Is there a way to ignore updates of certain apps?
There's 4 apps that I absolutely do not want to update because the updates suck. But everytime I open the Play Store there the updates are there begging me to install them. It annoys me. Is there a way to tell Play Store not to remind me about these updates?
do you mean notification if so you are running jellybean right when a notification pops up long press it that should take you to info for app that sends the notification and from there you can tell the app not to send notifications

Hi,
I can see nothing in the settings to change that.
It could be an annoying bug like the fact that you cannot get rid of old apps in your "My Apps" list that you no longer use...

No not so much apps I no longer use. But apps I use regularly but don't want to update.
For example I use Go Keyboard. I love it. Use it everyday. But the last update changed something I don't like so I don't want to update it. I'm happy with the version I have.
It just annoys me that everytime I go to the Play Store and look for updates to other apps, the Go Keyboard is begging me to download it.

I noticed that after the 1.35...... OTA Skype, maps, spotify, talk and prob a lot more that won't show in market. By the way the new market is BAJS.

Or simply **** as is the meaning of bajs
I have Asian unbranded sensation. i also noticed that a lot of apps are missing.
what i also mean is that my old apps does not show-up on the new market, therefore caannot be updated.
I tried installing Appbrain, then check for updates. it then shows me that i have updates for my old apps. if you select update, it redirects you to the new market. new market magically shows the app that needs to be updated but there is no "update" button. the "update" button was replaced by "open" button. you can just open the app but cannot update it.
im not sure if the 1.35 OTA or just the new market is causing this.
i will uninstall this new market and check. if the apps shows-up again, its the new market that's having problems if not, OTA is the culprit.

I'm having a problem with the new market app. It sends me notifications for some dating app.
If I go into settings and untick google admob ads it doesn't make any difference.
Any thoughts how I can stop these?
Thanks

Are you sure its the market? How do you know its the market? I noticed ads in the notification bar from a mp3 downloader, but not from the market itself.
No, not certain, but if I click on the notification it opens the market at an app for the dating people. So just a guess
Sounds like you have some kind of rougue app on your phone...Market isn't the problem...you installed another app that has this extra crap in there that tries to get you to install the dating app.
Check the apps youve installed recently and remove them until you find the one causing it

I've been using the apk that was posted here since yesterday with no issues.
Im having a problem with ICS Market. Or 3.2.0. It wont let me purchase any apps. Tried clearing data. Uninstall/reinstall. I can download free apps but get an unmarked error(no info just error) when trying to purchase anything.
Sent from where ever I was when I posted this
(fingers crossed) I think I may have solved it by deleting the Air Hockey app I had downloaded from the market. I think it may have had a little 'extra' item included.
Once I know it's stopped for sure I'll name and shame the app on here... otherwise I'm still looking!
There are a few apps out there that do that, one of them is or was the free
version of a '3' network usage checker. Kept getting push adverts until I
uninstalled the thing.
OK, no more notification pop up adverts, so I'm saying avoid - Glow Hockey 2 -
Thanks for the help guys,
Stewart
There are quite a few apps I downloaded from the Market to try, didn't care for and deleted. Now I keep getting nagged to install updates for these deleted apps. Ditto deleted crapware apps after rooting.
Is there a way to stop these nags for apps I no longer have on my phone? And still get update advisories for ones I kept?
I saw a thread about doing this with Amazon's store with a followup that the fix was automatically unfixed on sign-in, but I am primarily interested in deleted Market apps.
TIA for any help and advice on this!
Sounds a bit dodgy. I've never had 1 single update notification for an app that's not installed on my phone. It doesn't make sense.
Something's wrong there. You've got a bigger problem to fix than just some notifications.

What do you mean it's dodgy? I'm not making it up!
It happens all the time.
I have read experiences of other users identical to mine, but no solutions.
Both with Android Market and with Amazon AppStore.
You download and install apps, try them but then delete them, but continue to get nags to update them.
What is this bigger problem you are suggesting?
Thanks for your interest.
I'm not suggesting you're making it up, just that it sounds very unusual. I've never heard of anyone having updates for apps they've uninstalled.
As for the "bigger problem", wait and see if you get any decent advice, but if not then I'd recommend a factory reset.

Solution!
Well, this is amazing!
I stumbled on a totally non-Geek solution elsewhere:
Just Turn off Global Notifications of Market updates --
1. open Market on the phone
2. Press Menu Key
3. Select "Settings"
4. Use the drop down bar in the Notifications area to disable notifications.
I can still see notifications of updates when I open Market, but I don't get bugged and can just pick and choose the ones I use. Plus, I can still set the ones I choose to individually auto-update if I want.
Eureka!
Or am I celebrating too soon?
Right, I'm a PowerAMP pro user, but with a pretty old phone. The latest app is working but it's slow and sometimes lags. The poweramp site also offers the old 1.4 version which works right for me. Now, all is fine and dandy but I;m a bit annoyed by the app always showing up there to be updated. So I searched for a method to detach the app from the market and learnt that the bug has been solved long ago and apps can't be detached. So I tried changing the app's signature, of course with no luck, my android dev skills being close to absolute zero.
So I ask you, is there any way to do this? I am not pirating the app, so don't worry
I'm also trying to convince the developer to make an unsigned version of the app specifically for old timers like me, but with no success until now..
Just use LBE Privacy guard and freeze internet connection permission for this particular app..
So it will not connect to net and not telling you that new version is available..
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.

If it doesnt need to connect to the internet for anything else you could use droidwall to block it from accessing the playstore
If your rooted you could use blackmart to download the app and never have to update it
Or see the updates notifications saying there's an update

I know Titanium Backup can detach apps, though I am not sure if it is available in the free version. However, I do recommend the paid version of Titanium Backup anyway.

I have never been able to make that function actually work and I've tried with several apps that I don't want updates for.

On a related note, is there a way to remove apps from the "My Apps"list? It is really annoying to have to scroll through a list of apps containing tons of apps that you may have tried for a while and then uninstalled when you need to reinstall something. And why is the "My Apps" list in random order and not alphabetical?

As far as I know (and after some quick Googling), there is no way to remove any apps from the giant "My Apps" list. However, I use the Appbrain android market replacement, and it lets you customize your lists and sort them better. You can remove devices from view though.

Thanks, I will definitely look into that and continue to research the issue as well. If I find any other solutions, I won't hesitate to post an update.

The most recent Youtube update messed things up again, the Watch Later list is now in reverse order showing oldest added video on top and when you remove a video from the very bottom it'll jump back up to the top so you'll have to scroll all the way down again.
I want to set it up so that it won't remind me that there's an update for youtube. Don't confuse this with auto updating as that's turned off. I just don't want it to show up in Google Play with an update.

do you have root?
if you have root, you can use titanium backup. it has a feature that can break play store links to any app, so you can make it that youtube will never see a play store update.

Do you know if that TiBu feature will allow me to turn on auto update and still keep the "detached" apps from being updated? The only reason I turned off auto update was for three apps that I just detached using TiBu.

yea, if you disconnect the apps from the market, youll never get a notification for that app to get updated, nor will it update itself. the market wont know that you have it installed and that it needs an update.
