to make sure I won't be able to boot into twrp. If so, could I flash back to the normal stock and still have it boot loop? And if neither of those work. How could I go about bricking my phone the easiest?
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
maybe try flashing random files in twrp. flash a GS3 radio or something and see what happens.

At the risk of adding to a weird idea, try flashing the boot.IMG from the moto x KitKat fxz. It will (soft)brick and can be recovered by flashing the proper boot.img

I can only assume that the op is looking to get a warranty replacement or an insurance claim for his phone which he probably doesn't want anymore. It seems unethical at best and fraudulent at worst.

Warranty claim? No way. The warranty would be void. Insurance claim? Why not just use an unethical hammer? Lol

I've bricked a couple of S2's accidentally when I was on Sprint. I told them they were rooted and they replaced them under warranty with no problem. If it's not suspect, then he should say why he wants to brick his phone. Seems fishy, that's all.

After it's been rooted, the internal counter is incremented, and any service or warranty center worth a damn will check it when you try to pawn off your "bricked" phone on them.
Thanks for contributing to the locking of bootloaders and increase in warranty and rate charges. We all appreciate it greatly.
As for "bricking it", the best you can do is a soft brick. The bootloader won't allow flashing anything not signed by Motorola, so you really can't mess it up too bad.
