Hi all, I am planning to buy Motorola Atrix 2. I am from India. I have few questions in my mind regarding Atrix 2.
Here are my questions..
1. Are there any risks of bricking Atrix 2 while rooting (If rooting method is followed properly) ?
2. Which version 2.3 is available in India on Atrix 2?
3. I have downloaded One click root 2.3.6 from this forum. Is this applicable to All 2.3.6 variants of Atrix 2? I means, I saw Rooting Atrix 2 videos, all phones were US AT&T. Same One click root is applicable for Indian variant of Atrix 2?
Rooting is nothing risky, it can never brick your device, it either succeeds or not.
Dont be afraid.

Hello, i am from india too.. my experiance with atrix 2 is very good. you will have 2.3.6 but i think there is a bug with Wifi. some times wifi turns itself off. other than this i did not find any bugs with 2.3.6 on atrix2. 2.3.5 used to be great. any how we are going to have ICS 4.0 next month. it is in testing stage. Coming to rooting. you can root your phone if you follow the steps carefully. you will not brick your phone if you follow those steps.

Hi,
I have an Atrix2( bought it as soon as it appeared in India!!!) .To answer all your doubts
1) Rooting WILLNOT brick your phone. Follow the rooting procedure , you will be fine.
2) I think 2.3.6 SEARET version is being sold in India. Mine was that out of the box. There was an update, I applied that.
3) I didnt face the wifi issue with the 2.3.6 update. The phone was a bit laggy though.
Right now am on MEARET based ICS , planning to downgrade to 2.3.6 SEARET .
Hi all, I took Atrix2. It comes with Android 2.3.6 out of the box. I successfully rooted my Atrix2 and is working fine.. No lag, no bugs. Blazing fast processing and fluidic graphics.. Now I have a question.. I have installed Go Launcher and replaced Motoblur.. I want to know how to put Fav. contact widget on Go launcher screen.. I went through widget list.. It is not available..

Few of the moto widgets are not compatible with custom launchers, you can try go contacts or there are few favourite contact widgets available on play store but none as good as the stock moto quick contacts widget.
Speak only when it improves on your silence.
Congratulations
MOTOBLUR widgets only work in Blur home. You need to enable it.

If I remove Fav. contacts Widget from MotoBlur, how can I get it back..?

I really love Atrix 2, and I have two options:
one for a chinese one, which is cheaper and unlocked, but i'll have to give up all the android apps and facebook, twitter, etc.
one for a att one, which is relatively expensive and locked, but loaded with all the apps i needed.
So, my question is that is it possible to flash a chinese Atrix 2 with a stock att rom or other English roms that has the apps loaded without being carrier-locked?
Thanks!
why not getting att one, first it is cheaper XD(att version release 2 months early than chinese one). Also it seems like it has more support on att version in here, since most rom here are base on att version here.
But the chinese version also has a white one, which i prefer. Plus, i can only buy the att version using ebay, while i can tell my dad to buy the chinese one and bring it for me

No you can not do this. The ROMs (fxz files) are hardware Dependant, and that includes the Radio. You can not flash an MB865 fxz (ROM) to an ME865 phone, and vise a versa.

That is not something we discuss in here, but I am sure a google search will get you what you need pretty quick. I have heard it is possible though.

Hello All,
I AM REALLY SORRY IF THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED MANY A TIMES.
I am from India and running the OTA android 4.0.4 on my Motorola Atrix 2. The version is a headache and spoils the fun of using Atrix 2. I was very much happy with speed that 2.3.6 gave me. But one unlucky day I got the 4.0.4 update and never has it been the same then. I am frustrated to the point of selling off my device.
So i would like to ask anyone who can help me out. Is there anyway I can go to the Stock Motorola Atrix 2 android version 2.3.6 or is there any other 4.0.4 cooked ROM that works better than the OTA 4.0.4? and if there is, can it be installed on my device? I have not yet rooted my device.
P.S. if there is anyway to go back to Stock 2.3.6, nothing could be better than that.
Any help regarding this will be really appreciated.

Assuming your atrix2 is the Indian version there have been reports of people having fxz back to GB without bricking.but again i don't have the Indian atrix2 (just the at&t version) so i haven't done this personally.
What problems are you having on ICS maybe they can be sorted out by some tweaks/a custom ROM

The problems I am facing is a lot of lag when flicking through screens, slow downs, non-responsive apps, basically ICS is creating too much stress on the hardware of the phone. I like my phone to run smooth and lag free, so pls suggest me if there are any ROM's that can solve my issues, and if i can upgrade to those ROM's on my OTA ICS 4.0.4... Thanks DeveshMainsh

I have the same problem with my AT&T Motorola Atrix2. I upgraded it OTA 4 days ago and it is VERY FRUSTRATING!! Its super laggy with lot of lag between flicks, apps open slower and the worst part - once my dialer simply would not place a call on pressing the call button!! What use is a phone that refuses to call??
@Opener did u try factory resetting your phone? Did it help?
@Others, please suggest what I should do. I am a newbie too to android modding so I am not familiar with the currently trending mods/tweaks/cooked roms. Any way to downgrade to 2.3.6? If not, is there any custom firmware that gives better performance?

First thing to do after update is factory reset..if still your phone is slow apply the awesome v6 supercharger script..my phone is super fast..

There is definitely something wrong with the OTA ICS update. I did many factory resets after the update and performance was unbearable. It seemed to work fine for a little while after the reset, but as soon as I signed into my google account it started giving me fits. I even reset, then created a new google account and it was the same thing. So I reset again and never signed into my account, seemed to work okay for a couple of days, but eventually it was the same performance issues.
I took my phone into the AT&T service center and they knew of the "issue". AT&T ended up replacing the phone under warranty and now I'm back to Gingerbread, kind of wishing I had a stable version of ICS because I really like it.

Could always get on ICS leak #1. If you not satisfied, can always go back to GB. From ICS leak #1 ONLY. Leak #2 and OTA CANNOT get back to GB. You'll only end up with a brick.

Can you help me pls to downgrade my phone from 4.04 to gb?
My phone is no longer functioning the way it was ever since it was accidentally upgraded to ICS.
It's an AT&T motorola arix2 mb865.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
hello
well to make it short i bought the atrix 2 from the US early when it came out and then i came to Dubai and all the annoying bloatware for AT&T have became more annoying by (NOT WORKING) when i was leaving i called them and they gave me the unlock code so im using the phone in Dubai, UAE and its working great, im on Victory Rom (Best rom ever) clean and elegant.
---------
now i found there is official ICS firmware for UAE Retails and it has the same number as my phone MB865 so my question is: can i flash that firmware to my AT&T phone ? and incase that is not possible, if i want a clean ICS ROM (made from the official OTA update not the leak) where i can find it ? and lastly if all is not possible what is the cleanest quickest and best ROM and will it work if i update to OTA ICS ?
sorry for taking too long and Thanks in advance
----------
that was what i wrote earlier but now i tried to do OTA and the phone stuck on the dual core technology screen so im thinking to Fxz but i dont know if i should do it for GB 2.3.6 or ICS ?
thanks a lot

To be very honest with you and AFAIK no one had tried to fxz to ICS from GB.but in theory it should work.
But this is what I'll suggest fxz to 2.3.6 and try OTAing.it should take you to ICS directly.

Ok so get this very clear if you phone it's AT&T one(it has AT&T written on the bottom) then you can't flash any other firmware.your only option is the AT&T firmware( from here).
And there are lots of ROMs that you can try.
StockyEd is pure OTA version of ICS.
Others are Numa, swifty trix ,scv7.Also we have CM10.

As the title states I was wondering, after skimming through the HD forums that it seems like rooting and unlocking boot loader is just too much of a risk, I loved flashing roms and such on my optimus one but I'm iffy as to even attempt a root let alone a flash on a $500 device....

Rooting is but I haven't flashed a ROM.
Rooting and flashing ROMs is easy even on consumer xt926 with safestrap and the other utilities out there. The only problem atm the new 4.1.2 update and downgrading. I'm sure a fix is/will be out soon tho. This phone is very dependable just make sure to have backups and do research before trying.

I'll post exactly what I posted when someone asked about unlocking boot loaders...
QUOTE=slickfing;39533253]IF ONLY U KNEW WHAT AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER COULD DO FOR U..YOU'D UNLOCK AND NOT ASK.
I HAVE AND IT'S THE BEST THING I EVER DID TO MY PHONE. I was wondering why I could flash easily on my s3 and note 2..till I read that those already shipped with UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS..If samsung ships its phones with unlocked bootloaders (aside verizon), how could that be bad?
Know what I have done with my phone sizes?
1. I have flashed a recovery
2. backed up my rom
3. debloated my rom
4. removed my soft keys (u should see my screen)
5. phone runs excellently..no lag
6. installed LMT launcher
7. replaced my boot animation
List will continue and I've only had the phone for 4 days.
That's how awesome an unlocked bootloader has made my phone.
I dont use my s3 or note 2 anymore...actually sold them both.
Now i need to figure out how to overclock the phone.

Any kind soul have a step by step instructions for me to get root back??
Need to be a little more specific on your device brand. Like if your on the xt926 consumer edition like me then your stuck on 4.1.2 because u can't downgrade ur firmware to go back to ICS and get root.
However dev editions or other variants may be able to obtain root again.

Frock that's what I thought but was holding out a little hope. Yes XT926. This blows ... so that WAS the mistake? Not doing the OTA update and instead the connecting to PC and doing it from the Moto utility?? I assumed it's the same thing so wasn't careful about that.
Thanks.

BTW .. why is rooting Motorola such a pain ... I love this phone for it's battery life but I may go back to Samsung phones ... at least there it's crazy easy to root, change roms, etc.
Rooting Motorola is such a pain because of the locked boot loader IMO. I have root because instead of flashing the new update I used voodo and took it strictly ota with my 4.1.1 rooted device.

So, please, make me understand...
Ok, so, let me see if i understood:
there is no way to root JB...
BUT... developers r trying to, is it right?
so.... or we try a crazy thing getting back to ICS with a really complicated rule to follow or we wait for a good friend here who can give us a root for JB?
Is it right? Cause if i am wrong, if there is a way to root JB, please, let me know.
My phone uses 700 MB of RAM with softwares i use not, i want to put it all off from my phone, but they r from the ROM VIVO Brazil...
Help, please?
