Hi guys,
I bought a tablet from the guys over at Allview. The price was decent and the tablet is nice, but the douchy problem is that they did not include the android marketplace. I need it.
The device runs a eclair (android 2.1) update 1. Is there any way to install the marketplace without rooting the device ? and If not, can the device be rooted ? It has no phone capabilities (no sim, no gps, no camera) so I have 0 ideea what tool to use, especially because i really have no ideea what happends when rooting.
The little i got informationwise is that i'd probably need to root it > connect it to pc, use the andorid debugging console to "push" the app into the system folder. Tried to install whatever vendor.apks I could find but since the "host" os was uncertain, it's probably why they could not be installed. Alas, i may be wrong. Can you please help me out ?
if you need more infor google allview or Alldro
Thanks a lot !

Here ya go! just download it to your destop, transfer it to you device via usb, or download it to android device and run it from there!
thanks a huge lot !!! I will try this out. if it cannot install it means I will probably have to root the damn thing
thought as much. it won't install. I'm using ES explorer to install it (my device is not rooted yet, as I mentioned before) and no luck.
EDIT 1: Also tried copy=pasting it into the system/app folder. it says android marketplace blablabla copy failed. Is it possible that I am dealing with a NAND lock ?
could be that system is mounted read only.
Do you have root?
nope, not yet. I;m trying to root it as we speak... so far still going through the steps
EDIT: trying this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858952
so far i got to making the recovery image. for some idiotic reason however, I cannot do adb reboot recovery again ! it tells me error: protocol fault (no status)
my guess is that it doesn't like the recovery folder's name. else i don't get what's wrong ! I am going to rename the folder, and then attempt a second reboot-recovery. see if that works !
EDIT2: did not work. Could it be something else ?
ok i did it ! the problem was I had skipped rooting and forgot to add a few more params after doing the backup... whew ! that was a close call ! ffs !

Hi,
Is there such an app for the phone P2 from Allview?
Thank you in advance,
Poli
You will need to root your device to be able to push the vending apk into the system apps.
1. Root. its essential to do so.
2. Mount system partition r/w > google for adb commands on how to do that and adb in general
3. download the google apps provided above and either unzip and push vending apk to system/apps (not sure about the exact names, you'll have to see for yourself by using Root Explorer) . Restart phone > should work.
hello and pardon by the English because I am translating.
I have a HTC S and I wanted one 2 days ago I put a ROM nandroip and everything but I realized and I wipe the entire phone erasing all the ROM and everything I had.
the problem is I can not install a ROM on my phone now because every time I try from windows CMD when you start the installation makes me daemon not running, and sends me error: device not found.
I've tried with another tutorial that you have with the application all in one kit but also not let me access this sd every time I try to enter telling me insert disk into drive E: \.
I can do?
I think it may be by the drivers of PC but not sure I instadao have 5 or 6 drivers and nothing.
an administrator's name is called android MYHTC ADB and other android or something.
I am desperate thank you very much took 2 days doing everything.
thank you very much.
my windows is XP.
Ok, Sorry but im having difficult understanding everything you say, But i think i got the basics.
I would suggest you re download the drivers, Remove HTC Sync if you have it. Move all of your ADB files in to 1 folder so its easier to navigate to when using ADB.
Can you boot the phone into recovery ? I assume you have CWM as you say you installed a nandroid ? If so, Use ADB whilst in recovery, USB Debugging is always enabled when in recovery so you should have no issues finding your device from there.
If all goes well and you find the device, You can then PUSH and INSTALL files / roms from there

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for anyone replying to my dumb question.
Today I was preparing to use the Aroma Toolkit to restore my phone to a basic stock. I placed it in a folder called ".rom" on the internal sdcard so it would appear at the top. (can you believe it?) I have CWM Red and it doesn't see ".rom" as it is now hidden. (I guess) Unfortunately, I already wiped AND formatted "system" so I can't boot the phone up to change the folder to something more sensible. I cannot restore from Odin OR Heimdall because my phone won't show up on ANY PC and it only shows "Unknown USB Device." I've been up and down with that one too. Also, I tried to put the toolkit on the external sdcard both as is and as update.zip but it says there are no files. I think my only way(s) out of this would be to Odin or Heimdall, if I can get either working again, or if there is a way to get the CWM Red to see that hidden ".rom" folder.
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading this.
folders and files that begin with a dot are hidden in linux systems like android. you are seeing an unknown device because you dont have samsung drivers installed. you should be able to go into mounts and storage and select usb mass storage or something like that and it will mount as a mass storage device where you can rename the file in windows where that doesnt show as a hidden file.
if you wiped system, if you turn off your device, you might not be able to get back into recovery and youll have to use odin or heimdall. you can download the samsung drivers from http://d-h.st/xEG and when you are in recovery mode, go to device manager and select from the list of device and choose samsung composite device or something like that i dont remember.
next time you want a folder to show at the top of the list, i think you can start it with an underscore. i could be wrong about that though. you can try it out and see.
I don't recall if red CWM has the mount as usb storage option. If not...
Next step is getting the drivers on your PC. Easiest option from there is Odin or Heimdall - unless you want to download the android SDK and use adb shell to rename the directory.
Underscore should work for sorting...
fwiw I use exclamation points.

Thanks for the reply! Although I did have the Samsung drivers installed with Kies mini, I removed Kies and installed the drivers in the link you gave me but no luck. USB used to work fine in Win as well as Lin but it stopped suddenly. I am able to get into both recovery and download mode fine but I can't go anywhere from there. I tried to "mount sd_ext" under mounts and storage in recovery, hoping to access the aroma toolkit file from there, but I get a can't mount error that says /dev/block/mmcblklb1p2 (file exists). "mount USB" doesn't help either. I really did it this time....
Thanks again for the input
well, if youre not going to download mode to run odin, and you cant do usb mass storage in red cwm, and you want to do it from recovery, you need to choose samsung adb device in device manager. then you need adb and can do adb shell and run "mv /sdcard/.rom /sdcard/_rom"

sd_ext in red recovery does not refer to the external sd card (even though you would think it does from the name)
For compatible drivers, remove all Samsung phone related drivers from your system and install the first driver package located here (not the mini-kies one):
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I997ZKAATT
Some things that may help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982306&page=2
Also, turn off auto driver install in Windows 7 - could be your PC is deciding what is best for you before you can install working drivers:
Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > "No / Never"
Then install the driver, then connect your phone. Once the driver and devices are fully installed you can change the above setting back to what it was or to "No / Install" (that's where I usually leave it)
Good luck
Well I sincerely appreciate all the help from you guys, and Zen Arcade, thanks for the toolkit that brought me back from disaster quite a few times. I tried all of your suggestions, but it seems like I might have a hardware failure which occured before all this. I was able to connect to USB fine and out of nowhere it just wouldn't anymore. That was OK. I still rom-hopped along with straight to phone rom aquisition, but then I made a mistake. One I have learned from. I'm not able to get the phone to show up AT ALL. I even tried a clean install of WinXP then the drivers from Zen's post, and Nicky's Win7 laptop. I also tried several versions of Linux. Only Mint's Gparted could see it as /sdb/ with a corrupted partition. I even gave Haiku's Drive Probe a shot. Jack of Clubs, I tried the SDK shell but it just scans and sees nothing. I just think that the USB thing is roadblocking any hope of saving this heap. Recovery is there, download mode is there, but the connection required to utilize either of those is gone.
Again, I truly appreciate the help.
Well I've been trying to get CWM to see the Infuse Toolkit (and various roms) on external_sd but it keeps saying:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /sdcard
I've tried 4 different microSD's formatted as FAT, FAT32, and I used SDFormatter (I saw someone recommend that somewhere). I really see this as the very last ember of hope for this phone before I let it go.
Any ideas?
BTW, my CWM is v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix
Thanks again and in advance.
Infuse GB recovery menu will not see external SD card.
If you can get adb working - connection to your PC - you have some options. From adb there are commands that will allow copying files from PC to phone ... also from external to internal sd card depending on which kernel you are running. You could also rename your hidden folder too.

Thanks again for your continued help Zen. I just can't get it recognized (in a constructive way) by anything. I tried Santoku linux today and nothing. I've just been beating my head with this thing. Well here it is: CWM is accessible, as is download mode, and it charges fine, but no PC connection. When it was given to me, the glass was cracked, but it always worked fine for me. It's in a Ballistic case. If your interested in it, I'll be happy to send it to you, even if it's just for parts. I loved this phone, and had a lot of fun with it. (thanks to this community and all of its' contributors) I think it's time to move on.
I'm gonna start looking at a phone with a good selection of custom roms cuz I just love flashin' 'em
Let me know if your interested in this phone Zen.

XDA offer a guide to rooting all devices, you can find it here
Any news? thanks for everything
Hi man, i managed to root my Iconia One 7 (B1-750).
I downloaded and used the tool on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096 i used the T3 Option.
Be carefull when removing the Acer files as i had problems when my device would reboot when it woke from sleep so i suggest to make a backup of them with Titanium befor you remove them.
If you do remove them like me on acident without making a backup look for the stock B1-810 rom which is on xda somewhere and pull the apks from there to your device the files are in the system/app and system/priv-app folders.
Guys, please i need your help, i just tried to use xposed installer but after installing the required files in /system and rebooting my tablets softbricked. Sounds good that you guys have been able to root it.
What ROM have you installed afterwards?
My son has this tablet and mainly I am bugged by the fact that apps can not be installed on SD card.
Need help with flash browser, would rooting help?
I have a new Acer Iconia B1-750 and I am trying to use the paid version of Puffin Browser to access a Learning Management System to play elearning modules developed in flash. I have the free version which installed without any problem but when I try to buy the paid version to have a flash browser i get "Unexpected error, please try again later". Has anyone come across this issue or is there a way around it - it doesn't have to be Puffin but I know these modules work with this browser. I have tried dophin and UC browser but they keep giving me a Flash failed to Load error. Would rooting my tablet help me get around this?

Currently there is no custom rom you can flash and i think there would never be
It's an Intel tablet, the bootloader is locked and unknown so wow
Personally i advice you to not try anything unless someone else did it and it worked ! I remember myself when i tried xposed installer and it didn't work, my tablet was stuck and i really though it was over [Imagine , my savings gone ! ] i will never do it again, it's not like those chienese tablets that when you mess up with them, you just connect it to your pc and flash a rom with sp flashtool.

I have restored the tablet and continues with the same fault, is there any way to reinstall the software factory.
Any solution?

It's a bit tricky. The device drivers do not include this specific device. I have the exact change you need at home, but here's what you need to do.
Extract the Acer driver files to your HDD.
Browse to the inf folder.
Open the file intc_adb.inf.
Look for the arch your desktop is running, either [Generic.NTx86] for x86 or [Generic.NTamd64] for 64 bit.
Under the section header from the previous step, look for the CPU model. In this case it's "; Intel Baytrail Android".
Open your device manager, find the ADB device in the tree. Right click it and go to the Details tab.
Change the Property drop list to "Hardware IDs". Take note of the values in the list.
Go back to your .inf file you are editing. Find the line that says "%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0502&PID_3705&MI_01 ; ADB + MTP"
Update the line with the harware ID's you noted previously.
Save the file.
Now update the driver the usual way and the ADB driver should work fine.
After doing all that I still was not able to get the device rooted (using the T3 option). It stops at the DROIDBOOT screen. If you get past it, post back with how you did it please.
Hi Domito,
Thanks for the answer.
Wih your help, I managed to install the driver.
When I launch the .bat file, the tablet reboots under droidboot, unfortunatly I get these message, them nothing else happens :
Code:
E:installer device ignored
FASTBOOT INIT ...
E:Failed to mount device '/dev/block/sda1' as installer partition using fs_type 'vfat'
E:installer device ignored
E:installer device ignored
E:No valid installer medium found.
FASTBOOT CMD WAITING...
Could not open /sys/devices/virtual/blacklight
Has anybody also experienced this ?
Can you please help ?
Thanks
Hello, I was stucked at the same screen. But there is one solution. When you see this log you will have to open device manager. There will be "android device" or something like that. Then you will have to enter driver update, choose android devices and then acer composite adb driver. After that the CWM will show up at tablet. Sorry for my english.

I don't know why, but that happens when you remove the korean keyboard. You must reflash the original ROM and then proceed to remove all the bloatware except the korean keyboard.
Hello,
First time writing on the forum so please tell me if I do something wrong .So ,yesterday i've installed kubuntu on my nexus 7 , via platform tools (flashing img on fastboot). In kubuntu i have installed gpartition with terminal ,because i've saw that i only have 6 gig of free memory on 16 gig nexus 7 , and i wanted to know why.I opened it and when he finish analyze my tablet ,he find 15 gig of unalocatted space. So i decided to format that partition. After a minute he promted an error ,that he can't create disk label and adviced me to reboot before making any changes. After i closed all apps ,i rebooted my tablet , but something happened, she doesn't boot up any more.I tries diferent buttons combo, but she doesn't boot up,and i noticed that i can't access bootloader or custom recovery or fastboot. From some resources on internet i've found that it may be hard bricked. Can anyone tell me if is it hard bricked( i hope not) and if is it , how to solve that? I also want to add that i don't know to use nvflash , and i've never maked blob file backup. Can anyone pls help me?
