Not sure if there is a definitive answer for this, but what happens to S-Voice when Jelly Bean hits with Google Now and everything? Will the two coexist or will we have the option to disable one or the other. I have seen several videos of them being compared to each other, just not sure what the outcome will be. Having both does seem a bit unnecessary. I am personally waiting for Jelly Bean to hit before I grab one of these babies (Developer edition) and know what I am getting myself into.

Im sure samsung will keep svoice there, but im almost 100% sure that you can already disable it in the svoice settings.

CM10 is pretty stable - my only issue with it - causing me to go back to Synergy ( now on R64 ) was no NFC support yet. I got hooked on Wallet and I can't stop! Keep checking CM10 Nightlies for NFC support and you will have THE BEST Android OS yet. I only had it for ~3 hours but I already miss it.
I want to say today was the supposed release for the international, of course its all rumor-ville

Yeah CM10 is stable, but it also has a lot of issues like notification sounds, no NFC, call volume stuck on highest, echo, SMS failing to send anything larger than 160 characters (at least on the stock messaging). If you don't care about those things, go for it.
CM10 is quite impressive so far, but there is still the sleep of death and a bunch of other issue. To say it's stable is rather disingenuous.

I haven't had any SOD issues, so I can't speak on those, but the other issues don't inhibit it's stability, but rather the functionality. It's pretty damn good for how shortly it's been public, though.

Disagree. I haven't had any SoD or hot reboots or anything of the sort in well over a week. The NFC may be a deal breaker for some but there is pretty much nothing else keeping it from being a daily driver since it appears the echo was fixed in the latest build

After trying out every Rom I could. I'm back to Synergy. I like what CM10 does, but TouchWiz is just so much better than stock UI. I'll keep waiting for Samsung to release the update.

I agree. Samsung really hit it out of the park. I'm really looking forward to JB TW.
Jelly Bean does sound nice. Will the devs be able to make a JB version for the Verizon SG3 from what Samsung releases? Or will we have to wait for Verizon to release their version first?

CM10 official nightlies are good enough to be a daily driver now. NFC works, WiFi and data work, SMS and MMS work, etc. And there are multiple kernels coming out for OC, voltage control, under clock , etc. Obviously getting official 4.1.1 code from Sammy is ideal, but it will have TouchWiz which many agree can be slower than vanilla Android.

I don't know why people can't just be happy with what they got, I mean seriously, we have the best possible phone out right now, for Verizon and pretty much the USA. If you want JB root and flash, General consumers don't care about it. I, personally, really enjoy touchwiz, all the little tweaks and stuff it add is really cool, and probably the best skin on android, and I don't see how you can make this phone any faster realistically, real world performance, not talking benchmarks. Sorry for the rant. I'm done.

I have been reading these forums for the last few days. I have seen a lot of threads like this but they have not really answered my questions.
I need a stable ROM, where phone, internet, text, gps all work. I am looking for the best battery life. I am also not looking to flash a ton of updates.
I would like to get a jelly bean ROM if one fits my needs. If not then Ice cream. If you guys could recommend a jelly bean and Ice cream rom I would appreciate it.
Thanks again for the help!
PS Kenny if you reading this and you want to make a Jelly Bean Peoples ROM I would love to try it out!

For Jellybean No doubt Paranoid Android
For ICS (TouchWiz) Synergy
I guess everyone agrees with you

It's just tough to give a meaningful answer to this question because it really depends on how you use your phone and your personal tastes. Best thing to do is try out several ROMs and see what works best for you.

For ICS: Cleanrom....it removes all the bullcrap/bloatware and doesn't mess with it too much so things work and work well. Dirtytweaks if you want a little more customization
Synergy is good, however still has some bloat in it that I'm surprised has not been removed...still a very good rom thats geared moreso in my opinion for a heavier tweaker as opposed to just needing a steady not messed with too much rom
Beans is another good one and in my opinion the inbetween of clean and synergy
For JB: paranoid or just go with the default official cm10 nightlies though I can't speak much of personal experience with jb
The CM10 Nightlies(Jelly Bean) are/have become stable enough with yesterday's release. Minor GPS problems as in taking a minute to fix(it does fix, just takes longer than normal sometimes) and some FC's in random situations(Swiftkey install, when you go to change settings through it it FC's the settings. Gotta go in directly to the settings) are about it.
All the functionality bugs seem to have been squished out, no more 3s call delay/echo. So far no data drops reported except from dirty flashes. Text works fine even with a SMS(not MMS) quick reply popup if you want it.
It's pretty nice and stable. I recommend trying it out. (first boot is tricky, let it sit at the activation screen until you see all your radios connect then reboot it and you should be good to go)
Thanks guys I appreciate the advice
Sorry forgot one other question
How is the battery life with ICS vs Jelly Bean?
Thank you
Incubus's jellybean port is 100 percent perfect, literally no issues. And a 5889 quadrant score.

you should spend a week with a CM10 style ROM (i prefer paranoid android as already suggested), and a week with a touchwiz rom.
they are different experiences. you should try them both for sure.
hello Everyone,
I get a little bit of Google searching on this topic but I could only find questions and no actual answers. for some reason since I have switched to jelly beans, all of my pictures of arriving on my phone are coming through and say 5 or 10 second video. the pictures that I send to my wife's iPhone do not show up on her phone as a video. I know that I cannot long click on the picture while watching the little video and save it to SD card, but I really don't like having to do that. I have never seen it before the stock messaging app, only since moving to jelly bean. AOSP rooms don't seem to do it either. It's really annoying and I wad hoping there is a setting somewhere that I can change it so it just shows the image in the thread that I can click on and view.
Thanks in advance

I 'm looking for Jelly Bean for my HTC Thunderbolt. I want it so I can download and use "Google Now," which requires JB. I've done quite a bit of Googling for it, without any luck. i've also searched through here somewhat thoroughly. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get this? I'm not a developer, just a power user.
Please help. I will mail you cookies. Whatever flavor you like.

Although google now is officially supported on jb, it can be run on ics. And from a quick look at the thunderbolt developer section it looks like theres quite a few ics roms.
Try flashing one of them, then check out this thread to see how to get google now working on ics.
Also no need for cookies...just press thanks
Thanks for the reply! Yeah.... a short while after leaving my post here, it dawned on me.... "why focus on getting JB for my thunderbolt?? Instead, focus on whether or not I can get Google Now on my ICS!!"
I followed some instructions about deoxed-ing, my Thunderbolt, but would get a ton of errors when going through the actual conversion. I think it's because the latest version of the tool I was using just doesn't jive with my Thunderbolt. I had to give up last night so I could get back to my family. I'll be trying it again soon, or exploring some other tools/options to get this done.
Just a thought... I don't really care about Google Now looking pretty on my phone, so do I really *need* to deoxed my Thunderbolt? If I understand it correctly (*remember that I'm just a power user, but definitely a "noob" when it comes to hacking and dev stuff*), the deoxed-ing process just allows for changes to the themes or visual aspects of android. Correct? So *in theory* I could just install a ICS Google Now mod/hack/whatever without the deoxed process?
Thanks again! (and BTW: I did press the "thanks" button as well.)

I am considering of buying an HTC One SV,and I see that it says "upgradeable to 4.1.2" on various websites, but I want to know for sure from you users if any user, regardless of his country, cand get the jelly bean update, before I go out and buy it.
Thanks!
Jelly Bean, 4.1.2 (& HTC Sense 4+) is out for every One SV model.
And we are hoping to get 4.2.2 the next weeks (not official confirmed).

And would you personally recommend this phone? I am looking for a fast and responsive camera, snappy application usage(so fast processor I guess) and the possibility to play big games with no problems. Also, how long can you squeez out of the battery life?
Sorry to bother you with so many questions
I like it and if we get 4.2.2 it will be the perfect phone for me.
I'm not a game player, so i must skip this point. Apps running fine and without problems for me.
Battery life is good for me, ~ 2 days. But i charge it every night to get the full power per day. Of course, if you only use fastest internet connection, it will drain faster.
And what about the display, because I've seen that people keep saying that it's too low denity of pixels?
No problem for me but this is a point of personal preferences.
Pro of this resolution is, it needs less battery than high res phones.

I meant about the sharpness of the image. Is it sharp and clear or is it slightly pixelated?
Sharp enough and not pixelated for me.
But its still personal preference.
Go to a shop and have a look, if possible for you.

Ok,thanks for the answers!
I'm planning on getting this phone as well on boost mobile. I know the phone now comes with Ice Cream Sandwich but after I root it, will I be able to install Jellybean on it? That's my preferred OS.
NEVERMIND:....DUH!!!! I forgot JB is after ICS. My bad! Sheeeesh! Been a while since I've been back on Android!
First you should think about, if you want "only" root it, or if you also wanna S-Off.
You can get root after all updates without problems by unlocking bootloader and flashing recovery + your preferred root app. So if thats enough for you, do all the updates and then go to htcdev.com.
But i don't know, if S-Off will work with latest update. So if you want that too, do it while you are on ICS (1.11.653.1) or JB (2.06.653.5).
By the way, latest update has number 2.06.653.6.
