Re-booting During File Data Transfer - Asus Transformer TF700

Currently my tablet ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T 32 gig version - It reboots when I try to do lan or wifi data transfer to my 64 gig micro sd card.

common problem thats been discussed multiple times. Others have stated that if you format to fat32, you wont have the issue. but NTFS and ExFat, the problem wont go away.

While I agree with the avoiding-the-NTFS solution, I don't think there is any major problem with exFAT. Also, I'm currently using it both on my SD and microSD cards in the Infinity and it's been running just fine on every firmware so far.

I had a reboot a couple nights ago while copying to my 32GB SanDisk card using ExFat.

Interesting. Were you able to repeat this with the same card? I was getting constant reboots while using SDCardTester app and an NTFS-formatted card/disk, but exFAT (with default block size under Windows 7) has been good to me.

Are you using WiFi File Transfer at that time? It caused my reboots many many times till I switched over to WiFi File Explorer and it is all good now...

Anyone try recording a logcat while transfering and sending to asus?

I'm experiencing the same problem but with a WD My Passport 500GB, and when copy/paste from the HD or to the HD from Micro SD or SD, it writes with aprox 22MB/s, and the suddenly after few seconds the device freezes and doesn't respond and reboots automatically, in some cases i need to perform manually reboot holding down power button. HD is NTFS preformatted.
kind regards,

^ and here's your answer (see a few posts above and other thread on this).

I had the same issue with a new 64gb sandisk card that was preformatted with exFAT, it still rebooted during a copy.
I had heard the issue is with cards above 32gb inside the tablet, others didn't have the issue when using an adaptor and the full sd slot in the dock

I have the reboot problem with a 32 Gb exFAT-formatted MicroSD card in the tablet...

Mine has the same issue. SanDisk Ultra microSDXC 64GB pre-formatted with exFAT. Even I use the built-in file manager to copy file to the microSD cause the tf700 to freeze immediately and finally rebooted itself.
Since the freeze is RIGHT AFTER i pressed the paste button, I wonder if it is a firmware issue that does not properly handle write request to exFAT filesystems on microSDXC...

So have all of you had these issues only on PRE-formatted exFAT cards or has anyone experienced it with a Windows-formatted exFAT card? (also, UHS or non-UHS?)

I just format my 64GB microSDXC in Windows to exFAT. Looks good at first. But when the card get filled (I copied the original content back, which occupies ~10GB of space), the same problem happens again.

Things are getting more interesting... After the failed attempt (which caused my tf700 to freeze and reboot), the microsd seems to be working fine on tf700 again... Nothing is done to the card nor the tf700 (except the reboot caused by the freeze). I can copy file to it or use SD Card Tester (tested with 660MB and fine).
Before formatting the card in Win7, I can consistently cause my tf700 to reboot by SD Card Test (running the default 300MB). Not sure what went wrong...

Card errors.

I'm getting a lot of card unexpectedly removed errors. I was wondering if there is something known to cause this. I have reformatted the card a few times after experiencing this error using Windows 7. The card will work for a while, and then it happens again. I have a 16gb Sandisk card. It's only class 2. I wonder if it's the problem. I never had a single problem with it in my Tilt 2. I have about 9gb of music on it. I may scale that back to about 5gb. Also, when I place files on the card using the card reader rather than directly onto the phone in USB mode, I seem to get better results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've got the same card with the exact same issue. It's enough to make me want to pull my hair out I do know that

I used to have that problem till i switched ROM s. Try Leedroid's, TB fusion, or Cm7 nightlies with Lord mod ue kernel. I had no issues with those.

Did the new sd card work at all for you?
Was it formatted as FAT32?
Can you use a file manager app like Astro to navigate and see any files on the sd?
Try reformatting the sd

SD Card Copy Speed

I can't seem to make the skyrocket copy any faster than 1mb, sometimes not even above 600kbs. Any ideas why?
I'm using slimbean 3.0 and the regular CWM flashed from rom manager.

2 possible solutions:
Download SD Speed Increase from the Market, that might work or
Go into Settings > Storage > Hit the menu key and choose USB Computer Connection and change it to MTP (this works very well for me).
What class is your sd card? Class 10 it's the fastest. It only copies at 10mbps. My skyrocket copies at half that around 5mbps. Unless I use cwm then I get the full 10.

Not sure on the class but when I plug it into my microsd to sd adapter I get speeds up to 6mbs
edit: looks like class 4
Just threw the card into my xperia play and it's cruising at 3mbs
Copy rate of 15mps >.<
Edit: Plugged in my class 10 card and I get the same copy rate of 600kps or less.
I'm gonna try the sd booster app
Edit: no luck
I'll try a different rom tonight, see if that makes any difference

Files gone..

Many of you have compplained about sd card corrupting i havent experienced that but this, morning i woke up to my music and videos, missing from my sd card. I know they were on there because i listened to a song with my headphones on, and when i laid down for sleep i watched 30 mins of a training video for certification test ill be taking next month.
Weird right.

Is this a question?
Lol I meant to ask if anyone has seen behavior like this? That's about 10 GB gone and only 512 mb in lost.dir.

So the files are actually gone? Did you lose everything, or just some of your files?
How are you checking if the files are still there? File explorer app on the phone, plugging in the phone to your PC - or perhaps the best option, pull the card and use a card reader?
Very strange indeed. I've used this phone for 8 months or so - while I've always had the same SD card in it, I've never had data go missing.

I was able to recover about 4GB, it was that little because i copied some files over while getting dressed in the morning (not realizing that files had been lost). The training videos were about 6gb but i didnt really care about those since i have a subscription to cbt. Most of photos and videos are lost now tho. Something told me to dd this sdcard the day before.
I used photorec on linux and recuva in a virtual machine. I put the sdcard in a usb card reader.
The only theory i have is that my battery died because i didnt charge it that night (was at about 30%), and it didnt shut down properly in time. You would think it would have time to shutdown properly but that's the only reason I could come up with.

Performance of SD card is not good enough

Hi,
In Camera mode, I'm getting the message: Performance of SD card is not good enough, please switch to internal storage.
My SD was working fine with the HTC U11, & first few days with 11+
I've updated the phone via OTA, then a couple days later, it happened with the SD card message.
I've copied files back & forth between the SD card & my laptop, everything is working as usual.
Also, during a phone call, when I hit speaker, it's just not really working.
Does anyone get similar issue?
Thanks!
Do a factory reset , maybe it will solve it

I also get the same issue. Anyone found a solution yet? Or has anyone used a particular microSD card that doesnt give this error?
Edit: To those who are having this issue, what microSD card are you using? Lets see if this issue is caused by certain types/brand of microSD cards...
I had a 8gb either Samsung or Kingston in it and received this error message. I have since put a 16gb SanDisk in and no error message as yet.
I use sd card ss evo 64gb and it's good performance for me.
