Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's perfectly normal if you happen to be on a deodexed ROM.

I'm on xi40 which is odex correct?

The updating Android thing is normal. I get it on some roms and not on others. Never bothered me. I do have a question though. How did you change your splash screen? I didn't think this was possible yet.

Zero Boot Animation

how would one show what the phone is doing during boot, ie no animation. Typically animations hide the textual output to the screen as to what the phone is doing during boot.
....after all it is a linux variant, at least from what I have seen so far
deleteing the ATT_boot....stock android text pops up, I would assume thats firmware based (untouchable)

Custom splash screens...

I noticed Evo lte has custom splash screens that hide the red HTCdev message. Think this method would workforus? If so we need to get our splash on!

From what I see the Evo LTE uses the same partition for the splash screen as the One X so I'd say there method would work for us.

Thanks.. Maybe i'll get the nerve to try it. I bricked the other day doing simple stuff i didnt think would matter...It did matter! Tried to install CWM through the recovery manager app. No warnings or nothing. Said it installed correctly. Reboot and i'm in emergency download mode.. Bricked
So, who wants to be a brave soul and try it?
i took the plunge awhile ago

Your custom boot image would need to have a red background where the text appears to actually 'hide' the HTCDev boot message.

[Q] Does anyone have the black T-Mobile One S? What's the hboot version?

So I was considering selling my Silver/Blue gradient T-Mobile One S to purchase a Black T-Mobile MOA One S and I got to thinking...
Does anyone have this new official T-Mobile Black One S? Not a modified gradient version or an International version being used on T-Mobile.
I'm curious.. What is the hboot version on this new T-Mobile MOA Black One S? I currently have the 1.09 hboot on my gradient blue and I can flash radio/boot from recovery.
I'm assuming this new version of the One S is going to have the 1.14 or higher hboot but I'd still like to find out from someone who actually has the device.
Bump.. nobody knows?
I have the new black one s. Don't know the hboot, but I'm stock unrooted so whatever the hboot for any s4 will be the same out the box

Yeah I'm not usually afraid to try new complicated things with my phones but that guide just seems time consuming and incredibly risky if anything goes wrong.

I'm with you on that and well too be honest even on hboot .14 I don't miss it being lower, thanks to programs like Flash Image Gui flashing kernels and recoveries besides not downgrading radio I'm really not missing out on much. People seem to get stuck up on this for some bizarre reason.

[Q] JB Sense ROMs not booting for me

I've run multiple versions of CleanROM and also CM10, but anytime I install a Sense based JB ROM (I've tried Newt's, JellyBlam, and a few others), my phone gets stuck on the HTC boot splash, reboots, and enters recovery. I am on HBOOT 1.09 and Ive tried to fastboot flash the boot.img just to be sure, but it still doesn't work? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, any clue what it is? Thanks in advance.
Are you doing full wipes before flashing?

Tell us what ROM you're trying to install. Also, you're right about the reset. Do all of that in twrp.

Maybe you have an init.d folder that is telling the JB ROM to overclock? Could check and delete that first. Otherwise you can double check the md5 of the ROM you're flashing to make sure its not corrupt. Aside from that it might be worthwhile to try a ROM like urdroid which allows you to flash the kernel during the installer.
Dunno man, your problem is a strange one.

Urdroid was another that i tried. It would get to the ROMs boot splash and lock there, but its the only one i recall that even got that far out of the 3 or so that i tried. where would that init.d folder be?
Either the directory of the /sdcard or /. I forget which as I have deleted it. But it should be a folder. Don't delete it if it's by itself.
Sent from my HTC One XL
Really sounds like you are not flashing the boot.img correctly.
Extract the boot.img from the ROM you want to use and install it with:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You're not alone....

I've been experiencing the same problem on my HTC Sensation 4G for the past couple years since I've had it. I have 3 HTC Sensations in my family and I've been playing around with all 3 phones during the last year. On my sister and my mom's phones, I'm able to install any rom (Sense-based...ARHD, Elegencia; and AOSP/AOKP-based...CM10, Paranoid Android, etc); however, on my own phone, after dozens of installs, trying all types of different kernels and roms, I was only able to install AOSP/AOKP-based ones. I've been running Touchcream ICS rom for awhile, then Paranoid Android, and currently JB Samsation V5 on my HTC and I love it. I'm really not missing out on anything, but it's just weird Sense-based roms just wouldn't boot. After some researching on the forum and experimenting with others, I've deducted that the reason could be very well my own hardware. :victory:
