Storage (sd card) wipe issue - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My process has been 100% for me so far, I haven't lost any data.
1: Unmount/eject device from windows/linux
2: Change USB mode on phone from mass storage to charge only
3: Wait 15 seconds
4: Unplug USB cable
Since the first time I plugged it into my pc, I have followed this procedure and haven't had an issue. I hope this helps.
Please post any success or failure, or any other pertinent info so we can nail this down and nobody loses their data again.

I can confirm this works fine.
I've been doing it this way for the last couple of years and it's the best way. No data corruption yet and always an empty LOST directory - good sign.

Pfffft....I just yank the USB cable out. Don't change back to charge only. Don't unmout from PC.
Never lost any data. LOST.dir is empty.

I think that when a file becomes corrupt it is moved there. I had like 3 Gbytes of stuff there...
Idk for sure though.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

Lost.dir is where corrupted or damaged files go to die. Usually a result of failing sd card, but in our case a result of not unmounting/ejecting properly. You an try to recover the damaged files, difficult but possible, otherwise you can delete everything in the folder.

Just a thought

So I'm waiting for my SD card
And
I have no USB cord at the moment
From what I know g2x don't have fastboot
But
I was wondering if I could flash a rom from my internal memory via terminal emulator
Like so
Flash_zip update data/update.zip
Just curious because I'm impatient
Plz dnt bite my head off it was just a thought for us impatient few and I'm not brave enough to try without input
EDIT
First in terminal to wipe
It would be
format system?
Or
Format ......
And obviously after flashing
Type "reboot"
But generally speaking wouldn't that be the same as flashing thru clockwork
Just a more technical way and from internal memory?

What do you mean you don't have a USB cable? without one you can't charge your phone. there's a usb cable that comes with the phone + an ac adapter, so you have to have a usb cable.

I don't know what the deal is, maybe my pc just sucks. I've installed the hack file and I read the manuel. The process fails everytime, it tells me either USB debugging isn't enabled, my phone isn't connected or the drivers are not installed. It can only be the drivers, so I read that the drivers are included in the file, ill try and install them and it fails everytime. I have no idea what it could be.

Install HTC sync from the HTC website, turn off your antivirus, make sure USB debugging is enabled, put in the SD Card you want to make a goldcard out of, hook up your phone and let 'er rip.

You can have htc installed you just have to shut it down. When you first plug in your phone htc sync will start up. In your system icon tray there will be a little phone icon. Right click it and hit exit. If htc is actually running ace hack kit won't start.

im bricked from flashing a kernel, need some help

I tried to flash 5.4 elemental last night and it went stupid and bricked me when it was complete. several users have instructed me to use the jet tool. I have set up the usb ubuntu and have it running but im unsure what any of this means really. when i ran the jet tool i get
[email protected]:~$ cd /home/ubuntu
[email protected]:~$ cd home/ubuntu
bash: cd: home/ubuntu: No such file or directory
[email protected]:~$ cd jet
[email protected]:~/jet$ chmod +x jet
[email protected]:~/jet$ sudo ./jet
JET - Jewel/Evita Toolkit v0.3.3beta
This tool will put backup critical partition data and then put your phone
into QHSUSB mode, where it will then downgrade your HBOOT.
Before running this script, you should have TWRP loaded onto your phone.
Plug your phone in via USB and ensure USB debugging is enabled.
Press Enter to continue...
Preparing...
This phase backs up /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 from your phone to this machine. In
addition, we will fetch your IMEI from the phone and use it to create an
additional partition 4 replacement to use as a failsafe. In the
event something goes wrong, you'll have a way to unbrick manually.
Please stand by...
Backing up mmcblk0p4 to /sdcard/bak4
Rebooting to bootloader...
error: device not found
Getting IMEI value...

If you don't get past Step 3 it's JTAG or repair/replacement.

has to be sd* not s* and you would get 36. you have a short window to catch them so you may not be spamming enough to catch it.

the lady at att said i got my phone wet and that they couldnt cover it, i was about to get a warranty exchange until she seen my strip was red. i dont ever recall getting it wet and it didnt mess up until i tried to install that kernel. its probably a good thing she seen that though because they would have sent me a new phone and then got my old one and probably seen it was unlocked, or do they see that? if all the partitions are wiped clean and there is no hboot how do they know what happened?

You're imei when you unlock it. But we talked about it a bit on here and none of us know for sure how close an eye they keep on that. Sucks about the water. Even sweat or snow or Moist air/steam can turn that thing red so it's a really ****ty indicator of whether or not there's actual water damage.

You need recovery for that to work unfortunately and it seems to be related to samsung phones which I'm 90% sure has a different emmc partition table.
With our EMMC bricks you can't get into anything other than QDL mode. Jtag or Replace motherboard only.

Uninstall USB drivers and than plug in the blaze and let your PC recognize it or go to the T-Mobile site and DL the drivers. I've had that happen when I plugged in other phones, most recently when I got my s4. It wouldn't let me open the folders for the blaze. It would flash on than off. Just don't plug the other phone in again after you get the drivers. If it still don't work try regedit and see if its leaving behind traces after the uninstall of the drivers.:good:

Nothing happened when i went to cut and paste from my phone to my computer, so I tried unplugging and replugging in the USB because I assumed it wasn't responding, and then when i opened CWM backup folder to move the nandroid backup, the nandroid zip is gone, but no space has been freed from my phone /:
Is there any way to get that 2.5GB of space back?
