Try fixing permissions with Rom Manager or clearing the launcher's cache and rebooting?

Since the launcher is the part of the Android user interface that lets users customize the home screen (e.g. the phone's desktop), launch mobile apps, make phone calls, and perform other tasks on Android devices (devices that use the Android mobile operating system), and because the launcher is built into Android, you wouldn't be able to "launch" anything without the launcher...

Launching CWM is not done from android or the launcher. It is done by booting into it as an alternate recovery, so it has basically root level access to EVERYTHING.

I would like to start by saying this is entirely my fault but I would be very grateful for any help.
So, I downloaded a custom launcher called touchwiz 4.5 onto my phone and everything was working perfectly until I decided to open up root explorer and try to change the name so it would run in the background instead of TW3. So I did it but when I pressed home it asked me which launcher to use and I selected the wrong one and the set as default was checked. Now, I am stuck without a launcher so I can not open anything at all to fix the problem.
I will be extremely happy if I do not need to buy a new phone and thank anyone in advance.

Left Soft Key -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Find & select the TW4.5 launcher or whatever in the list -> scroll down to Launch by default -> Clear defaults.
Thanks, but there is one thing I forgot to mention earlier. I cannot access the main screen because I receive force close messages while the phone is on, and there is no delay between them so I cannot even use it. I was thinking maybe there is a way through the computer.

You have a root so you gave cwm recovery, correct?

Look up Odin in the Bible. You can use it to restore the phone. If you can make a backup of your micro SD onto a computer. Other than that if you deleted your launcher your phones gonna keep FCing on you. Cool thing to try to delete though.
ADB Push the apk(s) back over?
Your best bet would be to just go into CWM, create a NAND backup, Odin a new ROM, and advanced restore your NAND's data. That should clear up everything.
Using ADB is not that easy, especially when you're new to all this stuff.
Everyone should be forced to learn.basic adb commands before being able to root their phones for problems just like this.

Is it possible to have it auto install my, doing a lot of tapping.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
A little unclear question, but will try to answer what I understood.
You can select from "Batch" (or just click on backup/restore tab and restore user apps (+data if you want). Or you can always extract from any nandroid backup you already had.
If by tapping you mean superuser permissions, you can always check remember permission for that app when allowing it.
By auto install do you mean instead of hitting install each time just have it done automatically? You need titanium pro

Does anybody know if there is a way to reload the arrangement of the application icons and widgets on each screen every time you do a wipe and fresh install? I know titanium backup allows you to save your applications so you don't have to redownload those everytime but it gets annoying to have to hold and drag all the icons to each screen everytime i try a new rom.

You really really should buy TB Pro but if you're really that cheap you can use this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupRoot
*if you didn't wipe /system and /boot it is NOT A FULL WIPE*

Does TB Pro offer anything that McBackup Root does not?
Launcher blocked by wrong. No home screen anymore!
Hi,
I need your urgent help. I'd froze HTC Sense in Titanium backup because I was working with Go launcher, but today I disabled Go launcher in startup manager and I don't have any home screen now.
How can I restore one of them (Sense or Go launcher)? I don't want to hard reset my phone because I need my contacts, SMS, ....
My phone is rooted and I'd installed clockwork recovery.
Install Go launcher again using adb install command.
There could be many more ways to get it working, don't panic.
I installed ADW Launcher and launcherpro directly from android market.in status bar it shows that they are installed. but they didn't run and my screen is still blank.
I blocked the startup programs using Optimize ToolBox(15 functions)
is there a way to manage startup apps in recovery mode? Some thing like an script and so on.
------
update: Default pc connection mode of my phone is "Internet pass through" and I can't change it because it doesn't show connection mode screen. I think I can connect it to pc in recovery mode. I will search to learn how can I install go launcher using adb. hope it helps.

Oh no!!! I had disabled usb debugging too and can't turn it on. adb show "device not found error".
what I've done: boot in Fast boot USB. run "adb install filename.apk" and shows " device not found".
So recently, I haven't been able to use the copy feature in any app. Every time I try to copy text, it then causes the app to force close. Anybody else having this problem?

Have you recently flashed your rom?
If yes -
you may want to try clearing your data, cache, dalvik cache to make sure you have a fresh load.
If no -
Maybe see if you have a new OTA update for your phone

I'm having the same issue! Sometimes it force closes, other times it let's me copy but won't let me paste. Are you using SwiftKey?

2 options:
1) Factory Restore
2) ROOT device, install ROOT Explorer, navigate to / > data > clipboard, select ALL and delete all, than go into your Settings > Applications Manager > All, look for TestServices, than remove updates/clear data. Reboot and everything should be fine.
Something in your clipboard became corrupted by TestServices

I had the same exact issue (stock rooted) and I was using the newest SwiftKey as well. It's possible that it may be related to SwiftKey, so, maybe try changing back to stock keyboard? Anyways, for me, after I flashed my first ROM, the problem went away. Sorry, no direct solutions, but just wanted to chime in with my experience as well.

I had the same issue and I was stock EVERYTHING. I rooted just to get rid of it. It looks like the clipboard never clears itself. My folder had snapshots (using the Jedi hand wipe across the screen), text clips, weblinks, etc. each in their own separate folder. Wonder if this is a feature to data mine us Verizon users?
EDIT: Anyway, I found a link to fix this by user dr3do on Android Forums.
1. boot recovery (CWM) > advanced > wipe cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer > delete /data/clipboard/*
3. reboot recovery again > advanced > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > it's fine

Backup the launcher you are using. If it's a TW rom, backup the TouchWiz Home app, then when install new rom (provided it's another TW rom) restore the data only from that app. I do this all the time on Omega roms.

So I backup my touchwiz home, then as a test I removed a widget from my screen. Then I restored the touchwiz home and the widget isn't there.
Do I do it wrong?

No, but did you reboot? Most of the time a reboot is required when restoring the launcher. Just to get clear, the app is Touch Wiz Home 4.2.2 I9505ZHUDMl1 or similar. Back it up. Then when a new rom is installed or when just going to recovery and doing a full wipe you boot back up. Install TB from playstore. Restore all normal apps. Then, restore data only of TouchWiz app. The phone will prompt saying to the effect of when a system app is restored a reboot is recommended. Then reboot. All apps should be in their place, however widgets will have to be manually placed again. This only works for apps, not widgets. But for me this is still a way quicker way of setting up a new rom to my way of liking.

Hi there,
Making long story short, I need more size added to android system directory to install more system apps. I am running on Chroma(Android 6.0.1 ver.) for Nexus 4.
I am left with some 80 MBs whereas I have 12 GB free in data. Help me add some size to system from data so that I can install chrome, camera etc... as system apps (user apps to system apps method).
Please help me out!
Thanks for reading.
Your response will be highly appreciated.
Can't you have these apps as user apps installed? Just after wipe you can install 'em back or just restored a backup u would have done earlier.
But about ur question, I think it's possible by resizinig using fastboot, or just running on pc gparted and then repart ur phone, but I don't give any warranty it will be working

Yes I do want to install them as system apps but for that I have to resize system partition size....how to resize that? Can you tell me fast boot commands? Or gpart method?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Okay, but what is main reason you want to have them as system apps installed?
Now I've realized it's not easy as i thought, because to use gparted u need to see all avaible partitions on phone, afterwards it's very simple
About fastboot i have no idea what commands should you use, just i know it's possible to do it with it.
But i also realized, when i had my old htc hd2 - when i was flashing recovery, for every rom were special requirements about partitioning internal memory. Then with flashing file was a file containing script which was formatting the memory, just in every rom u had to change values. I'll check it when i will have time and let you know how was it.
