Does anyone have a link or know where I can get the Nexus S software before Sprint released their latest update? I thought it was Jelly Bean update as most of Sprint users have been waiting on, only to find out it was a Sprint " update"
Without going into much detail, I would like to go back to the software it was when the Nexus launched.
I don't have root access, nor do I want root access at this time since I use Google Wallet and don't want to risk my personal data
Does someone have the Samsung software I could download? Perhaps I could root flash back, then unroot?
Any help would be appreciate as I have searched and not finding any real answers. If you have some info please message me or post here.
Thanks

Good Evening. I am using a Sprint branded Samsung Nexus S SPH-D720 on the Boost Mobile Network and have the 2.3.7 version of Android currently installed. I am new to these forums, and am looking to upgrade the current Operating System on the phone to the new Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.? version. Which is the best, newest, WORKING version that I should upgrade to as of today? Remember I am new, and NOT familiar with the flashing process on cellphones. Is there a guide I can use to help walk me through the process, and to backup the current version in case I make a mistake somewhere along the way - so that I can restore it? Someone please help. Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!

First of all you should consider if you want to unlock and root you phone. For most Roms you need to unlock the phone (which can be undone later) and the roms come with root access (which, under some circumstances can void your warranty).
Maybe you could just use the official ICS update, with that you don't really need to bother with flashing etc. if you don't want to.
Otherwise, you'll find lots of different roms in here (mainly in the android development forum) and also lots of guides how to do certain things.
Just look around, I'm sure you'll find most of the guides / answers you are looking for. If not, you sure are welcome to ask
just don't forget that you have to set your APN back to boost whenever you flash a ROM for your mms to work.
If you need help with flashing, send me a PM and I'll do what I can to help

Hi all in this thread,
I have a nexus s 4g runninn 4.04 and Im wondering how did you get on the boost network? Please tell me or link me to any threads.
Hi there,
I'm having a little trouble with my phone.
I originally updated and rooted my Nexus S to Android 4.0.3 back in March, however due to stupidity, I updated my phone with the Vodafone AU OTA update which was released a few weeks ago.
So my question is:
Can I update and root my Nexus S to Jelly Bean? If so, how can I do it?
Also, are there any dangers with doing so? (Root - OTA - Root again)
The tools I used were found on the Nexus S Hacks site.
Any help would be appreciated
James
I just got a System Update notification for Jelly Bean. Not sure if I should go for it.

I haven't tried this, but why not give it a shot? go to superuser app and look for an option to keep root after OTA, it may/may not keep root, but if it doesn't work, just follow the post above. good luck!
Hi i am new to the droid community got this fone as a gift from a bufdy of mines, got tonrun it on metro pcs network was really to setup. Anyways i update to ota with out doin no reaseach seems like i am stuck with 4.4.4 my question is there a way to root xt10180 non dev or temp root??? Can someone guide me the rite direction thank u
P.s if this is not the rite place pls move post t.y
Considering there is other sections more appropriate than the "Dev" sections for a question or concern, this would certainly not be the right place to ask.
But to answer your question, no. If your BL(bootloader) is locked, you have OEM/Stock recovery, and are on 4.4.4 you are screwed. It appears the Ultra is no longer being supported by anyone capable of finding a method to root. However, you can PAY for a BL unlock code, but it apparently has not been successful for everyone so I personally havent tried and would not pay the premium and possibly get nothing in return. At 4.4.4, you are unable to downgrade to older versions capable of root. Unless someone releases a method of bypassing the stock restrictions - you may have to wait until the next update. Only problem with that is the day after you update, if you choose to, someone may release a tool or method to bypass those security measures. However, if you dont update immediately you may possibly miss the window of opportunity to use a crack-able version of an OTA and wind up being stuck with too new of a version (I am not 100% sure on this last statement, as its been awhile since I was fully involved in the dev world). Hope this answered your question.
Yeah know I am stuck on this version. N I also won't pay for no bl that's not going to work. If someone do come out with a crack version I am willing to donate. I miss been root man. I hope someone do come out with a way to bypass this restrictions. I know they are a lot of smart ppl out there, that can help us noobs lol.

Hello friends,
I have bought a Nexus 5 with the 5.0 lollipo version and got the update message for 5.1 yesterday. I downloaded and started the update and it gave me an error. While checking it it says that my phone is Rooted? And thats a very bad thing. I want to set it to factory default and unroot it then update to newest version.
Please can anyone tell me how to remove all the root and set it to default normal original android version then update legally?
I would appreciate if someone would help me and suggest me something.
I know its not good to suggest me custom android versions for my nexus but how can i know whichones posted here custom ones are good and which not?
Im just a newbie and would need help if possible to explain me about it.
Thank you very much

If your phone is rooted and you have the SuperSU app, you can un-root from within the app. If you don't have the app you can get it from Google Play.
Thanks guys,
Can anyone suggest me whichone of the custom roms will be good for me and stable?
Why update with 5.1 ota if you're going to install a custom ROM?
My rooted phone will not let me into my playstore, i think this could be do to rooting and then doing the android update, or maybe the freedom app i downloaded at one time. It also says I lost root. Anyways I was stupid and thought I new what I was doing and think I may have really screwed up my phone. Will flashing stock firmware fix this? think i have looked through the threads already and I think I have a good handle on this whole flashing stock firmware. My question is if I give you guys my build number/ phone info can you tell me what exact firmware I need to revert to stock? Build# VRUFNK4 for a SCHi545 samsung galaxy S4 G. Let me know please. Thanks!

The best way to flash back to stock is using Heimdall one-click. Complete instructions are available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470716
