Sadly wrong section but you already knew that..
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, but the problem has persisted by itself.. I don't know what fixed this, but im guessing this is a hardware fault that fixed itself, i mailed HTC about this and they asked me to send it in for repairs, and im guessing it has to do with the G-Sensor...
Recalibrating didnt fix it for me..
Yeah calibrated the G-sensor many times no luck, so you didn't something special which ROM do you use so I will install it too, please if you think that you did something else pm me I really can't stand this and thank you for your reply , and I am sorry for posting it here but I needed help ...

Nope, i tried recalibrating 10-15 times, nothing worked, i tried reflashing different roms, fixing permissions, cleaning cache, full wipes with different scripts, flashed new radios and recoverys..
Then one day everything just fixed itself, my brother was playing and calling with my phone, and when i got it back, it never behaved like that again...
I think its something hardware related, and if you're lucky it will fix itself, otherwise i would try reflash the phone with original 1.32base rom and check if the problem is still there..
If it is, send it in for repairs..

Try disableing flip for speaker in call settings on an htc rom and then flash your rom and see if that problem stays...if so conect phone to adb and log when you get a call or if you have log.txt in sd send it to me and i will identify problem for you
Oki guys i've learned from my experience if wiping, flashing a new rom Etc. Doesn't work then the last option is too install an ruu.
The issue you I had is my touchscreen became total unresponsive, no what matter what I done the issue was still thier. But a friend suggested I should install an ruu (1.32) which solved the issue.
edit:http://iloveabath.co.uk/index.php?dir=RUUs
Good luck and report back.

I think Car Home is causing my problem , so when you enable Car Home the speaker phone is activating by itself , tried to uninstall but no changes , because every time I install a new Rom the first thing that starts is Car Home then the Setup Wizard , only on CM7 doesn't start at the beginning but after first reboot Car Home starts the first and the issue of speaker starts again ok I will try 1.32 and report thank you all for helping me thanks a lot

remove carhome.apk from rom.zip before flashing
The problem is caused by some pin in your usb charger. Maybe a carcharger.
Trying cleaning the mini usb on your phone where you put in your charger.
Or plug in your charger to your phone and try to move it a little bit and remove it. Do this a few times. This will also remove some dust.
This worked for me. It has nothing to do with a program but your carpanel will load indeed. Your device thinks it is in car mode or something.
I hope it will help for you.

I have a HTC sensation (non branded european version) for about 5 months now, and lately its been crashing constantly, it just goes black and is completely turned off.
Most of the time this happens when its in my pocket.
I'm running the original rom, its not rooted, and i did a factory reset last week.
The problem was gone for a couple of days, but its back again.
I assume its an app that's causing it to crash, but i can't figure out what app.
I'm not sure because it seems that everytime it crashes and i restart it, a program that uses the internet has an update. For example whatsapp, twitter, wordfeud etc.
I tried disabeling wifi, that didn't help. I disabled the mobile network now to see if its internet related, but its not an option to keep that disabled ofcourse.
I removed a couple of apps, but that didn't solve the problem.
Hope someone can help.
If a phone reboots...its typically software related
If it shuts all the way off...its usually battery related.
Call HTC about them sending a replacement battery. Tell them Tmobile told you to call them and you need it for troubleshooting testing.

I can't help, however can report that I have similar issues.
Though I get crashes as well during normal operation such as:
- getting a phone call
- opening up Google Maps (or any GPS app)
- receiving SMS messages
- starting the camera
And all with stock software.
I have a same problem. I cant figure it out. When i turn on my phone battery is around %6 . but normally its around %70. When i restart again it turns normal %70. is it same on your device ?
thnx for the replies! I indeed have weird and incorrect readouts from the battery after restarting, and it doesn´t crash when on the charger.
I realy hope its the battery, i´l call HTC right away to see if they can send me a replacement battery.

Hey... I am facing exactly the same issue. Replacing the battery fixed it or not?
Same here. I also noticed that if I changed my wallpaper, it reverts back to the default phase beam wallpaper on the next boot.
Updating to this firmware
DOWNLOAD 3.32.531.14 710RD (TMO ONLY [THX GROGG88]): http://goo.gl/JCWEO
MD5: 79EDF95337826DF73083E227DB8DE7C3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 seemed to fix it for me.
It probably shouldn't have, because the firmware is supposed to be the same as previous except for the radio.
Maybe it'll work for you guys.
Had the same problem, it shutsdown when receiving phone calls.... Like the previous post said it must be battery problem.. i did this fix and my phone has not shut down randomly.. this fix will tighten the battery contact with the terminals...try it first, Its a simple fix

Had this same problem on stock sensation . Once I rooted and installed custom rom the problem went Away! Never to return.
I truly believe and its been proven that custom Roms are MORE stable than stock. After installation of the custom rom , the issue of restarting NEVER RETURNED! Not a problem anymore . It's a software issue. It can be fixed with different software . It's a known issue.

I rooted since warrenty is over, I had the problem on stock rom, hungarian t mobile one, and now the problem starts to come back on a custom rom also, but not form the first day, it must be something related to software... i have two batteries and it did not fix the issue, i dont think the battery is the problem, one is original the other (i mostly use) is an anker battery... quite cool since longer standby...
how can i debug and read logs or dumps about the error?
scenarios when my phone shuts off:
- receiving a call after ringing once or twice (not always)
- during talking on the phone
- when i call someone after ringing once or twice (not always)
- starting camera and using it to make a picture in the moment of flash
- sometimes just when its in my pocket, later i pick it out and wonder its again turned off: D´OH!
most stable workaround which lasts usually half a day (remove battery)
have you any ideas how I can read dumps or logs?
thanks
My Motorola Triumph keeps randomly rebooting and the battery goes from 90% to 7% suddenly sometimes. I had the phone for a week so far and the frequence of restarts is increasing. I don't have any task killer app.
Is it some software that I am using or it's a hardware issue? Do you think I should have the phone replaced by Virgin Mobile?

Try charging it all the way and using cwm to wipe the battery stats. That should fix the battery drain. The reboots I would try wiping Dalvik, cache, and last first data if the first 2 wipes don't help at all.

I just figured out the problem has to do with wifi. When I turn it off and use 3G instead the mobile becomes stable (so far). Is anyone facing the same problem or it's just me? Is there a fix?
Does it have a custom ROM on it? I've seen around the forums that there has been issues with the MT and wifi on the ROMs

No. But the frequency of the reboots increased after I re-installed the original MT stock ROM.
When I first bough the device it restarted once or twice a day. Now it reboots non stop unless I take out the battery. I re-installed the stock ROM from another source but the problem persisted. The problem goes away when I turn off wifi abut comes back when I turn it on.
Sounds like something to do with the kernel, not the ROM... maybe. I had horrible luck with any and all custom kernels for a long while. Although that's just my luck, might not be yours...
Looks like you had a problem from the beginning... Try everything stock, and if it's still there, return it... Wow my first post in years...

Wohooooooooooooo The problem DOES go away with CM7 beta 8 !!!! It's like magic!
Phone no longer reboots randomly
Wifi is stable and does not disconnect or cause the phone to reboot or the battery to heat up
And battery life improved 300%!!! I now charge it every other day with moderate 3g/wifi usage!
I had CM7 for three weeks so far and my frustration turned into happiness! It's just amazing how changing the software makes a HUGE difference!! Before CM7 I always felt like smashing my MT because of the hard time it gave me!
I followed the instructions on: http://www.motorolatriumphhacks.com/

as far as ive seen with both cm7 and cm9, random reboots houldnt be an issue anymore, but for other still having the issue it usually comes from about 4 things over the rest
1. faulty hardware, which normally isnt the case, if faulty hardware was the issue you'd probly be seeing more then random reboots, but its still possible
2. Rom didn't take correctly during flash, either by chance, or because the phone wasent properly cleared and now settings are "head butting"
3. Running a custom rom in which you can adjust the cpu and the settings are either to low or to high, both can cause reboots
4. Most common one ive seen by far outta them all, Apps, certain apps especially after some updates will "play tricks" on the device and for some reason cause reboots sometimes, usually the next update of said app will resolve the issue but not always, so if you find an app thats the culprit you can notify that apps developer
you can always try and go back to 100% stock and see if the issue is still there but if your like me you probly hate the stock froyo by now lol
It may seem painful or whatnot but unless you find exactly what may be causing the reboots the best bet overall would be
Do a complete Fresh install of whatever rom you use, dont flash anything besides the rom and gapps if needed, also dont restore any backups yet, just to be sure
Once the fresh new rom is booted i turn the phone off then back on for safe measures lol
Now if you can lol try running the phone with No aftermarket apps besides any/if any that came on the rom, if the problem is gone you know for sure here that it was one of your apps
then 1 by 1 install your apps and give it some time in between app installs to see if the problem comes back and hopefully this way if it does youll know which app is causing troubles
FAQ
To quote directly from my FAQ,
"Reboots on Android are a pain, and can be attributed to multiple sources. I’ve been able to successfully reduce the amount of reboots that I get, but never eliminate them… Anyhow, here’s some troubleshooting information:
1. Format SD card in Windows (back up your SD card data first!) Make sure you format to FAT32. Don’t try formatting it in Linux. I have done this before and the phone wouldn’t boot up!
2. Slightly overclocking prevents some freezes.
Under Settings > Cyanogenmod Settings > Performance overclock the max speed to around 1300-1400ish. This should speed the phone up, but not to the point of the thing overheating
3. Fix SD Card permissions. Do this by booting into Recovery (You can do that if you have this ROM installed) and go to advanced > Fix SD card permissions. Now reboot.
4. Do not use Firefox, except the Nightly builds. Firefox has went through drastic speed and performance improvements recently, but the older builds, despite being called stable, are so slow, they will make the phone freeze and reboot. Yes, this includes Aurora. UPDATE: All Firefox versions except stable (ironic, eh?) have been used by me personally and have not made my phone reboot. Make sure you’re on at least version 14. (This one doesn't apply as much anymore, I need to update my FAQ!)
5. Give the phone a break from time to time. After intensive gaming for hours on end, the phone will often reboot while exiting a game.
That’s all the tips I have. I managed to drastically reduce my reboots by doing these, but not eliminate them completely. I hope g60madman or mantera find some hidden timeout value in the kernel (if one exists, like the auto reboot on BSOD in Windows) and either lengthens the timeout value or disables automatic rebooting so if this is a kernel panic, we may see the debugging details and upload them to fix some crashes.
6. Make sure that you have the VM heap size set to be adequate enough. I recommend at least 24 MB, preferably anywhere from 32 MB and up if you want the phone to last a while without rebooting.
7. Sometimes a cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe are needed to stop bootloops. Unfortunately, every once in a while, you may start getting bootloops. This usually due to some sort of corruption in the cache or dalvik cache. You can safely clear them through Clockworkmod Recovery without loosing any data, and this usually fixes the problem. If not, do a factory reset through Clockworkmod Recovery and reinstall this ROM."
Hello devs...
Month ago i decided to root my Sensation and installed Elegancia ROM with Sebastian Kernel..
Before that i had Battery issues..that made the phone go out of power for like 2 hours in screen mode..
1. Now.. when i start using the phone.. at home there is no problem.. but when i go outside... whenever i start using the phone after a minute.. when the battery level shows like 57% the phone crashes and when i turn it on again it shows 2% battery and shuts down again.. little later when i try to turn on again.. it shows like 12-15-20%.. (Today it fell down from 90% to 2 then after restart it went to 50)...
Does any1 have any idea how am i supposed to fix those crashes.. or what's the reason to have them.. because i can't rely on my phone when i go outside.. 1 minute of brousing causes crash and battery lvl down with more than 50%..
And the most curious thing is that when i come back at home and connect the Phone to the charger and turn it on.. it shows 50% battery
2. And the second issue is that with Faux Kernel and Pacha after the phone crash and i arrive home.. when i turn it on every single application says "Unfortunately XXXXX has stopped working".. And i'm forced to reinstall the ROM because deleting all the data and reinstalling the applications is not working.
I will be really grateful if someone can be that good to help me.. PLEASE :crying:
Have you tired a new battery? Seems like your having issues with your battery ? Also after putting in a new battery if your still having issues you might consider another rom? I'd do some experiment and see if a new rom helps. Also I'd try a new battery. Best wishes

hi,
1)if you tried different kernels and you had the same issues
then maybe your battery is dying or it is not housing properly
check it.you can also try a different rom
2)try to do wipe dalvik + cache from recovery or
do a full wipe and reflash the rom
best wishes

Thank you for the advice.. i already ordered Anker.. but still wondering how to fix the problem with the stopping of all applications.. they just don't work.. and i have to reflash the rom to fix it..
The problem with those crashes is with all 3 Kernels i've tried.. Sebastian, Faux and Pacha.. now trying Bricked.. But.. only Sebastian doesnt give me the error with the applications.
A very good day to everyone.
I have been using my HTC Sensation for a year and a half already and recently it's starting to crank up.
It started last week when I was using my phone when suddenly it just switched off by itself and no matter how I attempted to switch it back on again it would boot up to the lock screen page and baam, it shuts off again. It doesn't restarts by itself or anything, it just simply switches off and no, I am unable to switch it on again. The only time I am able to do so again is when I plug it into a power source, that is when it would finally be able to start up.
At first I thought that it wasn't something big until recently it started occuring more frequently and I noticed that it only occurs whenever I have my 3G switched on. If I'm plugged in, my phone would still be working without switching off even though I have my 3G switched on. But when I unplug it from its power source, I'll be able to use it with 3G on for a good 20-30mins or even lesser at times and there it goes shutting off by itself again. What actually got me dumbfounded is how I can be having 80% of battery power when this happens.
I have tried the using a card/paper as a wedge for the battery so that it connects better but to no avail even though I have noticed that indeed, my battery seems to have some extra allowance for it to fidget about within the confinements of the spot which is allocated for the battery. I have tried the switching the phone's data usage to GSM only as well as switching it to WCDMA only but both still didn't work. I have also done a factory wipe which didn't work, super wiped it before flashing ARHD once again which didn't work as well.
To make things worse, my phone is not covered under warranty anymore and my only last hope is that the problem lies with my phone's battery rather than the PCB board which is why I'm putting all my hope on the Anker battery which stocks would only come in next Monday which I don't wanna spend on only to find out that it's not gonna be able to save my phone from its miserable plight...
This is my phone's setup:
Android Version 4.0.3
Sense Version 3.6
Software Number - Android Revolution HD 6.8.0 XE by mik1986
Kernel Version - 3.0.16-g31a4fc7 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband Version - 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
I'm really desperate to find a solution to this so if there's anyone of you who has faced this issue/solved this issue please enlighten me as to what I can do, any/all help would be greatly appreciated.
Try other Roms..yrs might be unstable...

seems like a radio problem ..reflash the firmware you are having or ..flash 3.33/3.32 universal firmware from kohr-ah firmware thread in sensation development section
once done ..get getril app ..open it and flash proper ril for the firmware if you not having matching ril
I've been using the 3.33 firmware for quite a while already but it's still not working. :/

I'd add to that to reflash it using a fresh download of the firmware file. It's possible (though slightly unlikely) that you have a tiny corruption of your existing firmware file so reflashing it might just put the same error back. I say that's unlikely because errors in the radio file of firmware would likely be causing you bigger problems than you are saying. But a new download and fresh flash won't hurt.
Or try switching to the 3.32 firmware (They aren't much different) just to see if it makes a difference. If not you can at least rule that out.
Just a head's up though, after you flash a new firmware file, reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik or you will likely just get a bootloop at the boot animation when trying to start it the first time.
I had the same problem - the battery was broken, had to buy a new one, search for "Anker" on amazon

Definitely! Thank goodness it was just the battery otherwise there goes a great phone. Not to mention that with the anker battery it has a greater and better lifespan!

My situation is identical to yours. 1,5 years old, constantly rebooting, after reboot the battery power drops to 4%. If it's connected to the power cord it works normally. Already ordered Anker battery and I'll see what happens.
If I look closely, I can see that my battery is a little bloated and not completely flat. Did anybody else noticed that?
So I guess all of this should be written on HTC Sensation FAQ page since it's not a bug, but a feature...
