Earphone problems since ICS upgrade - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket to ICS 4.0.4, and since then have been having weird problems with my earphones.
Before, when I used any music player, the single button on the earphone wire would pause/play music, and would also answer/end any phone calls I would receive while listening to music. I can still hear music, but the button no longer works. The mic also no longer works.
When I make or receive phone calls with the earphones plugged in, I can no longer hear anything through the earphones unless I first unplug them from the phone, then plug them back in. When the phone call ends, I can't hear any music through the earphones unless I again unplug them, then plug them back into the phone. It's almost like the phone forgets to route sound back to the earphone jack whenever it switches between the phone and any multimedia source unless I unplug it first. It was working fine before the ICS upgrade. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I never ran into that problem, are you comfortable with flashing? If so I would recommend flashing CM9 or SkyICS, since i've used both of those and never had that problem arise(basically any other 4.0.4 custom rom in the dev section should be fine). If you need help with flashing just post back and i'll be happy to help.

I took the earphones to an AT&T store and tried them out on other phones, with the same result, so it appears that it is a hardware problem with the earphones that coincided with the upgrade to ICS that had me fooled . I appreciate your suggestion, though!

Sensation strange behavior

Got a stock sensation, since 3 weeks ago. updated all the stuff, got 2.3.4 etc.
last night i was watching a movie on my phone, and the phone randomly, without me doing something - starded to call up the last phonecall ive made. THATS STRANGE! i hung up, and it started again, but it hang up itself.
anyone with the same problem?
oh, plus, when end a call - put the phone away, the screen lights up, then turns of.
remember my phone is all stock, no S-off, or custom rom or something...
Did you have the headset in? I've read a few threads where jiggling the headset jack can cause the phone to think you've pressed the headset button and it'll dial your last number.
Actually I only used regular in-ear headset, no mic with buttons or something. Regular ones you listen to music to.

Kindle Fire Audio Problems

So I flashed the latest Rom for my KF, VideoTouch1-20. For the most part the Rom is awesome, getting better each update and with audio finally working I can use my sucker as a big a$$ mp3 player. Anyways I ran into a problem that I haven't seen being addressed on the KF forum.
Audio works thru speaker just fine. When I plug my earphones into it, comes thru my earphones. When I unplug it though audio does not restore back to speakers again. I have 3 KF's(ppl on craigslist are selling them cheap and afraid to super brick one) and I've been able to replicate it thru all of them. I haven't yet tested them on previous builds yet(at work right now) but I was wondering has anyone else run across this problem.
I've made sure that its not muted, volume is all the way up, audio should have been restored back to speakers once unplugged. If i reconnect my earphones back though audio goes back to earphones. I have to kill my music app(or any audio app i was using to get it back to speaker again) or restart it.
Would address this on the KF forum but I cant yet
Hopefully Im not alone and yes I did my research on this... Actual followed the thread since the beginning. Very good reading material and learning experience.

Droid 2 Global - no sound

Greetings,
I recently rooted my Droid2 Global and installed CM7 on it which has worked like a charm. However, a few weeks later I completely lost volume on incoming calls through the ear-speaker.
Speakerphone, and hooking up earbuds into the 3.5mm jack both work but the speaker refuses to... I just can't hear anything.
I read various forums stating that Motorola's and Samsung's had an issue where they would get "stuck" in headphone mode but I don't think this is the problem since the headphone mode icon comes on and turns off appropriately when plugging and unplugging earbuds.
I'm wondering if this is a software problem or if the phone itself is the cause? I'm trying to figure out what to do before I decided to replace it...
Have you ever tried testing it with the stock firmware?

[Q] Headset not fucntioning in call mode at all!!

Hi all,
I have successfully rooted and flashed Paranoid Android 2.54 onto my ATT HOX and it is a wonderful ROM for sure. I love the options that it provides and the silky smooth, almost stock interface. The only real issue that I have come across is when I try to use a headset for calls. I am defining a headset as a 3.5mm plug in set of earbuds with mic (Klipsch S4i to be exact). When I listen to music, be it on Pandora, Google Music or Apollo all is well. As soon as I try to use the phone, no sound comes through the earbuds and the mic does not function. In fact you can see a noticable slow down in the dialer app when the headset it even plugged in. If I make a call, then plug in the headset, everything goes silent and the other side can't hear me until I unplug the headset from the phone.
Here is the real kicker though! I have my car stereo modded with an aux 3.5mm plug for listening to music and if I plug the phone into that it works just fine in phone mode! Now, I do realize that the Klipsch is setup as a TRRS and the car aux is just TRS (so when using the car stereo I am effectively bypassing the mic portion of the 3.5mm plug and using the phone's mic), but I cannot for the life of me understand why the headset will not work.
I am hoping that someone can enlighten me or least tell me that they to are experiencing this same issue. I will gladly provide any more info that someone might need to help diagnose the issue, and thanks in advance!
Update so far...
So, up to this point here is what I've found. If I plug in a normal set of earphone (read buds only no mic inline) then I will get sound through them no matter what I am doing (youtube, music or phone). Also, in this configuration anyone I am talking to on the phone can hear me just fine as I am using the phone's mic. However, when I plug in an earbud/mic combo the phone will not function. I get silence and the other side cannot hear me speaking either. It's as if the software has somehow told the headphone jack to act differently than it used to with earbud/mic combos. I am stumped as to why the OS would not allow this type of use when it is so standard. Anyone have any thoughts?
I actually have the same headset and I started having problems with it on the stock rom before I even rooted and flashed a custom one. I honestly just thought it was because they're really made for apple phones. Sometimes I'll just unlplug and plug them back in for them to register. Other than that I haven't seen a fix for them.
P.S. Klipsch control from the play store seemed to make things worse for me

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I think I am going to try another ROM just to see if it will help, but I have the distinct feeling it might be a hardware issue. I just can't understand why this would all the sudden malfunction right after rooting for me. Maybe just a coincidence. I will definitely respond here though if flashing to a new ROM helps...

I've never tried paranoid but King kang(which has paranoid elements) works fine for the most part. nocturnal'd dirty rom, miui, and cm10 have all worked for me tho. I'm currently on the unofficial cm10.1 4.2 and that's working for me as well, except when I have the headset plugged in while booting.
Final Update....And SUCCESS
So, it appears that it was some sort of ROM specific issue. I flashed CleanROM 5.1 to my phone and "wah-lah"! The headset works perfectly in all modes. I am not sure what it was about Paranoid Android 2.54 that would not allow the headset/mic combo to work with the phone, but I am free of it now I guess. I will miss the interface of PA, but boy does CleanROM run FAST!!! I am in awe of the speed and responsivness. I hope the battery life holds up like PA did for me and I also think that the quick settings on CleanROM basically RULE.

[Q] Disable all headset controls on rooted S3 4.1.2

Okay so here's the situation. A while back I dropped my phone while earphones were plugged in. It must have damaged the headset jack or something because now when I plug in earphones, if you even slightly move the phone around or have it on you while running or moving around, it activates all sorts or things, from pause/play of music, to starting the music player, to Google voice search. Its incredibly annoying, and I've tried several sets of earphones and the problem persists. I'm all ready rooted running a version of the stock ROM. I don't have any headphones that have controls on them, nor do I intend to get any so I would like to know if it is possible to disable all headset controls. Appreciate any and all help.

Maybe try replacing the headphone jack. I purchased this part from ebay last year when my S3 headphone jack would not play audio through headphones. I have had no issues ever since. It's fairly simple to replace and only a few bucks.
Gotta ask, are you sure you are not pressing a button on your earphones to activate any of these settings? My SkullCandy earbuds have a pause/play button that I was previously unaware of.
Just wanted to update. I ordered the part you listed and it fixed the issue. The repair was a breeze too. Thank you so much!
