I have an Inspire that is rooted, and after 5 different Roms for1 day each, I have settled into the revolution ROM and it really works great.I have my unlimited plan4G (most of the time I think)and I have my tendering. My question is when running the "sweetest.com" application I get 331 down and 783 up inthe evening and 2592 down and 1447 up in the morning until about noon,is this network congestion? Is there a different radio mod or flash or something that software locks the radio in HSUDA mode or whatever is making it that fast?? If anyone knows of a setting or .apk that addresses this or a setting possibly I would appreciate it,or an explanation if its not a tweakable thing might save hours of obsessing over trying to fix it.Thanks, Vegas

Yeah, the slow speeds at times are due to all the iphones tying up the network.

Funny, but I notice my speeds do the same. But most of the time it's relatively good.
I definitely think this is network congestion. My best speeds are late at night (usually about 2.5 down/1.5 up). Most of the time my upload stays about the same (between 900k and 1.5mb), but my download goes anywhere from 400k to 2.5mb..or lower
So 2.5 down is the fastest I can expect and the radio with the Revolution ROM is the Best one I could be using? I have heard 4G was capable of 6mbps,No..Anyone?? Is it gonna get better in phases, anyone know the truth?Vegas
I have been back on GingerREMIX for about the last week and have noticed an issue with speeds over 3G / 4G / WIFI. I listen to Tune-In just about 24/7 and with BAMF 1.6.3 (Froyo), it never buffered. It seems with the Gingerbread leak that we have, it buffers over 3G, 4G and WIFI every 20 minutes or so.
So I have put together a little test sample of data speeds over 3G and 4G (I am working on WIFI results as well). The tests were performed on two different days at roughly the same time as well as in the same location to try to capture a fair sample. I will also note that absolutely no apps except for the speed test app were installed over the base ROM when testing.
I uploaded all of my results to google docs to make it easy for everyone to see.

Just something to think about before making the leap to alpha GB.
Disclaimer: In no way does this reflect on the quality of the BAMF ROM(s) as I have experienced the same type of issues on other GB based ROMs. It more or less comes down to the alpha build of GB that we have.
Interesting. Thanks for the "side-by-side" comparison.
Please don't tell me you used speedtest.net mobile app to get these results.
If you did, you should read the other 100 topics about Speedtest app not working on GB, you will in fact get normal speeds with GB just need to use a different speed test.
I really think that the leaked radio has more issues than just the possible bricking. When on CM7 GB, I get normal download speeds in the 12-20 mbps range, same with any froyo rom, however, when on any of the roms that need the leaked GB radio to work, I get horrible speeds. Netbook tethered to phone, Pandora/slacker streaming, YouTube streaming both normal and HQ videos. There is a definite and significant drop in download speeds.

Interesting, just when I used the leaked GB radio on Das BAMF everything ran fine with plenty of speed. Speedtest (Not the app) showed normal speeds and I never had a problem with downloading/streaming anything even the MR1 PG05IMG.zip to send me back to froyo downloaded in a minute or two (400mb file).
Also, Pandora didn't work on GB so I don't know where you got that from.
The 1.5.6 version of Pandora ran well, I couldn't get 1.5.7 to work though.

I noticed that by wifi is a snail on this thing. Even with a full bars, tethering to my phone. I set tether on my inc2 up for one user max. Wiped data, dalvik several times on the xoom and installed EOS 56.
shiny new rom on the xoom, did speed test, got 800 mps roughly, several tries.
then tethered to my inc1, got 2,300 mps. tethered to computer, 2,300 mps. back to xoom, (with zero apps installed) 850.
installed xoom zone. 800 mps. old HC rom, 800. back to EOS, 800.
dbl check computer, 2,400.
any ideas?
Benchmarks and actual performance are two totally different things. Have you tried downloading something on your xoom?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yeah I almost turned it in when I first got it because it couldn't stream, when my phone could. Ics fixed that to a degree.
Yeah I would never trust a CPU benchmark but I'm more inclined to give the network download then upload style some consideration. Especially since it was service concerns that led me there. I had considered that maybe the Xoom doesn't process the CNET speed test website well.....but that's why I'm here.
I also tried the speed test program on the market with my dinc1, dinc2, and Xoom. 2400, 2400, 850
Sounds like bad hardware. I would RMA it if you still have warranty.

Thanks, yeah I never usually go there but I'm starting to lean that way. The only thing is that bothers me with that is that I feel like some little quirks seem to travel from ROM to ROM no matter how many wipes.
I put the Swype apk from my inc2 on it some time ago and still, I can't get Swype to work with fresh installs and repetitive wipes. I picked through the internal but never actually formatted it so I'm thinking maybe I'll go to a fat32 wipe. Then lay a fresh ROM down on that....I assume it will re apply all the folders it needs. Is that the case?

Before my quick question I have to say thank you to M0D1441 for this ROM (and his contributors - it is absolutely amazing, and by far - the best ROM out there for Galaxy Skyrocket I727 users.
Flashed this Rom from stock I727R Rom last week and have had huge success with it and cannot wait for the update to this Beta 7.
However, since flashing the UCLD2 radio I notice significant slower speeds compared to whatever the stock was using. I have followed all procedures correctly, am able to auto switchover from LTE and HSPA+ and have had no issues with this ROM that anyone else has reported other than significantly slower speeds.
Max down on HSPA+ has been between 5 - 7 Mbs with upload at 0.2-0.56 Mbs and LTE down: 16-22Mbs (which is not bad) but have full bars and 2.78 up.
Even my home WiFi (802.11n) connection suffers from this new radio with dowload @ 18Mbs and up @ 0.56 compared to stock ROM speeds at least 38.6Mbs down and 3.7Mbs up.
My speeds with all connections with stock radio were, at bare minimum, double to what I am getting now.
I have flashed the UCLD2 radio a few times following procedures and still no change in speeds. I have read nightmare stories about switching back to older radios on the I727R and am nervous to do so.
Wondering if other Rogers users have experienced the same issue and if need be, what radio change to?
What was stock radio on Rogers I727R and is it compatible with the NexusMod ICS Zero Beta 7?
Is/can this UCLD2 radio be not fully compatible for Rogers customers in Canada?
Thanks a million in advance!
I'm on att and I haven't noticed a drop in speed I know its not Rodgers but I can't imagine its all that different

Keep in mind the modem is for AT&T, so not surprised you're seeing slower speeds on Rogers. Also, the modem, a.k.a. Radio has no affect on Wifi as Wifi is part of the kernel.
Bottom line, your experience is more than likely going to be a "best effort" at best; think of it like trying to install a Ford part on your Chevy car.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I figured this radio may only indeed be for AT&T but it is such a great modem/radio. My battery life is far superior with the UCDL2 as opposed to the stock KJ7 radio. Guess it's a toss between speed or bat life
As for WiFi, I realize this radio should have no effect on it but it is definitely slower with the UCLD2 modem. Strange - I will have to try and get this under the microscope and see how/if/what is effecting it.
This may be a dumb question (sorry) but can you use the stock radio with any ICS ROM or is that just going to cause nightmare issues?

Wow. Really? That's what I figured would happen for me but... not happening. The only thing I did not do was install busybox but I can't imagine that would make any difference to the radio.
I just want to make sure i am not damaging my phone by using this modem. maybe it just needs some settling time but it has been almost a week.
What kind of speeds are you getting?
I've had trouble with both leaked radios. Went back to GB/GB radio until a new leak shows up(hopefully rogers leak)

I totally hear ya. However, I have noticed something interesting which completely makes sense. After having the modem settle for a week now I have noticed that my daytime speeds on HSPA+ are slower compared to daytime. Now, Daytime on average is 9.51Mbs down and 1.27Mbs up (which is actually not bad) compared to night (after 9pm) getting an average 13.72Mbs down and 2.73Mbs up. I can't really complain as this seems the norm for GTA on Rogers.
LTE daytime speeds have now been an average of 23.7Mbs down and 3.78Mbs up compared to night time speeds of 31.2Mps down and 5.71up. And, this is on the outskirts of LTE in the East end!
However, my Wi-Fi speeds still suffer. My LTE speeds are far exceeding anything I get through my 802.11n router which maybe something in the Kernel which I will check out.
So really, I can no longer complain Guess it just took some time to settle in the device.
As for the Rogers ICS, according to this article: http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-reveals-us-ice-cream-sandwich-update-list , " The big picture is that if you've got a Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S II-class phone, chances are you're in line for an ICS update later in the year."
Ouch! Yet no announcement has been officially been made for North America. And, don't forget Rogers will need to test and ram it full of their bloatware before we see it!

Try LeeC's UCLA3 modem ported for ICS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567213
It says UCAL4, but it is 3. I found UCLD to be unreliable, and LeeC's fix is wonderful.
Good luck !
Thanks. I am going to give that one a try and see how it performs this weekend. Thanks for the link!
Good evening. Has anyone experienced any success with the data drops with the new radio combo. I have tried the combo for several days. As long as I have 4G data is fine. As soon as the connection switches to 3G and back to 4G, I have to reset data connection by turning on/off airplane mode. If anyone had this issue and no longer experiencing it, please advise what steps were taken to resolve. I have also performed a Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik.
Thanks again in advance!
This may not be helpfull because I have no idea what combos you are referring to but I can tell you I have had zero problems with 4g data drops and also no problems returning from 3g back to 4g since I loaded bamf ICS. I came from stock GB and never touched any radios.
Just tried to post a SS of my stuff but apparently its considered spam because I'm a noob? Lol

Thanks again.
I am using the newest radios on this ROm, and I do get the data drops, but I don't think they are related to switching from 3G/4G, I think they just drop. And I had the same problem w/ the other radios as well. Not sure what it means, just trying to get to 10 posts so I can ask some F'n questions in the devolpment section
Well sorry no help here. Mine are the exact same. Wierd

Another noob here, but I tried the BAMF ICS as my first rom flash (I rooted to get rid of the bloatrware) and had lots of trouble dropping data with those same radios. My phone was also very laggy when running this. I just about had to count to 2 after I pressed on anything to wait for it to respond.
My second ROM flash was to Liquid's 2.6 beta ICS version. It doesn't have sense, but is much smoother and responsive. I'm also down to only dropping data once or twice a day from the multiple drops with the BAMF leak.
My biggest problem with the Liquid build is I don't know how to make the apps show up in a list instead of icon view.
Using the BAMF leak and the latest radio combo, I was having data drops at least 4 times a day. Just this morning I switched over to the Open Mobile radio combo and it's been solid the whole day.
I just flashed to liquid's ICS 2.7 last night and had data drops on .19. I moved to the leaked radio combo and it seems solid, but others have reported the opposite.
Here is the radio I am using with no data drops.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864157
With Liquid's latest AOSP release, I'm getting less data dropping than with the leak, in fact I've had none since I flashed it this morning
Edit: I'm using the .19 radios

Honestly, I think I've dropped data maybe once with the BAMF release, yet to drop at all on the new LiquidSmooth release, however my Wi-Fi now causes my phone to freeze when it's turned on.
LiquidSmooth Data Drops
Flashed Liquid IcS last night. Great work.....! While in the house no data drops. 4g rock solid. But outside different story. Drove through the city of Atlanta about 40 miles had 5 data drops.
