Notification light for missed call/sms rom - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Cynagon 10 mod right now. Is there any other rom that is good or better that comes with this feature by default?

CM10 does have BLN. Go into settings>advanced and you'll see the option for BLN

It does have it yes and it does work. But the link for Gapps isn't working so right now I need a ROM that works with BLN. Is there any other that's worth trying?

you can flash any ROM you want because if it has no BLN you can flash a kernel with this feature...
like bedalus kernel...and enable it via NStools..
S.R.

Or flash codename android 3.2.1. Its up to you how you want it.

Thanks guys. I had a look the kernels from Kernel manager. Right now just back on to the jelly bean, downloaded a BLN application that requires the kernel to support it (which my ROM does) and works perfectly.

Does anyone knows if there's a app that works with ics for the led notification led?
BLN control is not working on ics
EDIT:
I use the kwiboo rom and kernel

How to get BLN to work on ICS?

Ever since i shifted to ICS roms i can't get BLN to work with any ROM or kernel combination. I have used Glados, Franco, SG, Matrix, Speedy with CodeAndroid, AOSP+, Brainmasters ICS v6, AOKP. But it has never worked. It used to work properly on gingerbread. I have flashed rom by doing complete wipes.
You must use NSTool (https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.cyann.nstools ) to activate BLN

I've used ICUP Kernel before and NStools and it worked good. Try re-flashing kernel or updating to newer version?

Seemed to, I had it dim the keys after 500 ms (I don't really care for them and don't need to see them to use them), and BLN for notifications. I used NStools to configure both of these options, but that was several NStools updates ago. At the time I was using Nexus Beam with ICUP speedy 3, but I've since moved on to CM9.
***Edit***
I did notice depending on the configuration that certain timing settings would not work properly, dunno why. Could have just been the way I had it set up.

NStools had BLD set to 500ms, BLN enabled
Didn't really change much else, no custom overclock settings or anything like that.
Matr1x also worked well for me on various ROMs I sampled

Since I moved to CM9 I am just using the CM kernel, it doesn't have all the configurable options that the others did, at least not yet.

Does Stock Jelly Bean work on Matr1x Kernel?

Hi,
I have installed Matr1x kernel. I am using Stock ICS Rom only. Will the New Jelly Bean Update.zip work.
Can i install using cwm.
Please advise me.

asdf2020
It should flash through CWM, but keep in mind it'll overwrite your recovery and replace your kernel.

Thanks for reply.
Does it will wipe my data/apps as well?
No. Everything will be the same. I flashed over ICS and everything was kept the same for me

has your kernel been replaced??? or is it the same ??
For ****s-and-giggles, I threw the matr1x kernel on top of my 4.1.1 ota last night ... It didn't work.

Yea. My app settings stayed the same, but like I said, my kernel got replaced, which is expected. I don't use matrix though and seeing as the kernel sources vary, chances of it working are pretty slim, as seen above.

Your kernel will get replaced. I wouldn't recommend it because I've tried other kernels with the official OTA JB ROM and the experience wasn't as smooth. I have yet to try Matr1x kernel yet though.
No different versión of Ndroid not supported at least yet ;D
Lets just say hes workin on it i would expect
So......official JB 4.1 won't work on my Matr1x kernel

BLN

Hi!
Is there a generalist way to get bln on any kernel? My question goes because not everyone and every developer likes to add it. For instance. I have 4.1.1 is there any zip I could always flash over any jb rom?
Thanks.

It depends on the rom. If it has BLN mod or not.
I think BLN must be inplemented in the kernel.
I don´t know any mod for flashing over a ROM that gives you BLN.

Either the rom has to have the BLN feature, or the kernel. If you're on STOCK 4.1.1 then you will need to flash either a kernel or a new rom with the feature. You will need to download the 'NS Tools' app and choose the settings to your liking.
Hope this helps!

[Q] [i9023] BLN with JB 4.1.2 factory ROM and *Matr1x* cfs v23.5 kernel

Hi,
I just flashed *Matr1x* v23.5BLN kernel for BLN support, but it does not work on my Nexus S i9023. I tried BLN control and NSTools for activation, but without any success.
Does anyone have experiences with BLN with the same configuration?
Thanks in advance

That's my same issue.
BLN can be set with some difficulties on JB.
In my case, I'm using Marmite kernel. BLN works, but I cannot keep the lights on.
... indeed: in testing mode within BLN control, lights go on but not when
a call or sms come in I think the best thing is to move from
factory to CyanogenMod or another custom ROM

Correct!
I'm using stock OTA 4.1.2 and matr1x 23.5 kernel, flashed using TWRP recovery, installed busybox, activated through NSTools.
BLN works excellent on SMS and missed calls. Blinking works fine too, OC 1.2ghz works fine also.

I did nearly the same: self-installed stock 4.1.2 via update from 4.1.1, CWM recovery, DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su - will try CyanogenMod M2 today
