Infinity cannot see N netowrks - Asus Transformer TF700

I was just curious if anyone else is having (or heard of) an issue like this? I have tried on three different wireless N networks, and it will not see them. I have tried manually adding them as well and it always says out of range. It is almost as if the N radio isnt working. I can connect to b/g networks fine. I also know that the wireless N networks are functioning properly as I can connect other devices to them. Do I need to enable the N radio in the tablet somehow? I havent seen any threads about this, so I am guessing that its just me.

The router has to be on 2.4/5Ghz mixed mode, Unfortunately the infinity can't se 5GHz networks. Yes I agree its dumb that a $500-600 device can't use 5GHz

got ya, and yeah that does suck. the main router I use is a dual mode asus rt-n66u, so it has the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks separated. pretty disappointing that it cant use 5ghz. oh well, thanks for the info.

usually you can set which bands and specs will be used. you can still connect your infinity via n as long as you have your router configured with 2.4ghz and n. most dual mode routers will allow this.

yeah its connected N on 2.4ghz. I had a brain fart and meant 5ghz when I stated that I couldnt see the N network. thanks again.

I know we cant use 5ghz but why? Would it be a software issue or a hardware issue.

( as I do remeber when I first got this beast - I had to try couple to times to connect this to work wirless-dual band access point ... but it finally did and first thing i did was UPDATE FIRMWARE !!!)).....
> i have re read the latest firmware logs , but I wanted to get 64gb card to work straight away ,,, so that was my plan - buy at time when ASUS had that sorted out.. blah blah...sorry cannt remember the rest of info in those UPDATE LOGS - might be worthwhile reading and doing updates

I'm on a N network so this is not true.
I only broadcast my home wireless network in N for highest wireless performance. All of my somewhat aged wifi devices that include a 2006 Dell XPS notebook with DraftN, a Nintendo DSi, Blackberry Playbook, and of course the Infinity all connect to a 802.11n hotspot I broadcast with two Belkin N150s. Even the Transformer Prime connected to the N.
The only wifi device I own that does not connect to N is my HTC Evo 4G phone. It sees it but fails to connect.
OP if I were you I'd recheck your wireless router settings, maybe you have MAC filtering enabled.

[Q] 802.11N

Running TnT Lite 3.0.
I have had NO (fingers crossed) issues since my very first update of 2.0. However, I had to replace a router and did so with a new 802.11N device. I can connect to it fine - but cannot see the "N" network. I looked through the posts and do not see anything specific ( for the G Tab - tons for other devices ) - is this a known issue that I am just not find the posts on?
Like I said - that is the only issue I have had.
TIA!
Guy
Clarification
Not seeing the "N" network: I cannot see the SSID and I do have it configured properly, unfortunately the G Tab is currently my only N Capable device to test with.

unless you can assign a separate SSID for each protocol type (b/g/n) on your router, you will not "see the 'N' network"
most routers should allow you to select the protocol (e.g., b/g/n, b/g only, n only) so if all your wireless gadgets are n capable, then you can configure your router to n only
note that the gTablet only has a 2.4 Ghz wifi radio
Separate SSID
Correct - My Netgear Router does let me have a specific SSID for the N network.
Might need to look in the the frequency though.
Ugh:
Thanks for the reply - I obviously can't read or pay attention (on vacation). I can set a different SSID by frequency - not network.

as the gTablet is the only n capable device you have, you can shut down the 5.0 Ghz radio on your router...

eh... 802.11n != 5GHz. 11n is a protocol with implementations in 2.4Ghz and 5GHz. but what your equipment provides is something else again.
So it cannot use 5GHz?

Correct. 2.4Ghz only. And in North America should only be using one of the first 11 channels. Your maximum link speed will be around 72Mbps. Use software like wifi wraith or wifi analyzer to graph spectrum noise caused by other wifi devices near your location then pick the quietest channel for your network.
Is there a way to tell if the gtab is using 802.11n? Maybe properties or an app???
I installed Android Status (free from the Market). Once installed, if you press wifi, it will give you more details. If the type is greater than 56 (usually 65 or 72, which is the max for a single wireless N radio), then you're connected using wireless N.
Btw - I purchased a Linksys E4200 this morning. The gtab browser is loading pages sooooo much faster now.
I'm using a Netgear WNDR3700 and am doing some testing. It's 65 and the apps rocks, it has some nice functions. Thanks
on the netgear look for an option to enable N(may call it 130Mbps or 270 Mbps) on 2.4GHz

One thing I noticed is that Android Status show the processor is an ARM 7 which is wrong, but I'm sure it's the app itself?
Pretty sure that's correct. Quadrant shows the same (ARM 7). Chances are neither have been updated to account for the Tegra II.
Tegra2 is cortex a9 processor. The cortex a9 is based off of arm7 architecture.

[Q] Not seeing Wireless N Network?

I tried to search, but Wireless N is a often used term, so i'll apologize now if I missed the answer to this question.
I'm running TNT lite 4.4.0 and even in the stock ROM when I opened the box, I never saw my N network.
At first I just assumed the device didn't have an N card, just B/G, but I double checked the box and confirmed there should be an N wireless card.
So wondering if this is a known issue? My iPad (sitting next to my gTab) is on the N network which is throughout the house. my G network is just for my phone so it's only 1 AP in the living room.
Hopefully I missed a tweak or hack
Thanks!
Mine does not see my N 5ghz network either. Gtab probably only work with 2.4ghz network only.
Yeap, the same with me. It only sees my 2.4 n network, not the 5 one.
The GTAB will not see N under 5GHz, only 2.4GHz
Ah there we go! Thanks!

Can I use the Transformer as an access point for my phone?

I own a Samsung Infuse which has terrible Wifi strength. I have to be in the same room as the router in order for it to connect.
Is there anyway that I can use my Transformer as a hotspot while its connected to my network so my phone can connect to the Transformer?
No, cant be host and client at the same time.

How is that possible? Unless your TF is 3G capable, once you turn the TF wifi hotspot on it shut off the WiFi connection.
I can tether my TF to my Nexus 1 but not the other way around.
are you on latest firmware? I saw something in another thread about it, but its definitely an option here and worked when I tested it!

Brand New Nexus 5 Doesn't Connect To Home Wi-Fi [URGENT]

I bought a nexus 5 to replace my galaxy s4 which died a couple of days ago.
My home router is a Netgear D6300 and everything (pc, tv and phones such as iphone, samsung and nokia can connect just fine).
My nexus 5 was delivered today and i spent the last 5 hours to get it working with my wifi but NOTHING worked (and, i'm not joking, i got to the point of almost throwing it out of the window).
I tried enabling SSID broadcasting, changing "security options", changing channels, disabling 5ghz network, i also enabled the guest network with no protection but nothing worked.
The only thing i noticed was the when using particular channels (5-6-7) the phone would say "connecting" for a few seconds but then it would go back to "saved, protected with wpa/wpa2".
I also changed some wifi settings on my phone (i disabled wifi optimization and i forced the phone to use the 2.4 ghz network only)
Sometimes it stays on "saved....." and doesn't even seem to try to connect.
After a while i tried creating an hotspot with an iphone 5s and my nexus connected in a second and everything was working.
So the problem should be in my router settings but i already tried everything (and besides everything else but the nexus works just fine).
I'm really desperate because i use this phone for work and i need to get this working asap.
I also managed to update to android 4.4.4 using my mobile network but i can't update to lolipop because it would use all my remaining 3g network data.
Btw i did some heavy modding on my galaxy s4 so i'm not a newbie to android.
I'm also willing to pay for support but to be honest i'm really disappointed that such and "acclaimed" phone has problems connecting to a wifi network that works with basically everything.
Sorry if I missed it in the post, but did you reboot the router.

Yes but it didn't help.
I've had 4 N5's in my possession over the past year or so, and not a single one had any issues connecting to any WiFi network, including Netgear routers. Your problem is either specific to your particular device or your router and not with the N5 in general. I assure you, the N5 deserves all the praise (and criticisms) that it has received.ave you tried a different router? I know you used it with your iPhone's hotspot but I mean an actual router? Also, have you tried resetting your router to defaults?
Are you using MAC filtering on the router?

I just tried a dlink router on my home network and everything works!!!!!
But i want to understand why my D6300 doesn't work with the nexus (its configured the same way as the dlink).
Any suggestions???
In the meantime i'll reset the D6300.

If your router is handing out DHCP addresses it may have run out of addresses if you have many wireless devices connecting infrequently. But I would thing a reboot would have cleared that up.

WiFi 5 Ghz issues

I've noticed whenever I connect to a 5Ghz network, it's complete garbage. At my house, when I connect to 2.4 Ghz I get a consistent speed of around 75mbps, when I switch to 5 Ghz, I can't get more than 20 consistent. Sometimes it works super quick for a second, and then anything I try to do, web surfing, videos, downloading apps etc.... just suddenly stop as if I have no connection and never start again.
No issues here with 5ghz - can only suggest resetting router and phone, otherwise perhaps you have a faulty handset.
Also no problems here. I find the range off the antennas great.
Did several speedtests and no drop outs.
Just got mine and AC 5ghz works great. Getting 235/23 mbs on my home internet.
I have the same issue. Inconsistent connection and slow speeds on 5ghz, only way to fix is a router restart, but then if i turn off WiFi and re-enable, the problem returns. Possible IP issue?
When I received the phone 2.4ghz was fine (110/110) but 5ghz was not (550/3).
I had to go to setting > WiFi > Advanced (in the "..." menu near the gear on the upper right corner) and uncheck Wi-Fi optimization.
Then I got 550/250mbps
Not sure if it's relevant to your problem, but you could try that.
Good point. Seem to remember something similar on the 10 too. Thanks!
You're welcome Hope it will solve your issue.
Unfortunately, that didn't work. Got a replacement handset yesterday, just to be sure that it wasn't the phone, same problem happens?!
I use a Linksys router, if the op is still on the thread, what about you? Have no issues on other 5ghz networks. Well, the other 2 that I've connected to.

Thanks, i'll give that a try. I've never had this issue with any other phone, it's very odd and actually frustrating. While I can fix it at home, I wont be able to modify router settings when out and about, so if I struggle to get WiFi on the move, i'll be paying a fortune for data, which may force me to return the phone.
Just tested mine with Virgin Media router and WiFi optimisation turned on. Maxed out at 220Mbps

I'm noticing issues on a Linksys router as well. My wife's old M8 had an issue that would go away when Bluetooth was turned off.
I messed with settings tonight and it seems more stable. I just made 2.4 and 5 on SSID, and changed all band settings to Auto.

If its happening on other connected devices on your wireless network either 2.4 or 5Ghz try changing Router channels.
I've seen this happen on 2.4Ghz. Turns out since I lived in a pretty Wifi congested area the channel my router kept picking as "The best" was actually 6 and all the routers default to that channel. Literally that frequency was so bugged down my internet went from hitting 60-80Mbps down to Kbps. Wifi Analyzer showed all 12 channels were pretty full. I switched to 5Ghz only and immediately saw a difference, but the few channels I do have on my router are getting congested nowadays too.
Nowadays whenever my phones Wifi speeds hit the floor I do speedtest on other wifi devices and Ethernet speeds. If theres a significant difference I quickly use Wifi Analyzer to see if its time to switch channels.
when i got my htc u11 unlocked i had problems with the wifi not connecting at all or if it did it would disconnect. i found that there was a software update so i downloaded it on my mobile data. once installed everything started working correctly. mine will connect at 866mhz to my dlink-879 ACN router
The ivp6 thing or whatever is what I did when I got the m9, it wouldn't connect to my wifi at first and it was 5ghz
