[Q] Better Web Browser
I'm looking for a web browser for my TF that views pages in actual web form, not as mobile pages.
I think with a screen this size it should be possible, right?
Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

Skyfire has a desktop mode.

I use Dolphin, can set user-agent to Desktop.
Some people have suggested Dolphin HD as good replacement for the stock browser. I'm just not clear about your problem? My stock browser displays the webpages as my PC browser would. You can check Settings|Advanced and User agent string.
Hope this helps,

I'm using Dolphin HD and like it better than the stock one.

I guess maybe I'm missing some steps, or haven't tried a few of them that you've mentioned. Just noticed that in my firefox browser (and also the stock browser) all of the pages (MSN, Facebook) are showing up in their mobile forms.
I'll try a couple of those you mentioned and see if I can find them...Thanks!
try Firefox

Dolphin HD
This should be a poll
If you get ADW EX you can adjust the standard (useless) browser widget to 2 columns by 7 rows (looks a lot better), then when you first click on a thumbnail it asks you which browser you wish to use, click your preffered item then you have a custon full size browser of choice widget.
Lately I have been experimenting with different browsers because I am not happy with the stock browser on Honeycomb because it seems to have a lot of issues and slow performance when rendering. I know that a lot of people have been recommending Dolphin Browser HD, and I have tried that alongside Mozilla Firefox. Which browser is everyone else using on their Transformer and how do you like it?
The thing I miss most about the stock browser is the sync with your google chrome bookmarks, so if anyone can suggest how to get that to work with Dolphin Browser or Mozilla, I would appreciate it. Mozilla seems to have the best rendering speed out of the two, however, Dolphin seems to have more features and a better overall interface. Both Dolphin and the stock browser have problems rendering this forum, but Mozilla seems to do it with ease. However, it doesn't seem as though Mozilla is proportioned right for Tablet use yet.
I guess each of the has their positives and negatives, which is why I want to see what everyone else is using and their thoughts.
I use all of them because I don't like any of them. Every one has some problems. The best is probably the stock one, but it doesn't have adblock and when I turn on flash some pages turn into literally hell because of ads. Firefox on the other hand is fast but has very few options and scales images very poorly (this forum looks ugly on it for example). Opera is strange (especcialy the tabs are strange). Dolphin looks like a bloatware.
I hope to see full desktop browser on Android some time. With extensions and such (Firefox mobile extensions are laughable, even adblock doesn't have any options).
to me the stock browser seems more and more like chrome...is it just me?
All Android browsers are really inferior... Right now I go back and forth between stock and Firefox... Don't like either...
stock is as fluid as it gets
I tried Dolphin... but to be frank, it definitely does seem like bloatware. Its overall pretty awful. I keep it installed just because I use it for some websites that the stock one doesn't work properly. But thats rare. And I don't care for it.
People keep saying that Dolphin is "optimised for honeycomb" but I really don't think so. If it were, it'd run a crap ton better.
I use stock. It doesnt always work perfect, and it has its flaws for sure, but its pretty darn fluid, the tabs work great, and its just a clean looking browser.
Stock for browsing and firefox for downloading .zip files
would prefer opera as its my desktop browser of choice but its just terrible atm on android
re browser's
I,d really like to like the stock browser, or dolphin (my usual favourite), but the opera mobile seems currently the only one that has that ipad floaty feel to scrolling. Why cant the others do this?
Dolphin hd beta 5 is awesome
Firefox with adblock is sweet. For watching Flash websites, I use stock or dolphin hd. I like opera too. I guess I will be using all of them as I see fit. That's what I like about android.
I downloaded Dolphin HD because people have suggested it for those looking for a browser with an AdBlock function. Unfortunately when I go to install it, it seems to not be found in the market.
Any ideas on where to get it the AdBlock addon?
Thanks!
It's called AdFree Android

I use Absolute System Tools. It seems to work great in everything.
Anyone else have experience w/ absolute system tools adblocking feature?

If you are rooted just use AdFree, it blocks all ad's in you browser as well as in games, never had any problems with it only in some app's ad's are hardcoded in the app so you can not block them with it.
Dolphin HD had an adblock plugin (called adblocker) - quite usable - but one day they pulled it off the market and said only that "it caused problems with saving images" - they didn't fixed it, just removed it. The problem was that when you long tapped on a picture it showed a dialog allowing you to adblock the image but not save. I don't comprehend why they didn't just fix it (or at least disable the long tap feature of adblock), it shouldn't be hard.
I don't recommend AdFree and similar apps - they make loading pages longer and show 404 bugs in applications.
Ive been using it on my transformer and evo for a few months now, because adfree root adds way too much load time to web pages. Its a really great program it even lets you download and flash boot animations (on the EVO at least)
I'm not rooted, hence why I was looking for an in-browser option.
Since AdBlocker is no longer available for Dolphin, are there any other decent HC browsers that have an ad blocking option/function available?
Only Firefox Mobile from what I gather, but I hate it's interface and the way it renders pages (images especially).

Dolphin Browser Ad-blocking add-on
Lieber Kollegen,
I am new to the Android community. I have been trying to do my utmost to research the Android operating system and my tablet before it arrives. As such I have been looking for ad-blocking solutions and came across this while researching browsers.
freewarelovers (dot) com / android / app / adblock-plus
I hope it helps, I can't test it yet myself as my tablet doesn't arrive for another week and a half, but here's the description:
"General
Developer: Dolphin Browser Add-ons

Currently on Nook Color overclocked til I upgrade to the TF.
One thing I'm looking forward to is faster response from android apps like Kindle Reader. I read alot of reference type books where I have to go back and forth to the table of contents. For page turner books, the speed is peachy. But for jumping around in a book alot, there is notable wait time between when you move around within the book via tables and and links.
If I upgrade to a TF 1 or TF prime, will the internal navigation links in Amazon Kindle books be sped up dramatically ( with the Prime - I'm hoping zero down time ). I anticipate huge gains with .pdfs that render, but not sure about simple apps like the Kindle App..?
Thanks

I don't own a Kindle or Nook, so there's limits to what I can say about either's app; I only use the Kindle one. It works sufficently quick for my tasks but so does my Optimus T, mostly pager turners as you call it. Do you have something (free) that someone here could download and test to a checklist?
AFAIK the Kindle app does not do PDFs on Android. Polaris and MyLibrary do out of box on the TF101 as do several apps in the market. For that feature Adobes is probably best.

I got my .pdf's covered with EZpdf.
Kindle app is just for reference type books ( frequent bookmarked and topic searching using index and Table of Contents ) I order from Amazon.
Anybody could test what I'm looking at, by opening a Kindle book anywhere on their tab, and jumping around in the book using bookmarks and Table of contents. Is there any delayed slowness. Not page lag, but slowness in executing the page loads as you click the hyperlink or swipe a page in the table of contents.
Thanks
I just tested "Fifteen Thosuand Useful Phrases", a reference collection, using the Menu -> Go to -> Location and it was instant. Jumping from 342 to 8654 in miliseconds. And I'm using Honeycomb on a TF 101
Thanks for the feedback Kuma
Much appreciated
Hello,
I am looking for a browser for android that Supports flash and provides full screen mode (that hides everything including status bar to prevent burn-in).
I am currently using UC browser which meets those requirements but for some reason it won't load photos in LTE connection. So I want to find an alternative.
Thank you!!!

chrome
I'm still using the good old "AOSP" browser but I heard good things about Boat Browser.
I'm not a fan of Chrome Android though... Don't know why, I don't like the look, how it works.
dolphin has a nice bookmark feature
I recommend Dolphin Browser too, it's fast and it supports fluent flash and video playing. Chrome is a good choice if you like add-ons.
Here's an existing thread to help you get some more recommendations:
What Internet Browser is your favorite for android?

Hi,
I have tried every single ROM for TF700 and every possible configuration. Eventually, over time, the slate becomes laggy. The culprit was always chrome browser or the built in browser. Attempting to use one of the other famous browsers (dolphin, opera, etc) resulted in similar lags.
Over the past 3 months I have been using a new browser called Tint Browser. its an open source browser and I must say that I have no more lags when surfing, and no more FC. Really, the slate just works flawlessly and I finally can enjoy this wonderfully crappy device (I have a love/hate relationship with it) . I have found it on play store and I recommend you all try it (I am not the developer and I have no vested interest).
It is not the best browser out there in terms of features and settings, but its quick, does the job, and I am very happy with it on my TF700
I will be happy to hear your thoughts
regards
