Touch not responds after a long press...check reply #5 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

P3100(stock rom) Touch not responds after a long press(noticed in games).
Especially in game:Monster Shooter: Lost Levels, sometimes in gta(while driving).
When i long press a button in game after sometime screen do not responds and i have to wait for few seconds...
Pls tell me if anyone have this problem too and any solutions???

Maybe just processor lag? Is the game otherwise smooth? Are you using a screen protector?

Else games are super smooth.no lags at all.yes i am using protector

Can you long-press something else and see if it works normally?

Try this out:
go to settings.long press any option say display or sounds...
Then it will automatically release the touch(approx 10-15 sec) and screen will not respond to touch for approx 2sec......

I tried long pressing the software button in the settings and nothing happened. I don't have the same issue. Tried with the galaxy tab 2 10.1 5110. Full stock (not even rooted yet)

This sounds like what my Motorola Photon would do. The fix for the Photon is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469904
It's a rain drop detection "feature". I don' know if this can be ported or not.

this release works only with proximity sensors, this is a minimal version of our application, but the next update (will need a least 1 month) will works even without proximity sensors and it will contain a new function (sense lock screen with full weather animations that will looks 100% like the stock sense lockScreen, this will be the first real sense lockScreen),so please keep an eye on our thread.

Thanks! Now it's ok.
Good to lock but unlock is unstable (sometimes reactive, long or inoperable) and home key can still unlock screen...
Great app, very useful, dude. I have detected these problems:
You have little translation errors (Préférences-->Preferences; secondes -->seconds)
Can you reduce the sensibility? If your pocket isn't very tight, your phone can be unlocked and cause problems.
There is a lag if you are using the CPU Governors Smartass and InteractiveX. I think you can't fix this, but would be better if you put a notice about this potential problem.
Tested on Gingerbread 2.3.7 (Xperia X8, custom kernel).
Testing now, will use throughout tomorrow and provide feedback in the evening. Really great idea for an app.

So, tested it on my Galaxy Nexus (Maguro/GSM, CM10 Stable). At the moment it seems to be a bit unstable, no FC, but sometimes it doesn't really work.
The first time I switched it on, my home button couldn't bring me to the home screen, just flickered and still on the screen of the app. Only back button or app switcher worked.
Would be nice if you put a option (yes/no) for a notification icon on the status bar.
Is it possible to use the proximity sensor for switching on again or does it drain battery too much?
By the way, if you need translations, I could offer German
EDIT: Tested app version seems to be version 1.0 as shown in the app info. Please add a version number to your downloads and somewhere in the app for easier comparison. And as always, if it is not to much effort for you, please upload also to Google Play, so all installations get your updates quickly.
Works very responsively. A few transityion errors for me and the shake to unlock is a little off.
Tested on HTC One S S4 4.0.3 ICS
Initial use is great. I like the idea of being able to pull phone out and unlocking without any input from me. Check what I'm after and replace in pocket, and locking again with out any input from the user.
Things I will be watching the next few days are unwanted wake ups and battery drain.
Would like to see this stick after rebooting. As it is now, you must start service with every reboot.
Sprint note 2
Sbkjuggalo here thanks for the chance to test ur app I will report back after some testiny

Hi Steph310,
you said unlocking is unstable, with which values on the "unlock time out" menu ?
home key should unlock screen only when the phone is out of you pocket,is it?
(when the phone is covered ,screen should go off again)

it is normal that CPU Governors(Smartass) causes problems, the low frequency while screen off can cause such problems
"If your pocket isn't very tight, your phone can be unlocked and cause problems." ==> it should work with ~5 centimeters of height, this is related to the proximity sensor's limitation(but i think it is enough)

The app works flawlessly, but at a point it is too much. I, sometimes rest my finger over the sensor when using the phone in landscape, and it turns the screen off.
(Search on where the sensor stays on Sony Xperia S).
I know it is a beta testing now, but both the UI and the icons need an update.
In summary: Works flawlessly; the idea with it is a no go for me and my phone; UI and icons needs update.
"What really matters in this world, anyway?"

[APP] [4.3+] Hold Back To Kill [ROOT]

Here is an app that allows you to hold your back button to kill the currently open application.
If popularity is high enough, I will update it with things like whitelist etc.
If you use a Samsung device, the only problem is that you can't show the MultiWindow bar anymore. I will work on a fix for it. I only made this because xposed doesn't work on Samsung Lollipop yet so this is what I wanted until it is. Once it works, I prolly won't ever touch this app again.
Thanks everyone!
UPDATE:
- Performance improvement
useful, thanks for this!!!!
Great job! I've been missing this feature since I switched to Lollipop. Thanks!

It seems to be working on CM12 but a little too good

Hello, CM12 with standard navbar (3 buttons) doesn't have that setting. It s only implmented in roms with navbars with extra settings like opening an app etc etc
Having Trouble
I'm having a similar problem where even a single tap on the back button is closing the app. I have a rooted Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4

So this is happening when using the navbar and not the physical buttons?
It seems like the up action isn't being triggered. I could try to implement maybe a double click back to kill option. Ill try to debug on my 5.0 emulator that uses the navbar and see if i can figure anything out. Weird how that's happening.

Hm, I truly don't know then. I really would need the device in hand to test with. I could try to do testing by sending you a file with loads of debug information in it. Would you mind that?

I was just an idiot that assumed the activation time was in units of seconds, not milliseconds. This may be what most people are having trouble with. It works well now, so thank you and keep up the good work.

no, but it will take a while. i need to test multirom on my device and i have have to finish the translation of an app first.

Awesome - best thing that can happen to a rooted stock rom.
btw its labled "Main Activity" in App Drawer, not "Hold Back To Kill"

Wallpaper parallax not working anymore?

I updated via OTA to BGO8 2 days ago and since then the parallax effect isnt working anymore, my phone is 100% stock, i even tried to delete TouchWiz home data with no luck, anyone else has this problem?
Same here!
After the 5.1.1 update the parallax effect is gone. The only thing i can see when i activate the option is just a little zoom of the wallpaper.Anyone knows how to fix this???
I confirm. Wallpaper Motion Effect is not working. It maybe a bug. Hmmm....
Well, at least im not the only one, let's hope Samsung will release a fix soon.

Question Back button doesn't work as back gesture

Hi all, from some days I have a strange issue. Back button doesn't work if I set back gesture, but if I choose multitasking it works fine.
Already rebooted but nothing. On a Facebook group, another person tell me that has same problem, but whit a reboot it works for some time.
Someone other with this issue?
Same issue here from time to time, reboot normally makes back button work again.
