Ugh thank you was sweating bullets for a minute
Im guessing thats not the right way to remove ATT stock apps? lol I been browsing forums but can find nothing for HTC Inspire 4G
If your not to sure what you should or shouldn't delete, then the best thing for you would be to just flash a stock rooted rom. Like clearD, tcp, or dilligaf.
Titanium backup is the right way. Why don't you try twopumpchump optimized stock Rom in the development section. We're very helpful over there and will walk you through it. You can flash a ROM that already has the bloat removed.

I was attempting to remove the blockbuster app lol
Im kinda nervous to flash roms, I spent 3 hours last night reading/prepping myself for the root, was so nervous of a brick (btw new android user came from iphone) I have a buddy who had a nexus he bricked trying to flash the cryageon rom which is a well trusted rom. Just really scared >.>
Plus will flashing a rom remove contacts ect?
It's not as hard as you think. Take your time though. Best to do your research. Check out the Rom I suggested though and drop in if you have any questions.

As long as you have them saved on your sim no. Personal data yes. Apps not if you back them up. Make a nandroid back up before flashing. All you have to do is download the rom, place it on your sd card. Then boot into recovery install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, pick the rom select yes. You just flashed a rom.. As far as I know no one has completely bricked their inspire, even the people who have had corrupted boot loaders have been able to recover.

I looked into the rom, I like how its a stocked rom without the bloatware and the extra features,
Just all this lingo and everything is confusing
"you need to have the stock AT&T Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M with this rom, you can learn how to flash it here. if you have issues please read the FAQ before you post a question in the thread".
how do i check this?

You will need clock work mod. Just open the app and select backup current rom. It will save everything as it is now so you can return to it later if you need to.
Mudknot, how's the theming coming along?

Honestly, I haven't had a chance to sit down at my desktop and try and mess around with it, college has taken up a lot of my time. I will say its a lot more complex then people think it is. It makes me really appreciate the people who bake roms and make themes.
I will probably sit down this weekend try tweeking a few things, and hopefully get it to work with out boot looping. Makes me wish some one lived around here that could teach me a few things I am a visual learner. I will get one working though .

One more question, how do i sync my contacts and messages to my gmail or whatever so when i flash a rom i can have it all back?
Hmmm. Haven't done the contact thing in a while, as long as they're saved in Google they'll always sync. As far as sms goes, I use mybackuppro

Please if its been posted, tell me where and ill read it but a quick search revealed nothing. I just picked up my inspire and when I check for HTC update it shows there is one. Do I need to update before rooting? Also what changes are there as far as any major steps to flashing a Rom. Like if I want inspired ace can I just root, flash recovery and install Rom? Or does the bootloaders need to be flashed before flashing a gingerbread Rom? Sorry for the 838393 million questions but I'm a long time Samsung user lol,I know my way around rooting and flashing but I know HTC phones can be a little different

No. You Do not need to update first.
Read the sticky at the top of the forum for the rest. There you will get only answers.

anyway, like he said do that .. as far as the update first or not:
you can flash whatever radio you want after you are done rooting; for me i rooted before the OTA, but for wifey we did the update first.. it doesn't matter, as the info will be destroyed during the root anyway.
you cannot OTA after root from what i gather, as i was never offered the update as i was rooted

Lol sorry for putting it like that. It's just sometimes someones question sounds like one that's been answered already, but they mean it in a different specific way. Here lately people have been a little rude about the whole "its been answered" but really I just have a hard time explaining exactly what I mean in text. I don't mind reading the stickies but sometimes it gets confusing if you are new to a device and don't know what stage the development is at lol. But thanks man,ill go read the stickies and if I have any problems ill just post back here lol. Appreciate the kind answer

Well don't take it to harshly most are just sarcastic. I mean I am just sarcastic.
What doesn't help is when you can't truly tell for sure if its a playful sarcasm or mean sarcasm. It sometimes is hard to tell considering we are talking to each other in text form. There have been some posts I've read, not by you, but others, that I couldnt particularly tell if they were being mean or just being a smart @ss just to mess with someone without offending. I just wanna say something to the ones who have meant there sarcasm in a mean way. My wife's cousin coined these 2 phrases, and I like using them a lot. "Can't we all just smoke a bong!" And, "Life's a ***** and then you die, f*** the world let's get high!" Lmao ;D

My favorite method is to apply the OTA and then use Gingerbreak. Chainfire is a fantastic developer and I used gingerbreak to install rom manager, flash CWM, and get your flashing on.
Hi all.
Just got my Desire S S-OFF and want to know where I go from here ,I don't mind doing the reading if someone can tell me if there is a definitive guide on what I need to do and what I need to do it. Never had an Android before

I'm new to rooting and andriod in general. So far this forum has been great and I have been able to root both a nook color and nook tablet without too many issues.
I'm trying to put ICS on my wife's Sprint Nexus S 4g. I figured out to do a backup of at least the contacts. That's all I could figure out on the forums. Seems you need to be rooted before you can use titanium backup or any other full backup? Regardless, I got the contacts and that's all I'm really worried about.
Basically my question is I see all the posts for ICS have just a zip file linked. With no SD card or anything, I'm not sure where to put the zip or to extract it?
I see some general instructions in the tutorial, but they aren't really comprehensive.
I assume I browse it via usb on the computer and put the file(s) somewhere, but I cannot find a single post explaining where. I really did look. I apologize if it is everywhere and I somehow missed it, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The phone is currently running 2.3.7. Thanks in advance.

Thanks these are a huge help. I'm still suprised there aren't more text tutorials in the posts.
Does anyone happen to know if 4G is working on any of the ICS builds or not until official release?
Look in ns4g development section. There are a handful of ics roms there. Be carefully to only flash rooms from the nexus s 4g dev section and not the nexus s.

No problem most ics roms have working 4g. I'm running vhgomez rom and everything works. I also like gummy nexus the dev added the software buttons so its like a baby nexus. Only thing is u have to flash a custom kernel that allows u to chand the back light dimmer so the hardware buttons are off.

Hello all, I've been tweaking with my Xperia Arc and Samsung Galaxy S2 for 3 months now, but a friend of mine asked me to install a new ROM to his Inspire.
It's currently on stock. I found a nice ROM thread and read that it needed the "Radio S-Off" and I don't understand what that means.
I know I'll be able to flash the cwm, and unlock the bootloader (hopefully) but that one kept me guessing. Thanks in advance!
The steps are: Root the phone. Install Recovery. Flash custom ROM.
If you don't know what that means or how to do either of those steps, you shouldn't be messing with the phone at this point. All the information you need is already available in these threads. Do your research.
Research!! Each ROM thread the developer shows you how to flash them. There are also specific threads that teach you how in development section. Do not attempt anything with your buddies phone if you don't know what your doing or you may end up buying him a new phone.
Research and study!!!Reasearch and study!!! I myself searched and searched for weeks before I attempted anything on my phone.

Read the effen manual!!! At least3 times. Word for word, don't skim.
If you don't read and then you wont know if you don't know then you shouldn't be doing it. Just saying.

Read the entire effin manual more than 3 times if you need to. There is a quiz at the end. Make sure that you are in the correct thread for your phones. You have posted this on the inspire thread.

Thanks all, lol I know guys! Geez, I did my research as soon as I asked this, just sometimes asking its part of researching for me buut it's done, thanks to someone who pointed me to Ace kit on pm and here! And yes, I read the effen manual 5 times. Although Ace kit it's pretty clear and easy. I found out that this phone in particular it's bit of a different work around than my other phones(Arc, S2). I flashed him Android Revolution HD ROM and it's pretty cool, although too stockish for my liking. Thanks again guys.
