I have mu micro sd card in my tablet and when I plug my tablet in via usb I open up the storage and open up micro SD and it won't let me delete or add anything to it.
Also, when I try to delete stuff on the micro SD from the tablet, it says permission denied.
I don't have access to a micro SD to SD adapter anymore, so what can I do?

I had this problem on a phone's SD once. My solution was to reformat the card. Sometimes if it has trouble reading any portion of the card, it can revert the SD mount to read only. You could verify that by looking at the removable folder through root explorer if you have it.

How do I reformat while it is in the tablet?
I can't put it into my computer anyother way besides the charging cable through the tablet
I removed mine and put it in a PC card reader and formatted that way, then put it back in. Again, what I did was on another device, and this is strictly a guess based on your description.

I have this issue as well. I inserted a 16 GB micro SD card into the transformer and it was not recognized. I think that the solution is to format the card on another android device or your computer and then put it into the transformer and see if it is recognized. I haven't tried this myself but that's because I don't have time to copy 16gb worth of data to my computer then transfere it all back later after I formatted it. In the end, some cards are recognized and others are not. I also recommend trying to remove it and reinserted a couple of times in the transformer to see if it will recognize it.

This is not a good idea if your card is full up
I went to the motorola and this is what it said about the sd card
Insert your microSD card
Remove the microSD Card Slot tray located on the back of the device.
Remove dummy microSD Card and insert your microSD card in the same slot.
Insert the microSD card slot tray
Do I have to buy a sd card
Thank You
Yes. You need to supply your own card. A 32g card works well in my Xoom.

No, you have to format the microSD on a PC, no options are provided from the OS to do so.

I am not to computer saavy can you give me a description what I have to do now I got a 32sd card today.
Thanks
If you have a microSD reader, plug it into your PC and format it as FAT32...that's all there is to it. You may be able to do it through the Xoom over USB (as in plug your Xoom into your PC with the SD card in your Xoom), but I can't confirm that. You definitely don't want to format the Xoom itself though.
Once I do this, where well the sd card show up? I wish there was a file explorer built into the xoom

OK so I use Astro, and Androzip, and for some reason I can't get my Xoom to recognize the Sd card. I can access it through windows, but not at all through the Xoom. Is this just because I took the card straight from my phone and put it in the tablet without formatting it? Thanks

I recently switched to a sense rom from my usual cm7. Now, my sd card wont mount via usb, apps cant accesss sd data files, camera says no sd is present. Samba is the only way i can access sd content.
Is there a way i can attempt to repair this before im forced to reformat??
Thanks

Take out your sd card and place in a card reader via your PC. then browse and open up the sd card and copy all the folders to your hard drive. Afterwards right click on the sd card and click format. Do a full format not a quick one. Begin copying back over the folders from before. Done.
Thank you, that's what I ended up having to do

How do you format the sd card on here. On my phone it's in setting under storage but on the tablet I don't see it.
I used my computer to format a SanDisk 64 GB card but it reads it as 29gb only. I'm not sure what format it was I missed used the default it gave.

Hmmm...
Good question!
I wonder if you un-mount the card\remove it\wipe it with win disk management\reinsert\mount...if the tab will write it's file system to the card.
I checked my Samsung card and it's fat32.
I've never formatted it from windows.
I bought the card inserted it in the tablet and have been using ever since.
I'm curious about this too!

Fat32format tool will break the windows limits, just google for it and it will format any size.

You can't format it directly from your tf700, it doesn't have the format function, but you could with your phone (the one that support external sd card).
For people that are trying to reformat their Sandisk Ultra Microxdsc 64gb uhs-1 card from exFat to FAT32, check this site:http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm. it did it in about 10 sec. Now when I boot to TWRP it sees the external card. Enjoy:good:

If your tablet is rooted and you have busybox installed, you can use mkdosfs from a terminal app or adb.

Old thread I know but maybe people searching will come across this solution ...
Assuming you have CWM (or possibly TWRP but I haven't checked) you can boot recovery, choose mounts & storage, format sdcard1 then choose your preferred filesystem.
I have a shield tablet withthe latest ota update. i also have a . 64gb sd card that i would like to use in the tablet, however i am unable to get my nusic on the card. i have tried.fat32, exfat and ntfs and transferred.my files using both a local card reader and a direct usb to the tablet. files seen to transfer fine but when i look at the card with esreader they are not there.
windows path says \shield tablet\sdcard but using ereader says i have an emulated sd card, sd1, and sd2. open to all ideas.

I'm having a similar issue when I install or move a game to the external SD. All the games are gone from the app drawer and just force close. Have you figured out a fix for this yet?
