Hello Guys,
I have the same old Sensation XE problem of WiFi, Hotspot and Bluetooth which i took to HTC Customer Care only to get a reply "I tried downloading your update but our servers are down so the download gets terminated in between...please visit tomorrow".....same thing since more than a month. I have grown tired by that and i have stopped visiting.
Anyways, my question....do you think the XE will get a JellyBean update sooner (India) ? If yes then i would like to wait for it. But it not....i just downloaded recently uploaded stable CyanogenMod 9 and i am so tempted !!!
Thank You
:highfive:

At least three.
Remember how many phones were released after the Sensation:
Two One X
One S
Two One V
Desire V
Desire C
Droid Increditble 4G LTE
Evo 4G LTE
Rezound
Amaze
Vivid
There are more, but I forgot/don't care to remember.
I don't think they will because updating the sensation means they have to update Sense 3.6 AND Sense 4 to JB. I don't think they will want to go through the trouble
I don't need the crap stock....
Any way it will be ported as sense 4 did.....

The One X has Sense 4, so if Sense 4 needs updating to work on JB then they'll be doing that anyway, and we know the Sensation can run Sense 4 so it's not going to be that difficult for HTC to release a JB update for the Sensation.

I agree but in terms of support HTC would have to support multiple versions and will probably choose not to do that as it == $$$$ in costs. It's just cheaper for them not do so and get us mugs to just buy newer phones.
Or, go to something like CM10.
I think if the Sensation will get the 4.1 update, you will know about in a few months. Remember that the first 4.0 update was available for Sensation & XE.
I think XE will get Jelly Beans, but maybe not sense4. Sense4 includes burst and HDR camera functions needing the image chip which XE doesn't have.
Sense 3.7 with android4.1 is most possible I think.

Yeah, considering they took so much time rolling out update outside europe i am a bit skeptical about it. More that that Desire HD which i used, got its 2.3.5 update (from 2.3.3) got its update after 2 months of ICS release and i am hopeless about them releasing udates on time.
i see the desire hd saga all over again from htc ,im sure htc wont update sensation to jb ,but im curious what will be the excuse
Short HTC Support Cycles?
So what's the support cycles on HTC these days? Six months? Seems upgrade support is dropped after six months because HTC are falling in to the Nokia trap. Release a bewildering array of phones to 'meet every market niche', spread themselves thin and drop support for last seasons 'bewildering array of phones' after only six months.
Samsung seem to be offering longer support cycles now?
This is where Apple just keep beating Android hands down. Imagine the uproar if Apple dropped upgrade support on an iPhone 6 months after release. Their support is more like two years?
Not happy HTC. I fear you will go the way of Nokia!
I love Sense but with HTC's build quality brand damage last year and ever shortening support cycles, I'm struggling to understand why I shouldn't just go Samsung like everyone else.
How far HTC has fallen. They were once the de-facto Google partner. Now even Google won't touch them.

It seems as though HTC are looking to update a lot of their phones with Android 4.0, and do you guys think the Sensation (XE) will be one of them? I think the specs are certainly enough to handle it most probably and it would be very nice. I am currently with a HD2 and it will take a lot for me to drop this phone, but it's my upgrade now and I could probably get a really cheap contract and I have read lots of positive reviews on this. There is also the HTC Rezound rolling out on Nov 10th but I have no idea on the UK release date, so I don't want to be waiting too long before a new phone, and I really would like the Sensation XE to have ICS.
Do you guys think HTC could roll out some official updates? If so it would be really cool and if it can get ICS, I am going to get a Sensation XE 100%
if they dont upgrade XE then they shud die...i m dead sure Sensation is getting it so there is no reason XE will not get it...

Hi There,
I had a HD2 before, and was using it with Gingerbread. Now I have an XE and after the HD2 I think was a good change. Until now I'm using it with the official rom. Not so good as a cooked one, but quite good. On the HTC site you can find a message which says XE will be in the first round to upgrade officially to ICS. So the hw itself is good (especially the housing, audio and the Dr. Dre earplugs are very good), and with the ICS it will be fantastic.
P
Sorry to break it to you but HTC rezound
Won't be coming to UK because it was only made for USA user and only Sim that can be use in rezound are LTE ones.
Basically what I know that rezound won't work in UK because it don't have gsm or wcdma instead it uses LTE network.
And about sensation room upgrade Yes we will be getting ics but not Sure Sie long it Is gonna take.

This is true, but I think it's conceivable that HTC could release a Rezound that's compatible with GSM networks.
For instance, the Desire HD was pretty much the Thunderbolt in America except with LTE.
But this is purely my own speculation!
According to a press release published by HTC Netherlands, company is going to release an updated ice white color version of HTC Sensation. Here updated means this mobile will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device will be available on sale from March 1 in the country..........

Have you looked at the HTC Ville specs? It's essentially the same specs as the Sensation but slimmer. The Sensation is a great piece of hardware.

But the HTC Edge is a huge upgrade

Probably earlier than that. Official Roms usually leak a couple weeks before they are released.
The same thing with the Amaze, it's the same thing with an extra 256MB of ram, and new housing and better camera.
I still love the Sensation, I can confidently say this is the best Android/HTC phone I've owned since the G1, and I've went through a bunch of Android phones since Android.
@Moshe, Oh Tegra phones are quick, no doubt about that. The G2x I got is amazing. GTA3 with full graphics plays much smoother on the G2x than it does on the Sensation. Just the fact the nvidia won't give the source code so dev's could develop ICS for it, kills the whole experience.

Yea, and battery just for 3h IMPRESSIVE!
Update: HTC just wrote us to say that its original press release was incorrect — it'll actually ship with Android 2.3 and be upgradeable to 4.0 down the road, just as its other Sensation versions will be. In other words, don't expect an ICS-equipped Sensation on March 1st... but you can expect a white one with Gingerbread. Furthermore, the white Sensation is already available in select markets, so the PR is simply announcing its upcoming availability in Benelux. Now, the question becomes: how much longer is the wait for the upgrade?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering what kind of phone you'll get after the Sensation (XE).
I think I will go a HTC Endeavour, because of the nice HD-screen, big intern memory and it has a good SoC (quad-core Krait will beat this so that's why I find this SoC just 'good').
I'd like to hear yours!
I'd probably upgrade to that as well. But I'll wait till I get tired of this one, after all ICS isn't officially implemented for us yet.

When I bought the Sensation 4G back in Aug. I told myself that I would keep it for at least 18 months. With a new car to play with and spend my extra money on, it looks like I will keep that promise to myself.
All the new and upcoming phones don't seem that great or that much better than the sensation. Also, they are all so big. The size of the sensation is the biggest that I can withstand. The galaxy s 2 is about the same size but I prefer the qhd screen on my sensation.
Until they make a phone with minimal bezel, on screen buttons, and same size of the sensation, I will be keeping my sensation.

yep, sensation already a highend device anyway
I have my Sensation since December, i'm pretty sure it will last till the end of 2012! When i bought it I didn't look in here and i retain myself lucky with all this DEV stuff going on.. So next time i'll buy a phone, apart from tech specs, i'll take a look at the forums here since i won't get a phone unable to be unlocked and customized as the Sensation!
By the way, the Endeavour looks damn good with that quad-core
To me, the Sensation with Sense 3.0 and 2.3.4 and the Sensation with AOSP Android 4.0 are two different phones. I flashed Virtuous Inquisition beta1 last night and as far as I'm concerned, I got a brand new Sensation since then.
Personally I've had enough with dust under the screen (this is my 4th HTC phone with this issue) and HTC's leisurely attitude towards releasing updates--not to mention forcing Sense on us. I had made peace with holding out for HTC to release their ICS update (so the devs could put together a complete AOSP rom), but then I noticed the dust after just 3 HOURS of carrying it in my pants pocket. Seems minor, but it was the last straw for me.
I finally broke down and bought a Galaxy Nexus from Expansys. So long HTC.

Slowly? I think the progress is blazin! Lol, but ya i agree after a year or so its time to upgrade anyways.
No point upgrading unless you love the stock HTC software, it's why I waited until the sensation had been out a year before buying one - to let the developer and knowledge base build up so I could flash a ROM the moment it arrived.
The sensation will still be sold and supported for years yet, the new phones don't add any killer functions so why bother? HTC are finding out that releasing a new phone every six months destroys brand loyalty, not increase it - hence their drop in profits.
Rooted and running an ICS rom, the sensation is still one of the best phones you can get. There won't be any huge strides made this year in cell phones. Maybe the iPhone 5 will be exciting, but probably not either. The sensations CPU is fast.
I saw a few videos but nothing that changed my mind.
I currently have a wildfire s but seeing now this phone that i have missed, i compared to see these things that i need but lack in my Wildfire S:
Gorrila Glass - I was mistaken thinking Wildfire S had gorilla glass..
Proccesor - Wildfire = 600Mhz , Desire S = 1Ghz
Camera - Both have 5megapixel, though i don't care for the camera, i want a secondary camera which is one of the stronger reasons i want this phone
Internal Storage - Wildfire S has a REALLY big problem with this, and App2SD doesn't fix much
RAM - Slightly more ram
But on the videos on the net i saw, the Wildfire S always won in speed tests and people prefer it more.
My question is do the people prefer wildfire s becouse it is almost the same on a lower price, or becouse it's really faster ?
And also, where do you presume i can buy Desire S at the MAXIMUM LOWEST PRICE, used or whatever. I don't care if it's new or used. i just want it. BADLY.
while it is definitely better than the Wildfire S, it's not worth an upgrade. You'll just be buying an old device in exchange for an older one..... IMO, you should get a One V. Hell, you can get a Sensation for a little more price if you want it

Yea i though about that but i like the Desire S, tho it's like 2 months older than Wildfire S, the One V isn't exactly what i'm looking for, i'm looking for a HTC with a good 1Ghz+ proccesor and secondary camera but the amount of money i have at my disposal isn't high... q_q
The secondary camera is a dealbreaker then. Just check the price of the Sensation. If it's too costly, the Desire S is your only choice.

I see there are HTC Sensation , 4G, XL and XE

Get the regular one if you can. The XE is just OC'd (which you can do yourself) and beats audio. The regular one is cheaper, but not available in some countries now due to the XE.

Sensation yes, better than Desire S by far, but One V... nope. I would not trade the RAM of Desire S on the RAM of One V.
About upgrading from Wildfire S to Desire S - a big YES on this one, the CPU is far better, the display is far far faaaaaar better, and about anything else is better on the Desire S.
The winner is desire s
To my opinion, if you're looking for device like Wildfire S, and its size properties are satisfies you, maybe you should also have a look to Desire C (prev. Wildfire C). It has the latest OS and Sense.
Sorry if I'd mistaken.

Sensation now has the official upate to ICS, so i think for developers it's more easy to find drivers for all workign functions, opposed to Desire S (kernel 3.0 is still in development).
