Hy guys! Firstly, I'd like to excuse myself if this question seems dumb, but I'm not a developer, just a curious!
I have been watching the development of CyanogenMod 9 ALPHA to my phone, a Samsung i8150 (Wonder), and now the Arco's job is almost perfect (thank you, Arco!).
I'm brazilian, and althought I don't write well in English, I can understad it easily, and use to translate softwares to Brazilian Portuguese; some are freeware that I like, others I translate in exchange of a license. But each translation I make, I make thinking in the people that don't use that software because don't understand the English.
And as Samsung won't release ICS to my phone and I'll use Arco's ROM, I thought I if could translate the ROM language files or use another metod to add the PT-BR language to CyanogenMod 9 by Arco and share it in some brazilian foruns. I searched the forum, but I didn't found nothing about it; the nearest I get was this topic, that explains wich files should be used (if I'm right...).
Could somebody give me some tips, or tell where I could found more informations?

As i've seen here there have been some ROM translations from chinese to english.
If it can be a public info can you explain how it is done if it is by HexEditing can you specify the best HexEditor for this purpose.
PS:I need to translate becouse WM2005 will never get out in my language.

thing as your language well maybe not if your language have special chars like asian or arab or kylic

Search the forums for "localizations" (or is it localisations? Too much US spelling around so I can't remember any more which one they used).

If you want the whole phone in Spanish, you want localisation.

If you don't read or try to help yourself, I can't help you.
They only make ROMs in the most popular languages, or the languages the ROM cookers speaks. So don't expect to find a ROM all ready to work for you in Spanish after first boot-up. There may be a couple multi-language ROMs, but you have to use the search function...

few people don it as it's a lot! of work
as far as I know one have to extract the rom
and using a hexEditor to take each exe and dll file
in the rom and manually translate piece of text
if I were you I would search for the forums for
various translations and ask the people behind
how and what they did

I use MIUI roms a lot of time, becouse its the best for my phone But polish [PL] translation is wrong All menu, custom app are in english. Google apps working fine.

I am very interested in rom translation for my HTC Hero (G2).
This rom especially is pretty fine to me, but only available in english. I'd really lov to help my french friends to have it in french.
I noticed this post on free your android on how to translate a rom. It is very interesting but will totally translate the rom.
My idea is to understand how to add a multi-language, i mean to allow the user to choose its language (and keyboard) on install.
I searched a lot but i can't find any tutorial or help on this point,
