I have an xperia arc (4.0.2.A.0.42) that've rooted. I've found a rom that i want to install and I've installed Rom Manager. But Rom Manager dosen't support my model. So I don't know what I should do. I've looked around on google like crazy but I don't find anything helpfull. Can I do anything from the computer or someting? I appreciate if someone could help me with this.
Make sure you have fully backed up everything.
If you have rooted your phone by the revoulutionary hack.
Reboot into recovery and do a full wipe and then install zip from folder
Ensure the custom rom is on your SD Card.
And Voila!

Read this from my previous post BUT DO NOT download CWM recovery posted by me there better look for Xperia CWM recovery in rest the same things you have to do
also you should read this thread
enjoy!
Just got my first device rooted.
Now i have installed a ROM.
I feel awesome.
But then i read this
"With ROM Manager you can back up your existing ROM, flash new ROMs, and install custom themes or kernels. It features a long list of ROMs which is frequently updated and you can install ROMs to the SD card or OTA (over the air). If you want to unlock features like premium ROMs, update notifications, and automatic backups, then you’ll need to spring for the premium version."
So now i am trying to figure out what custome themes are and what custom kernels are compared to the Avatar ROM i installed.

Now let me put this simple. The ROM is the operating system of your device (OS). You know what a theme is. Its just changing the way things look can be your icons, interface shade/colour,etc. Its just visuals. And the next is kernel. Kernels are the thing which links your OS and hardware. Literally they are responsible for the way your phone behaves. Custom kernels has tweaks whicj can improve your device's performance, the battery drain, way your processor's I/O works.. It helps you to do things like over clock and under clock, etc. But it is risky as your manufacturer has made a stable kernel for your device and these custom kernels may be unstable. Sure thing you dont want to mess with em unless you know what you are doing. Now as you have choice to do things like changing ROMs and Kernels using Rom manager, i would recommend you to use CWM and flash zip files which has ROMs and Kernels made specifically for your device as this is more safe. But be sure to have a backup as installing something not meant for your device will brick it. Dont worry. Have a backup and also Odin with stock rom incase its really hard bricked. If it helped hit thanks button plz..

Awesome now i have a good hint of what each thing are.
Now this lead me to some more questions.
Since i have already rooted my device. I have installed Avatar ROM and tested some others...
But i never made any backups... Is it to late for that?
Is my best choice to download Titanium Backup and backup everything with that application?
You said something else about Odin, how to backup aswell with that?
What is CWM and how does it differ from Rom Manager?
When i install a ROM i download a zip file, put it on my device SD card
Boot the phone in and wipe data, wipe cache, wipe delvik (or whatever it is called) and last install the new .zp file.

CWM is clockword mod recovery. An advanced recovery which has more options than stock recovery. I guess you already has cwm. Probably it must be what you used to flash the Rom and clear cache. Now to Titanium backup, it backs up the whole phone, so do cwm. As we use CWM for our flashing and other things, cwm backups should be enough unless you got space on your sd to have many backup files. And if your phone is working perfectly right now then its never late to take a cwm backup as if you ever encounter a bootloop while tweaking, you can restore your phone. Sometimes even cwm fails to fix your phone. This is where Odin comes in handy. Odin is a pc software which can be used to flash the stock Rom of your device. You can search and find the Stock Rom for your device and region if you google. You can find how to flash using odin guides out there. Flashing stock rom via odin will remove every traces of ever tweaking your phone which includes rooting, flashing of custom roms and kernels, etc. Your device will be just like when you bought it. This is helpful when you want to take your phone to service centres as rooting and doing other stuffs will void your warranty. Hopes this helps...

CWM is a shell and not an app and it cannot be installed on android os so you cant access it through your Rom but you can run it whenever you need it but through stock recovery. CWM comes as a .zip file which should be selected from stock recovery or in other words flash it. It will open cwm recovery. And you can access advanced recovery options which stock recovery doesn support. Well search and download cwm for your device, place it sd card root(not inside any folder), run it using install update option on your stock recovery, it will open cwm which will be in yellow colour themed. Select backup and restore opt in it and select backup. That will take care of taking full backup of your device.

Well.. Thats good to hear. And there was none other than me. And anyway a small precaution, never interrupt while you are flashing through Odin coz it will hard brick your device which is literally R.I.P to your device.
Hello Guys..
This is an easy guide that i have created for all the Newbies aka. Noobs :silly: so that you guys can learn a bit about rooting your device, flashing recoveries on it,installing ROMs etc.. I will tell you guys How to root different devices,Flash recoveries and so on. I will also update the thread regularly...
SO FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO BEGIN BY GIVING U PEOPLE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF "WHAT IS ROOTING?" "WHAT ARE RECOVERIES ETC ETC"... :silly:
SO LET'S BEGIN..
BRIEF INFO ABOUT ROOTING AND IT'S ADVANTAGES..
Rooting basically allows users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's sub-system.. Rooting will unlock your device's potential to the fullest and you can do a lot of things on your device if you root it..Root access is the basic necessity for installing Custom ROMs,flashing recoveries and so on.. If you root your device then you can also improve your device's performance by flashing some mods/tweaks also.. But BEWARE!!! IF YOU ROOT YOUR DEVICE YOUR WARRANTY WILL GET VOID.. THERE ARE 98% CHANCES THAT AFTER ROOTING NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR PHONE.. BUT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE AND YOU CAN'T TURN IT ON AGAIN OR YOU GET ERRORS THEN I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE..
BRIEF INFO ABOUT CUSTOM RECOVERIES..
Custom Recoveries perform the same tasks as the stock-Android recovery with a few additional features, such as the ability to make full system backups, and flash custom roms, wipe system partition, mount USB storage from recovery etc...
A Custom Recovery is necessary to flash Custom ROMs. Each time you flash a ROM there is the potential of data loss, so having a backup is crucial. It’s not the best solution but it sure beats reinstalling all of your apps, if you are not happy with your custom rom.
There are two major custom recoveries for Android, both achieve the same results, with a few differing features. Both are highly recommended.
1. CWM Recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery)
Clockworkmod Recovery developed by Koushik Dutta, comes in two flavors, a key operated variant and a touch variant. Both versions are similar To the stock recovery, but feature some pretty useful tools.
Clockworkmod features a built in file browser for ROMs, ADB and nandroid backup. There are a couple methods for installing Clockworkmod, but the easiest by far is via Clockworkmod’s ROM Manager app, which provides a one click installation and updates for the recovery.
2. TeamWin Recovery Project
The TeamWin Recovery Project is a touch based recovery manager, that provides a less intimidating experience for new users.
Besides the user interface, it provides the same features available in Clockworkmod.
TWRP unlike Clockworkmod, doesn’t provide the same kind of one click installation, however it can be installed with a few adb fastboot commands.
BRIEF INFO ABOUT CUSTOM ROMs..
Custom ROMs are basically a fully standalone version of the Android OS.. There are many advantages of installing custom ROMs.. Some of them are --You can upgrade to a version of the OS that has not yet been released for your device, or never will be.. This is possible if a ROM from another phone is ported to your phone by a developer.. Through Custom ROMs your phone's speed, performance, reliablility and many other things will get improved.. And most of all u will get a new UI(USER INTERFACE) through some Custom ROMs.. BUT BEWARE AGAIN!! :silly: When u flash a Custom ROM Something Could Go Wrong.. First of all, something may go wrong with the flashing process (that's the process of installing the ROM) and leave your phone in a bricked state( A state when your phone doesn't boot or gets stuck at boot logo and vice versa..). The chances of this are pretty low nowadays, and most of the time you can restore it back to normal.Try to go for the ROM that has been tested by time and has lots of positive feedback.
CHECK OUT THE SECOND POST TO KNOW HOW TO ROOT YOUR DEVICE... :highfive:
Hit the thanks button if i helped u..
How to root your device..
ROOT YOUR DEVICE
Nowadays there are pretty many methods available on the net to root your device but as far as i know the best methods to root are mentioned below.. I have personally tried these methods with lots of phones and got a success rate of 98%!!
Method 1.
Use the Android APP called Framaroot.. Through it you can directly Root your device from the device itself without the need of a PC!! Here is the link of downloading it -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276 First download the app and install it..Once you have installed it then open it and click on any exploit from the list in framaroot app.. Once the process is completed, reboot your device... Now if you see the SuperSU app in the app drawer then your device is successfully rooted!! Now do anything that u want to do with your rooted device!! If this app doesn't work then try the 2nd method below..
Method 2.
Use the application ONE CLICK ROOT.. One Click Root is one of the most popular software for rooting android devices. With just one click, you can root any android mobile and tablet and get access to lots of new and amazing features. Guess what? You don't have to pay a single penny to grab this tool. Here is the link of it -- http://www.oneclickroot.com/download-now/ Download the application to your PC and follow the on-screen instructions to root your device.. If even this doesn't work then try the 3rd method mentioned below..
Method 3
Use the Windows Application SRSRoot..SRSRoot is another easy to use solution for rooting any of your android mobile and tablet. This software has multiple exploits to gain root access on your device. Here is the link to download it -- http://www.srsroot.com/Download the app, connect your phone to the PC and follow the on-screen instructions to root your device..
FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FLASH RECOVERIES REFER TO THE 3rd Post..
How to flash a custom recovery on your phone..
If you have decided to take a trip to the land of custom ROMs and Android hacking in general, you’d need to take one first step - flash (install) a custom recovery... If you want to flash a recovery then follow these steps.. (This is for flashing CWM Recovery..) -
First install Rom manager from Marker or Google Play store. Please bear with the advertisement if you installed free version. You can also install premium version to avoid unwanted ads.
Step 1 :- Now launch the ROM Manager and click Recovery Setup under main menu.
Step 2 :- Go and tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery option. It’ll also show you current and latest recovery.
Step 3 :- It’ll take few seconds to detect your android phone model and other details. Different phone model requires different version of CWM, So please select your model accordingly.
Step 4 :- Once again select “Flash ClockworkMod Touch” option and it will begin downloading CWM. You’ll see the downloading process bar, wait until entire download process completes.
Step 5 :- Now its time to verify the recently installed ClockworkMod Recovery app on your phone, So first open ROM Manager and click on Reboot into Recovery it will cause phone to enter into ClockworkMod recovery.
If that doesn’t work for you then you should try to manually reboot phone into CWM. For that first shut down your phone. Now at the time of booting keep pressing the key pattern on your phone to get into recovery to get into CWM mode..
This is how you can successfully flash your Android device with Clockworkmod recovery. Thanks for reading my post and hit a thanks if i helped!! :good: :good:

Hello friends consultation
What is the best way to install the recovery on LG G2 D80020y ...?
If it's any thing and I have root access
Thanks and regards
Stump root, use brute force if the auto doesn't work. Then use autorec which will install the latest TWRP recovery for you.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2869410
thanks, just did this, needed brute force, it all worked for me.

Thanks men:good: work for me everything perfectly, I have put my G2 CM12
I followed this method and rooted my LG G2 D800 on the Y update, installed this Autorec, it had option to reboot into recovery or to exit.
Do we need to use this tool every time to enter recovery to flash a ROM as I chose reboot and did not see any advanced options present and nothing under developer, have not checked SU yet, if it is there, will come back and clarify the next step, as simply installing Autorec does not give me the option to reboot into recovery using the phone's main power button.
I was able to enter recovery, this Autorec installed 2.7.0.0 according to the splash screen, and the AT&T D800 is not on their list.
The TWRP manager says it is not installed, so tried CWM manager and installed CWM, it said some 5.x version installed when latest is the 6.0.4.4, downloaded an img, but been a while since pushed those onto a device and lost the knowledge..
It was within the CWM app that had option to reboot into recovery after it thought it installed properly, the TWRP was very basic and I lucked out not bricking my device using it in my opinion. I didn't see much info on flashing to CM12 and used same method as before, I see others flashing 2 times and adding kernels, some say to add SU, some say to not, a guide would rock.

The D800....y stock image does not have the option to reboot into recovery, since there wasn't a custom recovery to boot into until you installed twrp. Even still, no option unless you install a custom ROM or useYou should use TWRP anyway, better support for it on the D80x series and it has more features.
Hello community,
I was given the device last year and had been fairly satisfied with the performance of it. However, it has gotten laggy over the past couple weeks and a friend suggested to root and flash a rom on it. So, without any prior knowledge, I have been doing some research and browsing through the threads on this forum. I can see that there are guides but was very unsure if the methods would still work because I have noticed that most of them were last updated/edit a while ago. I know I shouldn't use the word 'latest' for doing this to a tablet that is fairly old in the market. However, it would be very helpful if someone can point me to some 'proven to work' or 'trust-worthy' guides of rooting, flashing recovery, and rom.
Also, just out of curiosity, please recommend which recovery and rom a first-timer should use if possible
try these roms.

I was looking in the forum and someone said that I would also need to unlock the bootloader? If so, how do I do that?
Also, is there a difference between kingroot and towelroot? I saw a post in the forum here saying towelroot is fast and easy to root the tablet.
Not much difference.
Actually there is not much difference between kings root and towel root....towel root doesn't need a PC...but I have never used it so I can't assure you that it is safe.
And coming to the boot loader I don't know much about it but I didn't do anything like that before flashing a rom or rooting my tab2....
If you want further assistance about the boot loader I can help you with that..

Hey, it's been a while. Honestly speaking, when I first posted this thread, I didn't really have enough time to do the things so now I am finally back and trying to do it. So far, I know what recovery and rom I'm going to use with all the files downloaded and ready. Though, currently, I am still at the pre-root stage. I have read up things about kingoroot and not sure if I wanted to use it. So I looked around on the forum and wonder if Odin is still a working solution. Reading on the steps and guides, I was wondering if I need to have Kies installed?

Kies is not needed as it never helped.
You can depend on odin it is your only saviour when you are in trouble.
I think rooting with kingroot is easy as it is just connecting to your PC and cick the start button.
So just notice me when your ready.
And there is also one good news...?
Tab 2 has got marshmallow.

I have rooted the tablet. I did it with odin and twrp with flashing the updatedSuperSU zip folder.
I have tried flashing the CM12.1 rom yesterday but resulted in a boot loop. So for now, I'm just rooted and on stock rom until I or someone can find out what was the problem. I have read about the discussion with marshmallow but it seems to me that the project isn't really stable yet. From what I have researched lately, can I assume there's issue with the p51xx line of tablets? Because I saw many people having problems with p51xx and most people with the other tablets aren't having any.

You first must update your tab to jelly bean bootloader, before trying out newer roms.
Or perhaps flash stock jb firmware with odin
Whatever you choose, both is ok.

The first thing you do, is take a nandroid backup, it's very important at every step, unless you are really ready to risk. It's better to have it.
Next Read through the rom threads, clear your mind and your tab too. You must format data.
Stay on twrp 2.8.7.2. Don't go to the latest one yet.
Flash rom, wait, it will boot up.
Every tab behave differently with every rom, sure you are going to face soft reboots, on some roms it will be a lot, on some it will be less. I would suggest you try both LP and kk first.
Remember, it's better to keep this tab updated than to stay on stock. This tab 2 series has a emmc bug and staying on stock or jumping back is a risk too. I have been on kk and lp. They both have kept this tab running great and away from that bug.

Do I have to unroot first? Do you have a link to making a nandroid backup?
Edit: Oh, I looked at the link you included and it said that if I am on stock jb (4.2.2), I can skip the update bootloader part..
When you flashed the new rom, did you do a factory reset (wipe data)?

Yes, that's what I meant too, if you're on jb already, you are fine. You don't have to unroot. For making a nandroid backup, use twrp recovery, there is an option for backup, select and backup all from there, if you get into bootloop or any other problem, as long as you can get back to recovery, you can restore from there. Most rom comes pre rooted.

Yes, I cleared the top four options in recovery, and formatted data before flashing.

That's what I did. Let me just briefly summarize what I have done:
used odin with twrp
booted into recovery and made back up
cleared dalvik, cache, system, and data, formatted data
flashed update supersu, booted into system and checked root with root checker
rebooted into recovery, cleared dalvik, cache, system, and data, formatted data again
flashed cm12.1 and gapps, rebooted but ran into bootloop at splash screen
rebooted into recovery and restored back up
So I'm rooted and on stock 4.2.2 currently.

I did.
Try flashing blisspop or slimLP.
