I just got the keyboard for my tf300t, and it has a sdcard reader. can you use both the micro-sd on the pad and sdcard in the keyboard at the same time?

yes you can.
I have tried with SD card, microSD and USB drive together and Asus file manager managed to pick up all the drives and ICS moved to mount them all.
tl;dr : you can use all slots simultaneously

problems with writing large files to external hdd

Hi,
I'm facing a problem with writing large files (more than ~80 Mg) to external HDD via dock's USB port. Tab crashes after copying approx 80 Mb... and restarts. I have tried three different hard discs...the same... writing from HDD to tab is ok. No probs with SD either.
Could someone give an advice how to solve this...

I will test this now and report back.
EDIT: Yep, I seem to have the exact same issue! I can copy the exact same file to a SD card using the same USB port though (using a SD card reader), so it seems specific to external hard drives. Very strange... Ahh, I just check and my HD is formatted with NTFS, which I believe is a no-no (especially right now, since I've heard that there are NTFS-specific issues with the current ROM).
If possible, try formatting using ExFat or just plain old FAT and see if that helps... Of course, that is just a work-around - problem is that when you *really* need to copy a file to whatever external HD is around, you don't always have the option of reformatting it! Hopefully, Asus will address this issue.
EDIT2: I reformatted my USB drive (exFAT) and then I was able to copy the exact same 1gb file without any issues... So, it's definitely an issue with NTFS format drives...

In our times everything is possible
I've received an answer from ASUS regarding this issue:
" Dear valued customer Thank you for contacting ASUS Technical Service Please update the latest firmware first, it is improved. "The update should automatically download. If it does not auto down load after a week you can manually install. From your TF700T you can also try going to Apps/Settings/About Tablet/Check Update, make sure to turn on WiFi and the device can access the internet. For manual download: From your PC you will need a micro SD card 1. Go to http://www.asus.com/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_Infinity_ TF700T/#download 2. Select Android OS 3. Download Version V9.4.5.26 from the Global server 4. Unzip and save to desired location. 5. Copy entire folder to root level of SD card 6. Remove SD card from PC and insert to into Transformer TF700T 7. Bottom of screen in notification area next to clock you will see and update. " If the problem still remains, you can restore your os for a try. Enter Settings menu>Privacy settings>Factory data reset. Prior to performing the full factory reset, please back up all personal files because data will be erased during the process. Note that all your applications are tied to your Google account. Please remove the micro SD card if you have one i already onnserted. To perform a full factory reset please follow the instructions below: 1) Enter Settings menu 2) Select Privacy settings 3) Select Factory data reset Once the factory reset starts, simply follow in onscreen instructions. When it is complete, the unit will restart.
If your could still not solve your problem after my suggestion, please try to contact our local service center for help."
I'm already on V 9.4.5.26-20120720... don't think that factory reset may help

1) copied LARGE <MOVIE-Mp4> to Tablet ( internal SD card )
Copy using USB3.0 stick (via File Manager built in)
2) Than tested that file = plays normally via VLC Player ( beta version )
3) MOVED file to (MOVE to feature - via stand built -in file manager
a) SD card on Dock (64GBFULL SIZE slot) = no issues ( played the file there with VLC)
b) SD card in tablet (32GB micro slot) = no issues ( played the file there with VLC)
4) Also - just tried .........COPY(via built in file manager) some files from Tablet HD ( non sd card files that I could see - am not rooted)
COPY to:
a) tablet 64GB = worked
b) external USB = usb3.0 slot = worked
c) Micro SD card (32gb) ..... worked
However these files were not BIG (total of 3 files = 3.7Gb approx ... as am NOT YET ROOTED so couldnt get to larger files in other folders)
So am but puzzelled .................. I also have a USB to USB cable = that was from an older WINDOWS TRANFER cable that seems to work when I plug DOCK USB slot to a PC ( which is a very instresting senerio!!) .............. note PC = Linux distro =SuSe Ent. version
(side note = all items USB, SD cards = still @ factory formats ........)and am on V9xxx.26.20xxx US version
so am ,,,,scratches head ,,,,,,,,,, lost as to what wouldnt copy??

Hide the MicroSD card icon?!?!?

I'm not rooted, not bootloader unlucked, but i'm asking if there is a way to hide the MicroSD external icon in the taskbar of the TF300T?
Thanks
No...only way is ..no card no icon...
But I think it is a way to keep you informed that the SD is in there and has not sprung out and flew across the room when you accidentally touched on the micro SD slot..like it used to happen with the prime

problem with microSD

I have mu micro sd card in my tablet and when I plug my tablet in via usb I open up the storage and open up micro SD and it won't let me delete or add anything to it.
Also, when I try to delete stuff on the micro SD from the tablet, it says permission denied.
I don't have access to a micro SD to SD adapter anymore, so what can I do?

I had this problem on a phone's SD once. My solution was to reformat the card. Sometimes if it has trouble reading any portion of the card, it can revert the SD mount to read only. You could verify that by looking at the removable folder through root explorer if you have it.

How do I reformat while it is in the tablet?
I can't put it into my computer anyother way besides the charging cable through the tablet
I removed mine and put it in a PC card reader and formatted that way, then put it back in. Again, what I did was on another device, and this is strictly a guess based on your description.

How to format sd card

How do you format the sd card on here. On my phone it's in setting under storage but on the tablet I don't see it.
I used my computer to format a SanDisk 64 GB card but it reads it as 29gb only. I'm not sure what format it was I missed used the default it gave.

Hmmm...
Good question!
I wonder if you un-mount the card\remove it\wipe it with win disk management\reinsert\mount...if the tab will write it's file system to the card.
I checked my Samsung card and it's fat32.
I've never formatted it from windows.
I bought the card inserted it in the tablet and have been using ever since.
I'm curious about this too!
Anyone...anyone...

Fat32format tool will break the windows limits, just google for it and it will format any size.
I'll try these ideas thanks. But how can I format the card while it's in the tablet.

You can't format it directly from your tf700, it doesn't have the format function, but you could with your phone (the one that support external sd card).
For people that are trying to reformat their Sandisk Ultra Microxdsc 64gb uhs-1 card from exFat to FAT32, check this site:http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm. it did it in about 10 sec. Now when I boot to TWRP it sees the external card. Enjoy:good:

If your tablet is rooted and you have busybox installed, you can use mkdosfs from a terminal app or adb.

Old thread I know but maybe people searching will come across this solution ...
Assuming you have CWM (or possibly TWRP but I haven't checked) you can boot recovery, choose mounts & storage, format sdcard1 then choose your preferred filesystem.

Yup, same concept as putting it into a digital camera or a phone. Sometimes they're better able to format the card and then it'll work in other devices as well.
I had the same problem with both Samsung and Transcend 32 GB microSD class 10 cards. Probably we need a community-driven list with supported flash cards...

Has anyone figured this out? i bought a 32gb sandisk microsd and I'm having the same issue. The tablet won't read it. I've tried to format it on my PC with both NTFS and FAT32 and neither makes a difference. :/
