are you using a custom rom? the stock messaging app?
Need more information to be able to help you out.
No stock ROM stock messaging app.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
May need to change your settings. Go into the messaging app, hit menu, then settings. You may have it set to delete after so many.
Yeah I saw that but it says after 200 in one thread. does it mean 200 message total or 200 in a individual thread?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you're running stock or a stock ROM and are using the stock Samsung messaging app, you should be able to backup SMS with a Samsung account. It's not gonna help bring back the ones you lost now, but it can help prevent you from losing anymore from here on out.
Individual basis.

Can anyone, more specifically anyone running aokp or another jb rom (I've only tried SkyJB and aokp) tell me if the normal Tapatalk app is having issues displaying images?
I'm using the free xda app and it's only showing me maybe 1 image per page, if that. It's really, really annoying.

Tapatalk does the same thing for me. Also annoyiong, at least for me, is that the 'last read' message is out of sync, I always have to go back a few posts to see where I was last.
Glad I asked before buying the app to solve the issue. I know it's not much, and I can refund, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.
I figured the official app has had more recent updates than the xda app, but I wanted to see anyway.
Sent from my SGH-I727
So...strangely enough I'm seeing more pictures with CM10 than I was with aokp. Not sure if there's a correlation.
I'm having the same issue with xda premium on orthus 5 but didn't have any problems with it on liquid 4. So I installed tapatalk and now all images are showing up. Has to be a ROM specific issue but don't know how.
On Sky JB you need to uncheck GPU rendering in settings > developer and all images show up.

One thing that kills me about stock touchwiz is the lack of group texting. I don't want to switch to a 3rd party SMS app, but I am thinking that is what I have to eventually do.

Im sure there is a way to load TW messenger to work on other roms. But how many people actually continue to have group conversations thru text?
Group texting like send one text to multiple people? I do it all the time even with mms's
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I wish stock mms had the capability, but it's not a huge deal to me because Verizon messages works very well. You can even disable stock and Verizon messages will still work.

Ya Im confused too, touchwiz mms allows you to send to multiple people. I guess they mean keeping it all grouped cause the touchwiz one replies all come in to seperate threads?
If your rooted you can switch out the stock mms app for a aosp one, i.e. themed and stock

it isnt really "coping" when I have never wanted to group text. facebook tells all my friends what i want them to know about...
It drives me nuts when I get those group texts from iPhone users. I love how android does it, separate threads

Thank you. One iPhone user sends you a group text and then you gotta get bugged by every other iPhone user replying to the original sender. One of the most annoying things in the world. Sad thing is, they think it's cool.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
I guess it's handy to the sender. I assume they haven't been on the other end though.
Is it even in option on a "stock" android phone. I've had moto, htc and now Samsung, I don't ever remember it being an option.

I can't stand the stock msg app. GoSMS Pro is so much better imo.

It separates the threads to each individual who responds. So if the group is 6 people, I get 6 different texts from 6 different people. HTC never had this problem! Coming from the rezound. Lol

It is standard now on aosp 4.2. I used to think it was annoying, but now after using it with friends, I see why it is useful personally.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
It is honestly driving my crazy! I HATE tw does not support this and it is really annoying. A lot of my friends use group messaging and If i were to reply to the messages being sent I would have to reply to each individual person seeing how group messages appear in separate threads for me.

I dont think those links really help. From my understanding the framework has to be changed and it is only fixed in android 4.2 anyways so im not sure those links are to helpful sadly =(
Use a different messaging app if you don't like the stock.

Ok I have a question. I tried using GOSMS and When I tested out the group messaging feature my friends had told me that they had gotten the message as an individual message towards them and that it did not appear to them as a proper group message. Is there a certain feature inside gosms that you have to have checked in order to get this to work properly?

Well yes I have and I honestly could not spot a thing about group messaging. I could of easily missed something seeing how I tend to do that at times but I checked several times and still was un able to find a setting related to it.

Handcent and Go SMS work for group. Or you can unlock and root then install an AOSP 4.2 ROM, 4.2 has Group messaging by default.
Been thinking about doing that. Liquid looks nice.

I love AOSP over TW by absolute leagues. They aren't even comparable IMO.
You can also just use Verizon messages. It handles group messaging without a hitch!

I can send group messages but they all come back in there own thread. I would like them to stay together like my wife's Moto phone. Handcent SMS seems to do it.

You might try Go too. It always seemed to be the better performing of the two for me. Glad you found a solution!
You can flash AOSP MMS on TW roms, 90% fully functional (some users have issues with iphone messages coming in blank) but personally it has been working perfectly for me.
Check out the themes and apps section, there should be a couple different apks and some modified frameworks
I miss the SMS messaging widget in 4.4 kitkat, and I don't see one for Hangouts. Any suggestions?

I am using that right now. It doesn't pull previous messages already present. Only the ones you create after the widget is installed. Still in beta most likely.

You could try backing up your texts, wiping them, installing Widget, then restoring?

It's a limitation in the app because Google hasn't released an api so it works off notifications.

Hi guys,

I've tried many different solutions like using SQLite Editor and still no resolve.

What's your carrier? What SMS app are you using?
Mabey try using EvolveSMS?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
theres an option in the default messaging apps settings for limiting the number of text messages. i changed my limit from 100 to 10000
I'm curious about this. How is it even possible to send 100 sms messages in an hour? Are you sending out one to many recipients? Or just that many single texts? Maybe I'm just old?

i dont text much, barely any at all, but 100 is easy to reach, especially if youre having a good convo. anyways, it counts all texts, both sent and received messages.
I'm unable to find this on hangouts or textra.
For those asking about the carrier, it's an android 'feature' which is really irritating.
I'm really surprised I cannot find any fixes after googling high and low!

I decided to buy Unlock SMS Limit on the app store and it went absolutely wild. It ended spamming a contact the same message 235 times, completely messed up my mailing list and drained my battery.
