Upgrading ROM and Installing Themes - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am currently running Beans Custom Stock B7, with LeanKernal by Imoseyon.
Today I saw that there is a Build 8 for Beans Custom stock and I was wondering if I would just wipe cache/dalvik and then install from zip for the new build?
I used the guide put together by DroidStyle and I am under the impression that I would simply do the same thing as when I installed it but I could simply do a Cache/dalvik wipe instead of data (so the only real difference would be step 6).
Is that it or am I missing something?
---------------
From the guide:
Step 3: Download and open the EZ recovery App from section 4:
Step 4: Select CWM touch, flash, reboot recovery
Step 5: Perform a Nadroid Backup in the back up/restore menu!
Step 6: Wipe Data/Factory reset(Cache wipe is all thats normally required, but data wipe is recomended)
Step 7: Select install .zip from sd and install the rom you downloaded in step 2
Step 8: Reboot
---------------
Also are all themes the same in the sense of just installing from Zip?
Thanks guys!

yep... that's it. Just to be clear, you don't have to flash CWM if you already have.

Clockworkmod Nightly Install Script

I'm running CM7 on my G2X alongside Trinity kernel. I've got ROM Manager Premium on my phone to check nightlies. Whenever I get an update notification I do the following:
1) download the nightly
2) reboot into recovery
3) format /system
4) format Dalvik
5) format cache
6) install nightly
7) install google apps
8) install Trinity
I would like to find a way to automate steps 3-8 in ClockworkMod. I'm currently running 4.0.0.2. Does anybody know of a way to accomplish this?

You format system for every nightly? Good Lord, man....just wipe dalvik and cache...in fact, if you just use Rom Manager, and hit the options to only wipe dalvik and install gapps, it will do the rest for you.
I'm not just installing the nightly...hence the reason for this post. I'm also installing a custom kernel as well. This needs to be done alongside the nightly.
And...for the record...formatting /system is only one additional step in 8 steps and it's not even the longest one.

No need to format even if reinstalling the kernel. You should
1)wipe dalvik/cache
2)flash nightly
3)flash kernel

There is build 12 today....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36487791&postcount=3281
Important things:
- it should be sim free (not locked to network, I think...)
- your Explorer should have unlocked bootloader (this you do only once in lifetime)
- your Explorer (pco) should be rooted first, if it is not. (this you need to do once, custom roms come rooted usually)
- you need to install custom recovery if you didn't already (CWM or TWRP) (this you need to do once, but you can change it..)
When you have all this, then proceed per instruction above.
Press "thanks" button if I helped

I would advice you to use build #11 rather than #12. Everything works on 11. 12 not tested yet.
To revert back you will have to do a nandroid backup first from recovery, if anything goes wrong while installing the rom simply go back to recovery and restore data!
Clear instructions given in posts on this site for all the steps needed.

9.1 is for ics roms, 10 & 10.1 are the jb ones but since not everything works fine on them yet, 9.1 is what you should go with, for now.

[GUIDE][CM10/10.1/11] Update without getting the Status-7 errors

GUIDE: HOW TO INSTALL/UPDATE ROM WITHOUT STATUS 7 ERRORS
p.s this guide is totally noob friendly and to the best of what I could explain. But then again, I don't mind replying to kindergarten-noob level queries either.
Okay, this is for those who face these Status 7 Errors, don't panic, I found a partial-but-working fix. Your phone is not corrupted. Just follow these steps to get out:
Method 1:
1) You can simply quit Recovery Mode and go back to using your ROM as it is (that is only if you haven't Wiped Data).
2) Once you're phone's booted, download ROM Manager from the Play Store
3) Using USB Mass Storage, copy the ROM (zip) file to your internal drive.
4) Then (obviously) unplug/turn-off the USB Mass Storage mode and go to the ROM Manager app.
5) Click on Install ROM from SD Card (which means internal over here, idk why) and select the ROM. Ignore step 6 if you don't want to backup.
6) This is optional, but if you wish to come back to this ROM later click on Backup
7) Click on wipe-data if you're upgrading to another ROM (from CM10.1>CM10.2 or CM10.2>CM11) or ignore this step if you're flashing a new build (nightly/alpha)
8) The ROM will be flashed and you're good to go. If you're upgrading to a new nightly/alpha build, ignore step 8.
ONLY IF YOU'RE UPDATING TO ANOTHER ROM:
Just before the bootanimation, be ready to take out your battery and go to recovery mod with the combo keys (Volume Up+Power) and flash Gapps. (Preferably from this)
Method 2:
1) You can simply quit Recovery Mode and go back to using your ROM as it is (that is only if you haven't Wiped Data).
2) Once you're phone's booted, download ROM Manager from the Play Store
3) Using USB Mass Storage, copy the ROM (zip) file to your internal drive.
4) Reboot to Recovery
5) Flash the zip and reboot to recovery, again, and flash Gapps. (Preferably from this)
Oh and make sure to go to this thread and thank them for the gapps

Normally this problem is rather easy to solve
1: If you have the error at the beginning of flash you need to do a factory reset wip
2: If the error appears when the symlink you need to format the system
the gapps and other files. sh are the cause of this problem
Remember that the i9003 can only use 230 mb clean flash
if you do not do a full wip factory and format system welcome to STATUS 7 ERRORS MouHaHa ?ยง!
if you change rom author does not expect to keep your data!
Really good tutorials by both of u...:good:

Best steps to install a new ROM to Photon Q?

Instructions for installing a new custom ROM to a device depends on the Developer of the ROM, or the author of the guide. I've made my own instructions based upon reading numerous ROM installation guides, and ROM install instructions.
Do you think any steps need to be added, subtracted, or reordered?
CLEAN INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS v. 1.0
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Select "Wipe", then select "Factory Reset"
3. Install new ROM
4. Install Gapps, kernel, or any other fixes second
5. Select "Wipe" button, then select "Advanced Wipe"
6. Select Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Cache, Internal Storage. Select Wipe
7. Reboot
